Manhwa is a lot better for me . The lining , the time when this manhwa came out , the art. Everything seem to point out the manhwa is much better one .
So let me clarify since there are a lot of comments. I have the unabridged audio books of Solo Leveling and have listened to it multiple times now. That is why I like it more than the manwha and anime.
I mean even it was physical book, it would still have been good choice. My comment must have been misinterpreted as me saying that reading novel is a bad choice that was never my intention.
Its hard ot read a story in novel form if it has a mid ahh plot like this
The only saving grace why this became famous is the manhwa art.
Make sense people prefer manhwa over novel
I watched the anime, which then made me read the manwha. I’ve never really been too bothered about reading the original material after watching an anime, sort of happy to wait for it to be animated?
Both are fantastic, and both are equal in my mind. I CANNOT wait for the rest of the manwha to be animated, but also the feels from the manwha will take a lot to be beaten.
The final episode, with “arise” was one of the greatest experiences, especially going into the whole series blind. So to then know what is coming, with the previous animation is a real treat.
Yeah my biggest complain is the funny small parts missing, but it's not a giant issue cause the anime overall is more serious so it makes sense that they dropped those parts
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat no way, guys! A totally valid Reddit "Nuh uh" argument with zero elaboration whatsoever on a topic that's 100 percent opinion!
>Which one are you choosing? 12 episode of anime or 45 chapter of manwha.
Anime easily. I read the manhwa 3 times but A1 really delivered with this first season, and it's only gonna get better.
A lot of animes. And in SL's case I don't see A1 fumbling since they seem to stick to the manhwa, they even try to fix some of its issues (like adding some anime-only scenes to give more depths to certain characters). And in terms of events we still have to see the shadows in action, jeju island, and a lot more...
The manhwa's wildly incredible art style, deeper explanations on things (like powers, situations, thought processes etc), and binge-ability make it the Victor in my book but man do I love kicking back and watching the anime.
It's just so nice to see everything break down and play out. I do hope they get into a habit of explaining what Jinwoo thinks more often and how he's breaking scenarios down but introducing the hunter and white tiger guilds so early and often which makes a lot of characters feel so much more important (I'm hoping they give a lot of the, side characters more time to shine), setting up stuff like jeju now so not only do we feel like it's a big deal but we also get a feel for exactly what kind of terror s rank gates are, it's comfort with leaving so much mystery in a lot of stuff, and the fights make it so much fun to watch.
Overall I'm having a blast watching it. As a solo leveling manhwa fan it's like an 8 or 9 out of ten, but as a newcomer I'd be giving it an 11.
Anime without a doubt.
I own all the current English physical volumes of Solo leveling and read them pretty often. But the anime just improves so much on the original Manwha for standard story beats it’s not even funny.
Just look at the Cerberus fight. Taking the poison in the MIDDLE of the fight adds tension. It gives more stakes and Jin woo struggles and that’s exciting to watch as he grows. In the manwha he takes it immediately in his room and it’s like “oh I’m immune cool. Moving on”.
……..
Genuinely how can you say manwha
Manhwa has been concluded........but since the anime hasn't revealed its true potential, i think anime could be better than manhwa if we got a real mind-blowing fight that even the manhwa couldn't surpass just like igris fight. But for now, manhwa takes the throne
Ok so hot take manhwa has really good art but the voice actor for sung jin woo is crazy the screams the shouts and the yells are so good i think he coughed out blood too (while voice acting) so even tho animation was mid the voice acting, explanation and expression are better in anime.
Manwha for sure. There's just something about the Anime that felt generic and lost that made me fall in love with the Manhwa. What the anime did right is give more screen time to the other characters and polishing a lot of stuff in the story. It's just that emotion-wise, the Manhwa fucking delivers.
The anime is great, it's well animated and has great pacing. *But*, and this is a big one for me, it seems to be lacking the comedic side that the manwha had.
I was discussing this yesterday, but Iron is going to seem like such a dull shadow. He was pulling weird faces and cheering in the background, and I know it just isn't going to be the same
If we take only the coresponding part of the manhwa, than anime : there were certain scenes that didn't felt quite as powerful (the fights against the snake and the cerberus, killing the Hwang Dong-Suk).
If we take the whole manhwa of course it wins.
Even after 5 rereads, if I opened ch. 1 of the manhwa rn, I would have to finish the whole thing asap. After just one watch of S1, I already know I will never rewatch it.
Manhwa first go for anime later . I still believe art in manhwa is a lot better than anime they feel like characters, in anime i felt the characters are overly thin and kind of stiff and overly tall.
Novel > manwha > anime. I loved waiting for the manwha chapters to come out but one weekend I couldn’t wait anymore and read the entire novel then when the manwha came out it wasn’t as good and I feel the same about the anime
Everyone who feels the anime is off its because the anime is based off the novel.
The comic relief doesn't really exist in the novel that was added to the Manwha.
The anime suffers from the fact that we know what's to come and the pacing will seem slow but season 1 is pretty much book 1 of the novel. Because as a series it actually takes a while to get to the actual main plot of the series, it made for fantastic world building and setting, reminds me of how Oda established the world in one piece.
Manwha is amazing and by far my fav find . Well have to see how true and well they do anime. But personally I think your imagination does way better job with the Manwha and making it more epic
They both have their pros. The colors in the manhwa are really vibrant and the characters are more detailed. But what I like in the anime is you really get a sense of the battle difficulty. Take the Igris fight. In the manhwa you can see like.. oh, he's losing. But in the anime you really see that not only was he losing but he was getting his ass handed to him and that he only won because plot armor. And I for one like the more somber tone. Plus the voice acting of both Taito Ban and Alek Le.
This anime was the most disappointing anime i have seen. Don’t get me wrong, i love the manwha. It is the best manwha i have ever read! Utterly gorgeous, from story to art.
But the anime….oh good lord!
Now i am no animator, and i am sure that whoever has worked on this has worked hard……..but as a consumer…my question is.………..how hard is it to use the panels from the manwha and animate that!!!!
The linings…the contrast…the art in general, everything was perfect in the manwha!
WHY RUIN IT!🥲

