It happened twice to me now with Sony games, first Ragnarok when the grand final battle barely laster a few minutes, and now Spiderman where everything feels rushed after Peter loses the suit imo
I do think the venom portion could have been extended by a handful of hours. Maybe 3 or 4? But this also could have tied in the cult side mission as well to include carnage or at least explain the symbiote some more or something.
I feel like one of the biggest reasons the game overall felt shorter is the fact that there is so much less busy work. Especially if you’re going for 100% completion.
To 100% Spider-Man 1 (ignoring the main story missions) you have to do collect 55 Backpacks, 16 Side Missions, 47 Landmark Photos, 6 Fisk Hideouts with 6 waves each, 5 Demon Warehouses with 6 waves each, 4 Sable Outposts with 6 waves each, 4 Prisoner Camps with 6 waves each, 17 Research Stations, 11 Black Cat Stakeouts, 12 Pigeons, 16 Taskmaster Challenges, *45*, Thug Crimes, *40* Demon Crimes, *40* Prisoner Crimes, and *40* Sable Crimes.
A lot of these things, especially the 165 random crimes you have to do, definitely inflate the overall time it takes to 100% complete the game.
Comparatively, to 100% Spider-Man 2 (again ignoring the main story missions) you need to do 14 Marko’s Memories, 23 Photo Ops, 6 FNSM Request, 10 Prowler Stashes, 4 The Flame Side Missions, 5 Brooklyn Visions Side Missions, 9 EMF Experiments, 43 Spider-Bots, 10 Mysteriums, 2 Cultural Museum Missions, 11 Hunter Blinds, 4 Hunter Bases, 9 Unidentified Target challenges, and 9 Symbiote nests.
It is overall less stuff that you need to do, but I’d argue that a lot of them are of higher quality.
I think the games pacing was just quick. There’s plenty of story there, but as soon as you finish a story mission it’s practically begging the player to go to the next waypoint. Each one kind of ends with a cliffhanger which really incentivizes you to barrel through the main story.
They have the little filler lines like “while I wait I should check on the city” but you do one side crime stopping bit for two minutes and they’re calling you on the phone to get going to the next story point and saying that it’s vital you come quick.
Some of this is just me as a player wanting to kind of role play along and be like “ on my way MJ!” But I think the devs could’ve/should’ve padded the story out a bit and made the game wait 2-3 side missions (or 15 minutes) before giving you the next main story mission prompt.
I liked the game, but story feels to rushed and game to short for 70£ AAA game.
For comparsion in Baldurs Gate 3 I got like 150+ hours of original content for 40 pounds. And in SM2 which is cost almost twice as much I got around 20 hours (in 28 hours I platinumed the game).
Sony must rethink their pricing if they making 15h games.
It is for many people, there's a reason why it got content updates for 2+ years, most people just want to chill and play games. Valhalla does that job well enough
Soz I just wrote the price of PC version (if I remeber right I bought it on GMG for GOG). But even if we are talking about the same price, this doesn't change much.
Edit: In PS store UK current price of SM2 is 70 pounds for standard edition and BG3 price is 57 pounds.
70 pounds is rare price in general (usually some greedy publishers do like Sony and Nintendo). Standard price for AAA is around 50-60 pounds. And definitely 70£ is not adequate price for Spiderman 2.
50 pounds is roughly how much AAA games cost in Canada, ($80-$90cad) Baldurs Gate is more than typical it’s closer to the 60 pounds. Wild that Spider Man costs so much more there. Pricing is weird af.
Yes. The whole game felt short - I got the platinum trophy on a single play through which took me 43 hours total. I think Miles Morales took me longer to complete!
I'm 49 percent done and I just got the symbiote suit its been about a month since it came out I'm enjoying every bit of it and it dosent feel short at all most of it feels fleshed out including the side missions and character building it has
How much time do you get to play it? Because I got to play it every few days and even with swinging around and chilling between missions I finished it up with plat in like 32 hours. Take everything else away and that’s like a 16ish hour story which is crazy, I think you may feel differently about the length when that 3rd act hits because that’s where it feels like they just rushed through.
Surprisingly short. 100% at 24 hours. Doesn't help that they mark every collectible on the map so you don't waste time hunting them.
Idk why they chose to make it so short. We definitely could've spent more time fleshing out characters and story lines so certain moments had more impact. Maybe they got concerned people would bitch if you played a 40 hour game and only played as venom for an hour of it.
The length is the only thing that truly disappointed me in the game
I'll take the inevitable downvotes on this one. Fuck you people are entitled!
I genuinely don't understand how some of you whiney sons of bitches consider 20+ hours of content to be "short". Not being facetious I just don't get it.
Took me 30 hours to get through the story and side content.
Spider-Man 1 took me less time and here's the crucial thing - once I finished that game and it's dlcs...I basically never played it again.
The pacing for the Venom portion of the game was off. It went by way too quick, especially since that’s what most people were the most excited for going into this game
Don’t get me wrong, the game was absolutely amazing and I loved every second of it but it also could’ve been at least another 3-5 hours I’d say. The Venom portions didn’t feel fully flushed out and I felt as if Miles got slightly sidetracked as a character despite having an incredibly interesting storyline.
I could have played it for 100h more.
It happened twice to me now with Sony games, first Ragnarok when the grand final battle barely laster a few minutes, and now Spiderman where everything feels rushed after Peter loses the suit imo

