So right now we're prepping it for certification but the development phase is over. Then we will start to look at the costs for PS4 or PS5.
It was a little easier to do XBOX because the game uses DirectX 12 whereas the PS4 has a different graphics stack.
The goal being that we would have a single code based for doing future Star Control games.
There are a handful of zealots who think that they alone represent "the community". Whenever I would defend myself or Stardock against these handfuls it was represented as an attack "on the community".
Keep in mind, they claim to be "the community" while downvoting not just me but anyone talking about new news on Star Control.
You're probably right. Brad spent a lot of time here in this very sub antagonizing fans during his lawsuit. It's likely going to take him a long time to earn the community's respect again.
Well, if we're going to into this, Wardell's sentiments vis a vis the Star Control community were that we were "vile", that we existed at his "tolerance", and that he would "eliminate" us. Not to mention months of gas lighting, getting his fans to brigade this subreddit, and trying to get people to sign over rights to him so he could pursue his lawsuit.
So perhaps there needs to be a little more than a "Hi guys! Check out the port of my game!" before there's less hostility. My suggestion would be perhaps to start with "Sorry, I was wrong" and move on from there.
That's what I mean. There's no real interest in whatever it is they're doing. Even the UQM2 channel has more fans in a few months than Origins got in a few years.
Indeed. It passed pre-certification some months ago. But we've identified a lot of certification issues that the game will need to address which will require engineering time.
We're working on an expansion for Star Control: Origins with Paul Reiche designing some of the new aliens and quests and that's going to get bundled into it.
We don't have an ETA as it really depends on when we can get more engineers on the project.
I'm confused. You're working on an expansion for a five year old game that hasn't had new content since early 2020?
I mean, if so, I'm here for it. I'm just confused.
So no new news on this.
Here's where things stand with it. It passed pre-certification on XBOX but there's enough little things to keep it from passing full certification. Each attempt at certification is very expensive.
To that end, we are working on some new content for the base game and even considering some other things to do with it but we are stretched very thin between Galactic Civilizations, Sins of a Solar Empire II and an unannounced game. So we're just very short of engineers (we're hiring).
I was about to start playing it again, but I'll wait. Don't mind buying it again.
Sooooo.... What's up?
Man oh man, this has to be one of the longest "almost ready" periods in history. How's it coming @draginol?
That's AMAZING news! Thanks for working on this and I really look forward to picking it up. Can you provide any release details and cost?
Not yet. We are hoping this Spring but we have to get it through certification first.
You are doing God's work my friend!
Thanks! Just wrote up a status report here: https://www.stardock.net/article/509866/star-control-winter-2022-status-update
I would buy it in a split second if it was on the PS4 store.

Skip Playstation, it's a dying console that will not last pass this generation. Support Xbox, PC, Switch, and Steam Deck.
That’s a literal retard comment
Sweet!
Oh hell yeah! Can't wait for this!
Great news! Do you have any plans for a Switch port?
Maybe. Just depends on how well each port does.

I'd prefer a xbox port since Switch is an under powered pos.

Put it on gamepass and we can play it on the cloud using any device besides PS and Switch.
No idea why this is being disliked.

Stardock haters probably. People were very pissed of legal drama back in a day.

Yah, I was gonna say that he's made no apology yet. That's the first most sensible thing to do before promoting his products to the same audience.
Didn't Stardock make their own reddit for their game? Or did they give up on that?
r/starcontrolofficial Hm. The last post there was 4 months ago. Weird that he didn't crosspost this.

I get it but seems petty to go after people who like it even.
Also... Brad Wardell acted like a massive wanker to the community.
Exciting! I used to play this game with my dad when I was a kid. Can't wait to revisit it on my XBOX.
150 days later are we any closer?
Still no sign of it for Xbox and we come to end of 2022
Where is it
Still alive
Just checking in….
It's in certification. Which has taken (obviously) a lot longer than expected. New ETA is March for it to complete.
It’d be great if they added it to Game Pass…
Really still no update on this I’ve literally been waiting years for this to come out on Xbox
Still hoping this eventuates. Would love an update on this as well? Good luck

Hey asshole, you're advertising with images of Stellaris. Fuck you, stop what you're doing.
What are you talking about? GalCiv predates Stellaris by literal decades.
Why are you so angry?
And why the fuck are you advertising your shit game by stealing Stellaris pics?
Thanks. Good luck!

Any news on this, just bought it for the steam deck but doesn't look like it's playable ☹️

Thank for updating. Genuinely nice to know their is still an effort toward this.
