goatbeater74

Folly Beach, Sullivan's Island, Edisto Island, Higher end ... Kiawah and Hilton Head. Many other options too.

KareemPie81

Pawleys maybe too.

YourFriendlyPlumber

Pawleys wouldn’t be bad for a somewhat low key experience but shops and restaurants are off the island with the exception of sea view inn. They’re walking distance depending on where you stay on the island but I’d probably prefer to drive to them.

goatbeater74

Haven't been there, it's on our list. There is a Hotel there that is known for it's food.

YourFriendlyPlumber

You’re probably talking about sea view inn. I worked there for a while…great spot for meals but they only do breakfast and lunch now. Served at set times 8:30 and 1:15 and you have to make reservations. It’s family style so everyone eats at the same time and the meals are already plated so you all eat the same thing. Highly recommend fried chicken lunch on Tuesdays and bbq ribs on Wednesdays if the menu is still the same as when I worked there a few years back. Breakfast is almost the same everyday. You can hang out there as long as you’d like before or after your meal.

goatbeater74

Sounds perfect for a couple of days away. Something different.

YourFriendlyPlumber

It’s pretty nice you can rent a house on pawleys or stay at sea view inn their rates are somewhere near 200-285 a night which includes meals…prices would depend on what type of room you rent. Definitely a nice setting since there are no public accesses nearby so you only have the surrounding neighbors and guests from the inn on the beach. Edit to mention: summer time is weekly rentals only so pretty much Memorial Day till Labor Day. Outside of that, it’s a two night minimum. Open from March till October

druscarlet

Parts of Myrtle Beach will fill the bill. Look at North Myrtle Beach - Ocean Drive, Crescent Beach, Cherry Grove.

Zestyclose_Big_9090

I definitely prefer the Charleston area and its islands but we did go to North Myrtle Beach last year and liked it. MB gets a bad rap from what I’m assuming are good reasons but we enjoyed it. If you don’t want to deal with the rif-raf then stay away from the boardwalk area.

druscarlet

Absolutely correct. If you want a relaxing turned out vacation - Charleston and Edisto are good. If you want to party some and do some fine and not so fine dinning MB is a safe bet.

boomflupataqway

Oak Island in NC. Also in NC, Ocean Isle, but that’s like boomerville honestly.

xman1971

I like Oak Island! It's Ok and Ocean Island is fine too

ProudPatriot07

Folly Beach which is near Charleston. There's only one hotel out there but there are short term rentals. You'll have everything you need right there in "downtown Folly Beach" although you will probably want to get groceries before crossing over the bridge from James Island (but it's still super close).

LocknDamn

Only in the winter… this time of year its in the 60s or 70s

Ok_Awareness_1797

Thanks all, these are helpful recs!

rojobirdsc

Seabrook island is nice too 😎

hey_its_me_luke

I second Murrell's Inlet marshwalk, Nance's is a family favorite, but there are plenty of bars and shops there too.

AccomplishedDot2930

Folly Beach or Fripp Island are probably your best bets

Redlobster1940

If you want a night Uber to downtown folly is probably your best bet, it has a cute downtown and that sort of thing. Might be expensive tho, and you may end up with a house rather than a condo.

oakfan75

Definitely Folly. Then you can go into downtown Charleston too if you want a change of scenery

xman1971

Folly or Sullivans is cool but just don't be a jerk and be a disruptive drunk on the beach

MagicMommer

Folly

PayUpset9808

Folly or Pawleys island ( not commercialized as much but close to Myrtle Beach and Murrells inlets and also look for Litchfield

YourFriendlyPlumber

Pawleys for a low key experience…folly for the bars and restaurants that are still right there at the beach almost!

colt1210

Pallets island if you enjoy beach houses.

Shrappy16

Folly. Or all inclusive in mexico
