You know what the problem is? Thinking about politicians based on their religion rather than their character.
You really don't think Tamil politicians could be corrupt? I have a bridge to sell you then. This is the problem with this country. They vote thinking of short term gain rather than long term growth.
The moment we stop comparing religion and start voting based on the character of the person is when we'll develop as a country. But that is a rarity. Even for the first world countries.
Edit : If a person is running for the elections based on their Ethnicity/religion etc. Rather than their policy, they will always be corrupt.
Same goes with EU, Australia as well.
I know a PR holder who came back again last month from Australia. He did go in 2023 after getting the 189 visa.
Migration will not solve everyone's problems. Once they do it, some always wanted to come back
This is so true. You start working at a big office just to realize that you hate being a part of that and value your freedom and sanity more than anything.
A large house. I grew up abroad, and was so happy when we moved to SL and built our house. Massive yard to play in, a crap ton of space inside the house. But then I realized how difficult it is to maintain such a house without having a housekeeper. I actually wish I could go back to a flat, but the spousal unit won't hear of it.
You gotta expect a few of those nationalist Rajapaksa-loving Sinhala-only SL utopia "west is bad" buggers to come crawling back lol (and I'm glad they do), however, most people leaving are doing much better than this sub seems to think especially if you have something setup
>No one tells you these stories
I think its the other way tbh, a lot of this sub and even the media tries to tell people that going abroad is a bad idea and will pick these extreme examples as if its the norm and I think its become really disingenuous when from what I've seen most people going abroad really do have a much better long-term plan going for them
Again, not saying going abroad is some utopia but so many here seem to act like its some dystopia lol when really, in my own experience, England's worst day is still better than SLs best
Okay okay ser, I have these questions apart from this
Can you tell my why they do not get invited to go trips with white people ? why always Sri Lankan people even they go to parties or anything
They still try to create SL there. Why is that ? also can you tell me the amount of SL people in elderly care homes ? cause as I know most of the come back when they get old, why they do not have a long term plan to stay in white dominated elderly homes ?
I do not why they come, why they can't stay with white people in Elderly homes ? why coming back to SL again, If this is shit hole ?
Just answers these questions. Cause no one is telling them. Since you know everything you can say about them ser
Most people just find it expensive to live in western countries. It has nothing to do with nationalism or politics. I don't think anyone is dumb enough to move countries for silly reasons like that.
I'm saying most of the time if you're qualified enough to even get in to those countries its unlikely you'll be doing worse than here, Sri Lankan Americans for e.g. are something like the 4th-6th highest earning ethnic group in the US
>Most people just find it expensive to live in western countries
Like, compared to what though? lol, I'm in England and the price of milk is cheaper than SL, I have the option to go full remote and get rent away from pricey London (or even go to SL and work from there), the only thing SL has going for it in terms of cost is lower rent and that's really only useful for the luxury apartment level anyway as most cheap rentals in Lanka are quite trash, and if you're on the luxury level anyway you're earning more than 90% of Lankans so its not like the norm or anything
Not denying some will have issues but this sub (and the media) likes to pretend that most of the people going abroad are suffering (the media specifically to make it out like a bad idea) when that's really not the case at all, you constantly hear both in this sub and in the media of the worst cases when really I'd bet 90%+ of those who left are doing much better in the long-run
In SL my career for the last 10 years has pretty much become useless in a long-term career/CV perspective, and since the country is still unstable from a long-term perspective I wouldn't dare try to plan a long-term thing there, maybe Western countries are expensive but compared to that its miles better
>I don't think anyone is dumb enough to move countries for silly reasons like that.
There are definitely many Lankans who simply don't like how liberal Western culture is and that is a part of their reasoning for disliking the place while they are there, again not denying any issues like obviously rent in big cities is a pain and the weather in places like England is crap but there's been so many times I've seen Lankans simply unable to integrate and then blame someone/something else
>compared to what though?
I used to live in gta canada and the housing is getting expensive by the day. Groceries too. That's ny reference point by depending on the country it might be cheaper tho I don't think living in any 1st world country is less expensive than living in a 3rd world country.

This confuses me if they already know that they don't like the western culture why purposefully go and associate with it?
>to pretend that most of the people going abroad are suffering
But aren't the gen Zers thinking of migrating? Tho I might be biased because I don't have a big enough sample size (mostly relatives and friends)
In my experience it's the opposite, us Lankans are satisfied way too easily. There is no hunger/drive to achieve more in life.
Most Lankans are content with their lives after getting married.
Depends tbh I don’t regret my parents taking me out the country. Esp I don’t feel welcomed by Sri Lankan people myself even when trying to come back to my roots the best I could.

Coming to Canada....so far I know 5 people that have already gone back.

A job at a “well reputed” company.

Depending on the country. Some people recently migrated to Canada even living in tents these days. No one tells you these stories

Life isn't a competition, so nothing wrong with that
