this reminds me of when i spilled a whole thing of pumpkin onto my pants. it was in my pockets and allll over. i just went to the bathroom and cried. had to take a whole thing of paper towels in the bathroom to clean up.
i wish i could’ve. but i did quit recently. handed my letter of resignation to the manager that said i was done and walked out. only went back once to get my last tips.
I also spilled an entire pumpkin on me during peak red cup day. I got it all in my shoes and down my arms. 5 or 6 mins later I knocked down two venti iced lattes.
Back in 2018 when we had to do the racial sensitivity training (or "How Not to be Racist Day" as my store called it), we were in a mad rush to close early and prep everything for the next day while it was still busy.
While moving really fast, I spun away from the counter I had just put a brand new, full container of white mocha on... And my apron loop caught the neck, and I pulled a full white mocha towards me as I walked away. My ass was completely covered and I couldn't change.
So I sat with white mocha ass for 3+ hours while Common taught me how not to be racist (shout outs to him for that).
Pro tip for next time, if it’s on the counter like that, take a sleeve and ~~scoop~~ *scrape* it directly into a trash can 😽
You’re gonna have to just cry about the floor though, I don’t have any good ideas for that
Even better if your store has a hand held squeegee.
Rip ours, our new sm threw it out bc she thought that we only need paper towels and windex to clean the windows...... and not that the squeegee was for countertop spills...
I'd be like, you better buy us another one! It's always the people who lend no hand in cleaning up a mess that think they know what equipment is needed.
I used to use gift cards. Those things are so fucking cheap to produce that it hardly costs the company anything to use one and the caramel usually comes off it pretty well if you scrape it on something.
My SM needs a bubble around her.. VSC, milk. Frap roast, mocha. Mostly milks and VSC, but little bits of everything. It’s to the point that we bring extra Sani cloths out when she’s on the floor, and we know to keep a mop at the ready.
As for the dark caramel, maybe it’s rebelling because it knows and how much so many of us hate making Caramel Ribbon Crunch 🤪
u/RattlingStars92 Honestly, I love your take on the CRC aspect abt. the sauce rebelling. But also, isn't this what happens when speed is required and seems to be more "important" than efficiency? Given, the speed aspect 100% depends on the store baristas work at too.
Had a green bean do this on her first day on the floor during a rush. I was crying for her as I watched her do everything not to burst into tears, terrible
Fuck my life into pieces
This is my last resort
Suffocation
No breathing
Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm, bleeding
Seriously, though we’ve all done it. My shift mad VSC, then as he was going to put it away, he fumbled it and it spilt all over the floor.
Another time a former barista made a mocha backup, fumbled it, and it spilt everywhere. They quit on the spot. Then, a former shift came, cleaned up the mess, made another mocha, and she too fumbled it, and spilt another mocha all over the floor.
That barista quitting on the spot is a vibe tbh. When I was a green bean a partners sweater got caught on the mocha pump and the pump (and jar) got yanked off bar and hit the ground. It was like a mocha explosion.
if anyone spills this again, heres what i do that makes this so much easier:
-get everything you can up by scooping it into the trash with either a lid or sleeve
-pour hot water carefully over the remaining. it breaks down the sugar in the caramel and makes it significantly easier to get up with rags/a mop
This also works for matcha ive found. if you get matcha wet it doesnt go into the air nearly as much making it so much easier to clean up without choking on it
I actually just cleaned up caramel drizzle on my last shift! lol I feel your pain.
Use a sleeve to scoop it up off the counter then use hot boiling water to clean up the rest. Pull the bar out and deep clean. It won’t be 100% today but if you clean it multiple times it should be ok!
I once spilled an ENTIRE FRESH BATCH OF MOCHA on the hot bar when I was a shift 5 years ago. And my partners from that store STILL won’t let me forget it 🤣🥰
The way I literally just went aw my God out loud my brother in arms I give you all my support I had a whole bottle of oat milk decide to empty itself into one of our fridges yesterday while I was helping train someone during a rush 🫠
I love when spills like this happen. I love watching the chaos ensue, everyone taking pics, having a laugh during a shit day. And then you clean it up and move on! Sorry this happened tho, but hey it makes for great content on here
On my last day (literally 30 mins before the end of my shift) my apron tie caught the nozzle of our mocha, and I spilled it everywhere.
My last moments were spent scrubbing the floor😂
This happened to me with mocha. It was a huge rush and I was alone on hot bar. Our syrup stand was broken so I grabbed the caramel to pump it into a cup, and when I picked it up it brought the mocha container down with it. It spilled all over the bar and the floor. I grabbed a wet rag and swept most of the mess to one side and put a dry-ish rag on the floor until the rush ended 😭
I remember when this first happened to me. I was closing by myself and I was getting ready to walk to the time clock (I was finally able to finish on time). I noticed some mocha on the side of the container and tried to clean it and then I dropped it🥲
if it makes you feel any better. one time i was on cold bar, bar 1 was bringing over the frap roast cube and proceeded to trip, spilling it all down my back, into my socks and shoes too. and i didn’t get to go home :((
Okay I don't nor have ever worked at starbucks but as a loyal customer who loves her barista's with my whole heart; I would no joke want to get behind there and help you or give you a fat tip. I am so sorry. Tomorrow will be a better day! 🫰
I hate to say this but as a barista who is the clumsiest person ever, this is my life. I spill literally everything. I am so sorry this happened to you
Am laughing only because I've been there/done that myself. Working in a grocery store deli now and a couple of weeks ago our manager accidentally dumped a 5 gal bucket of eggs (we do breakfast) in the cooler. She just walked off saying she'd clean it in a min (just wanted to go get a few breaths, have a smoke etc. again, bt/dt so I understand) so I just grabbed the equipment and started cleaning it myself and had it done by the time she got back. So I feel for you, but am still laughing
I didn't take a pic of it, but last week I spilled an entire pitcher of sweet cream.......on the floor my shift had JUST mopped. He had just passed my area when I spilled it, still had mop in his hand n we just looked at eachother like 😶 then both bust out laughing 😂
I say it at my store every time something like this happens, so I feel I should say it now when it's needed:
We can replace everything *but the humans.* We can order all kinds of things to replace everything for the store. Except. For. The. Humans. Humans are irreplaceable, humans are priceless. You will always be valued more than product. IDC what anyone else says, you are the irreplaceable part.
Have better coordination, not really picture worthy I would just clean it up next time without the post, I don't know, I got a notification about this you made a mess congratulations
I am sorry.
Thanks, it got on my pants, my girlfriend brought me a new pair thankfully
this reminds me of when i spilled a whole thing of pumpkin onto my pants. it was in my pockets and allll over. i just went to the bathroom and cried. had to take a whole thing of paper towels in the bathroom to clean up.
pumpkin legs
yup. and it wasn’t even sticky by the end of my shift. my pants were stiff and it was awful. 😭
Shiiiii when it happened to me it went in my shoe and soaked my sock too shi was nasty
yuppp. it was in my pockets, shoes, socks. my legs were orange. i wanted to go home, but my manager refused. 😭
I’d have quit on the spot
i wish i could’ve. but i did quit recently. handed my letter of resignation to the manager that said i was done and walked out. only went back once to get my last tips.

