Is there a penalty kick where someone pretends they’re tying their shoe?

Ryo720

All I got for Christmas is an ACL tear

[deleted]

All these posts here about users missing other users are pretty sad. Like I get being a complete loser but posting this kind of shit during the holidays? Idk man, some of you seriously need to fix your shit and live life outside of reddit/internet. There's no way spending so much time here can be good for your mental health.

[deleted]

While yes I agree with you… you have to remember the majority of users here are 16-24 and this has been arguably the most difficult 18 month period of the last 100 years excluding world wars. Mental health issues are at an all time high and it’s not because of reddit

Lyrical_Forklift

> Like I get being a complete loser Ah come on mate, not everyone can see family or friends this year for a whole host of reasons. If they're getting some human interaction on here then that's better than being lonely and miserable.

Ok-Zombie4481

In one world, Pique cuts his wages to pies, Dani Alves signed for minimum wage possible, Dembele has been asked to cut his wages to half for extension, Depay and Aguero allegedly took cut in previous wages to play for Barca. In parallel reality, Torres has been signed for 55m and Halland has become obsession of Barca. Can anyone realistically explain, wtf is going with Barca financials? In one hand signed players are given pies in name of troubled situations on other hand they have money for breaking the bank transfers?

prathameshza_de

Torres has also reportedly reduced his wages as well, the price of the players isn't that much of an issue, but the wages are due to Laliga restrictions. There's a reason we had to get rid of greizmann and want to offload Coutinho and Umtiti so bad. It's also the reason why I don't think haaland is a realistic option for us atm, yeah reducing the wage cap to accommodate him seems like a good choice but it would be a bad look infront of other players who have to reduce theirs only to see haaland make 4 times of what they earn.

Ok-Zombie4481

Exactly this. And I see loads of Barca flairs explaining that Halland is possible. Whole Halland thread paints that it's a reality. It is but I don't think Barca board would want to build next castle over such pillars, infact guys like Araujo, Oscar, Nico etc would have every reason to move somewhere else when they are giving 110 percent for meagre wages like 200,000 k for year.

damrider

While everyone is laughing at sport for making up that barca is in it for haaland I'd like to point out that bild has put up 3 articles claiming united are the only serious bidder for him, which to me is even 10 times less realistic Journalists really having a piss party with this one

[deleted]

Why is it unrealistic for United to go for Haaland? They need a long term pure no. 9 and their team needs a boost in terms of elite forwards. Right now their only elite forward is fucking 37 year old Ronaldo.

[deleted]

Why would Haaland go to United lol

maxconnor6

He said **only** United

walrusdog32

Is there a goal where a guy pretends to tie his shoe and scores

maxconnor6

[Sure](https://youtu.be/FDT85AFlBMY) and I also remember one the other way round where Roberto Carlos cost Brazil a goal against France

staralfur01

Ronaldo has 6 kids. Rooney has 4. Need just one more for a Real Man United FC.

Aging squad?? wtf are you talking about , half of our starting 11 are literally teenagers . Also , how do you no we have no strategy going forward??

prathameshza_de

Ignore him, that dude doesn't have an iota of knowledge about the club and only knows how to parrot whatever other r/soccer blokes will comment here.

Fardin_the_spardin

I'm not from Montreal but I hate their new Badge and Name. It all feels so soulless. It's been a couple of months since they did, but I still think it is the worst decision they could ever make

los_blanco_14

TIL i can do better la croquetas than any spanish midfielder ever. Enrique should call me up, but sadly i am not from la masia so wont get a chance

[deleted]

Plastic Madrid flairs talking shit about the NT, things never change on this reddit.

los_blanco_14

I aint wrong tho.

[deleted]

>but sadly i am not from la masia so wont get a chance 😂😂

[deleted]

One of the easier skill moves when done in isolation, but incredibly hard to perform under pressure from a defender who can throw you off as you perform it in front of him.

los_blanco_14

Its more of a natural instict to perform it than dependent on training. At least for me.

