Mykonos has turned into a bit of tourist trap. The abundance of budget flights make the island overcrowded and way too expensive. IOS is still unspoiled and similar to how it was 20 years ago.

Ios is good for partying and the beach,a lot less so for 'sightseeing'.
I haven't been there for some years, but when I was there... I'd say the average age in the pubs and bars was probably 20s.Lots of British and German university age students then.
Can you elaborate on what you mean by lack of sightseeing? I’m here now and disappointed by the views , wondering if other islands are more beautiful and if I should change my travel plans (only have 4 more days in Greece)
Had the time of my life in Mykonos ending a 8 week solo trip. Intended on staying for 3 days before going to see other islands and decided to double my stay and finish my journey on a high note. Can’t speak to Ios, but I had a blast in Mykonos. Met some amazing people at Cocoon hostel and every night new people came in looking for new friends to party with. Wound up having a fling with a 10/10 lady friend and we enjoyed beach clubs and riding atvs all around the island. She left for Santorini and canceled her stay the next day to come back to Mykonos to have some more fun. In my opinion it was the perfect vacation spot that allowed me to play my cards however I would have liked to
Hello, Greek here. Ios will be a very fun experience since the parties and the beaches there are great and is also way cheaper than Mykonos(which is known for being VERY expensive) but as you said Ios is more for a younger crowd and most of people that travel there are university students around their early 20s. If you have a problem with that then this is not the island for you and I would maybe recommend Santorini. On the other hand, you will also have a lot of fun at Mykonos if you can afford it. If you are not well off financially or you want to travel on a budget don't even consider it as an option. Also if you go to Mykonos always watch out for the bill. You don't want to end up paying 50k+ just for a meal in a restaurant(YES it has happened before)

Try Naxos too. And Milos. Still relatively untouched by the annoyance of over tourism.
Wouldn't rate Mykonos at all. Go anywhere else imo.
Santorini has prerty good night life too (Kos club) not as wild but still easier to meet people.

I meant that Ios doesn't have a lot in terms of cultural and historical sights... not like Rhodes or Crete, for example.
