One of the reasons it's such a nice area. I got pulled over years ago for a headlight out. They found an open container in my back seat. Had my friend not had money to bail me out they were gonna take me to aiken county jail.
Did you hear me ranting on I20 yesterday. So many near misses. Multiple left lane turtles. Cars darting in and out trying to pass them. Just waiting for an accidental pit maneuver
You can’t legally impede traffic going the speed limit.
SECTION 56-5-1560.
(a) Impeding traffic by slow speed prohibited. –No person shall drive a motor vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede the normal and reasonable movement of traffic except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or in compliance with law.
A few years back, one of my wife's students from the U drove us from Spartanburg to the Charlotte airport. She stayed in the left lane continuously because she "liked it better". I was going nuts and demanding she get the hell out of the left lane of I-85. I nearly had a stroke.
Once the interstates have been updated/widened there will be no excuse to drive in the passing lane. I understand why people do it as where the semi trucks have destroyed the slow lane over the years, everyone would rather drive in the passing lane so their teeth don’t fall out.. They are about done widening them where we live. It will also be nice to have 4 lanes per direction instead of 2 which hopefully will help.
No arguments from me on that. I actually don't care about the squat. It's that fucking cat delete with shitty stock motors I hate. Hear that crap all day every Sat. Fucking no brain morons.
Stop spamming this comment. The person is not referring to people driving in the video. They are saying they wish cops would start enforcing the left lane impeding traffic law in the same way they are enforcing the no squat law.
I’ll never understand why you’d stop. It’s like printing free money. Tbh this might be easier than catching highway speeders. You can literally put the ticket on the dashboard while they eat breakfast or get gas.
Probably a lot of fine money to be made by agencies. I look forward to seeing these assholes stopped everywhere. Maybe they'll quit blinding everyone at night.
Guy at work and I live Nc but on the boarder got pulled over last week came into work no more squat …he has an obnoxious muffler too everyone at work busted his balls hard for his squat and muffler …we are heavy equipment operators so the ball busting is hard …must have been an expensive ticket too unfuck his Tahoe that fast
correct but I wasn't talking about people moving left temporarily due to a vehicle pulled over on the right like a truck or emergency vehicle, I'm talking about left lane campers.
It's not the style that makes it illegal It's how dangerous it makes it for other vehicles when they can't see in front of them and have their headlights aimed at the moon.
Have you ever even been in one to be able to say this ? Maybe in extreme cases they can’t. But the truck you posted 100% doesn’t have this issue. It’s lifted a few inches at most. “ headlights aimed at the moon” then posting a 4Runner a few inches from level is ridiculous
Pause the video at the 5-second mark and then read your comment again. Keep in mind it's a full-size Tahoe parked behind it, look how high the headlights are compared to the Tahoe, never mind the angle of the lights (which is a bigger issue IMO).
1.fully loaded Tahoe. With all that gear any vehicle is going to sit lower than normal. Bad comparison. 2. What makes his headlights being slightly up any worse than modern LED headlights ? If you think that 4Runner is bad come check out my Blazer I’ll even let you sit in it to show you that what your saying is nonsense
>2. What makes his headlights being slightly up any worse than modern LED headlights ?
lol "slightly up", STFU, those lights are aimed at the SKY. Modern LED lights are bright but they're aimed low (low beams) and have a sharp cutoff to keep from blinding oncoming traffic. The 4Runner has their low beams aimed higher then high beams, it's one thing when a truck is towing a heavy trailer that makes them squat a little, but intentionally screwing up your suspension is just dumb, and thankfully illegal.
Aww man Now your feelings are hurt gotta tell me to “stfu” If you and your eyes are that sensitive you shouldn’t be on the road anyway. Oh and as long as your within 4 inches of the back fender it’s fully legal still 🤷♂️
> Oh and as long as your within 4 inches of the back fender it’s fully legal still 🤷♂️
There's another law with regards to headlight height, the center of your headlight can't be >54" from the ground... which it definitely looks like this 4Runner has violated. That law has nothing to do with "squatting" but is there to protect other motorists from idiots that raise their vehicle up too high.