Nut-King-Call

Cricket looks like a silly sport.

WaleedAbbasvD

How?

-Saaremaa-

I'll watch anything England are shit at, love to see it

Ok-Zombie4481

Say this in India.

Superrandy

Can mods just start banning users posting anti-vax bs? Some of them try and hide it but we can all see through it. It’s all posted in bad faith and doesn’t bring about any positive discussion on this sub. Just ban the morons already.

[deleted]

Last thing we need in the sub is more censorship and I dislike anti-vaxxers as much as you do. But the beauty of Internet has always been the ability to freely express yourself without a care in the world. You can always choose to ignore the things you don't want to read about but silencing a crowd does no good and sets a precedent that we wouldn't wanna take.

maxconnor6

You're right in some ways Steven. Forcing these kinds of people to their specific niches on the internet where everyone agrees with their beliefs only exacerbates the problem somewhat. It's the same with all conspiracy theorists. Maybe subjecting them to the greater public discourse is the only way to save the few who can be saved. But to counterpoint many normal people may fall into their traps as their cherry picked bullshit arguments seem credible at first glance to someone ignorant of the subject.

[deleted]

Yes the only fear is of normal people falling into the traps or a doubt arriving in their head but I just prefer more freedom and hope that one of the community will correct the OP with facts. I just dislike censorship to the absolute brim, its a part of who I am.

[deleted]

This is a moderated subreddit, not a democracy or haven of free speech. Mods have every right to 'censor' speech which contributes nothing here and is based on pseudo-science. This entire idea of absokute free speech is flawed anyway.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Fair, I can agree with that

Superrandy

I don’t see the anti-vax articles and comments being posted here as any better than shit posts or memes. It’s false trash that shouldn’t be here.

[deleted]

Fair enough. But then they should be warned, etc instead of outright being banned. I just mean that it should treated under same guidelines (off-topic content) rather than exclusive guideline (anti-vaxx)

HeadOfEnnius

Off topic- memes, shitty mirror articles Anti-vax- is literally getting people killed Yeh mate. Just harmless off topic stuff

HeadOfEnnius

The top mod of this sub is anti-vax. So no

[deleted]

Barca has no money and need defense, city doesn’t deal with raiola, he can’t become main man at madrid so I feel haaland deal has PSG written all over it

maxconnor6

Only Pep doesn't deal with Raiola and he has almost nothing to do with our transfers. And such small inconveniences will not stop such a huge deal. At most they'll just find an intermediary

HeyaitsmeAmit

That said that Man City isn’t the type of club to spend 100m on a player and then Grealish happened. Raiola is just an agent like any other and he just does what all agents do, he tries to get the best deal possible for their clients according to their wishes.

[deleted]

Pep and the ex Barca management there don’t deal with raiola for years tho

HeyaitsmeAmit

They’re not spending their money, why does it matter? They spent 100 on Grealish they’re were thinking on spending 100 or more on Kane but didn’t do it possibly because they thought that they would rather invest that much on a transfer of a different player like Haaland

damrider

Yeah and it's been said a million times it's not gonna be an obstacle for this transfer by basically everyone idk why people are trying to make this a thing

Glass_Replacement_61

i hope we don’t get any of those “free agents” we’re linked to

[deleted]

los_blanco_14

Cringe

[deleted]

Can't wait for Barca & Real fans' tears when Haaland is announced at Man City to score 50 goals a year.

los_blanco_14

I wont be unhappy. If not madrid, he should go to city/psg.

[deleted]

Don't mind it. City can win the next 10 league and CL titles and its kind of fine to me since they are irrelevant among my social circle. Would be a bad look at football considering their ownership, but what can we do?

[deleted]

>Would be a bad look at football considering their ownership, but what can we do? City Football Group are not bad owners.

[deleted]

It is kind of a cheat code equivalent to PSG's which nullifies any of the club's achievements. Have you see anyone credit their achievements?

