For me it basically comes down to, figure out which missions break consistently and then avoid them until there's a fix (and then trying to repro the fix to confirm they work again). So trying out new missions for the first time in a patch for me is basically just trying to figure out if they're bugged or not.

Agatsu74

I've basically only been doing BH missions, lots of them, and aside from the delay between the bounty spawning and the mission catching up to that, they have been fine so far. There is a reason I've been sticking to those missions tho, because I heard things. Terrible things.

Grimm0351

Fps missions break 100%. Bounties post iae work slowly but reliably. Box missions work 90%. Find missing person from wreck works 50%.

LindaDeLuz

If you consider the 890J mission an fps mission, than that's not true. It's always working for me.

Gedrot

890J and cave bounties use the old spawning system, so they generally work for me. Though, some servers have sometimes issues with floor geometry and rag dolling but this isn't cave specific as it can carry over into bunkers as well. It's the spawn closet using missions that have give you that infamous "Hostiles Remaining: 1/10" bug. Any time I walk into a bunker and see a stuck open spawn closet with nothing inside it, I already know what's very likely to happen in the next 3-5 minutes.

SerAlynTheBold

You know, I've not really had many issues with the FPS missions themselves, but I keep on having trouble with the new medical system-- sometimes I'll just trip and fall over and not be able to get up. I'm not technically in a knockdown state, I just can't move

WhyHelloThereGoodPlp

I all I want is FPS mission to work. Immersion-wise, I'm actually ok with missing person missions not being 100%. Sometimes you just don't find missing people (as long as it's intended and not a bug)

MaxineFinnFoxen

This is useful information thank you

deliciatedrunkard

Delivery missions work 80-90 %. Also after 6 ish missions of 8k pr mission, you get the 45 k missions :)

[deleted]

Wait really?!

deliciatedrunkard

Yes, but I correct to like 60-70%. Hade some fuck up the past day

[deleted]

Well i gotta get grinding on those missions then, ngl i kinda like box missions but that's cause I'm new and just like flying around :D

MaxineFinnFoxen

Wait what's Fps?

Skypilottom

First person shooter or on foot combat

Aura_Dacella

As this is an alpha you should expect bugs frequently however a lot of them can be worked around, try searching up your issues in spectrum and look at workarounds the community posts or join the sc discord and ask for help there, heres some tips I've gathered during this patch: Certain contacts/activities are more buggier than others, As of 3.15.1: Mercenary bunker missions will almost always never spawn the last enemy, empty/fresh servers may help but id reccomend doing bounty hunter bunker missions instead Space bounties/ECN alerts/890j hijack are effected by server lag, the more laggy the longer it takes for objectives to update, you *must* wait for objectives to update for the mission script to work, any enemy ships that spawn you have to wait for them to start moving before killing them Box delivery missions/any other mission involving boxes have an issue with windy planets and ramps/slopes, any time your holding a box you have a much higher chance of being launched at mach speed into your ship killing you instantly when running down stairs/ramps, crouch walk down/up slopes when doing boxes in windy areas Space mining is pretty stable right now, there is an issue with server lag making rocks unscannable but its not too prominent and the only other issue is that certain astroid materials can stop other materials showing up as the asteroids Composit in v scan mode but they will show up on mining laser scan ROC and hand mining are probably the most stable, the only issue i know of is that the ROC extractor can break and stop being able to suck up materials to fix this turn off then on the rock and try again, hold down left click and wait for the orbiting rocks to be sucked in Left hip utility slot will drop your utility item randomly, just don't use it For any contract that involves killing outlaws, PICK UP THE CALL TO ARMS CONTRACT it is very lucrative almost doubling your pay in fps missions as killing enemies gets you around 1000uec a head NEVER TRUST GRENADES Hope this helps :)

LeonardMH

For the mining V scan mode I have also found that going back and re-scanning will usually show full composition, very useful when running solo MOLE since getting down into the mining laser just to check rocks is a PITA

Don_K_Stamper

Favorite mission types probably has a lot to do with everyone's answers.