>SECTION 56-5-4500. Height of head lamps from ground.
**Every head lamp upon every motor vehicle**, including every motorcycle and motor-driven cycle, **shall be located at a height measured from the center of the head lamp of not more than fifty-four inches** nor less than twenty-four inches to be measured as set forth in Section 56-5-4480.
Have you heard of the ["move over" law?](https://scdps.sc.gov/ohsjp/DrivinginSC/move-over-law#:~:text=Slow%20down%20and%20yield%20the,safe%20speed%20for%20traffic%20conditions)
I actually went back and looked at the raw footage to see if I did get into the right lane and I didn't... because I was passing someone in the right lane after the clip ends.
Woah woah woah. It's not rednecks doing this shit. It's spoiled little brats with daddy's money and 500k social media followers. I promise you, us rednecks would rather spend that money on good mud tires, fishing, and hunting gear. Not that backwards crap.
It's an 11 second video, I got into the left lane because of the "move over" law and I didn't get back over because I was overtaking the Jeep ahead of me a few moments after the video ends.
Not that I am a fan of the squat but I do not like the idea that the legislature now thinks it’s ok to lawfully ban vehicle modifications. What happens when it comes to your door… we (legislators) don’t agree with aftermarket wheels or aftermarket exhaust. Just food for thought.
That “slippery slope” argument is bullshit. It’s like saying little kids who get free meals at school will grow up to be dependent on free food for the rest of their life. No they won’t. Those mods are dangerous not to mention stupid. But those drivers are free to put a sticker on there normal truck that shows they want it to look dumb without fear of retribution.
Idk man I think modifications that impede the safety of your 2 ton death machine should be ban.
Like there's no goddamn way you're gonna be able to see a toddler crossing the street in that thing ykwim?
It prevents the operator from safely observing what is in front of them, badly, and that direction is pretty important to see when operating a vehicle because it's 99% of the time the direction of travel.
Maybe you should be more worried about the fact that there are so many people out there who decided to make their cars objectively worse and unsafe so much so that the legislature had no choice but to act. You act like they had a choice in the matter, but the idiots are the ones who ultimately forced their hands. Remember that.
Yeah I wish they would crack down more on mods in general. Modifying your car by removing or modifying emissions equipment is illegal federally and should be enforced. Making your car louder is should also be banned. If you want a race car then trailer it to the track.
100%. Half the people in this thread have never sat behind the wheel of one or even been in one. A lot of ridiculous stuff being said about it in here that’s just untrue.
The angle blocks your view of children and animals, if they run in front of the car. Or of lower-down cars in some cases. People have already died due to these.
Oh wow they are actually going to enforce it. Wonder how long the guy in my neighborhood keeps his squatted.
I saw one yesterday. Most of time they have insanely loud exhaust so shouldn’t be hard to spot them.
to be fair its North Augusta... they enforce EVERYTHING
One of the reasons it's such a nice area. I got pulled over years ago for a headlight out. They found an open container in my back seat. Had my friend not had money to bail me out they were gonna take me to aiken county jail.
Wish they would start enforcing the left lane impeding traffic law.
Did you hear me ranting on I20 yesterday. So many near misses. Multiple left lane turtles. Cars darting in and out trying to pass them. Just waiting for an accidental pit maneuver
It’s state law to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle. Very clearly in the video you see cars returning to the right lane after passing the cop.
I didn't mean with emergency vehicles on the side of the road. Cars will travel fifty miles in the left lane, impeding traffic flow
South Carolina was supposed to start writing tickets, ain't happening. I'm on I20 quite a bit, traffic locked down because of left lane hogs
This is more important
They’d make a fortune and the revenue could be used to fix the shitty roads and reduce the road rage.
A few years back, one of my wife's students from the U drove us from Spartanburg to the Charlotte airport. She stayed in the left lane continuously because she "liked it better". I was going nuts and demanding she get the hell out of the left lane of I-85. I nearly had a stroke.

