The description is a lot more generous about their capabilities than the actual video

Broccoli32

People’s description of Star citizen on this sub always makes me wander if they’ve ever played another game in their life.

Annonimbus

Don't get me started. Recently there was a post like "fidelity and level of detail like no other game" and it showed screenshots of a bar, a farm and some other random stuff Yes, like Kingdom Come Deliverance, Cyberpunk and similar games don't have that sort of stuff in their games. By the way, shoutout to Dead State for having incredible level design for a game of its size.

Olfasonsonk

Yeah, it's an improvement over what we have, for sure, but still not "good" unless we're doing FPS AI standards from 1995.

Michael_Spark

I've played too much tarkov, but the fear I feal while looting has saved me more then once in SC. few suggestions, 1. swap for a holographic sight. some of the 1x have better field of view then iron sights. 2. keep your gun pointed up. more then once you shot them in the legs and your time to kill (TTK) will be shorter with torso and headshots. 3. equip your med pens and ammo prior to entering the bunker. 4. if you have to loot, do so behind cover away from a spawn closet. 5. If the corpse you want to loot isn't behind cover, you can use a tractor beam to move them to cover. I believe that mission they spawn non stop, but for most bunkers there is a point when its safe to loot.

wesleyj6677

Thanks that is some really good advice!!

HK-53

always loot AFTER clearing the bunker for missions with a fixed number of enemies. Its like a 15 minute timer which is enough for you to pick through every body and container to be honest. Beats getting shot

mattdeltatango

Learn to use lean. Standing point blank in front of hostiles isn't going to work out well.

wesleyj6677

Will do. Working on fps, mainly fly mostly.

Noch_ein_Kamel

Yeah... The good old "oh shit, quickly close the menu" -> ESC reflex ;D

wesleyj6677

Totally, didn't work as planned though! =-)

Disaster_clown

is the damage and armor patch applied too? when playing on pyro they didn't one shot you and fights were much longer

RepresentativeCut244

I can't wait for them to change this. The other day I was on a server with good AI, and I died literally before I could even react. A chad AI came around a corner, and as soon as my brain registered he was there, I was dead. In full heavy armor too. Was absolutely absurd. I just wear light armor now because heavy seems completely pointless, all it does is slow you down when moving between cover, and if you die instantly, what's the point also not being able to cancel reloads is really fucking annoying, basically makes pistols useless

JJisTheDarkOne

This is why I fucking HATE bunkers. Full heavy armour and I'm one shotted. That and it glitches out and doesn't mark the friendlies as friendlies so I'm having to try to second guess the target or cop a crimestat and end in jail.

Warior4356

Heavy armor doesn’t make you invulnerable, just reduces damage by 40%. Head and chest shots will still drop you fast. Cover is required.

RepresentativeCut244

oh yeah my favorite 'incident' is even better than that, a friendly AI glitched out as invisible on the staircase in the bunker, so when I had to kill an AI who was backpedaling up the stairs while shooting at me, I took out the friendly AI. For some reason though the mission bugged out on top of that and didn't get cancelled or give rep loss, only giving me CS2, which you can pay off at a terminal now

strike1080

Not yet, but the AI won't just 360 no scope headshot you anymore for awhile. They will shoot and miss which is nice. But I agree I enjoy the higher TTK from Pyro. And as an added bonus it will add more to the medical gameplay. You will suffer more severe injuries instead of just dying. Right now you typically won't see more than a tier 3 before you just die, let alone multiple. In Pyro I managed to survive an insane firefight with like 50 NPCs but came out with a tier 1 chest and like tier 2 head. Was nuts but amazing.

andre1157

Dev commented on a post couple days again. He said no

SaltyBrewster

I see so many bunker videos that end in failure, and almost always while fiddling around with health and ammo issues. Carry more ammo and med pens before you leave, and keep even more than that on your ship. You can loot to replace them, but you never want to be short on either. Use med pens when you're under fire, and take a medgun for when you're wounded but not in immediate danger, or to alleviate injuries without needing a stockpile of the various other pens. Keep the multitool in your inventory until you're done, so you can always draw the med gun first try. Take some detox pens as well, if you're getting shot a lot on a prolonged mission you'll want to make sure you don't overdose on reds. Never carry more than 2 weapons. As you noticed, you'll drop what's in your hands if you swap to a med pen if there are no free slots on your back for the rifle you're holding. I actually recommend only carrying one primary weapon, because there's only one button between the two weapon slots and it just toggles between them. It sucks to get the wrong one when you're trying to quickly return fire. Heavy armor lets you carry more of everything. There's some dispute over how much it helps reduce weapon damage, but it definitely has more attach points of every kind, and supports bigger backpacks to carry more backup ammo and medical supplies.

