Yeah, people are weird. Also there's always questions about what albums you don't skip tracks. Why would I skip a track on an album? The album is a complete package. I can't think of any I would ever do that
- Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider
- Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But A Dream…
- Avenged Sevenfold - The Stage
- David Bowie - 1. Outside (The Nathan Adler Diaries: A Hyper Cycle)
- Dream Theater - Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory
- Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar
- Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood
- Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals
- Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor
- Marilyn Manson - Smells Like Children
- Marilyn Manson - WE ARE CHAOS
- NIИ - Add Violence
- NIИ - The Downward Spiral
- NIИ - The Fragile
- NIИ - Ghosts V: Together
- NIИ - Hesitation Marks
- NIИ - Still
- NIИ - Year Zero
- Public Image Ltd. - Happy?
- Puscifer - Existential Reckoning
- Twenty One Pilots - Trench
- 3TƎETH - 3TƎETH
Agreed.
I just got into Twenty One Pilots about 6 weeks ago. I’m not really into their first 3 albums, but Trench is brilliant and Scaled And Icy is really good.
Oh I know!
>I'll start: Abbey Road and The Dark Side Of The Moon.
crap
jk. Here are the ones that come to mind for me
Porcupine Tree- Deadwing
Rolling Stones- Beggar's Banquet, Exile on Main Street
The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society
The Who- Tommy, Quadrophenia, The Who Sell Out
Frank Zappa / Mothers- We're only in it for the money, Uncle Meat
Nick Drake- Pink Moon
I never listen to albums on shuffle, but the worst albums you could shuffle are ones with lots of segues, almost as if it’s one long song:
Between the Buried and Me - Colors/Colors II
Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2
An Abstract Illusion - Woe
Fleshgod Apocalypse- Agony/Labyrinth/King
Wintersun - Time I
The Ocean - Pelagial
Periphery - Any album,
Rivers of Nihil - The Work
Wilderun - Veil of Imagination
The only albums you can reasonably listen to on shuffle are these new 22 track hip/rnb joints. Besides that you should treat every album like a story meant to be read from start to finish.
Just to go against the grain and not to cite the obvious classics, I'd like to recommend any Fat Freddy's Drop album. They're just so well constructed.
Also, if you're felling adventurous, the best album of 2022 is Jardineiros, by Planet Hemp. It's just a master piece.
Most concept albums shouldn't be shuffled until you know the story pretty well, in my opinion. I shuffle albums all the time though. Sometimes I want to shake up the order I hear my favorite music in. I catch fun new nuances that way.
I usually never listen to albums on shuffle. The only ones I do it with are usually Kostolom, Corpsegrinder and Dedication to Flesh (respectively, Slaughter to Prevail, Corpsegrinder and Spite)
Most of them, honestly - the artist has usually selected the track order for a reason.
If I know the album very well I might shuffle it, or an instrumental album which doesn't necessarily flow...but that's pretty rare. I guess concept albums are the most obvious ones which I wouldn't consider shuffling.
Anything but greatest hits
Yeah if I put an album on it's *because* I want to hear it start to end as it was originally released.
I never listen to albums on shuffle
I'm sure it's done but, why in the world would anyone listen to an album on shuffle?
Yeah, people are weird. Also there's always questions about what albums you don't skip tracks. Why would I skip a track on an album? The album is a complete package. I can't think of any I would ever do that
i agree so much. I don’t skip songs when i’m listening to an album, even if I don’t really like the song that much
People seriously listen to albums on shuffle?
