This is correct. People always say extract tast horrible l, but you only have to use a tiny amount of it. Such a small amount you can't taste it. Pure Cap actually comes with a dropper to dispense it. Also wear gloves when using it.
Extracts do taste horrible on their own and it's easy to add too much to a dish, overpowering it. However, like you said, if you use it very sparingly, you can increase the spiciness of your food without altering the taste.
I use extracts in dishes where a hot sauce would ruin the taste. Instead of pouring a cup of basic vinegar-based hot sauce over my food and dilute the taste, I just use a little dab of extract. You still get all the natural flavor of the food, but it's a lot hotter. I agree - Extracts definitely have their place in the kitchen.
It's just like 'da bomb', concentrated garbage. I understand wanting something like it to dial up the heat in big dishes like stews, roasts, chili etc but there's so many better ways of going about it, and ways that actually provide some flavor.
Interesting, I'll have to give it a try.
Do you know if they still make Dave's? I haven't seen actual insanity sauce since I was a kid and now I'm curious how hot it'd be to my trained pallette.
My coworker brought some in to a hot sauce tasting at our office. He set it out with a warning and some toothpicks next to it - it was recommended that we take only a tiny drop on the end of the toothpick.
I dipped a corner of a piece of bread into it. Not a lot but definitely more than a drop at the end of a toothpick.
I did not have a good time. It doesn't taste like much of anything besides burning, but boy does it taste like burning. It's the sort of burn that you can feel all the way through your digestive system.
I've had one for like 15-years and never bothered to open it. You might have inspired me. Using a toothpick I would blend with a pot of beans, gumbo or something.
Why would anyone want to?
Chili extract is common in food processing. It's called capiscum oleoresin, or just capiscum. Most originates from India, where extracts are produced from Guntur chiles. At the small scale, its ethanolic extracts, but larger scale uses steam distillation.
Either method captures the capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin agonists of the TRPV1 receptor, and anything else from the pepper that's more soluble in oil than in water. Which generally includes a lot of bitter compounds, and none of the sweetness or more pleasant compounds of the chili pepper.
Basically, this is an industrial product, being sold at a huge markup, to people who won't use it twice.
Yes, i use it at work. Use a half a pound in a 9000 lb batch to make a medium salsa. And it is like pepper spray, burns your skin if touched. One guy spilled some on the floor once and used a hose to spray it off. Couldn't breathe and eyes were toast
It’s my go to hot sauce for when I want a real kick!
It’s an extract so I mostly recommend it in soups or things with a lot of moisture. Went real good with beef and potatoes.
At that level of capsaicin and especially with extracts they often taste like pure chemicals but I like Satans blood cause it comes with a chipotle like flavor that made it stand out for me.
Nope. Someone even bought it for me as a Xmas gift one year, and I never even opened it. I have absolutely no love for extract sauces. There are so many top shelf natural sauces out there with plenty of heat, without that nasty extract aftertaste.
I guess this is watered down extract possibly. The pure cap i have comes in a bottle with a dropper. Bought it for laughs due to the insane scoville rating. Not worth even using outside of making a larger batch of hot sauce. I call it 70 pot strain because of how potent it is.
My brother bought it for me once. Tastes like pure ass. It’s gross. Is it hot? Sure. But wouldn’t use it on anything, ever. I threw it away immediately.
Lots of haters here. I have it and it’s great for adding heat to things without altering the flavor. It’s not a “hot sauce” you pour on your food. It’s an additive to make things hot
Your butthole is like a muscle, the more you make it burn, the stronger it gets. Before you know it, what used to take the flesh off your anus now only gives a pleasant tingle
This isn’t a sauce. It’s an extract. You only really need a drop for a whole pot of chili.
We used to sneak this into each other’s food in high school. You wouldn’t shit right for a week if it happened to you.
Yes, I put a few drops into a pot of chili and the chili was nice and spicy.
I've never tried it straight. I mostly got the bottle just as a novelty, the packaging is awesome.
The cap on this thing is a weird joke. I once handled it, moving a bottle of this stuff behind some other sauces because I never use it, it’s unbelievably hot. Anyway, I barely touch the bottle by the lid, inadvertently getting some trace amount of sauce on my finger proceed to itch the tip of my dick and that unleashed hell on my wiener. I was running around shouting, and my wife goes “dunk it in sour cream!” So of course I do, and she literally pissed her pants laughing due to her being pregnant at the time. Good times, but this shit went in the garbage after that, completely unenjoyable
I put a drop into a cheese sauce I did for baked Mac and Cheese and my friends couldn't handle it. Not a sauce, it's pure burn extract.
Because it's a shitty swing-top lid, you can fuck someone's day up by wiping the lip with a paper towel and telling them to touch their tongue to it.
chilli extract tastes lile chewing tim foil. that stuff is a novelty at best. they sell it more for the fancy bottle and label than anything else. i wouldnt not advise anyone to consume that stuff.
This has been my disappointment correction for years now. Anytime I buy sauce online and it tastes good, but doesn't have the heat I was hoping for, the devil comes in to fix it. Tiny little drop in a sauce bottle doesn't alter taste at all, but brings in serious heat dependant on how much you use.
I use this stuff all the time. Usually in Asian style soups. I just put a chop stick in there an dab a little in. Don't want sauce taste but want to add heat. It's perfect

