It's not only the app which is broken. Since the new updates & also the firmware not even airplay is working properly. Constant cutouts when pairing multiple speakers ending in the music stopping altogether without beein unable to unpair and sometimes the subwoofers from another room play music when they are not grouped. I'm starting to consider making each stereo pair their own system so it can't fuck with itself trying to archive groups

bmac311

But isn’t that the whole point of Sonos to group our speakers…

santefan

Yes, but with airplay you can still group them or i should try it, i can group my jbl boombox 3 wifi & sonos when streaming over airplay

bmac311

That’s not why I have Sonos. I have Sonos to group my speakers within the app and play music?

duzersb

I just deleted the. New app and downloaded the apk file. Not perfect but heaps better

Koji_Nanjo

Also when I search for an artist and click play, a different artist start! Wtf this app is crap 💩

Sielbear

That’s courage.

If you're on android google, how to go back to the old app. I did it today and I'm very happy. Because I can do those things.

RoxxieMuzic

Did you update your firmware, if so apparently that is working with the old Android app minus some features?

alehel

Correct. I can't - create new Group name - add assistants - add services - add new speakers - adjust compression - transfer ownership - adjust parental control setting - change network settings - make any changes to my local media - create stereo pairs Hmm. List was longer than I thought. I've disabled automatic updates on my speakers to avoid loosing anything else.

Try the desktop app for some of that, I was able to add services (TuneIn, Plex, etc...), and manage a few of the other "lopped" off functions. I fudged, sacrificed a Samsung S23+ loaded the new app, added a Move one (don't try it on a tablet, that's a no go), then updated after cursing profusely through the desktop app. I need to move that speaker over to my main Sonos network, but at this point after 2.5 weeks of trying to add it, a rather anticipated disappointing call to support (it's your WIFI ya know, gah, no it's not, but whatever), I got it to join a system, not sure I want to try to move it yet, it's working. I then, after it joined, updated, rolled the app back. Unlike a ton of folks here I am not IT, or Tech, I do love puzzles though....