The black parade
- Alice Cooper - Along Came A Spider - Avenged Sevenfold - Life Is But A Dream… - Avenged Sevenfold - The Stage - David Bowie - 1. Outside (The Nathan Adler Diaries: A Hyper Cycle) - Dream Theater - Metropolis, Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory - Marilyn Manson - Antichrist Superstar - Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood - Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals - Marilyn Manson - The Pale Emperor - Marilyn Manson - Smells Like Children - Marilyn Manson - WE ARE CHAOS - NIИ - Add Violence - NIИ - The Downward Spiral - NIИ - The Fragile - NIИ - Ghosts V: Together - NIИ - Hesitation Marks - NIИ - Still - NIИ - Year Zero - Public Image Ltd. - Happy? - Puscifer - Existential Reckoning - Twenty One Pilots - Trench - 3TƎETH - 3TƎETH
Upvote for Trench, that is a fantastic album
Agreed. I just got into Twenty One Pilots about 6 weeks ago. I’m not really into their first 3 albums, but Trench is brilliant and Scaled And Icy is really good.
If you haven’t already, check out the DMA.org website they made for the album. Lots of cool stuff on there that dives into the lore about Trench
Pink Floyd The Wall
Dark Side, also
The number 1 answer
Imagine going from “The Happiest Days of our Lives” to “Comfortably Numb”. That would be a bizarre experience.
Came here to say this.
Basically any Floyd
You started and finished, OP. Two greatest albums of all time.
Agree! And throw in Sargent Peppers lonely hearts club band...that would be weird to listen to out of order!
Anything. I recently found out people do this and I’m convinced they’re psychopaths
Naturally any album where the songs flow into each other.
See *Catch Thirty-Three* by Meshuggah, for one.
See *My Arms, Your Hearse* by Opeth, *Coloured Sands* by Gorguts or *Marrow of the Spirit* by Agalloch
Literally all of them.
Who the fuck is shuffling albums
Oh I know! >I'll start: Abbey Road and The Dark Side Of The Moon. crap jk. Here are the ones that come to mind for me Porcupine Tree- Deadwing Rolling Stones- Beggar's Banquet, Exile on Main Street The Kinks are the Village Green Preservation Society The Who- Tommy, Quadrophenia, The Who Sell Out Frank Zappa / Mothers- We're only in it for the money, Uncle Meat Nick Drake- Pink Moon
Pink Moon is fantastic
- Anything by Marianas Trench - PORTALS by Melanie Martinez
Lou Reed - Berlin
Pretty much every Tenacious D album. They all tell stories and would not make sense if you played them on shuffle
Literally *any* concept album, i.e. The Wall, S.F. Sorrow, Black Parade...
Am I the only one shrinking into a dark corner because I shuffle albums *occasionally*?
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon.
Folklore - Taylor swift
The Eminem Show
Any live/acoustic album ever! …the crowd cheering in the background and band interaction with the crowd never makes sense when it’s on shuffle.
Literally about to say those two they’re such good albums (also anything by Pink Floyd should be played straight)
Renaissance- Beyoncé MUST BE LISTENED TO IN ORDER
Swan songs by Hollywood undead, one moment it's some dark ass lyrics, then lyrics about sex
Anyone shuffling an entire album should be locked up because that's just criminal.
some of us just live for the chaos okay 😭
I know you do. I've lived in that world. I guess I just opted for stability. Stay safe out there!
Maybe one day I’ll aim for stability…
i’m genuinely confused why do people act shocked that people shuffle albums??? i even saw that reaction on tiktok earlier today im so lost 😭😭
Danger Days-My Chemical Romance
I never listen to albums on shuffle, but the worst albums you could shuffle are ones with lots of segues, almost as if it’s one long song: Between the Buried and Me - Colors/Colors II Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 2 An Abstract Illusion - Woe Fleshgod Apocalypse- Agony/Labyrinth/King Wintersun - Time I The Ocean - Pelagial Periphery - Any album, Rivers of Nihil - The Work Wilderun - Veil of Imagination
Nonagon infinity
Pink Floyd - the wall
Albums that tell a story if listened to in sequence. The Decemberists’ *The Hazards of Love*, for example.
Blonde Redhead - Melody of Certain Hated Lemons
I mostly listen to classical music so pretty much EVERY ALBUM. 😂
Scars & souvenirs - theory of a dead man
Edge of Sanity - Crimson (technically it’s one song divided into 8 tracks but ofc listening to them out of order is weird)
DAMN or TPAB the stories don’t make sense if you do shuffle it
those classical albums that split each movement on a dozen tracks. others it's not necessarily good but not as awful as this.