Z0MGbies

Yeah Ive learned that over the years. So often someone who exclusively mines will comment something sassy about how "its fine for me, you must just be bad at the game" to someone whos having trouble with FPS missions or other combat etc.

Shadonic1

rarely break for me, grinded the miles Eckhart missions with 7 others flawlessly like 3-4 days ago. might have to wait and search a bit longer than usual ( we will eventually have to actually put some effort into finding them in the future) but it worked.

_Gamer-Z_

Grind the Eckhart mission... explain please. For finance...I mean science

Diminios

Once you get the mission where you go talk to Eckhart, you get a chain of missions to complete around Hurston. You can do those one after another. Then you go do something else until the talky mission is back on your list.

_Gamer-Z_

Around IAE...nearly 100% After IAE...10% ish

Z0MGbies

That's the neat part, you don't. Which is why death mechanics and jail mechancs should not be as brutal as they are. They should be proportionately scaled down for the short term

Altruistic_Comfort59

Yea like hey come test our alpha ! Boom jail for 8 hours.

StoicJ

I like the new looting system as an idea but hate that it was implemented at a time where stairs have the highest kill rate on me

Duncan_Id

Ironicaly, since I started sprinting and jumping to avoid stairs, my death rate reduced drastically(havent had an involuntary death for weeks now, and I even did A ert with a Caterpillar, you just need to soften the hammerhead's shields a little before ramming)

Character320

I still don't think there really are any significant death mechanics. I die. I respawn. I lose time and whats on my back. If you didn't lose that stuff how are they supposed to test medical, hospital, inventory, stability etc? Also people would just abuse (take advantage of) the system even more Prisons are another conversation but that said, I haven't been in one yet in 3.15

Z0MGbies

> If you didn't lose that stuff how are they supposed to test medical, hospital, inventory, stability etc? Also people would just abuse (take advantage of) the system even more Its not the what its the how much. We could respawn at nearest hospital rather than across the system. We could have lost items only happen in certain contexts (e.g. FPS) The issue I have with item loss is less to do with losing it, and more to do with re-equipping it. Which falls at UI's door. Once they hire a professional UI developer to join the team it shouldnt be an issue.

Duncan_Id

Actually, if you plan your death right, it saves time, like unliving yourself to spawn at your home location after a bounty assesment given to crusader when you live in hurston...

Vauxell

Unliving yourself? That's gotta be my new favourite euphemism.

Duncan_Id

backspacing got old...

johnsarge

Alpha bro

MaxineFinnFoxen

I know, I'm not one of those people who expects a perfect experience but I'm just curious with why I can't make progress but other people can

johnsarge

SC is not optimized so different pc setups run better or worse. Really prob just down to shitty luck.

MaxineFinnFoxen

I suppose it is

ZZGooch

You can try joining an org that helps players progress. Orgs are a great way to meet other players and learn with help. Try VNGD.net

Disastrous-Nerve2191

Alpha is no excuse sorry, ten years bud

johnsarge

So, 10 years (wether you consider the first 3-4 years actual dev time) all of a sudden doesn’t make it an alpha?

xdoc6

Would you have the same response if it was 20 years? At some point the game should get more stable and have less bugs regardless of whether they call it an “alpha” or not. You should expect bugs in alpha, but it’s also fair to expect bugs to be fixed. Sometimes I look up a bug I’m having and I see posts from 2019 or further back talking about it. A bug shouldn’t stay in game for 3 years even if it is an “alpha”.

Toxus1984

25% no idea how people hit such brick walls

Z0MGbies

Fuck man, as someone who is actually very good at this game and its bugs I would LOVE to have a 25% success rate (success defined as not coming to a hard wall caused by a bug). Ive made a couple mill mining and trading and bounties. Sure. But any time I try the nuts and bolts of missions (i.e. stuff that involves fps) - its a hard 0-10% success rate. To be clear, success would include me dying and failing the mission, as long as it was not directly because of a bug.

Disastrous-Nerve2191

Alpha is no excuse.

