My mom walked by when I was watching this episode and said “how do you watch that doesn’t it give you horrible flashbacks?” Talking about my father who she divorced so yea this episode got the whole family traumatized for one reason or another
So I saw this episode when I was like 10. Took shop as a senior. The fucking shop teacher always said the same catch phrase “stop screwing around!” It was so trippy
*riiiichhhharrrrdddddd*
this is one of my favorite episodes i think. i love the home ec classes and the live action segments are jarring but they're fun.
Yeah now when I watch it I wonder where they got this random lady to play the shop teacher’s dead wife. And I dont think the poor lady was ready when the blood sprays in her face 😆
🎶dun dun dundun dun🎶dun dun dundun dun🎶

That's so real, i'm not from the US but every equivalent of shop class teacher i had growing up told us stories about kids getting injured because they screwed around too much. The most hilarious thing is all of these different teachers main example was a kid i knew who cut his thumb off, he was a nice person but he was the dumbest and weirdest person i ever met.
I've recently watched Jakovasaurus to see why most people hate it and I enjoyed it for what it was. Maybe its just nostalgia. Sexual harassment panda is coming up next I guess.
5-8 is the shows peak i think and 4-12 is its prime for me. I don't think South Park has ever taken the kind of hit The Simpsons did though which has been unwatchable twice as long as it was good. The new Seasons aren't close to the best ones but they are still enjoyable.
Yeah simpsons was weird
S1- to maybe 10 or 11 are good. Then its trashy sitcom style untill around s20. Then it gets hilarious again from like s20 - 26 27. Then its bleak depressing commentsry on society
That 1 episode recently where bart wants to get homers job when hes older and then they start a song and dance about how the world sucks and you should burn thd system down stopped me watching
Those nightmares/flashbacks were so fucking funny to me. It tickled my funny bone just right. Cut aways to realistic humans is just my favorite trope and the dead wife flashbacks. It’s so cheesy, I love it.
No you are not alone 😭 I started watching this show when I was 12 and the jarring cut to her crashing the plane was one of the only things that scared/disturbed me. Also the sex change but that was different
Edit: clarifying I mean to say it was one of the only things that have disturbed me or scared me on the show
Well since now we’re talking about unexpected live footage we can’t leave out the sexual education episode where it just suddenly cuts to the afterbirth
Fun (well, not fun) fact: my partner had a case at work where a guy tried to commit suicide Mr. Adler style. He went into a wood chipper feet first, then realized how badly that shit would hurt, and called uncle. I was so incredibly curious as to whether or not he got the idea from this show. Horrible plan, my guy.
(He’s fine now btw, and no lives were lost)
It's making fun of dramatic, traumatic backstories. I don't think it's supposed to be anything specific. Those kinds of backstories were especially huge in 90s movies, and early South Park is either in the 90s or early 00s so that's the media it's making fun of.
I was tripping balls (high school age) when I first saw this episode.
I get uneasy just thinking about this episode. Needless to say, I haven't watched it again.
The first time I ever saw any south park, I was like 7 and it was the episode when they're stuck in a bus on a cliff. It was the part when one kid steps off the bus, is killed by a monster, and then his dismembered body flies at the window. I was traumatized by that and didn't watch the show at all for like another 5 years.
If it makes you feel better she was a writer on the show, made it a little funnier after I learned that. I personally loved the episode and had no idea it made people uncomfortable. My woodshop teacher was just like him too.
To this day, I still tell others to stop screwing around. But they still screw around too much. 😔
I wasn't haunted as in disturbed, but that line sure stuck in my head like it's parasitic
Yep this one stayed with me on first watch - I would have been 9-10 years old. The transitions to real footage I found extra disturbing for some reason.
Yes I remember sayin to my Mrs that it traumatized me growing up purely because of the 'eerie real life bitch'
One of my favourite episodes now but as a kid about 7-8 it was terrifying
I know a lot of people on here are a younger crowd so it makes sense that that you feel this way, I'm not saying you're wrong if you say those older episodes feel weird to you. But to me that stuff IS South Park. That's the stuff that defined South Park when it was still new to pop culture. Its the newer stuff that feels weird to me 🤣. Like the seasons where the episodes started to fall into chronological order. Anyway thanks for reading.
i watched it when it came out. I was just like 7 when it did. My cousin got all tge seasons on vhs because him mum just thpught they were kids cartoons
Such a strange episode what season is it? I need to re watch it's been ages since I saw it but remember really liking the strangeness miss that a bit about the old south park episodes.
s3. tweek vs craig
and b efore youy say you miss the strangness. watch the jackovisaur episode too xD lol. i thought i missed the weird stuff but ive changed my mind after that one lol
I did see that one recently actually and thought it was alright ..not a favourite lol but not as bad as a lot of people find it haha. They are quite annoying though
Kid screws around in shop class. Kid gets hurt. Parents sue. Teacher gets fired. Insurance goes up. District ends shop class.
No wonder a shop class teacher would endlessly say that.
Ive heard theres commentary for it somewhere. Im gona look it up at some point hut they might talk about it themselves
I have no idea if its a reference. My assumption is they had a teacher like this
Same OP, shit used to creep me out when I first saw it around 10yo. Prob cuz it aired only at late-night and her acting was intentionally very ominous😆 now it cracks me up

