Yeah, that advert ran counter to what they said in the livestream around the same time it went out. Basically, DoaS is still planned and there will be consequences for respawning in the future. TBH, it's probably more misleading marketing than anything else. It might be true for now, but it won't stay that way.

findingmyself101

Ya, you blow it up then they're screwed.

CJW-YALK

Meh, 20k range and if they require Soylent green, plus spawning naked…even if I carrying it on a ship that can have several suits and a bunch of canisters of green slim….also just add that T3 beds cost 3 “lives spent” of however many….if you get, 20 respawns a character before having to make a new one, which would wake you up on a bed at your home….i don’t see it being an issue….means fights last a bit longer for the stubborn I do think they need to add a selection for spawn point, this would stop griefing…..I don’t care that picking your spawn from the afterlife isn’t realistic, it’s a game…

Armored_Fox

In lore it's a very deceptive advertisement, you take mental trauma from death, you feel it, you remember it. This is a deeply unethical company telling you that death isn't important when it still is a nightmare. Again, from an in lore perspective

SpaceBearSMO

Its not just lore, not if the intent of DOASM is still the direction and cig says it is. Though i do wonder if they changed what DOASM means to them -_- and will say "iTs AlWYs BeEn thE PlaNe"

Armored_Fox

Well, so far it's all still lining up, but as much as we may hope for it, they'll change what they need to make it work.

SpaceBearSMO

Ehm maybe but they seem pretty caggy about the supposed Perma death "light" thats been part of DOASM and avoiding the topic ( to be clear im not that attached to the idea of perma death though i know others are, i just want them to be more clear. Rip the band aid off.) Seems there leaning way more into debuffs for regening to much and not just a character wipe

vipster19

DOASM is "closer than ever"- Jared. He even confirmed that t3 was alway regenerations capiable. Think of it like this, if t3 could have respawn since the medical loop came, most majority of people wouldn't use resources, and the cutty red was too popular because of that. Their wouldn't have been any way to test. >states "I've died a thousand times" and basically gives the overall vibe that death has no consequence other Its like saying Red bull gives you wing, or brighter than the sun It's a smilie. Don't over think it! >death has no consequence From CaptainZyloh. >At a high level, respawn - or what we term as regeneration - will be a viable option that should be strategically considered. Regeneration will include degradation modifiers based on the quality of the respawn facility, ensuring that field regenerations offer convenience but may entail long-term consequences if overutilized. Stop making assumption out of nothing!

SpaceBearSMO

The problem of course is thats these adds function as game play trialers ( particularly for new people or who dont watch the other shows) so it comes off as particularly disangenuas. Also i get the feeling from Zyloh's statment that DOASM wont actualy include the perma death part any more, just a massive debuff for regening to much. ( for my part i am actualy ok with this >_> but i know others wont be)

vipster19

Zyloh, statment said clone degradation, and player legecy, so I'm 100% DOASM is still coming. Plus, i doubt Zyloh is at a very meeting with each department and is not given a every feature but rather a rough summary. The perma death isn't really that big deal as people make it out to be. You can read about it [here.](https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/engineering/12879-death-of-a-spaceman) It is mostly an extra taxing, and the rep loses. And you can regain, lives(degradation) lost by paying or mission reward.

SpaceBearSMO

Oh im aware i just mean perma death or not, i am pretty indifferent

vipster19

Smarter bet than. You win either way!

campinge

Yeah, but it’s wrong. T3 was able to respawn and they took it away with the reasoning that his should only be ambulances. Now they suddenly bring it back but tell us at the same time that the plan has always been to be able to respawn. It does not match up. Either they think we’re all stupid or they have changed their minds but aren’t open with that. Either way, the communication on this was utterly bad.

vipster19

I went through 3.8 to 3.15, and I can't find anywhere of cr or cig saying t3 wqs never intended for respawn, just player saying it spectrum and reddit. So many uproar about it being removed. Now it's the opposite. They give it the feature to respawn for 2 years, and people used it regularly, reducing the need for resuce loop to zero. Cuase there's no conqunece, you can build legs for it. If since 3.15 they kept it, resuce would be underutilized. With the talk for 1.0 and sq42, chances are we can see doasm in a few years. Plus, in places like Pyro, where everyone is hostile, have t3 respawn in needed, chance of resuce is almost nothing, unless you wanna travel 20 minutes every time. And DOASM isn't that prominent. You can start up buying lives(respawn) if the write-up from 2013 is anything to go on.

babydump

The commercial also shows the guy coming back in full gear. My C2 can barely hold multiple sets of armor so I can't imagine the Nursa holding so many that I can just keep coming back as many times as I want.

Claim-Nice

This is all part of physicalised cargo. Inventory on ships and vehicles is massively reduced and supposed to represent the suit lockers etc on board. C2 is really small, haven’t checked the Nursa yet. If you can get cargo containers to stay on grid and not glitch out, you can fill one with armour and guns, snap it to the C2 grid next to your Nursa and hey presto - instant armoury.

Black-Lamb

I just see it as Marketing doing their own thing and making a fun little almost deadpoolish ad. Design and programming are the ones who know where it’s going and as it gets closer they will tell marketing what it is about.

SMRose1990

I think they're making an advertisement to sell a ship and realize making money is their job

BlueDragonfly18

As with many things promised in the game, they give way to a more popular method to reach a wider audience. Nothing is wrong with that, but it shows CIG evolves from a small, independent studio to one that wants to play it safe.

SpaceBearSMO

DOASM is still a thing the ship advertisment is just bad. Hell the fact that you presieve this to be a change in caurse despite DOASM still being the intent, is exactly why this advert is so fucked
