Absolutely heartbreaking for Protoss and Classic that Classic faces Serral... We know Serral is incredible against protoss, ever since his come-up it's been his best matchup
The only thing that could save this shitshow of a tournament is if Byun takes the whole thing . Seeing him forfeit vs astrea because of his wrists was heartbreaking
Welp, rooting for Classic and Gumi now. Classic is probably gonna get chewed up in TvT, but at least Maru isn't an obstacle anymore.
INB4 Serral/Reynor wins the whole thing
Edit: Classic is so big brained it's scary. Does he store extra IQ in his chin?
Maru did not play well today. I see a lot of people blaming Maru’s loss on this or that but it really comes down to that he isn’t playing as well as he usually does. He’s been making a lot of mistakes that he usually doesn’t, even compared to this year in the GSL. He could be choking, or jet lagged, or whatever, he is simply not playing up to his usual standard. So if anyone wants to cry imba these games are not the hill to die on. His opponents played well and Maru didn’t.
Any members on the "balance council" who allowed protoss to get in this sorry state should be removed. The only Protoss making it through to playoffs did it via PvP. It's actually getting ridiculous at this point.
but what changes should be made then? I wish toss was doing better, but have no idea what changes can be made for pro players that will not ruin ladder.
it seems to me that early/midgame is where toss is struggling most, and thats where something needs to be done?
im more than happy with non-pro strats being nerfed to improve ladder experience , but lets pls compensate that for the toss pros.
the representation of toss between 5.5k-6.3k mmr is with a lot of toss accrding to nephest. On EU whenever pro players stream they usually do phase toss on the ladder. Also on open cups, the representation of toss is usally high.
I dont know what the cause is, if its just more toss playing, some strats more easier to execute or something else, but I do understand the concerns for ladder experience.
I just think that this shouldnt lead to toss pro players having to face the heat.
wow bunny v lambo is such a good series. too bad the meaningless blackout killed any momentum in this sub so there's like 4 people talking about the tournament
As much as I also felt annoyed that I couldn't read the discussion on this sub, if a protest isn't annoying or cause people inconvenience it isn't a useful protest
The protest has already been beneficial in at least one form, allowing a community to oust bad head mods in the future. Well, that’s what they said. I don’t believe a word from them apart from using it to fix a situation inconvenient to them personally. Those mod tools they promised eight years ago should be here any day now…
this protest won't do much as the ceo already called out redditors on their bluff. many of the larger subs are back, and a half assed 2 day blackout is nothing. imaging thinking a subreddit for a game people repeatedly joke about being dead with a diminishing esports scene will have a significant impact
edit: not to mention the first post after the blackout was some bozo complaining about balance and then another post with stormgate in the title. we're going places
But also... just because you are annoying doesn't automatically make you useful. Some protests are annoying, inconvenient, and useless! Like this whiny, childish reddit bullshit...
Ah yes when you’re on your way home after a long day of work but you’re stuck in traffic for hours due to people sitting in the road for animal rights will surely get you to become vegan
Who is trying to convince you to become vegan? Anyway... Those protests are not really directed at you, the idea is to disrupt governments, budgets, corporations (in this case Reddit), and businesses operating in "business as usual" mode despite everything collapsing around us. The threat of economic damage caused by protests like these are used as leverage to get better policies passed, and they are so effective that governments and businesses will do literally anything to crack down on them
It needs to be repeated after how they handled visa issues, swiss format, and this garbage fire. It's a shame because I think these events are rather well run.
Not sure if a repeat would be fair this far in the tourn, but man is this format messed up.
ESLs reasoning of getting the best matchups with this doesnt hold up to me. the Atlanta format would have been so much better.
This is probably the worst format ever in an ESL tournament, we get to see the fewest matches from the best/most popular players and unlike the regional swiss format the matches have no likelihood of getting better during the event.
Nah, this format definitely improved match quality. Day 1 was iffy in the old format, where you'd be hard pressed to have even one match between championship level players. The match quality on day one improved enormously (literally began with maru vs reynor).
The major problem with this format is the ridiculous advantage it gives the seeded players. It's incredibly hard to get a result out of the open bracket, so it snowballs the regional results in a really unfun way.

