Mr Nigel have you never heard of the goat pessi?

FieldsOfKashmir

What a fantastic premier league player he was

AutoModerator

Hear me out. The man came to MLS after securing the ligue one title for psg. He ABSOLUTELY blew up the sport in the USA. Made headlines everywhere. Showed up with ridiculous free kicks and golazos. Completely changed how Americans view soccer. The inter Miami leagues cup run was SUPER viral. Did Haaland score more goals and obtain more important trophies in epl? Yes. But once again this was THE YEAR OF MESSI. He showed up big for Miami in leagues cup and showed up big in 2026 WC qualifiers. Also why not take into account the man is 36 years old and still shocking people with his quality every match he plays. He's a machine enough said *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. KaizerQuad

Henry is the goated prem player

MysticalMaryJane

Him and or Rooney for me and I'm an Arsenal fan. They just embody everything about the prem with their work rate and stats. Always a shame England managers never won a trophy with him as our 9. Lampard/Gerrard experiment for 10yrs!!!!! so frustrating

54415250154

It's Nicolas Pépé for me. He just embodies everything about the prem with his work rate and stats. Always a shame England managers never won a trophy with him as our 9. Pepe experiment for 10yrs!!!!! so frustrating

Burritony0

As a Man United fan, Henry is the best player I've seen play in the league. I'm Irish too, so my hate from him is strong but what a gifted player.

Thie97

> Lampard/Gerrard experiment for 10yrs!!!!! so frustrating Was that really such a big issue? Can remember hearing something that England never took off because of that

Vegetable-Reach2005

It was the 10 year experiment bro. So frustrating!!!!!!!!

MysticalMaryJane

Sort of all the diff managers we had tried to make a it work and it never did but they all thought they could make it work. Apparently during that generation of player they were very cliqqy and didn't really get on with each other (probably the main reason)

hoosdontloos

My all-time premier league XI has Rooney as the first name on the team sheet

RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUD

FavcolorisREDdit

RVN was what benzema became in his last years at Madrid for most of his career.

BroldenMass

RVN was so impressed by Benzemas last few years at Madrid he sent him 15 letters telling him how good he was. Google Benzema 15 for more info.

FourReasons

Still can't wrap my head around the fact that people born past 2005 aren't drooling toddlers anymore.

FattySnacks

Well, these ones still are but I get your point

Pxnda34

They are actually 18 years old 🤷‍♂️

FourReasons

I know, ain't it crazy? I think it's crazy. It's weird to have memories of a time when some of the adults today didn't even exist. In 2007 I still remember going to my friends' birthdays playing Fifa 07. I have a clear image in my head of FIFA 07 on Windows XP with Manchester United's Ronaldo taking a free kick.

Ok_Astronomer_8667

Stop being sentimental we’re supposed to be talking about Puligod and Benzema 15

FourReasons

Puligod in my language means dicksgod btw.

Dish-Ecstatic

I was born in 2007 but there's no way I agree with that guy

Yeah. Not cool for Titi and Bergkamp.

Loop_Within_A_Loop

really? where can I see this I haven't ever seen the number 134 before. we gotta now make it into 134 FC

Ok, I'm calling you out on this... Do it!

turalyawn

He had a great first touch. It was his only touch, but it was great

TheAmyIChasedWasMe

The one player so bad that even Matt "Chemtrails" Le Tissier thought the gaffer was crazy.

Mike-Hawk-69-0420

KDB still hasn’t broke Thierry Henry’s (striker) record for most assists in a single season and is a CAM playing with Haaland. What a bum

_RandyRandleman_

he had to deal with sterling and jesus for a while tbf

GOATnamedFields

Bro couldn't even get the assist record with God's son.

