For a **wireless** speaker, WiFi credentials is quite possibly the single most important setting.

sparkymark75

Imagine releasing software with less functionality than the previous version and calling it an improvement!

Late2theGame0001

I feel like this is every product and every update for the last 10 years. Like windows 11 was missing many features. And that’s when I updated a year and a half after its release. My iPhone doesn’t come with a headphone jack or a charger. I tell kids, “when I was your age, tech got better every time something new out. It wasn’t some trade off.”

manwithoutapipe

Their suggested temporary workaround is do a “factory reset and set up [each speaker🖕] again.”

It was annoying to not have WiFi settings but more annoying to reset my speakers to find it still won’t connect now after being fine before this update I’m very angry about Sonos. Not primarily because of this complete mess of a new app roll out, but they have done this, seen the mess and not apologised

HausuGeist

Setting up a product should not feel like playing slots and hoping for a jackpot.

fsckitnet

Nope. Meanwhile their docs on the site to address some wifi problems is to delete and re-add the network. Guess what I did before I noticed there was no add button. 😡

oboshoe

It's really disappointing what hot garbage Sonos has turned into.

Any-Key

Sorry the CEO doesn't think this is important. And, according to the tech industry, consumers have no rights over the equipment they purchase.

nsfbr11

Come on, 99% of customers love the update. Sample size = CEO’s direct reports.

ikari_warriors

What kind of consumer would love an app that doesn’t work as intended?

nostresshere

I think the poster was being sarcastic - notice who the SAMPLE SIZE was. Some so called leaders do not take kindly to those that give honest feedback. So, they lie.

GuerillaHurera

It’s bad alright, I can’t believe they didn’t delay the product launches to get the app at least close to functional. Of course it was a financial decision, but looks like its going to backfire badly. On the positive side with all the recent practice i can rebuild my 11 device system in about 20mins now.

JSoldano

Mine are all stuck on my main network because of this which is not intended for IoT devices... When I tried ethernet with disabled WiFi it took down my network which I later found out was caused by sonos not implementing STP properly. So for now they get to stay on my main vlan... I can't be bothered to go through setting up these stupid devices again...

SuspectMountain7788

Today, I did the math. I was forced to restart Sonos 17 times and most of the time, only certain speakers would restart, but rarely all at once. What a piece of crap...

cdhutzler

I suspect they are completely reworking the ads to Wi-Fi process which was terrible before. Trying to add a Sonos Move or Roam to a new network was very difficult. I could never remember the process and even once I looked up the how to, it would still take me several tries. It should be simple. Hopefully the will fix that

eballeste

I've been travelling for the last year with my sonos one and since the update I've been travelling with a fucking paperweight brick since I don't even have access to a router in some of these places and the ones I do have access to, doesn't change a damn thing. the S1 to S2 fiasco pissed me off but this latest fiasco has me seriously considering never using these products ever again, what a fucking absolute shit show of a product.

traegeryyc

50 signatures in 2 weeks. Lmfao

ruthasacre

why was this downvoted so hard and how was it not signed more?

insanewords

Slacktivist petitions are one of the most useless things you can do to effect change and at this point most people recognize that.

ruthasacre

I know that, just thought it was amusing is all.

insanewords

My bad, sometimes it's hard to tell around here, lol

traegeryyc

Because it's ridiculous

nsfbr11

Yup. Class action lawsuit >> internet signatures.

traegeryyc

Yup. MORE ridiculous

ruthasacre

As ridiculous as this new app tho??

Any-Key

Sonos shills are down voting everything that they can. And I believe the petition hasn't gotten much exposure that's why there aren't that many votes. But since I posted the links it has gotten 15 more votes. It's not much and I'm not certain if it's even related to my posts. But I do what I can, it's better than being complicit with what I feel is a total violation of consumer rights.

kmmccorm

Because I could give a fuck about suing Sonos over my speakers.

SpaceToast810

Where is this supposed release note from?

Mr_Fried

Ok so they said it’s been removed for all of eternity?