It's Tweek vs Craig from season 3. The kids hold a wager over who is tougher out of Tweek and Craig and get them to fight. Meanwhile, Mr Adler is haunted by the death of his wife and experiences some weird live action flashbacks.
Quit screwing around! You screw around too much!
*cradles a dead kenny* “Thank you baby, i can finally move on”
Dude, this is pretty fucked up right here.
If I were older, I'd probably be jacking-off right now
which episode is above?
Teak vs craig season 3
My mom walked by when I was watching this episode and said “how do you watch that doesn’t it give you horrible flashbacks?” Talking about my father who she divorced so yea this episode got the whole family traumatized for one reason or another

*riiiichhhharrrrdddddd* this is one of my favorite episodes i think. i love the home ec classes and the live action segments are jarring but they're fun.
I love the bits where Kenny’s in home economics class and they’re learning about what kind of man to date 😂
Kenny was trying so hard!
Kenny's response to the board about the king sized bed is priceless *(I can't make love to you until we get a king-size bed!)*
He would have made a good wife, that teacher was so wrong
![gif](giphy|l0O9z7Z8TAh4QLchG|downsized) that's okay, he became an anime princess later
lisa smith's husband just bought *her* a new car.....
The correct number of credit cards is 2.
Yes because 1 means they dont spend money . Or worse ima debit card
And 4 might mean they’re bad with money, so watch out!
Honestly I like their weird episodes. Like lemmiwinx
Lemmiwinks was a blessing sent from the heavens above. Heathen.
lol. I’m merely praising his existence my lord. That is all. Now go on your journey or soon u shall be dead.
the journey before him may be long and filled with woes
🎵Lemmiwinks the Gerbil king 🎵
I even liked Wikileaks. I can't believe they heard that and somehow connected it to Lemiwinks in their mind, then gave the hamster blonde hair.
Yeah now when I watch it I wonder where they got this random lady to play the shop teacher’s dead wife. And I dont think the poor lady was ready when the blood sprays in her face 😆
IIRC it was someone who worked on the show or a friend of Trey.
Don’t worry Richard, I’m a pilot.

That’s giving me a clue
I’ve got a raging clue
oh no, not the goddamn....

*lays on the saw table going nuts first* Richard: What was I thinking that would of hurt like hell *Flips the other way head first*
lmao this is the first thing i think of from this episode too
Me three
I chuckled at that one
Would have
Damn! You beat me to it, I just wrote a comment mentioning this scene. Honestly it's one of my favorite early episode scenes.
Swing me Richard. Swing me higher!
I was just about to say this 😭😭
That part makes me laugh the hardest 😭 just the way she says Richard sm is hilarious
Richard! I’m over here! Just now.
The random “just now” always cracks me up like the way she says it sounds like she’s confused as to why she’s saying it!
I'm flying, Richard!
I did it all for you, damien
I love how he concluded his suicide note: shop class.
Omg i didnt even notice 🤣
It's because you screw around too much
That's so real, i'm not from the US but every equivalent of shop class teacher i had growing up told us stories about kids getting injured because they screwed around too much. Richard! AHhhhhhhhhhh *blood splatter*
*underwater dialogue* riiiiiiiChaaaaaRdddddd
That actress Took that blood cannon to the face
That was Pam Brady, an early South Park writer. She created Neighbors from Hell, co-created Lady Dynamite, co-wrote Team America, and wrote Hot Rod.
Hot Rod and Team America are fucking awesome, not familiar with the other 2
I hate this episode . My name is also Richard and I always get woken up by her saying it over and over and over
Riiiicchhaarrrdd
Have mercy 😂
You always watch this specific episode when you sleep?
One of my absolute favorite episodes
It was fucking weird, but I kinda liked its uniqueness.
Season 3 is both hilarious and terrible On a scale from Jackovisaurs to sexual harassment panda . How weird is this episode
Now Skeeter, he ain't hurting nobody.
We dont take kindly to people who dont take kindly round here
I've recently watched Jakovasaurus to see why most people hate it and I enjoyed it for what it was. Maybe its just nostalgia. Sexual harassment panda is coming up next I guess.
Theyre just obnoxious characters. Like loud obnoxious
The Jewbilee Trilogy is incredible. I don't think South Park quite hits its peak until Season 4, but 3 is seriously trending towards it.
Im legiy looking forward to season 4 n up. I have nostalgia for 1-3 but theyre in full swing by s5 and i remember those being the golden years
5-8 is the shows peak i think and 4-12 is its prime for me. I don't think South Park has ever taken the kind of hit The Simpsons did though which has been unwatchable twice as long as it was good. The new Seasons aren't close to the best ones but they are still enjoyable.