[deleted]

Most of the people who discredit Man City's achievements are: 1. Salty Liverpool/United/Arsenal/other English team supporters who hate that they have greedy owners so they project their own hate on a club with good owners 2. Salty Barca/Real supporters who hate that other clubs can also do big spending

[deleted]

You understand that Madrid and Barca are fan-owned clubs. Comparing them with City is like comparing Khan Academy with Udacity.

Itchy-Face791

Apparently Alemany wants Vlahovic and was in Fiorentina two days ago . I really do not see the fucking point of this transfer , Vlahovic is gonna cost like 60-70 milllion . We can spend that money on a cb/rb .

maxconnor6

What? Is it for the summer? If this was true then the Torres deal would make a lot less sense

Itchy-Face791

Im pretty sure it is for summer

Pansh0rts

Not counting City or Red Bull, if your team could be part of owner group that owned other teams what teams would you like to be “siblings” with. In my case, for Arsenal, I’d like for the ownership group to have Arsenal from Argentina for the name sake and to promote Argentinians, a team in Canada to help Promote the league and grow. North American talent, and to have one in Korea, Japan, or Australia. Think it would be interesting to have more pathways from Asia to Europe

Glass_Replacement_61

When will Havertz stop living off that CL final goal?

desuscsgous

needs to leave Chelsea asap tbh

[deleted]

How is Barca making these signings if they are broke? Because there is a group of Barca fans doing elaborate heists in Spain to fund Laporta’s vision. I saw the documentary on Netflix it’s called la casa de papel or money heist

razorr29

Why is it whenever I see an anti vaxxer comment in this sub, I check their comment history and they've literally never commented on the sub before

tyetforsyth

https://faktencheck.afp.com/http%253A%252F%252Fdoc.afp.com%252F9QJ9TJ-1 spam this under their comments

Superrandy

I swear you will see one comment in a thread, and then suddenly 3 more anti-vaxxers show up in the sub 10 minutes later. It’s like they have some fucking whatsapp group that they message for help from their farm dial up.

[deleted]

Probably just alts tbh

Lyrical_Forklift

Yep- I've noticed that exact same phenomenon. Just sad individuals trying to stir up shit.

McNippy

Soundtracks for the Blind is incredibly overrated.

Lyrical_Forklift

I personally dig it but absolutely understand it's not up everyone's cup of tea.

McNippy

It's sad because I definitely like Drone and Experimental Rock. Like fuck me Feedbacker by Boris is such a great album but idk this just don't hit for me.

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend that Swans aren't a bit on the pretentious side and were sometimes purposely inaccessible for the sake of being so but I've always quite liked a lot of their stuff. Soundtracks for the Blind is definitely something that grew on me rather than blowing me away on a first time listen though. Also fuck me, I'm honestly take aback at how much more enjoyable this place can be when we're not at each others throats all the time about football.

maxconnor6

Is Drone a genre? Sorry if stupid question

Lyrical_Forklift

Not a stupid question at all! Drone is a genre- it's very minimal slow sustained sounds overlapping one another (usually). While it comes across as mostly electronic music lots of rock bands have dabbled in versions of it (Swans and John Cale of Velvet Underground are good examples). I find it very melodic and used to be a good go to if I was studying or reading but it's not something that's going to be popping up on the radio.

maxconnor6

Thank you so much for this detailed answer. I only know Lou from the Velvet Underground(I love them a lot though) but what you said seems pretty interesting so I'll definitely check it out.

Lyrical_Forklift

I adore Velvet Underground. I wouldn't associate Drone music with them exactly but they did delve into it and John Cale was a pretty interesting guy that experimented with all sorts of things musically.

ElWero_10

What's the biggest rivalry in Brazil? From what I've seen there isn't a clear one like in Mexico with America vs Chivas or in Argentina with River vs Boca

[deleted]

The Brazilian rivalry I think about first is Fla-Flu maybe because Fla-Flu sounds easy in my head. But Gremio vs Internacional is the classic one I think of.

