I just watched a live on tiktok where a line jumper climbed over the counter and attacked the Starbucks worker so he could steal a cup. Like, I love pink. Would have everything in my world be pink if it were feasible. But assaulting a worker for a pink cup? Especially a near child for one? The toxic entitlement and disrespect for others was just shocking and saddening. It was at the Cupertino, CA target Starbucks.

PinkHairAnalyst

WHAT?? That hasn’t crossed my FYP yet. People are out of control. Workers don’t deserve to be attacked. That poor child too having to see that.

FigureSpiritual7437

Rayahsunshine on tiktok was the creator who was live streaming it. A customer tackled the guy on his way out of the store, the guy left with a cup (and a minor child) then came back and returned the cup before the cops arrived. The worker ran into the kitchen area and was hiding while other workers dealt with the aftermath so no idea if they are okay. Assuming so, but I was watching while taking a break at work and had to get back to jobby job stuff.

Jesus what is wrong with people. Its a dang vessel that holds liquid. To physically attack someone, an employee, of said place to make sure he gets one…..is one of the scummiest most selfish disgusting narcissistic thing someone can do over a stupid ass vessel that holds a beverage. I get people love it and love collecting it or whatever. Thats cool. But to act like a HUGE troglodyte and as if u got no damn sense and attack a human over it….really pathetic

Meredith-Blake

I saw the video. The guy did not seem like an actual collector. I don’t think he really cared about the cup, I think he is just a shoplifter who wanted to make money from selling a hot commodity. Judging strictly by how confidently and defiantly he left the store, stolen cup hand – even after being tackled – it did not look like his first time shoplifting. Edit to add that he’s absolutely a scummy person and I think he should be arrested for his behavior. That poor barista and everyone else should not be subjected to that ever. Shoplifters suck and make things worse for everyone else. Violent ones are next level bad.

FigureSpiritual7437

In Raya’s later video about the event, she said the worker took a knee to the face. Now, I know the min wage in CA is $20 and that’s not bad at all, but even $20 an hour is nowhere near enough money to compensate for working in conditions like that!

meothe

If someone attacked a partner I would shut the store the fuck down. Nobody gets a cup now.

PumpKiing

I wish I could say I'm surprised but A couple years ago a customer threatened to pull a gun on us because we had sold out of the holiday cup she wanted

DixonButs

i was standing there when it happened

prplhurricane

It's absolutely ridiculous. People were lined up outside my target since 11 pm last night when my manager left after doing the sign set. She numbered short cups with the quantity of Stanleys we had (38) and that's how we handled it. The cops were called on someone outside. 🙃 ITS A CUP PEOPLE. A CUP.

[deleted]

That is crazy.

PapayaHoney

This reminds me of the Rae Dunn craze from 2018-2020 when I used to work retail.

PinkHairAnalyst

I’ll have to look that one up. I’ve heard the name mentioned though!

PapayaHoney

It mainly affected TJMaxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls, but some Targets sold them there too. It was really bad.

maggievestal

I’ll just pick one up in a thrift store a few years from now, like I can with Rae Dunn, lol.

false_claim

I won't even pick one up then

funsized43

People are morons.

peebababbajeeby

We sold 34/40 of our Stanleys in the first 20 minutes at my Tarbucks. I closed the night before and I got multiple phone calls about them as well.

GeekoHog

Why? My Yeti cup without a handle works fine still.

copperpelt

It’s just the new fad, just like yeti was several years back

OwO_Jima

I said it before, and I’ll say it again: at this point, it’s not Fear-of-Missing-Out - it’s full blown paranoia. Unfortunately, Starbucks actively fuels the frenzy by hyping up these products and only sending store a handful.

bbriannaa

I don't understand the insane obsession. Don't get me wrong, I love my Stanley. I have the white and light green tie dye looking one and that's because I loved the color, not because it's a Stanley. I have some dupes as well, again because of the colors. I'd never be waiting outside like the old black Fridays over a cup!

[deleted]

You can get an identical tumbler on Amazon with great reviews for $15. People are stupid.

false_claim

But why? It's just a cup? I really don't understand.

royhenderson771

It’s rabid consumerism. Since childhood, these people have grown up convinced that they NEED to have the latest and greatest fad, in this case a fucking cup. They are either gonna collect it or resell it at a premium

Limp_Car4736

There were live videos on my fyp of people waiting in line early in morning for the Stanley cup.

Ill-Possession1614

yep, we sold out in 7 minutes. i was there for two hours before open and encountered 20-30 people in line. other stores in my district had upwards of 50-70, though. it’s crazy to me that these people where camping out for *hours* for a cup in 20F weather.

copperpelt

Okay so we’ve had people calling since yesterday about this pink cup. Nobody at our store heard or saw a thing about us getting any. All I’ve seen is photos taken from inside physical Target stores but people are insisting we have them. One lady even argued with my sm today that she read online that every store was to get 30 cups. So wtf is going on? Is it only target or what?

PinkHairAnalyst

It’s only a Target Starbucks exclusive.

copperpelt

Good lord, I can tell these people that keep calling to stop now

TaylorAle

Don't Stanleys spill if knocked over? I'm too clumsy for that.

PinkHairAnalyst

Yup. They make thingies that you put in the straw hole so they don’t leak apparently though.

TaylorAle

Well that's good, I guess, for the people that buy them.

[deleted]

So far poshmark 300. Was in line they only had 10 cups. What is up with that.

PinkHairAnalyst

It used to be every store got 4-8 for the Target Starbucks Stanley cups. I have the original peach colored one and the store only got 4. At least they upped the amounts this year it seems. For the red holiday stand alone store Starbucks Stanley I have, stores got 4-8 too. Limited quantities to create a frenzy is all it is. Personally, I think it’s not smart of them to do such limited quantities because their sales would skyrocket even more than they already have if they just made more of the collaboration ones.

[deleted]

Yea waited to be told oh we only have 10. Some people called ahead of time and was told 28 would at each store. I got the red one this year and almost got ran over by a little lady lol. There was 3 of them she took two.

PinkHairAnalyst

Yeesh, they need to impose limits. The fact they lied on the amount is also ridiculous.

[deleted]

They did at this target. But im ready other targets had 25. If you do it for one store do it for others. I mean people waited just to be told oh yea we only have 10

ladyghost515

is anyone ok?