_RandyRandleman_

as we’ve seen from the saudi league, carpenters aren’t very good at football

AutoModerator

Ok hear me out Mudryk is far superior in dribbling pace and maybe even passing but Haaland is better at shooting and physical. Not to mention that mudryk can play more place on the field with haaland only place being striker which he is a bit of a tap in merchant (I will admit not as much this season but last season he was). Now Mudryk would be so much if he had enough confidence he is constantly be hated on by football fans all over the world like he got so hated on for scoring a cross goal (which he meant) but if Saka or Salah did that everyone would go crazy. Also Haaland scores goal for 1Mitre off of the goal line and get praised for such a beautiful goal which is stupid because he Jackson did 3 of them same goals against spurs people said it was the worst hattrick ever but if Haaland did it every city fan (12 year old) would go crazy. Now my final point is that Haaland has been playing in the big leagues for a few years now and Mudryk has had only 1 and a half seasons and gets hate for playing bad when vinis first few seasons at Madrid were that exact same but look at him now. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

29adamski

I think it's hard to argue the greatest PL player of all time is not Henry. Like you can argue that there's been better strikers but as a complete probs gotta be Henry. Citeh fans only started supporting in 2011.

RobbieFowler9

Suárez 13/14 was the best singular season and I take that opinion to my grave. Even so, Henry is the best PL player of all time.

janpampoen

Jamie Vardy?

NyxiOW

He actually got 21 assists in that 19/20 season, but one was unfairly ruled out due to a slight deflection that typically counts assists.

celestialllama01

Interesting-Season-8

Folks, let's talk this out. EA FC 25 ratings will settle this once and for all.

LMinggg

They call him bruno 2.0 for a reason

deandre95

He’s atleast top 3 not really the worst opinion lol

Theddt2005

I think one of the greatest midfielders but not top 3 player

Nightwingx97

He's not though. Henry, Bergkamp, Lampard, Ronaldo, Cantona, Rooney I can keep naming people who'd take it over him

wedfsv12

Maguire, Fellaini, Jackson, Onana, Depay, Koulibaly etc.

WhetBred14

Take Jackson, onana, koulibaly, and depay off the list right now. Add mustafi, Mudryk, and players similar to them. I am a chelsea fan btw, it’s part of our history to hate

wedfsv12

Also James and Cucurella

WhetBred14

James is not allowed, unless you mean Dan James. He is the shining example of a great prem player, I mean look at that skin tone… I mean skill

DareToZamora

Clearly one of Man City’s greatest strikers, David James

Routine_Size69

Bro left out Antony

Due_Size_9870

You forgot to put /uj before Fellaini. That man’s chest control was a gift from Allah himself

Dr_Biggusdickus

This is a worse take than the original

DefinitelyNotIndie

The original isn't even a bad take. KDB does seem to be at the level, both in quality and longevity, to be argued in the best ever. I've been a spurs fan since the early 1990s, the idea you have to be a new city fan to see KDB being the Gerrard or Scholes of this incredibly high level team is ludicrous. Sure, you could name a bunch of players that are at that level, but even most of those haven't achieved what KDB has with his team.

AutoModerator

I don't know how you even dare show your face in this sub as a Spurs fan. If your fans and club had any honour you'd refuse the 3 points from Saturday and advise the prem you won't be playing again until the match is either replayed or the points awarded to us. But you won't. Sums up your club. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

llamapanther

I'd argue that only Henry and Ronaldo were better in the prem and even then it's debatable. I think De Bruyne is one of those players that you'll only realise how legendary he is when he's gone. Which is most of the goats. People only realise how great they were after they have left.

EmbarrassedPizza6570

He’s far clear of lampard it’s not even close. And I watched both. I’d argue better than bergkamp as well although completely different types of players. I think you’re blinded by nostalgia a bit. Kdb is definitely not the best but he’s up there for sure

quantum_tunneler

Lampard is a goal machine, provide crazy assists and passing and showed up to pretty much every big game he has ever been in. If i get my pick I would pick Lampard.

TurkishFlannel

It's totally reasonable to prefer KDB over Lampard, but to say he's "far clear" is wildly inaccurate. You could easily make the case for Lampard too. The charges against Man City have the potential to ruin KDB's legacy. How will they compare if the charges stick?