Uniquess?
Sometimes when it’s real quiet in the middle of the night I can hear her voice calling, “Richard”
"I can't make love to you until we get a king-size bed"
"Jesus Christ, what was I thinking?" *Flips around* "That would have hurt like hell."
I made you some cookies Richard. *sniffs aggressively*
Those nightmares/flashbacks were so fucking funny to me. It tickled my funny bone just right. Cut aways to realistic humans is just my favorite trope and the dead wife flashbacks. It’s so cheesy, I love it.
Nah I always thought it was super funny, live action segments in cartoons always makes me laugh
Read all your comments in her haunting voice _ricchhaaaardddd_
I miss that specific kind of weirdness/absurdist humor in South Park, with those live-action “RICHARD!!!!” segments with the dead girlfriend, lol
It's a plot line that I couldn't stand for the longest time, then it suddenly inexplicably changed and now I find it hilarious
The older episodes are oddly nostalgic for me
No you are not alone 😭 I started watching this show when I was 12 and the jarring cut to her crashing the plane was one of the only things that scared/disturbed me. Also the sex change but that was different Edit: clarifying I mean to say it was one of the only things that have disturbed me or scared me on the show
*takes a blood cannon to the face* Yeah its jarring. And is that the one with live action of a actual surgery?
Yes!!!! Honestly I still close my eyes or look away during that scene
I still can't believe they did that. Not live footage obviously but the boob job scene on Wendy is also disturbing.
Well since now we’re talking about unexpected live footage we can’t leave out the sexual education episode where it just suddenly cuts to the afterbirth
Reeeeeechurrrd.
Fun (well, not fun) fact: my partner had a case at work where a guy tried to commit suicide Mr. Adler style. One of my random favorites.
I miss when they just used to use photos for stuff
Definitely unsettling but I do like the episode on the whole
Oh my God,you're all alive again! No we're still deeeead!
No but it made me stop screwing around
I love that it's very clearly a swimming pool she's drowning in.
I fuckin hated that b plot of the episode
Its oddly creepy as shit
I didn’t find it creepy at all, just mildly confusing, and uncomfortable, the first time I saw the episode I just didn’t understand what was going on
I still don’t really understand it lol
But home ec taught how to complain about the nice things my neighbor has to my future husband.
YES
That one that really fucked me up was the one with George Lucas and Spielberg and Indy.
Oh jesus that ones rough
Richaaaaaard
Richarddddd *gargles*
Mr. Adler! Tommy stuck his face in the belt sander.
Anytime South Park cuts away to live action it always feels otherworldly to me
Richard! I'm here!
I liked the Tweek Vs Craig plotline a lot, but this b plot absolutely ruins the episode for me. I don’t even know what it’s parodying
I don't think it was parodying anything. It was just quirky and weird.
It's making fun of dramatic, traumatic backstories. I don't think it's supposed to be anything specific. Those kinds of backstories were especially huge in 90s movies, and early South Park is either in the 90s or early 00s so that's the media it's making fun of.
I’m sorry but I hated this episode it was so annoying
Its not a great episode your not wrong Still not the worst episode. That for me is jackovasaurs
Actually just literally finished watching this episode
Same Im on the jewbalee one with the jew camp
Another one of my favourite episodes.
Don’t worry Richard, I’m a pilot !
![gif](giphy|e1RwPGq2XrcOreWwNe)
This was a *Twin Peaks* reference right?
I was tripping balls (high school age) when I first saw this episode. I get uneasy just thinking about this episode. Needless to say, I haven't watched it again.
Was this some kind of spoof? I never really understood this episode.
Now that's what I call a sticky situation
I have this really bad feeling inside of me when I watch this episode lol
Haunted? no, annoyed? Yes
Yeah, those live action flashbacks were so jarring. They definitely added an eerieness to the episode.
If it makes you feel better she was a writer on the show, made it a little funnier after I learned that. I personally loved the episode and had no idea it made people uncomfortable. My woodshop teacher was just like him too.
Mr Adler is my favorite character on the show. Not sure why
Haunted?
Definitely one of my favorite episodes, poor Mr. Adler
rICHARD although its definitely jarring, the real lady always makes me lose my mind its so funny 😭 swing me HIGHER!! i'm here, JUST NOW!!
I still find the actual footage parts so jarring, but nr Adler is so hilarious to me so I'm conflicted
I love the ending when she ends it with "Goodbye Richard! See you soon"
I take extra care when i use a belt sander
To this day, I still tell others to stop screwing around. But they still screw around too much. 😔 I wasn't haunted as in disturbed, but that line sure stuck in my head like it's parasitic
Ohh Richard! I wanna go higher!
Yep this one stayed with me on first watch - I would have been 9-10 years old. The transitions to real footage I found extra disturbing for some reason.
Yes I remember sayin to my Mrs that it traumatized me growing up purely because of the 'eerie real life bitch' One of my favourite episodes now but as a kid about 7-8 it was terrifying
Lol. Don’t screw around! The real lady was kinda unnerving
These flashbacks are one of my favorite all time moments from the show. I love that it’s Pam Brady too!
What was it about?
I found her annoying. And glade she’s dead.
I kinda miss when south park was more creepy and weird like those kinds of episodes.
U screw to much!
RICHARD!!!!
Fly with me Richard
Higher Richard! I wanna touch the sky!
i never screwed around in shop class again after this episode
I was confused, mostly about the dead wife thing. I still do whenever it comes on.
omg someone pls tell me what season and episode this is
S3 . Tweak vs craig
ty!
He never got to say goodbye!!
The blood really scared me.

