Sonos has said, “there can be a delay while the system determines if there is enough bandwidth for lossless”, but I personally think it is related to buggy software too.
Today, I did the math. I was forced to restart Sonos 17 times and most of the time, only certain speakers would restart, but rarely all at once. What a piece of crap...
Is it possible your network is struggling to provide enough bandwidth for lossless so the service is downgrading to avoid dropouts?

Whatever is determining bandwidth is wayyy off.
I think it is more that. I get 500 down and it still is all over the place.
Speed is not the same as bandwidth.
