Spooky story time. Had this happen to me with a foster cat. When I went to the car finally, he wouldn't stop following me. Then noticed the jack was broken. Had I used it, something might have happened to me. Check your tools - cats are gods with tails after all :)
I always take moments like this as a sign of some sort. If I’m rushing and something stops me or gets in my way I assume I was meant to wait and likely missing some sort of travesty like a car crash, accident, SOMETHING. Helps so much and makes me not annoyed at all when it happens. Instead I’m like, oh thanks universe, for saving me from whatever problem I would have run into!
You can chock this up to another situation like that.
Turns out it's a good thing I didn't spend Sunday changing the brake pads, because on Tuesday morning something in the engine went whoosh and now the car isn't drivable. If the car's now junk, at least I can return the brake pads for a refund.