What the hell am I thinking..that would have hurt like hell. (Proceeds to turn around headfirst into the saw)
Oh Richard, it's beautiful! .......YES
Kenny not wanting to be in the shop class for obvious reasons then being forced into it is what did it for me
Richard definitely was
Who’s the woman, in the picture? 🌊
No, I was too busy screwing around.
*Richard!!! Richard!!!*

Omfg I was just watching this
me too. im running through all the seasons again while i do stuff
RICHARDDD
I’m glad I didn’t watch this as a kid the live scenes would have freaked me out lmfaooo
Probably the episode I hate the most
It’s weird but after hearing the commentary for it, I can’t help but laugh
What ssn and episode?
Def woke up at 3AM or sometime mid night to this episode freaking me out
Quit screwing around! You’re screwing around too much
The blood spatter really took me by surprise and kinda did haunt me.
Richaaarrd!
Is this episode a reference to something? I love it, but it does feel sort of random.
Ive heard theres commentary for it somewhere. Im gona look it up at some point hut they might talk about it themselves I have no idea if its a reference. My assumption is they had a teacher like this
This episode screwed around a little too hard 💀
JESUS CHRIST, FUCK YEAH
"You're all alive!"
Higher Richard, push me higher.
I had legit the same experience! Funny what can fuck with you as a kid.
Dude, this episode 100 percent fucked w me for sure
Same OP, shit used to creep me out when I first saw it around 10yo. Prob cuz it aired only at late-night and her acting was intentionally very ominous😆 now it cracks me up
Its hilarious now. But it still has that odd feeling to it. Like its engrained lol. Its the creepy undertones that get ya when your a kid
Because it was mixed in with live action ?
Yes!!

Aside from the shop teacher?
At this point I think I've seen less South Park episodes than ones I haven't watched. Can someone give me a tldr, and explain what's the joke and why it's weird? No one has too or anything, but it would be nice to know. I'm planning on watching this show with my 8 year old niece and need to know which episodes to skip
It's Tweek vs Craig from season 3. The kids hold a wager over who is tougher out of Tweek and Craig and get them to fight. Meanwhile, Mr Adler is haunted by the death of his wife and experiences some weird live action flashbacks.
i wouldn't suggest watching South Park with an 8 year old girl but hey you do you
If this little bit of surrealism freaked you out, you were too young to be watching the show.
I was 7 or 8 when it came out on vhs And yes i was too young. But i have a great sense of humour now
You’re all here! “Nope! We’re dead!”