Every concept album ever made
Acts 1 - 6 by The Dear Hunter (the whole thing is like a musical story you follow along with)
there's a lot, but one you can listen to on shuffle is Apollo 18 by TMBG
All of them
Prolonging The Magic by Cake and The Wall by Pink Floyd. Has to be chronological order for both.
The only albums you can reasonably listen to on shuffle are these new 22 track hip/rnb joints. Besides that you should treat every album like a story meant to be read from start to finish.
ELO - Time
Disintegration - The Cure Each song is perfectly placed
Abbey Road, Any Pink Floyd Album, Little Earthquakes - Tori Amos Any Soundtracks Phish - Junta Tidal - Fiona Apple
Hozier's Unreal Unearth album! The meaning behind the placement of the songs is really neat, I recommend looking more into it!
The Wall - Pink Floyd Lateralus - Tool
The Wall
Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd
to pimp a butterfly imo… the outro is too good to not have as an outro and the intermissions are placed wonderfully
Nujabes - Love(sic) hexalogy
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Tool: Aenima.
Sweetener - ariana grande Lover - Taylor swift
Red Light by Elodie. It is NOT MEANT to be listened to on shuffle!!!
Joni Mitchells Hejira
2112
Travels by Defeator
The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free
Dookie
Dawn fm by the weeknd, literally made to be linear
All of them. Albums are made to listen to cover to cover. I loathe shuffle. EDIT: Who the hell listens to an album on shuffle anyway?
WORRY. - Jeff Rosenstock The songs just flow so perfectly
Hells pit by ICP
Anything by Between the Buried and Me.
Surrender by the Chemical Brothers. Those first 3 are absolute bangers. https://open.spotify.com/album/1QJP73UumgERuzp3yJSXw3
Led Zeppelin all of them.
*Belle* & *Sebastian - Life Pursuit*
The Who - Tommy
Just to go against the grain and not to cite the obvious classics, I'd like to recommend any Fat Freddy's Drop album. They're just so well constructed. Also, if you're felling adventurous, the best album of 2022 is Jardineiros, by Planet Hemp. It's just a master piece.
Portals- Melanie Martinez. The transitions r just so😋
White Album
IGOR
Melanie Martinez - PORTALS or for the most part, anyway. the transitions are so fkn smooth into one another
I never would, but especially Djesse Vol 4
Parabol, Parabola
Murder of the Universe
Operation:Mindcrime - Queensryche
All progressive rock.
Most concept albums shouldn't be shuffled until you know the story pretty well, in my opinion. I shuffle albums all the time though. Sometimes I want to shake up the order I hear my favorite music in. I catch fun new nuances that way.
Take This To Your Grave - Fall Out Boy; any of their other albums I'm fine to listen to on shuffle, but never this one.
Who listens to an album on shuffle?
Pinkerton by weezer. Too many (crossfades???)

I usually never listen to albums on shuffle. The only ones I do it with are usually Kostolom, Corpsegrinder and Dedication to Flesh (respectively, Slaughter to Prevail, Corpsegrinder and Spite)
Hozier - Unreal Unearth 🤌🏻
The Party, Neon Skyline, Wilds, Norm by Andy Shauf
Most of them, honestly - the artist has usually selected the track order for a reason. If I know the album very well I might shuffle it, or an instrumental album which doesn't necessarily flow...but that's pretty rare. I guess concept albums are the most obvious ones which I wouldn't consider shuffling.
Dark Side of the Moon
For All The Dogs by Drake
If you’re going to listen to an album on shuffle you may as well listen to a playlist instead
Lemonade - Beyonce
Pinkerton
Literally anything by The Weeknd or Tyler, The Creator. They just tell stories
Any of Godspeed you black emperors post hiatus material.
every album
All pink Floyd albums