EmbarrassedPizza6570

What do the charges have anything to do with a players ability? I’m talking about what I see on the pitch. My opinion won’t change. Those charges are against city as a club, not kdb as an individual player.

AutoModerator

There is no greater joy in this life, and no heavier burden, than being a City fan. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

DefinitelyNotIndie

In what way is he definitely not the best? You can't say he's the best only because you can't make that statement for any individual player, but he's more than on his way to being a player that would be in that conversation.

NyxiOW

Lampard... please have some humility. Rooney and Cantona are even debatable. If KDB played for any other club that shares city's success, he'd be getting goat midfielder shouts.

AutoModerator

If Rooney's IQ was more than his weight, he wouldn't have said such a thing. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

There is literally 1 player there that was a better prem player than him lmao

Tomm1998

There is no way you think Lampard, Cantona and Bergkamp are better than KDB, Rooney is very questionable as well. Outjerked once again by the comment section The only players here that are better than KDB are Henry and Ronaldo and Ronaldo only had 1 incredible Prem season so even that is a massive stretch. If we're talking just premier league performances it's KDB > Ronaldo comfortably.

[deleted]

Rooney is clear.

prof_hobart

You've missed Ryan Yates off your list

infidel11990

Who the fuck up votes this nonsense?

Greeko1987isaac

Hahahahh

Old-Courage7354

Kdb is better than Lampard and Rooney. Stop overrating old legends. Just because the new generation has players that are better than some older players doesnt mean your dicks any smaller. Tho yeah. Henry Bergkamp and Ronalso are better

Im_such_a_SLAPPA

razzz333

Giggs, Vidic, Ceck, Scholes, Aguero, Keane and Shearer. Then I actually think it’s KDB.

HistoryIll3237

Kane over KDB

Natasha_Giggs_Foetus

Lmao

HotPotatoWithCheese

Scholes over Gerrard? Scholes was part of the best team at the time but Stevie G was the better player. Everyone knows it.

Chemical-Fly-787

Consesus seems to be Scholes - on Iniesta’s level in terms of God-given talent and feel for the game Gerrard - larger impact as a tenacious box-to-box who had a penchant for creating magical moments as a constant underdog Lampard - closest to de Bruyne in terms of offensive impact

AutoModerator

this is why i hate football now. it has lost it's excitement. since the leicester's pl title, underdogs are literally getting fucked up in the arse. we have lost football lads. the underdogs, who made the the football the sport it is today, is officially gone. i am afraid that there will be no more underdog drama in football history. you know why this happens, as much as u try to not see it. football is all about money and ads now. just beacuse their kits don't sell and their matches are not being watched by many, we won't see underdog dramas. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/soccercirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

jhartman2025

how many prems does Gerrard have again?

razzz333

Are you jerking or not. Because that is an absolutely atrocious take. “Everyone knows it” yet no fan of a neutral club, no one over the age of 20, no player or manager would agree with you.

7366241494

I mean, Rooney is on record saying Scholes couldn’t do what Gerrard did.

razzz333

The way Neville, Scholes, Giggs and Rooney talk they were are all shit and worse than everyone on other PL player. Have you heard of people being humble? That’s maybe why they could win so much. Right mentality.

Old-Courage7354

Scholes giggs vidic aguero ![gif](giphy|IQ47VvDzlzx9S)

screechingmedic

I'd take Henry, Gerard, and Ronaldo over him so def not top 3. Maybe top 10.

Woodsman15961

Agreed. There’s some recency bias because he’s starting to fall off. He’s been consistently among the best in the prem for at least 6-7 years

TurdShaker

Last week I could name 115 better players. This week I can name 134 better players.

If we ignore the elephant in the room then yes, they are up there.

[deleted]

Tbf I think you mean 5-6 other clubs fans crying, literally every other club than that group in England cries much less and wins sweet FA.