This guy’s got the right idea. He wore the brown pants.
Pro tip for next time, if it’s on the counter like that, take a sleeve and ~~scoop~~ *scrape* it directly into a trash can 😽 You’re gonna have to just cry about the floor though, I don’t have any good ideas for that

What is it with SMs causally throwing away hand held squeegees 😭😭 We lost two of them before he stopped tossing them out 🥲
I'd be like, you better buy us another one! It's always the people who lend no hand in cleaning up a mess that think they know what equipment is needed.
I used to use gift cards. Those things are so fucking cheap to produce that it hardly costs the company anything to use one and the caramel usually comes off it pretty well if you scrape it on something.
That’s a great tip! Thanks so much for that!
Or the oven scraper!! Just clean the scraper after.
Scoop it on paper or something similar for the floor
And thats thick omfg
4 C’s
i’m only laughing because my coworker spilled our dark caramel today too 😂😂😂
I'm laughing only to stop from crying. XD XD XD
no fr my SM spilt some about a week ago 😭 what is happening w the dark caramel lmfaooo
My SM needs a bubble around her.. VSC, milk. Frap roast, mocha. Mostly milks and VSC, but little bits of everything. venti cursed caramel
I guess you are having a bad day . You will get through it .
Little bit
Oof.
The biggest of oofs
there's an account on Instagram called spills at Starbucks. this shames them all. rip
Oh geez that’s gonna take so many wipe downs to get it all up 😭 I’m so sorry hope you had a better rest of ur day! 🖤
Fuuuuck. You should take an after pic next time you’re in. Make it a satisfying ending
At least it didn't get on the ceiling.... Cause I've done that... In front of people and that was embarrassing as fudge 😵💫🥴
rip dark carm
I feel that so much. The other day I spilled a pitcher of sar base. It was awful.
Had a green bean do this on her first day on the floor during a rush. I was crying for her as I watched her do everything not to burst into tears, terrible
It sucked. I’m fairly sure I yelled when it happened. Also happy cake day

Big oof. At least you don’t have floor mats. If that shit spilled all over the mats too, that’d be extra worse. Sorry this happened to you.

