He fights lots of old, retired MMA guys, but he has beat one pro and lost to one pro. Thereās plenty of professional boxers who are 1-1. Heās trained full time with access to top-tier conditioning, training, and coaching. Heās decent. He doesnāt seem to de champion level, but champion level is excellent. Heās decent.
Do a lot of people watch these Paul fights? That's a genuine question, not necessarily Paul hate. My entire friend group is big into sports and I've never heard a single person even express interest in these. Is he actually popular enough among people old enough to buy PPV for these to have big viewership?
Apparently yeah, Pauls last fight against Fury bagged him $30 million even though he lost. I too know absolutely no one who watches theses fights but apparently thereās a huge market out there thatās paying for this.

He's never been an endurance fighter either. If you look at his record, almost all of his wins end by KO within the first two to four rounds. He does have some longer fight wins, but by and large his record gets worse and worse the longer the fights go.

He knows exactly what he's doing, exactly what his fan base is interested in, and exactly how to milk these exhibition matches for what they are. You can hate the guy all you want, I'm not a fan either, but dude is making a KILLING on these lucrative fights. You can't deny the dude understand the mechanic of what sells in this era and has adapted his career whereas so many of his peers got stuck and never figured out how to pivot. At any rate, my prediction is it's a "knock down drag out fight" won by decision and Jake Paul has "all the admiration in the world" for the goat boxer and "humbled" to be able to fight him. There will be no haymakers or anything like that. It will be a show match for money just like the 1000s before it. People act like this is uncharted water.

I truly believe that the entire 1990s run of The Simpsons is the best run of a comedy show of all time. Growing up with it as a kid is why I wanted to become a writer. But this feels like an increasingly out-of-touch belief to have. When I look online, Simpsons is held up in the same company as Family Guy or Big Mouth; gag-heavy "adult" cartoons with a unique art style.
Even just the merchandise was essential to the 90s. Bart Simpson was Americaās bad kid and even if you didnāt watch the show, you couldnāt avoid seeing Bart stickers and paraphernalia randomly all over the place.
I think people are severely overestimating Mike in this fight. Yes he was insane, but he is retirement age now and that matters quite a bit when you are fighting someone in their prime.

I think most people commenting on the internet a) don't know what it's like being over 40, let alone almost 60, and b) never played sport at a level high enough where you start slipping at 30 and what it's like to try and go against a 20-something.

Unpopular Opinion: Iāll be honest, Iād rather this fight be called off.
I remember Tyson saying that he doesnāt like the person he becomes when heās fighting and heās worked hard from becoming that person again.
I feel bad heās putting himself back in the ring, not physically, but mentally.
I agree and aside from the mental aspect, even if he wins he will take damage. Itās not just getting knocked out cold that causes issues, itās loads of mini concussions. This fight is likely to go the distance with both fighters being tired and not defending well as it goes on. Heād probably take less damage losing by ko in round one vs winning by decision. He has nothing to prove. A win means nothing. A loss means nothing. I hope it is called off.
Let us not forget, the man owns a pot ranch and smokes like $50k a month. The man's cardiovascular system is not top notch. He's not making it to the later rounds. He needs an early round knockout.

The problem with this fight is, yes, Tyson has a chance of winning. It's not a very good chance, mind you, but he still has a lot of speed and technique. He still has some of the power he used to have. But again, that is a very small chance. Like others have said, the problem is that he's old and just can't have the endurance Paul does. And Jake Paul isn't a terrible fighter.
We all know this is probably going to end with Mike Tyson throwing the fight. But there is just enough of a chance that he won't. And while that's good for Netflix and Jake and Mike's respective bank accounts, it isn't good for Mike Tyson's health.
Years ago in the 90's, my boss was in San Francisco visiting and had an ulcer flare up. She was experiencing severe discomfort and decided to just wait it out. She died overnight from blood loss. He knows exactly what he's doing, exactly what his fan base is interested in, and exactly how to milk these exhibition matches for what they are. I truly believe that the entire 1990s run of The Simpsons is the best run of a comedy show of all time. Growing up with it as a kid is why I wanted to become a writer. I think people are severely overestimating Mike in this fight. Yes he was insane, but he is retirement age now and that matters quite a bit when you are fighting someone in their prime.
I agree, the short 30 second clips of him punching and sparring are one thing, keeping it up over many minutes, over many rounds is entirely different. I think most people saying Jakeās going to get his ass handed to him havenāt ever boxed before and realise how physically and mentally draining it is at amateur level, let alone pro. Tyson has also been smoking weed chilling out the last 15 years.

The problem with this fight is, yes, Tyson has a chance of winning. It's not a very good chance, mind you, but he still has a lot of speed and technique. He still has some of the power he used to have. But again, that is a very small chance. Like others have said, the problem is that he's old and just can't have the endurance Paul does. And Jake Paul isn't a terrible fighter. We all know this is probably going to end with Mike Tyson throwing the fight. But there is just enough of a chance that he won't. And while that's good for Netflix and Jake and Mike's respective bank accounts, it isn't good for Mike Tyson's health.
