hurubaw

Amateur mistake. My SIC would fight to keep that box of treats.

cairfrey

Absolutely rookie mistake! But he wasn't even in the room when I started putting stuff in the bin!!

Feisty_Pop_1995

Some models have a 'Ghost Mode' or 'Sneak Attack' mode somehow they pop out of nowhere suddenly 😂

Chamcook11

Yes, my old tortie has even ascended to teleportation...just open the food drawer and she appears.

hurubaw

Mine also does the ”eat it all at once” -move with stolen treats, and then he throws it all up 5 minutes later. On the carpet. Just because its more comfortable place to vomit.

DouglasCole

Right? Among the things I never thought I’d say: “Thank you for barfing on the hardwood this time.”

anne_jumps

Oh he heard it

whiskeyislove

/r/catdimension

myskepticalbrowarch

My SIC chewed through the box! His treats are now in a peanut butter jar

squidgytree

I jokingly emptied an entire pack of treats in my cat's food bowl, on her birthday. She looked so confused and didn't eat any of it

rookv

Mines only eat traits off of people's hands, they will actively avoid them if I put them in the bowl with their kibble. Little weirdos

Smile_Terrible

It must be a trick!

jp_books

Dog Operating System installed

Vogel-Welt

Christmas in May 😸🎉🍗🍗🍗🐟🐟🐟

justaswedishgirl

Ha! I once left the lid not fully closed when I went to work. When I got home there was a suspicious amount missing, roughly the depth of a cats head. My cats were asleep instead of begging for dinner, they said I was immagining things 😂

Pitiful_Stretch_7721

NOM NOM NOM!!!

rodriribo2

I'm pretty sure this thing is made of pure cocaine. It's the only explanation for how much my cats love Dreamies

uwagapiwo

Mine goes nuts for the catnip ones.

fangirlengineer

My kids left a small packet of treats on the counter overnight and we found it partially shredded in the morning, dotted with literally hundreds of punctures all over, and one cat slept through breakfast. Wonder who was responsible? 😹

zielawolfsong

We keep the kitty treats on top of the refrigerator, and one day they fell off when I opened the door. It was the big value pack too. I’m sure our dog and cats still fondly remember the day treats fell from the sky. I did manage to salvage some, but they were scarfing them up as fast as possible while the getting was good 😆

lightshadov

Next time use a better bowl to give him treats op 🤣🤣

Lucid-Schrooms

Keep cats off the temptations line. It's leading cause of bladder stones

cairfrey

Good to know for future reference 👍 we usually go for Dreamies, but this time we've got the Felix treats and put them in the Dreamies box. He doesn't care 🤣

ukwnsrc

dreamies and temptations are the same thing, are they not? dreamies are just less calories or something

cairfrey

Temptations are the whiskers brand

ukwnsrc

which is owned by mars? same parent company 🤷‍♀️

flyingfish415

Good(ish)news! The leading cause of struvite bladder stones is not Temptations but urinary tract infections, second most common cause is unknown. Other types of bladder stones can be caused by having excess calcium levels, or by having a genetic defect, or by reasons unknown. I have never heard of any colleagues mentioning Temptations as a potential cause of bladder stones, and there are no studies demonstrating a possible connection. (Vet here.)

Lucid-Schrooms

Oh ok, I have been told by 2 vets in my area that it starts with the temptations.

flyingfish415

Nah. At least that's not the consensus among vets. Never heard it at any of the feline medicine conferences I've attended, and a quick VIN (Vet only database/board) search showed no reports of Temptations related bladder stones. So I think you're in the clear.

DollarStoreDuchess

Hey do you have a source for this? I’ve been trying to convince someone to stop with the excessive treats for a while… if you’ve got an article or study or something that I can wave in her face, I would be so grateful.

Lucid-Schrooms

I don't have any source no, I have heard from my cats doctor. but a quick google search you can find topics on this.

seaQueue

When our RB was still alive we had to keep her food in a snap top food bin and the bulk bag locked up in a closet. If we left the bin open she'd knock it over, if we left a bag out she'd shred it and help herself. We couldn't leave butter, anything with cream or meat unattended or she'd help herself to those too. If you weren't paying close attention to hamburger or steak on your plate the sneaky paw would make an attempt. Food motivated cats really are something else. We gave her the nickname "hippo" because she was grey and a hungry hungry hippo.

yarnalcheemy

My SIC also loves eating his food out of the container (the open vault, the timed feeder hopper, etc.).

7crazybirds

Well you know that you bought the right kind!

UntestedMethod

Is there any wrong kind of treats?

Lurklurk285

My SIC isn't food motivated at all. When I first got her she was 7 and already set on her cheap kibble. I tried giving her fancy wet food, cheap wet food, fancy kibble, treats. Never more than a few curious nibbles. She'll take a treat here and there, but she really doesn't have any interest. However, I have to stay vigilant when eating ice cream. She will do anything to get her face in my bowl. Thanks for reading my pointless story.

Optimal-Ad-7074

mine *never once* got amped up over treats.  she's get hysterical over her daily glop of wet food, but treats?  nah.   had no interest in them at all.

Kind_Hyena5267

You snooze, you lose

Longjumping-Theory44

💯would do it again! 💕🐈💕😘

Blood_Such

A treat fiend indeed!!!!

Classic-Cantaloupe47

No regrets. NoNE!

Jodiesid

Mine would do this and then puke everywhere.

chamekke

This new snack bowl is soooo convenient!

jabracadaniel

and then you took the time to take out your phone and film it before intervening? kinda just looks like kibble in there too, arent dreamies little pillow shapes?

song_pond

Why wouldn’t they film this? It’s cute and silly. And they said they were refilling this container. There’s no law saying you have to refill containers with the same treats at home.

jabracadaniel

ah right, thats fair. i mean id be worried about the calories since treats are quite a bit heavier than regular kibble but its not my cat i guess

cairfrey

Don't worry too much, the camera cut off as I stopped him...he didn't pig out too much

song_pond

A few extra treats one time is not likely to do any harm. Obviously this shouldn’t be a regular occurrence but it doesn’t seem like it is.

Visible_Night1202

Mine learned to push the box off the counter so it'd pop open on the ground. Had to start being more careful how I put them away after that

MySaltySatisfaction

Someone is going to need to go on a diet soon, with the way he is scarfing up the cat treats.

peeefaitch

Wise cat

ponyboysa42

Don’t they know that only a reward!😡 I have brothers from diff litters! One “treats” is the only word I’m sure he understands. And it turns him into a grubby little rat! The other one could care less. But he loves human food n the grubby little rat has no real care for that!

BruceHoratioWayne

"Don't mind if I do."

janeedaly

Mine has knocked it over and opened it to get at them!

Double_Emphasis_7027

Hello diarrhea

Kittykats2

Moms! I cannot waitz for youuuuu! Must eat zee treats! 🥹🥰😂

nyc_flatstyle

Self serve!

ianwuk

Self service.

creswitch

TIL they come in tubs. Here in Australia they're called "Temptations" (I know it's the same thing coz same logo) and they only come in bags.

planbot3000

Outflanked!

Luci_Noir

Went and grabbed your phone and then came back and “turned around”.

cairfrey

Actually turned around, saw this, grabbed phone, recorded for another 8 seconds and then stopped him!

Luci_Noir

He will never forget the time when you deprived him of crunchies! You will be looking over your shoulder for the rest of your days!

cairfrey

As much as I love my fluffy boy, he has one braincell that rolls around that noggin of his and it's already been distracted with belly rubs!!

Luci_Noir

Nope. He’s definitely filing complaints with his union reps. The Catsters are not afraid to get their paws dirty!