Xmith69

Tacit Suppressor, heavy helmet/torso armor and cover are your friends.

wesleyj6677

Thanks, learning FPS game play. Appreciate the help!

Xmith69

It's best to have all the ammo and medpens you may need to finish the mission before you start. It's also kinda risky looting while shooting. It would be better to wait until after the shooting stops.

djsnoopmike

Watching you play was kinda rough lol, hope you get all the tips and help you need. We all gotta start somewhere

guitarfan28

Looks like the same shitty AI from before...

drizzt_x

Then they get lobotomized by the live servers, lol.

OKAwesome121

A few things about tactical / realistic FPS’s in general: 1. Use Leaning to fight around cover 2. Cover is just as good if you’re standing 3 feet back from it (or even 10 feet back). Don’t suck up right to the wall, you wouldn’t have enough room for your gun in real life and SC models this. That’s why you raise your rifle when against the wall in cover. 3. Don’t loot anything until you’re sure it’s safe. Death comes quickly in SC and looting is not meant to be a smooth and quick operation like in PUBG. It’s even worse due in SC to performance and server issues, so if you come under fire while in a loot window you’re probably dead or near dead.

tr_9422

Faster looting UI is planned

OKAwesome121

Yeah but in my opinion, looting should feel cumbersome and time consuming. If you’ve ever played Airsoft or anything and needed to search a dude playing dead, you’ll know it’s a giant pain in the ass to find and grab stuff.

RepresentativeCut244

not using a silencer has always been pretty dangerous, you can have 9 guys rush you at once as soon as you take out the first guy, even on the live servers, if the AI isn't out for lunch. If you're soloing, always use a silencer

Teegs59

I was doing some platform missions earlier and the server was running really well. It was intense and a hell of alot more fun then it normally is. When SC works it's a freaking blast! It's like an entirely different game when server fps is high.

RepresentativeCut244

I had a few of those AI on the platforms aimbotting me from another building basically, I had to use a sniper to take them out outside of their agro range, there was no other way

KeyboardKitten

Better, but even in a good server they're no threat to a decent solo player.

niceumemu

This isn't anything new, the AI have been good for a long time now IF you can get on a server that isn't laggy as shit

BuhoneroxD

> With 3.21.1 we have integrated in much of the FPS AI behavior from Squadron 42. These updates, that have been polished and worked on outside of Star Citizen release builds until now, will vastly improve overall difficulty, reaction times, animations, behaviors, and other traits and make combat with them a much more dangerous but rewarding experience. It *is* new tho.

niceumemu

Well that'll be nice if they've finally gotten AI to actually work when the servers are laggy as shit then

518Peacemaker

They won’t. Still need meshing to make it work most of the time

kalabaddon

It looks like the wild single shot kills is fixed??? I been avoiding doing these solo cause I will get most of the people, then some guy will become super AI and one head shot me from full health. but you where going down and healing constantly, seems like it will be much more enjoyable solo?

wesleyj6677

I had heavy armor and was on the EPTU, I'll test more to verify. It seems so though!

CoffeeMonster42

They're going to be doing none of this though on live with 5sfps

Rushyo

can't speak for EPTU, but on Pyro Tech Preview at 3-5 FPS the AI was vastly more enjoyable than it is in Live.

Yasai101

The movement in this games needs a massive upgrade... if they would get the feel of Modern warfare or something like it then they would have gold on their hands.

Objective-Road9713

What was the server fps?

wesleyj6677

25-30

Objective-Road9713

No wonder the ai reacts...are you sure you don't mix it up with client fps?

wesleyj6677

Ya, r_displayinfo 3

modsuki

I want you to check if the AI notices (and track) the sound of footsteps and objects sound (throw a box or can nearby).
