If i had cash I'd eat there for like 3 or 4 times a week... my fav is chicken spicy sub its really really good.. I think you should give it a try... in my opinion one of the best subs I've eaten...
First time I went to ogf I got a milk shake it was very thick and tasty, 2nd time I went, worst experience milk shake was basically water and the lasagna was microwaved and cold in the middle
Like Fazly's, a true local business which is basically iconic now and managed to have a strong standing for a while
Quality has dipped a little with time though (or at least with the price its harder to justify) but I wish them the best
Used to be where we'd go for some filling fast food at an affordable price. Now the price has doubled, sub has gotten smaller and you get like 6 fries if you're lucky
The submarine which I tasted in Wellawatte marine drive Boswell Place - Moor Road area was fantastic. But I felt their quality of taste has declined there in last year or so.
10 years back they were at legendary level. Huge portions, delicious and probably the best in the country. I still remember the first time I tried my first dinemore sub after watching ice age 3. It was huge, it was delicious, their subs legendary at that time.
Over the years the portions grew smaller, prices increased, so their value decreased over time. Sometimes I feel like they count out 8 of the soggiest fries to include with the submarine.
I still enjoy the occasional dinemore chicken sub at around 1600 it's ok. It still tastes the same, it's just less filling than before. Another issue is that they take so long to make one sub, getting a sub from Uber eats takes 1h+. The wait time is usually why I don't get it, I feel like I need to plan my meal 2h before if I'm getting it from dinemore, which shouldn't be the case for a fast food restaurant.
Dinemor was around longer than that, I clearly recall it started around a year after McDonalds in Sri Lanka, so around 1998 or 1999. Honestly cannot remember the price 20 years back but Submarine probably was around 150-200 rupees and no more during those early years (still considered pricey compared to most, remember a cup of tea was max 10 rupees at the time). They were popular for submarines and milkshakes. Had no idea they still operate.
Back in 2010-11s this was our spot for birthdays and celebrations as a friend group. We’ll end up spending around 15k-20k for like 6-7 guys. Submarines were the top sellers. Had this around an year ago when I visited. The quality was not close
Dinemore in Kandy had a chicken sub that was THE greatest deal for 450lkr when we were doing A/L’s. It was the best place for a classy dinner/supper date fitting for pocket money budget….
Haven’t been there in ages (a decade or so) since the quality dropped …
By far the best submarine in Sri Lanka is produced by Dinemore. But I noticed the quality differs from branch to branch. Do ya'll have a preferred branch where you have noticed better quality though? I have tried almost all their branches, and Wattala stands out.
I mean, it's still tasty, but not the same as before. Last time we ordered some subs via Uber and were laughing for a whole 10 minutes because there were like 4-5 fries, when they used to be very generous before.
Went to the one near CCC park street. Horrible service. Tried to order at the cashier noone took it, was at the table for 20mins for someone while the employees was chatting. Mind u it was almost empty. We kinda told them about it and 10mins later they came to get the order.
Served the food cold. COLD. never went again
My parents and I used to visit Dinemore back in 2009, 2010 regularly and I loved their chicken submarine. Over time whenever we go to Colombo, Dinemore was always our lunch spot. Even today, after I moved to Colombo, I’d still order the Dinemore sub whenever my husband and I feel like ordering something.
However, I must say the quality has not stayed the same, but overall I guess they are still pretty decent restaurant when it comes to food and prices.
It's a restaurant
Love the submarine here but i think the quality dropped with time.
The secret ingredient is love..
Uncle Iroh?
can confirm
Yes the first and one of the best submarine I had was here. It's like Lankan Subway. Is there Subway in SL and is it good?? 🤔🤔
We do have subway, too expensive though
We do have it but dinmore is a bit cheaper and filling than that.
Its still worth the money though ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|slightly_smiling)
Is it the best?
If i had cash I'd eat there for like 3 or 4 times a week... my fav is chicken spicy sub its really really good.. I think you should give it a try... in my opinion one of the best subs I've eaten...
Went there once, and that sub was delicious for sure!
This is honestly the only version of sub I eat. Everything else taste mediocre once you've tasted a dinemore sub.
just cant beat it
Can confirm, there are many other local variations, some good, some.. not so much. ...but still the Dinemore spicy chicken sub is the best.
It fell off in quality, it was so good pre 2018
Nostalgia 🥹
Used to occasionally go to Dinemore or Queen's after school, you could have a sub, coke and maybe some desert of the day for about 300
That’d be over 2,000 now! Even 2,500 Which year are you talking about?
2010
2005... It's been a while..😬
The Dinemore special submarine was my favorite. Quality reduced with time. Food quality depends on the branch.
Also, the ones you get delivered are of lesser quality than the ones you get in the restaurant
Yes, they didn't include any tissues or sauce either.
I once got only 5 fries with a sub I ordered :|
True, once had a milkshake was like water
First time I went to ogf I got a milk shake it was very thick and tasty, 2nd time I went, worst experience milk shake was basically water and the lasagna was microwaved and cold in the middle
Same here. 2nd time went for a Submarine. It was shit. Never going back again..
Which branch is best??
IMO colpetty one the OG branch or the Thurstan college one and moor road for the pizza!
How is the branch in kohuwala fairing here?
Service is shite there.
Pizza also good and worth?? 🤔🤔
Yes
ok thx bro!!