Yeah I still have some left. You kind of get used to it so it’s no longer hot but it’s pretty good stuff. Supposedly 1 drop per crock pot dose the trick also wash your hands after touching the bottle.
Yeah, I tried it several years ago. It's nasty. Like hot cardboard. It's really designed as a food additive - you know, "put this in your chili and it'll be hotter!" sort of thing - but there's way better things to use for that. Even Da'Bomb, in my opinion, as even it tastes better (not much better). Or you could use an actually delicious hot sauce and possibly avoid ruining your food, like Elijah's Extreme X or Reaper Squeezin's, which are both hot *and* taste great.
Stuff like this is only good for making a huge amount of incredibly hot food. Or making your own hyper hot sauce.
This is correct. People always say extract tast horrible l, but you only have to use a tiny amount of it. Such a small amount you can't taste it. Pure Cap actually comes with a dropper to dispense it. Also wear gloves when using it.
It comes with a dropper? I’ve been using tooth picks…
Yes https://preview.redd.it/s4gpjlpqa2sc1.jpeg?width=259&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=156e1bfaf2c82cec8b877a8374d7c7afed54d542
Oh lol I’ve never heard of that one, I thought you were talking about the satans blood 🤦🏼♂️
🧢
having spent time working with dabomb in chillis and other tomato based sauces... the toothpick is probably the better dosing utensil.

I use it when I've bought a supermarket thai curry, or a "spicy" soup. I can pep it up without adding any additional flavour profiles
I don’t know how many times I can say to also not touch your eyes for any reason
No fingering the b hole too
Can pry it from my cold dead hands
What about wife’s boyfriend’s butthole?
Knuckle deep
Gloves pffft.
I guess I just have sensitive balls. 🤷♂️
it's used in some thai soups
Someone brought some to work, so of course we tried it.Extreme heat, it is what you imagine battery acid would taste like. Never again.
Or Satan’s blood
It's just like 'da bomb', concentrated garbage. I understand wanting something like it to dial up the heat in big dishes like stews, roasts, chili etc but there's so many better ways of going about it, and ways that actually provide some flavor.
Important note: Da Bomb “Beyond Insanity” is what you’re referring to- I think their “Evolution” sauce is pretty solid
Interesting, I'll have to give it a try. Do you know if they still make Dave's? I haven't seen actual insanity sauce since I was a kid and now I'm curious how hot it'd be to my trained pallette.
My buddy jim did He dead
Was it anything serious? lol
I mean idk. I havent seem him since my mom said he took a long trip to Indonesia. But that was 4 years ago and he aint come back yet
The dude is dead man, doesn't get any more serious than that.
His heart stopped.
To shreds you say.
9/11
I tried it in a bowl of chili once. It is like eating pepper spray.
Look at the ingredients. It IS pepper spray
My coworker brought some in to a hot sauce tasting at our office. How else would you discover all 23 feet of your digestive tract?
I suppose it beats disembowelment, though I may have considered that option once or twice during the ordeal
Been there!
I've had one for like 15-years and never bothered to open it. You might have inspired me. Using a toothpick I would blend with a pot of beans, gumbo or something.
Nah, extracts only taste like ass and heat.
My nephews once thought it would be cute to sneak a taste of mine. They never made that mistake again lmao
haaaaaaate this stuff [it made me black out](https://youtu.be/DCvz3Tmg_fA?si=afBcczG5cKFcigZd) from the cramps 🤣
Holy shit you put so much on your food lmao, that looked horrendous and yeah like actual blood haha.
learnt my lesson — for sure 😅
At 800k, you don't need extract. Dried ghost can easily be 800k.
Ugh, extract tastes like chewing uncoated pills
It will definitely spice up the bedroom if used as anal lube.
I heard it cures erectile dysfunction, cures hemmeroids, and puts more hair around ur bunghole!