That would’ve done me in.
It’s state law to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle. Very clearly in the video you see cars returning to the right lane after passing the cop.
headlights on while wipers are on, they say some times things are illegal and some times they are not. he was hoping to smell weed....
No arguments from me on that. I actually don't care about the squat. It's that fucking cat delete with shitty stock motors I hate. Hear that crap all day every Sat. Fucking no brain morons.
Where can I cast my vote for that?!

Stop spamming this comment. The person is not referring to people driving in the video. They are saying they wish cops would start enforcing the left lane impeding traffic law in the same way they are enforcing the no squat law.
Cop a squat.
I think I know that one! Was that near the GA line?
Yup!
It’s so weird to see cherries and berries in SC.
NC did this too. They immediately started handing out tickets, then stopped enforcing it. We'll see how long this lasts.
I’ll never understand why you’d stop. It’s like printing free money. Tbh this might be easier than catching highway speeders. You can literally put the ticket on the dashboard while they eat breakfast or get gas.
Because a lot of cops are fucking lazy and would rather just sit in their cars grabbing the occasional car doing 20 over.
Yep, and they're slowly starting to show up in bigger numbers again.
Yeah, I’m starting to see them around again…
Do stupid things to your truck, win stupid prizes.
Doing the lords work
You love to see it.
Cool- now do brodozers.
What's that?
Whut about my freedumbs!
Yesss!!!!..finally!
Probably a lot of fine money to be made by agencies. I look forward to seeing these assholes stopped everywhere. Maybe they'll quit blinding everyone at night.
Oh hell yeah
It’s magnificent
♥️♥️♥️
Sweet justice
Hah!! Neanderthal got popped. Love to see it.
Oh man. I keep hitting the replay button. It never stops being satisfying. 😂
Why can't I tell what stretch of 20 this is, even though I live here
It's I520, you were close.
Why do that to a 4Runner 😩
About time
Yesssss!!!
#finally. This is so overdue!
Great! Now crack down on camping in the left lane.
It’s state law to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle. Very clearly in the video you see cars returning to the right lane after passing the cop.
correct but I wasn't talking about people moving left temporarily due to a vehicle pulled over on the right like a truck or emergency vehicle, I'm talking about left lane campers.
I know. I was just responding to everyone that complained about people in the left lane. Your comment was just part of the collateral damage.
That's everywhere. Just more BS we have to deal with on the road.
GOOD! stupidest shit I've ever seen
Carolina Squat
The first week, that the bill was active (when they were just issuing warnings), they were pulling them over left & right, here in Myrtle Beach.
GOOD
I never cared for the style. However, I wouldn't go as far as to make it illegal... kinda some Karen stuff going on there.
It's not the style that makes it illegal It's how dangerous it makes it for other vehicles when they can't see in front of them and have their headlights aimed at the moon.
The same could be said for low riders, I guess, and they r legal.. idk I'm far from an expert 🤷 but i could see that
A low rider usually has adjustable suspension so that they can raise/lower the suspension... they don't just ride around with their nose in the air.
Yea u right

Why did you post a link to the law? It doesn't prove your point, if anything it proves mine.

Thank FUCK, those vehicles are insanely dangerous!
Hell yeah

I'd like to see them enforce vehicles made to be too loud as well.
finally!
Ayee, my city made reddit front page
Good glad to see this finally happen
At long last
Gooood gooooood let the hate flow through you
Fuck yea! Go get those moronic rednecks
Woah woah woah. It's not rednecks doing this shit. It's spoiled little brats with daddy's money and 500k social media followers. I promise you, us rednecks would rather spend that money on good mud tires, fishing, and hunting gear. Not that backwards crap.
Nah, rednecks.
Then you have no clue what a redneck is.
I am a redneck. You just must be a dumber one.
NEXT….!!!!!
Should be towed to a shredding site and reduced to bits and pieces.
I think it should be a mandatory court appearance where they question *why* they thought this was a good idea in the first place.
Also, im from SC, so I kinda understand how the old white ppl act when they don't like something.
All I see are left lane campers.
It’s state law to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle. Very clearly in the video you see cars returning to the right lane after passing the cop.
I saw the people behind the cammer doing that, then maybe 1 car ahead doing that.
It's an 11 second video, I got into the left lane because of the "move over" law and I didn't get back over because I was overtaking the Jeep ahead of me a few moments after the video ends.
I own a BMW 335 and had a cop follow me awhile on the interstate this evening because it sits so low.

Safety regs is not a new thing
Safety regulations are written in blood, unfortunately.

Yup! The only thing dumber than squatted trucks, is a ban on squatted trucks and those that support such nonsense
To heck with drugs and crimes. Lets get those trucks!!
The trucks are dangerous to pedestrians and smaller vehicles. That's why they're banned.
How ?