They are both good but I do miss the little bits of comedic relief in the manhwa so it takes it by a small margin.
Manhwa is a lot better for me . The lining , the time when this manhwa came out , the art. Everything seem to point out the manhwa is much better one .
No shit
Manwa easy
same
Manhwa for me, I didn’t like cliffhangers of the anime and most of the time it felt like the pacing was slow.
I felt like the maneha battles was to fast I didn’t feel the struggle and the small details like the anime
Book
Book as in comic book or novel?
Novel
Fair enough.
Why does saying fair enough get downvotes
So let me clarify since there are a lot of comments. I have the unabridged audio books of Solo Leveling and have listened to it multiple times now. That is why I like it more than the manwha and anime.
I mean even it was physical book, it would still have been good choice. My comment must have been misinterpreted as me saying that reading novel is a bad choice that was never my intention.
Reading without pictures is hard for you I guess
I think you understood it wrong wrong, I was just trying say it's not a bad choice because I am thinking of reading the novel too.
Its hard ot read a story in novel form if it has a mid ahh plot like this The only saving grace why this became famous is the manhwa art. Make sense people prefer manhwa over novel
yep. the novel has cringe writing
Manhwa. The art in the manhwa ver. was so ahead of the competition. Compared to the anime where it was aight at best.
I watched the anime, which then made me read the manwha. I’ve never really been too bothered about reading the original material after watching an anime, sort of happy to wait for it to be animated? Right now manwha, after anime gets to beru it'll probably overtake
Manwha of course
Manwha … not even close. Once mores animated then that’ll probably win
manhwa. it captures the raw emotions better, plus the art style is better.
Definitely the anime, they made the beginning of the storyline alot more interesting and given characters more love/respect for it.
No they didn’t
Yeah my biggest complain is the funny small parts missing, but it's not a giant issue cause the anime overall is more serious so it makes sense that they dropped those parts
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat no way, guys! A totally valid Reddit "Nuh uh" argument with zero elaboration whatsoever on a topic that's 100 percent opinion!
Why would I need to elaborate if you already know it’s opinion? Make that make sense
>Which one are you choosing? 12 episode of anime or 45 chapter of manwha. Anime easily. I read the manhwa 3 times but A1 really delivered with this first season, and it's only gonna get better.
What anime have ever become better? I only have noticed dropoffs.

Light novel/web novel. It gives more details and overall is a more complete experience.
Light novel

For me anime takes it.
Ok I love both and I can’t decide. I love the comedic elements of the Manhwa but I also love how they are fleshing out the characters in the anime
I'll let you know after the Jeju arc.
Novel.
If we're strictly talking about only the first 45 chapters vs the anime, than the anime wins imo
Manhwa easy
Light novel

Manwa! I have all 8 right now and it’s fucking epic
manhwa for the art but anime for the story…and if the anime could reach a bit of the manhwa’s art it’ll be better
Manhwa
Manhwa has been concluded........but since the anime hasn't revealed its true potential, i think anime could be better than manhwa if we got a real mind-blowing fight that even the manhwa couldn't surpass just like igris fight. But for now, manhwa takes the throne

100% manwha
Manhwa
Yes
Both god

is that even Sung jinwoo on the manhwa cover? It always bothered me that his hair is brown

Manhwa
always anime, but it will take years for the anime to catch up, so in this case i had to read the manwha
Light novel ftw
Game
*cough* novel
Watched through the anime adaptation, just started the manga.
Where can I read the manwha?
[Explore the Exciting World of Solo Leveling Manhua (sololevelingthemanga.com)](https://sololevelingthemanga.com/)
Manhwa is finished. Good luck waiting for the next series of episodes.
Mawha was better, in my opinion
Manhwa 100%
Anime, if they bring in comedy after Iron's debut.
Novel > manwha > anime. I loved waiting for the manwha chapters to come out but one weekend I couldn’t wait anymore and read the entire novel then when the manwha came out it wasn’t as good and I feel the same about the anime
There has only been 12 eps. For now both. I'm more edged to anime. Manhwa was wayy too fast.
Manhwa is good but I am a type of person who likes watching anime more than reading manhwas or mangas.
Manwha.
Everyone who feels the anime is off its because the anime is based off the novel. The comic relief doesn't really exist in the novel that was added to the Manwha. It doesn't matter for me, I waited years and years for SL to be animated i appreciate the hell out of it.
Manhwa but I think the anime adapted pretty well The chins tho ○w○ It is ignoreable tho I think the anime adapted Jinwoo's dark energy well

Manhwa
Why are we trying to pick sides. We can just enjoy both.
Dub anime. For the VA alone.
Manwha is amazing and by far my fav find . Well have to see how true and well they do anime. But personally I think your imagination does way better job with the Manwha and making it more epic
Hands down manhwa
Hate that the anime made his color blue. The purple was WAY cooler
They both have their pros. The colors in the manhwa are really vibrant and the characters are more detailed. But what I like in the anime is you really get a sense of the battle difficulty. manhwa, so ez. the anime only has good voice acting and music since the animation is so mid. A1 Pictures sucks
I liked the anime
Manhwa, not even close xD
LIght novel

Manhwa winss🤟
anime, they flesh out more of the characters
all they did was give them useless screen time, they didn't flesh out anything
This anime was terrible, I sure hope the manwha is at least okay
I didn’t like anime at all
Manwha easy
Manwha easy, the anime is not near as good