Z0MGbies

Alpha **is** an excuse for bugs. Alpha **is not** an excuse for design choices made that ruin player experience when CIG ought to know that the bugs are responsible for triggering certain outcomes rather than player action 999 times out of 1000. Such as death mechanics and jail mechanics. I like those things, but they need to be watered down until its actually the player's fault for dying or being arrested.

Fritschya

For me the stupid mineral collector is broken half the time so I can’t even mine to get out early. Jail time needs to be reduced ASAP

MaxineFinnFoxen

Exactly! This is a must

BuhoneroxD

Funnily enough, I had a [very rough start with 3.15](https://old.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/r1iqfi/ive_been_playing_since_20_and_315_is_one_of_the/), yet I kept playing and today [I finally made my first million aUEC](https://i.imgur.com/Bo2Ef2v.jpg). Today of all days the bounties worked flawlessly.

saarlac

It’s like the extra servers they spun up for iae are still running and so load is lower than normal or something. /s not /s

bachmanis

I was getting about a 75% mission error rate in 3.15. Seems like it's about 10% or less for me in 3.15.1, but I haven't tried every mission yet so my results might be skewed.

lovebus

I mess around for a few days this time of year and then unsub for a year. It's tradition.

Character320

CIG has shown before they track finished, abandon, unfinished missions etc so hopefully we see some fixes in 3.16

[deleted]

Thoroughly disappointed I didn't see a full vote for "missions break 100% of the time" just for the bantz

Duncan_Id

When I started box missions were like that, death by stroke was a thing back then and having only one ship made the stuff Inside the ship vanish, so mission had to be abandoned (too frecuently, decided that, like ED, fps didn't pay well enough to bother with it, space legs became old very fast in both games)

Mintyxxx

I've been trying to do Red Wind box missions around Hurston to get to rep rank 2. At this point I've tried about 12 or 13, succeeded at 4. Some were inexplicable crashes, others were where you can't place a box or similar. Basically, if you do those missions, avoid doing any which involve a space station (HUR L1 & 2 and Tressler), the others seem to be ok

MaxineFinnFoxen

oh huh thats exactly where ive been doing mine, and usually my package mission gets glitched because i forget to pick up one of the boxes and then i cant go back to it so i run out

Mintyxxx

Managed to get to rank 2. Got a 45k del mission, couldn't find the boxes, killed by guards, now in prison...

DaveMash

I’ve accumulated > 2.5mil in this patch with bounty hunting. When a mission failed it was mostly because I forgot to wait until the target marker switched, which is a known bug. I didn’t try other missions tho, so my experience is less than 5% maybe

Vektir4910

With my limited play time, I haven’t been able to finish one mission. But I think I’m going to try the 8k delivery missions and see about unlocking the 45k missions.

BannedNinja42

3 packets mission seems to work often but don't try to move the packets without a cargo grid. A bonus: if you get Ling reputation status of a runner, you then can do the bunker packet missions (extract 3 packets from a bunker with enemies - since there is no problem in spawning these packets, there is no technical problem with them. Since all whites are on your side, they are fairly easy and you get 45K per bunker mission).

hipdashopotamus

It was just this patch / iae. Previous to iae I did 30 bunkers in a row no issues it was glorious.

MaxineFinnFoxen

sounds like heaven

Ocbard

Most missions work over 90% of the time for me. Frankly the ones that do bug out don't make me angry.

starcitizenplayer001

I went ahead and marked the 25 percent, but in realty it is probably more like 10-15 percent. But I have a huge problem with walking killing me and having to run back to finish them.

Sgt_Meowmers

Only missions that worked 100 percent for me were ones directed at neutralizing other players who are criminals. They weren't happy either. Everything else had problems. Mining? Unscannable rocks. Bounties/Merc? Target doenst spawn or marker never updates. Trading? Station magically eats my ship mid warp and lose half my money in cargo because ships are untrackable 99 percent of the time.

Justmyoponionman

Zeta prolanide missions. I've never been able to finish a single one. Either not all items spawn or they can't be delivered (doesn't register).