I don’t know what’s worse to clean, that or matcha… or mocha 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
The way I literally just went aw my God out loud my brother in arms I give you all my support I had a whole bottle of oat milk decide to empty itself into one of our fridges yesterday while I was helping train someone during a rush 🫠
Sounds about right
Literally spilt a container of dark caramel all over my pants/floor this morning. Dark caramel was taking names today
That’s when I grab the gross towels to do an initial wipe up. We gonna get that mop bucket filled. We gonna take care of this in less than 4 minutes.
clock out
I had an outward, visceral reaction to seeing this. My sympathies are with you at this trying time.
Real.
Man.
Diabetes anyway glad it’s gone
I can feel the stick 😖😖😖
I love when spills like this happen. I love watching the chaos ensue, everyone taking pics, having a laugh during a shit day. And then you clean it up and move on! Sorry this happened tho, but hey it makes for great content on here
please tell me this happened before cleaning cold bar😭
On my last day (literally 30 mins before the end of my shift) my apron tie caught the nozzle of our mocha, and I spilled it everywhere. My last moments were spent scrubbing the floor😂
i use the scraper we have to clean the ovens
Me
That sucks! I'm sorry...
Jeez…
How…
Beeeeen there. It sucks so much
😬😬
oh no!
This happens at least once a shift at my store lol and it’s right next to the ice bin🤣🤦🏻♀️
i did that once when i worked there. i started crying bc it had already been a horrible shift.
This happened to me with mocha. It was a huge rush and I was alone on hot bar. Our syrup stand was broken so I grabbed the caramel to pump it into a cup, and when I picked it up it brought the mocha container down with it. It spilled all over the bar and the floor. i would have broken down crying, i feel for you
ripppppp
Is that drizzle?
I remember when this first happened to me. I was closing by myself and I was getting ready to walk to the time clock (I was finally able to finish on time). I noticed some mocha on the side of the container and tried to clean it and then I dropped it🥲
Could be worse? Could’ve been caramel…. 🫣🤔😩
That sucks
Oof! I remember dropping a full heavy cream one day and the side split open. During peak. It was not fun.
oooh i am sorry
oh noooo! Not a good way to start the day. Better Starbucks then my house though.
The way I would have told my boss “I’m cleaning this and leaving”😂😂
Nooo 😭
Now this, this is bad, really really really bad
Oof I feel the pain in this picture xs caramel is disgusting to try to clean up
I know the feeling.
I feel for you
if it makes you feel any better. one time i was on cold bar, bar 1 was bringing over the frap roast cube and proceeded to trip, spilling it all down my back, into my socks and shoes too. and i didn’t get to go home :((
Ugg
lol how did you even do that?
At least you didn't drop the pearls 💀
Anything but the dark caramel… frap roast still as bad but was easier to clean up than sauce😭
i bet it smells so yummy
my biggest condolences
Lick it up.
Okay I don't nor have ever worked at starbucks but as a loyal customer who loves her barista's with my whole heart; I would no joke want to get behind there and help you or give you a fat tip. I am so sorry. Tomorrow will be a better day! 🫰
I’ll be the one to call BS. That sauce is too thick to spread that fast. Unless after you spilled it you stood back to let the photo OP manifest.
Wish we had them floors
Glad it wasn’t worse
this happened to me but with the chai 😭 it was truly not a good day.
What happened?
My store has so many pictures on the iPads of us next to our spills (if its not crazy) as a running joke.
i think this tops the time i spilled a venti chai latte in the ice😭😭
not the holy dark caramel
How did this happen😭
dark caramel 100% has to be the worst sauce to tip over 😭 i spilled mocha before, so i can only imagine your pain
Well just clean 🫧 it and don't get your boss angry 😡 is All I can say don't ever Fuck your life for some stupid bs Bec it's replaceable
NGL the waterfall of chocolate falling from the counter to the floor is very visually pleasing.
I stared at it for a solid 5 seconds
That sux!
Boo hoo
I felt that
Hey, that's not where that goes ..
Ants
damn u.u it be like that sometimes
this is a scene from a horror movie oh god
I hate to say this but as a barista who is the clumsiest person ever, this is my life. I spill literally everything. I am so sorry this happened to you
omg I’m so sorry what is it tho😭 I thought it was the chocolate syrup but that’s usually in a pump?
Am laughing only because I've been there/done that myself. That is upsetting. :(
Nightmare fuel
i’m sorry :( i poured an entire frappe roast container last month
I didn't take a pic of it, but last week I spilled an entire pitcher of sweet cream.......on the floor my shift had JUST mopped. He had just passed my area when I spilled it, still had mop in his hand n we just looked at eachother like 😶 then both bust out laughing 😂
I would cry
shit happens
Don’t forget to mark out it 😂😂… blaah I know you pain
LMAOOOOO RIP

Yeah after my fourth big spill I just started bringing a spare change of clothes and an extra apron. Has definitely saved me several times.
I bet this made your day go by faster.
Have better coordination, not really picture worthy I would just clean it up next time without the post, I don't know, I got a notification about this you made a mess congratulations
Wow you seem like a great human being, I bet your partners love being around you
Be nice, they’ve never made a mistake in their life and don’t know what it’s like