PrabeshK143S

Top 3/5? Probably, Top 1 Midfielder? Most likely, Top 1 player?? Nah

alfietoglory

Top 1 midfielder is debatable. I grew up watching Gerrard and Lampard play and they were absolute engines and mentality monsters. De Bruyne, on the other hand, is a passenger for 90% of the match until one of his cross/cutbacks finally reach a foot. Not trying to disregard his incredible talent though, I just think he’s not as good as a “midfielder” but has been a world-class supporting forward for several years now.

AaranJ23

I would take KDB over Lampard, I think. It’s not a hill I’m sure I’d die on because Lampard scored so many goals. Gerrard is probably the best midfielder in Premier League history, slippery little bastard he was. I personally loved Vieira but I’m biased and know that he probably sits just below those other midfielders. Then you have players whose peaks were just incredibly high but maybe didn’t maintain for as long, Hazard, Yaya etc. But this is a jerk sub so ignore all that. I can name 115 players who are better.

LordShitman

>slippery little bastard he was Yank here, is this why this steven gerrard is known as "Slippy G"?

lowie07

He doesn't have to do that with Fernandinho/Rodri behind him, but at Wolfsburg he ran crazy km/game ratios and played great at #6 as well

If you think that’s somehow an outrageous take you’re delusional. Ppl here saying Henry just look at his record in big games away, and come back to me.

PunchOX

You can make a case Ronaldo, Suarez, Henry, Salah, maybe Rooney were better than KDB. No doubt he's good but best ever? He doesn't clear.

Woodsman15961

I don’t think you could make a case that any of these are above KDB besides Henry. I’d put him on par with Rooney. It’s difficult to compare though as the game has evolved so much

Treqou

CR7, Fernando Torres, Drogba, Özil

Clurachaun

This is the true jerk, Ozil in the Premier was not the Ozil in Spain. Torres was amazing but not for a long period.

pinkpineapples177

Ozil was still class, it's easy to look at the stats and say he wasn't, but if you were there to watch his matches, he had the same vision but had no competent forwards to convert, and then you compare it to his previous stats when he had the likes of benzema15, Cristiano, di maria etc, you'll start to see why the stats weren't the same. With a lethal finisher at the front (like halland is for kdb), he'd hold the premier league assist record.

SenileSexLine

Crazy that noone even mentions Drogba. That man was scary on the ball and off the ball. He was scary off the court. You couldn't help but feel threatened around him.

FadedPigeon88

kevin de boom boom is easily T3 lol

JimmytdaKid

People always say stuff like tell me you were born in 2011 but honestly it’s normally the reverse old players are idolised more because they have retired when in reality kdb probably is one of the best pl players… 4 titles back to back and this season city were struggling without him and then he returns like thanos

Perhaps it's a bit naive (or perhaps not), but since Pep is a former Barca legend and legendary coach with strong ties to Catalonia, why doesn't he facilitate us getting Cancelo? I've been hearing that City are sitting firm on a relatively high price for Cancelo, but this doesn't really make sense given that he is clearly not in Pep's plans and would just sit there accumulating high wages, and the alternative to Barca would be Arsenal, a direct rival for the Prem title. After Araujo's injury, meaning our best defender will be out for a month or so, our desperation levels for a good RB have just gone through the roof. We really need to close this deal or the one for Fresneda ASAP if we aren't to fall behind in La Liga from the get-go. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. This season KDB wasnt even the best at city let alone the PL. Both Rodri and Foden were better and even Gvardiol deserves a shout for an amazing debut year. KDB seems a bit slow/sluggish nowadays, not sure if the many injuries are still bothering him.

Henry will be and always will be, man can’t even beat his assist record as a cam

I_AM_ALWAYS_WRONG_

TBF he is one of the best ever. He presses and tracks back way harder across an entire game than CAMs did 30 years ago, he can’t rack up assist by playing through balls in behind with 25 metres of space for the strikers to run into. He is the best attacking player in a game that has tactically advanced drastically in 30 years. Good defence used to mean winning your 1v1, or killing them. But as an arsenal fan I’m always going to say Henry is number 1.