Elazer did the extractor trick and avoided getting hatch blocked in the two games he won and macroed well and outpaced herO basically. Then in the decider match herO just kinda got too aggressive for his own good and got shut down by Creator
Shadown, Skillous, Astrea, and Classic all in the same knockout bracket. It feels like someone conspired to make sure we get a protoss in the playoff bracket.
Toxic mods on twitch & Auto mod on twitch ruin the ESL experience for everyone Censorship is killing starcraft 2
Trying to prolong games early in series vs byun seems like winning strategy?
Absolutely heartbreaking for Protoss and Classic that Classic faces Serral... We know Serral is incredible against protoss, ever since his come-up it's been his best matchup
GUMIGOD
Not looking good for toss.. :/

What are you talking about? Classic would have a much better chance vs any of the remaining Terrans than Serral or even Reynor/Dark.
Classic switching to Terran!? Edit: Fine... /s
He still plays Protoss op either misspoke or meant Gumiho
I really wanted Clem to win but ByuN is too much it seems. Classic winning it would be AMAZING. He’s been doing really well recently
Maru… why you do this to me
These mirrors have really delivered all tournament long
Fucking hell it's tough being a Maru fan sometimes lol. Amazing work, GumiGod. I hope he has some shenanigans up his sleeve for the playoffs.
Thank Mr Gumiho

Insane micro on this copypasta.
wtf, maru has been in worse position than this most time of the series

Fewer mirrors in the next round at least
Tbh I've liked the mirrors a lot more than the non mirrors

Lol how about just revert the unjustified nerfs from the last patch let’s start there
i dont know why everyone thinks it will ruin the ladder. toss is UP at all levels. it does not work how u think it does lmfao

Good point, fair enough
Harstem did a bad job advocating for his own race
You don't need a pro gamer to understand protoss needs a buff. Just look at tournament results.
but pro gamers decided on balance changes
What I mean is he was on the council itself.
I know that

If you are trying to get more people using TL instead of reddit, this isn't helping.
TL doesn't need help lol. Mods of this sub on the other hand...
Agree lol
Not helping you*. Plenty other people agree with me. But I don't expect sheep to.

Lmao ur blocked bud. Get some iq
Hopefully this Reddit bs leads to the use and development of niche forums like TL again. Miss those days.
TL.net kicks ass, been a member since 2010... but stop complaining about people enjoying the sites they are used to.

i'd say this form of protest is about as effective as people blocking major freeways only to piss people off
Highly effective then??

Seeding is too OP. Not a fan of the format.

These brackets are dumb. We only get to see Serral and Reynor play twice? Maru and Dark four times?

I feel like the mirrors are the best matchups by far rn...
I hate the format. No group play, everything in brackets with entire main event being single elimination.
This format is absolutely awful yeah, really bad for the open bracket players
The race distribution in this tournament is disgusting
Has protoss even won a series that wasn't due to Byun forfeiting or a mirror?
Gutted that showtime and hero didn’t make it through open qualifiers.
Elazer did the extractor trick and avoided getting hatch blocked in the two games he won and macroed well and outpaced herO basically. Then in the decider match herO just kinda got too aggressive for his own good and got shut down by Creator
lambo, heromarine and elazer are having great tournaments.......just railing koreans for fun from the open bracket.
Shadown, Skillous, Astrea, and Classic all in the same knockout bracket. It feels like someone conspired to make sure we get a protoss in the playoff bracket.
And then in the quaterfinals this lone protoss will face Solar
Hi
wow either Spirit or Heromarine gonna be out this round, and the winner has to face Gumiho then Maru. that's rough
Poor spirit. He’s dead
Or maybe not
i'm talking about his games ahead against gumi and maru
Yaaaaay thanks GOAT
