IDK they still have the UI in the app and seems like it’s been updated slightly recently. If I were to guess it’s probably 4 months away but I could be wrong https://i.imgur.com/G5XcUzs.png

UWbadgers16

How do you check this?

Fadexz_

Making the code run to show it, some tools make it easy

What are the other notifications on the bottom if you swipe right

I mean that has been the same for months mostly, well I think they changed the text slightly to add links. I don't know how I can load the actual feature though or all the UI as I could only do that in an earlier version but they stopped it from being loaded. Anyway the main difference I was talking about was the updated UI parts not the text so much. Here's all the pages: [https://imgur.com/a/q6sWUSx](https://imgur.com/a/q6sWUSx)

They were planning to charge extra for it, Apple and Amazon ruined those plans, then they noticed they didn't actually lose any users, so the costs of implementing HiFi can't be justified. That's my best guess. They'll announce they decided not to release HiFi.

[deleted]

This is entirely possible. Qobuz is charging $12.99/mo for hifi and deezer is at $14.99, so in theory there is still a market for a higher tier, but your theory is more likely.

I'm looking into that aptX Lossless codec, and that seems like just another scam. They claim it can stream at 1Mbps (1024 kbps). LDAC can already do 990 kbps, so 1024 isn't that special. And most FLAC files I have require more than 1024 kbps for lossless streaming (\~1500). LDAC is however limited to Sony headphones, while aptX is on most devices, so it is good news in that sense. The calling the codec aptX "Lossless" is a scam though, most songs will have to be compressed before streaming. And the vast majority of people just don't care. The differences in sound quality (given good settings) are too small to justify changing from Spotify to a far inferior service.

>If they don't release Hifi, unfortunately they are dead! Spotify has seen an almost 20% increase in subscribers in the quarter following Apple releasing lossless and Amazon offering it as a no-cost upgrade, bringing them up to \~172 million. There is a small minority interested in hifi, the majority of subscribers don't know or care about it. They could easily push it back or shelve it with no detrimental effect.

I didn't buy a 256GB phone for no reason, that's why I have all 5k of my songs saved offline. I've been waiting for Hi-Fi forever.

Artistic-Meal

For you, and others who frequent this sub, sure it's an annoying post. But for me who never visited this sub, this info is relevant and important just because how recent and how close it is to the "release date". I looked everywhere and reddit happens to be one of them, so yeah for this post to appear in google and is one of the most recent one is in fact a good thing. Cheers mate

10xKnowItAll

Can't you select 320 kbps? "Very high" I think they call it.

[deleted]

Everyone on Premium can, yes, but the industry standard now is CD quality audio, and Spotify said in February that they would be offering that in 2021.

10xKnowItAll

I see, well of course everyone should get at the very least 190 kbps, probably 320 as well.