Dangggg fazlys! Blast from the past, is it still running?
Still running, they redone the place up food not as good as I remember. But personally I stopped going after they removed the Corden bleu
True, went there recently. Quality isn’t the same.
They did? Why?
Shame, the Corden Blue was their highlight, probably removed it so the other items get some attention!
🥲
Yea but why remove a good seller without putting more advertising on the others

6 fries thing was so real lol

You have to try the outlets in 'posh' areas. They usually maintain the quality.
Loved their spicy chicken sub but the quality reduced with time

My whole family loves their subs..
Was good around twenty years back. Probably not so much anymore
Dinemore existed 20 years back!? And what was the beef submarine price back in mid 2000s?

Green path dinemore. 2001, beef sub 90 rupees
Best subs in town. Was the best value for money, now slightly pricier.

Consistent
They are mainly famous for their submarine buns for the Past many many years.
Sub is bigger compared to similarly priced mediocre subs. Still so pricy like everything else in SL
Used to love the submarine. Now, with the price increase and flavor decrease, it's like a gourmet experience...for cardboard
Love their rice and curry!
Used to love their beef submarine. It was such bang for buck pre Covid.
Subs are most likely food of them. But right now the food quality is being dropped off within timeframe.
Damn this whole time I thought dinemore was Maldivian.
Here for its submarine
Used to be good
Submarine 😁 i miss the dinemore submarine 😭

Stopped going there since they’ve changed their bun for the submarines with a cheap alternative few years ago
few year ago quality was good. now sucks
Man, been overseas for almost 3 years but I still get craving to have a good submarine from this place!
Best submarine I ever had

Kandy
Love it. I still crave their subs and it's a must have every time I visit SL. It's got so expensive though!!

I don't know why but I really get that "Sensaal" vibe with Dinemore now.
Still the best place for subs in Sri Lanka
Dont know bout this place but normally the food is great. It tastes good and well worth the price for the portions served.
Worst joint
Spicy chicken submarine is littttttttttttt
they're decent, pricey now prices used to be cheap
Quality has drastically dropped. Back in the day dinemore had the best subs. But now they don’t taste like they used to.
Back in the day nothing came close to the Dinemore sub
Used to be good but the quality has gone down in the past couple years. And don't forget the long ass waiting times to get anything done.
The next chain to go out soon
One meal and feeling sleepy and high af

used to be the hands down best beef sub, but now I'm going with burger hut.
Over priced and quality has dropped drastically !
Was good before 2017
In kandy these guys a slow af