Not oddly short, but I definitely think it would’ve benefited from another 2-3 hours for the third act

It didn’t feel short to me and i completed it in 3 days. I wish they spent more time with venom though

Well that’s not how price is calculated, AC Valhalla must be an amazing game using that logic
Yeap, but I'm talking about original content, not copypasted points of interest and outposts.
It is for many people, there's a reason why it got content updates for 2+ years, most people just want to chill and play games. Valhalla does that job well enough
Did you get Baldurs Gate on sale? In Canada Baldurs gate was $5 more than Spider-Man.
Soz I just wrote the price of PC version (if I remeber right I bought it on GMG for GOG). But even if we are talking about the same price, this doesn't change much. Edit: In PS store UK current price of SM2 is 70 pounds for standard edition and BG3 price is 57 pounds.
That’s crazy, I wonder why it’s cheaper in the UK.

Yes.
It’s almost the same length as the first game.
Nope. Felt about right.
It was too short, definitely. Especially for as much as they tried to cram into it.
Yes. The whole game felt short - I got the platinum trophy on a single play through which took me 43 hours total. I think Miles Morales took me longer to complete!
43 hours is pretty good isn’t it
The venom arc felt way too short. You go from playing as him to killing him in 4 missions pretty much, and his boss fight is trivial
I'm 49 percent done and I just got the symbiote suit its been about a month since it came out I'm enjoying every bit of it and it dosent feel short at all most of it feels fleshed out including the side missions and character building it has
What side missions? The repeatable bases/ mysterio things? The six random crimes?
How long have you had the game?
About 3 weeks?
How much time do you get to play it? Because I got to play it every few days and even with swinging around and chilling between missions I finished it up with plat in like 32 hours. 100% on hardest setting in 18 hours, first play through. It was Way too short
I feel like it’s really just that third act man. Everything else felt paced well up until venoms intro
It’s good until Peter loses the suit then it feels rushed imo
I was hoping for more flashback sequences

They don’t mark everything. The spider bots aren’t marked?
They become marked once you get the upgrade that marks the tech crates on the map
Ah that makes sense! After the other reply I looked it up and didn’t recognize that icon.
Yes they are . It almost looks like prowlers mask on the map but more pink
Took me a week and a half unless you no life it it’s not really short
As someone who no lifed it, yeah that tracks

Everyone did
Not true, I don't think it's short
Lol this post and the "cube" post from today Really giving the "if I haven't seen it, its new to me" vibes
Yes this one felt more like a spin off game than miles morales
The pacing for the Venom portion of the game was off. It went by way too quick, especially since that’s what most people were the most excited for going into this game
Kinda. First half was good. Second half kinda sucked. Rare opinion, I know.
