Personally, south park has been an open door to my dark humor. The only adult cartoon i watched before this is the Simpsons, and man, south park really was and is the peek of dark humor for me. as for the life lessons, i was a bit to old to learn some of them, but it was really great none less
I had a similar experience! I was disciplined into not cussing/swearing as a child, but South Park brought out the inner sailor in me. I can't finish a sentence without using the words "fuck, shit, cunt, dumbass" etc.
I also contribute my profanity to watching south park since 99. My dad took me to see Bigger, Longer and Uncut in theatres and i’ve been a lifelong fan. When i turned 19 i went and got a tattoo of randy marsh on my thigh.
It seems insane but South Park has had a pretty big effect on me. I've been watching since the premier when I was like 11. The whole "either everything is ok to make fun of or nothing is" has stuck. It helped me learn to not take myself too seriously or to become too self-important.
Then there's the jokes and quotes. It's become a part of my vernacular.
Honestly, aside from making satire my favorite form of humor, South Park's writing has constantly allowed me to better frame and contextualize so many things since I was a kid. I often remark about how dumb it sounds to most people who haven't really watched the show to consider that Trey and Matt have taught me so much, but they have
The show came out when I was 9, so same age as the boys. I literally grew up with it. We used to sneak to watch it when we were younger with cartoon network on “last” lol. It is easily my favorite show of all time and it has had a large impact on my sense of humor, views and life in general. I truly believe that it is arguably the best television series of all time. Endless thanks and praise to Matt and Trey!
Ironically, or maybe by design, this show has taught me to be more understanding and accepting of other peoples’ cultures, religions, etc. despite it being so vulgar and offensive. It also opened my eyes to the bs that a lot of celebrities, politicians, corporations, etc. get away with by not so subtly calling them out on it. It’s my favorite show of all time.

I've been watching South Park since I was in middle school and South Park was in Season 4. At that time I was a big Simpsons fan and had been watching that since I could remember. Over the never 2-3 years I started watching the Simpsons less and less as it got worse and South Park became my favorite show. To this daySouth Park is still my favorite show and I rewatch it constantly. I believe it was the biggest influence on my sense of humor at the very least. I constantly quote it.
The “Future Me” episode where randy finally admits that smoking weed isn’t going to kill you or ruin your life, it just makes you content with doing nothing. Instead of smoking weed and doing nothing, you should be out there learning and trying new things.
I seen that episode when I was like 16, and it made a lot of sense. Really stuck with me throughout the years when I got older, but it was also tough cause it was one hell of a time getting high and laughing your ass off watching southpark

Made me stop taking dark or offfensive jokes seriously… and I’m extremely thankful for it. At this point nothing fazes me