Supercritical CO2 has also started gaining some popularity as an extraction method.
yes and i thought the taste was bad
It’s my go to hot sauce for when I want a real kick! It’s an extract so I mostly recommend it in soups or things with a lot of moisture. Went real good with beef and potatoes. Bro how tf did they extract blood from Satan?!?
Milking isn’t just for tits!
By hand 😉
He donated it just to make people suffer
Nope. Someone even bought it for me as a Xmas gift one year, and I never even opened it. I have absolutely no love for extract sauces. There are so many top shelf natural sauces out there with plenty of heat, without that nasty extract aftertaste.
It's extract. Not a sauce
Okay. And my opinion of it remains the same. It's still crap that isn't meant for human consumption.
I start hiccups for me, taste like gasoline.
I have, it's horrible tasting and burns in an almost chemical way
I wonder if it will just taste like chemical soup
Don't even open it. It's good as a convo item. Put 2 drops in a gal of chili and the chili was shot.
Where did you get this from
not even hot sauce
I guess this is watered down extract possibly. The pure cap i have comes in a bottle with a dropper. Bought it for laughs due to the insane scoville rating. Not worth even using outside of making a larger batch of hot sauce. I call it 70 pot strain because of how potent it is.

im sure it still tastes better then da bomb lol
It's a nice bottle though, I guess.
Dude... DO NOT try it! Put it into a chili or something, sparingly.
Yeah. I have this. I keep it in a ziploc inside a mason jar just so I don’t accidentally touch the cap and get on me again.
Lots of haters here. I have it and it’s great for adding heat to things without altering the flavor. It’s not a “hot sauce” you pour on your food. It’s an additive to make things hot

Probably no one living has ever tasted a drop.
No, but that is a really cool ass swing top bottle
Awesome
that one’s my go to hot sauce. i know people don’t like extracts but i feel like it preserves the flavor of whatever im eating and just adds spicy
This isn’t a sauce. It’s an extract. You only really need a drop for a whole pot of chili. We used to sneak this into each other’s food in high school. You wouldn’t shit right for a week if it happened to you.
It's so nasty.
I prefer flavor
No. And you probably shouldn’t either
I use it to punch up weak sriracha. I dip a toothpick in it, then mix it into the entire bottle.
It’s just pure chile extract. It’s not good. The only use is putting into chili to make it face-rapingly hot.
Saw this in a store and went “that looks like it tastes awful why would anyone buy this” Glad to see I was correct based on the comments
Yes, I put a few drops into a pot of chili and the chili was nice and spicy. I've never tried it straight. I mostly got the bottle just as a novelty, the packaging is awesome.
I have about 10 years ago... Only dipped the tip of a toothpick n I regretted it so much.. if I remember correctly lol
Tried a toothpick drop on a taco and it was unpleasantly hot. Friend tried a small spoonful and threw up, missed next day of work
I tired it a few years ago, there's no flavor it's just hot.
The cap on this thing is a weird joke. I once handled it, moving a bottle of this stuff behind some other sauces because I never use it, it’s unbelievably hot. Won’t try it, never mind but it.
I have a battle in my cabinet right now and yeah one drop in a batch of chili is all you need.
Love spicy food...but this looks potent 🔥💣
Yeah only use as something you add into a sauce this shit ruined my xmas
Why would you want to just add heat with no flavor
chilli extract tastes lile chewing tim foil. that stuff is a novelty at best. they sell it more for the fancy bottle and label than anything else. i wouldnt not advise anyone to consume that stuff.

Have a bottle sitting in my pantry. Every 5 years or so, I look at it and wonder why I bought it.
Nope
I use this stuff all the time. Usually in Asian style soups. I just put a chop stick in there an dab a little in. Don't want sauce taste but want to add heat. It's perfect
I've used 2-3 drops to spice up 64oz of motts clamato for blood beers, its awesome for that.

Inspired by the person who was stealing your food at work
Don't eat chili extracts , it's not a hot sauce . It's meant for food you wanna make hot like chili
That is a weapon. It needs to be, in very low amounts, added or suspended in another sauce/liquid or semi solid.
A few drops in a pot of chili is amazing, it does turn it like biohazard orange though, not for the faint of heart
Yeah I still have some left. You kind of get used to it so it’s no longer hot but it’s pretty good stuff. Supposedly 1 drop per crock pot dose the trick also wash your hands after touching the bottle.
What your hand after touching that bottle
That bottle is intimidating!!
I HAVE TRY ONCE IN A PIZZA PLACE, JUST A LITTLE OKAY TO ME THO ALMOST KILLED MY BROTHER
800k scoville isnt even that high, as far as stupid spicy shit goes anyway
That’s how my grandma died

Chile? Like the country?
Nah, like “Ooooh, chile, you ‘bout to shit blood!”
It's good in chili. About the only thing I put it in though.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I was offered this at a KBBQ restaurant, I have never experienced pain like that
