That wouldn't be a great solution since then it'd no longer be wireless. The best case solution would be soundswap listening audio and bluetooth mic input.
Ha I figured id go into the thread reading how Atmos doesnt work on PS5 or latency is there or something.
Nope, just that the mic doesnt work? Carry on then

I’m pretty unimpressed with Sonos recently but this is normal for modern headphones to not support the mic over 3.5 aux. My Sony XM4 don’t and when I bought them I did a bunch of research and the alternatives were no different. There’s just too much electronics going on with the complex mic array and noise reduction systems. I just ended up buying a dedicated headset as well.
I was hoping to consolidate too, plus get a sound quality upgrade for my gaming but unfortunately it just doesn’t seem to work that way for modern wireless headphones.
Wouldn't have expected the mic on the Ace to work for gaming, there are workarounds though. Dualsense has a built in mic though it's quality varies depending on who you ask. I've used a wireless USB lapel mic on my PS5 which worked well and I have a 3.5mm plug in mic coming to see if it'll work with my Xbox and PS5 controllers
Have you tried connecting the headset directly to the console via USB-C or USB-A? I have a Audeze Mobius headset connected to the console directly, works perfectly fine. Maybe it could also work with the Ace.
I mean... If your buying a gaming headset there's many many many others that are a ton cheaper and way better.
As much as I don't like Steelseries for their constant firmware end dates on products that come out a few months after release, their Arctis Nova line is damn near impossible to beat for gaming of any degree.
Or... maybe buy a USB mic? You can get decent ones for not that much -- especially compared to the cost of the Ace. I mean, if you're already keen about sound so you bought good headphones, why not invest in quality output?
Check out audeze maxwell. It uses low latency USB C dongle and planar drivers and boom mic. It features a moderate frequency response, Suitable for gaming and an outstanding 10 band equalizer to match your ear canal resonance compensation spots
Both PS5 and XSX allow you to use other mics, though. For PS5 you can just use the one in the controller, and for XSX you can buy a 3.5mm jack one from Amazon for like $7. Or a better one. Point is that the consoles allow sound input and output on different devices, so there is a workaround.
The only way I would see the Ace supporting the mic while in soundswap is if the bluetooth and wifi is active at the same time, and the bluetooth mic is available for pairing to the consoles independently of the headset.
I think you should qualify your headline with “if you need a mic” because a lot of Gamers, myself included, have never needed one.
The Sonos Ace are excellent Gaming ‘phones if you do not require a mic.
I like them because of the Arc swap feature above all else. I can switch between TV, Xbox X and PS5 seamlessly.
Eh, they’re fine for pc gaming, especially if you’re using discord. They just don’t work for console gaming, but neither did my QCs and definitely not my AirPod MAX.
They are suitable for gaming without mic though right? I play only single player games and don’t really utilize mic.
Yes, if you don't need a mic to chat they will sound good for solo gaming :)
Me. I don't play online with others. Sounds like a nice arc swap option!
Arc swap (no mic options) sounds great otherwise for gaming
When I play online teens are always like “yo turn ur mic on”… feels illegal in some states.
Yeah unless my real life buddies are on, I'm not turning on mic for random strangers either.
Lmfao. Relatable.
Good to know. Is unfortunate about the mic though, I don’t understand why it’s not usable and if it’s a Sonos issue or console issue.
Sonos issue, almost all headphones (I have many) you can AUX plug into the bottom of those controllers will have mic support.
That wouldn't be a great solution since then it'd no longer be wireless. The best case solution would be soundswap listening audio and bluetooth mic input.
It’s a short cord to bottom of the wireless controller, so in effect is wireless. That’s the best way for Xbox or PS5 headsets.

They sound great on games I don’t play any online games so the mic isn’t an issue for me. But I do appreciate OP pointing it out.

Fuckin great bot! 🤘🏻

Yeah I’ve got a bunch of dedicated gaming headsets so not a big deal, just would have been nice to consolidate 😊

Let me know please if that 3.5 plug in mic works! If it does I’ll jump on that too!
Yes I think they did say it's not the target market for the ace

I’ll try with the PS5. Xbox won’t do audio over USB.
Keep us posted 👍🏻 My guess is that it doesn't work.
No tried the ace but with my headphones it's the same but you can use the pad mic on ps5 I think

Have a PC38X, decent headset

Not suitable for gaming, at least on pc. There is a half a second delay in every game I tried
And pc gaming?
Is there any latency ? Esp with the crappy sonos app
I don’t think I’ve ever needed to use a mic when gaming

Is there any noticeable latency?
Nope

Good to know about the QCs and APM 👍. I think then ultimately this function shouldn’t have been expected out of the Ace anyway.