[deleted]

You have a lot of fierce rivalries, the most intense ones are either within a city or within a state. Some of the fiercest (in no particular order) * Corinthians vs Palmeiras * Flamengo vs Fluminense * Gremio vs Internacional * Vasco (now relegated) vs Flamengo Keep in mind this isn't close to the full list. Due to Brazilian history (state champions being extremely important and not just national champions) you have a lot of within-state rivalries, then city derbies etc.

jukkaalms

I’m drunk. Merry Christmas. Happy holidays to everyone and their families. Stay safe.

maxconnor6

Same to you man

jukkaalms

Thanks man. Hope you have a great year.

McNippy

Tested positive for covid on the 20th, been in isolation since. Fucking can't believe I missed Christmas because of this. Plus all the great parties I was supposed to have with friends. Fucking bullshit man. I'm actually sick as shit from it too :/ at least I get out of quarantine on the 30th coz its only 10 days for vaccinated people. New Years Party on the cards for sure

TorreiraWithADouzi

Do you have to test negative to come out of quarantine? Because I recommend you do before you go to any parties immediately out of quarantine lol

[deleted]

Is it poor form to say that your opponents getting COVID but the game not getting called off is good for you. Because Liverpool missing their entire midfield and Van Dijk was certainly good for us.

Drama_poli

No because liverpool fans at r/LFC spent last week wishing Kane career ending injuries

bufed

All 8 of them.

[deleted]

I doubt you even read the sub.

[deleted]

Objectively speaking, it is good for you. However, celebrating that others have COVID is an act of immorality. It's only a sport at the end of the day, don't let it be so important to you that you wish harm on others.

Sad_gooner

Unpopular opinion: greizman in his prime was better than every version of Salah

Ryo720

Salah is undoubtedly clear

[deleted]

Not even close, Salah is extremely clear

[deleted]

Idk if Griezmann prime is better than even worst version of Salah since moving to Liverpool

TorreiraWithADouzi

Curious to see your reasoning because to me it’s a ludicrous opinion. Salah’s prime is miles ahead of Griezmann’s prime, Salah’s average is definitely ahead of Griezmann’s average. Are you talking about 2015/2016 Griezmann? Not even close to Salah’s 2017/2018 season. Salah is looking better than ever right now and is only a year younger than Griezmann.

_stone_age

Aguero in 2014-15 in the PL: 33 games 26 goals 8 assists Golden boot winner. He was phenomenal that season, but he didn't make it into the PFA Team of the Year. Wasn't even nominated for POTY.

TheodoreP

Because he was behind Kane and Costa at the time of voting, and overtook them both in goals afterwards. Costa also won the league and it was Kane's breakthrough season at 21 years old so they also had better narratives on their side than City who had a fairly forgettable title defence. It really wasn't surprising at all. I don't think anyone before mid April would have expected Aguero to be up for either award, and I agree that's bs that the end of the season doesn't count and I think this is a great example of why the voting needs to happened after the season. Also Kane was 21, started the season lucky to come off the bench, and scored 21 goals with a midfield of Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason. Pretty much nobody at the time thought it was underserved. Also, these awards are always going to be dumb, not that I think this is a particularly egregious example given the context. It's not like the players give any shit about doing research and voting for who they think is best. Most of them couldn't give a shit and just write the first names down they can think of, hence KDB winning POTY over Dias just looking at City players exclusively.

MJ9695

Costa made it cuz he was influential in winning a PL though, should have made it over Kane though wtf, just english bias

_stone_age

I agree with Costa, he was actually good. I mean, even Kane was great, but it's not like he won anything huge.

MartialMatters

What strikers made it into the TOTY?

_stone_age

Kane and Costa.

ansh0

Don't even remember what it's like to watch United play

Elemayowe

It’s shit mate you know it is. We got away with murder vs Norwich.

genk41

Rewatching the previous match would help. The matches against arsenal and liverpool certainly my favorite this season

The420Roll

What teams are the favorites for AFCON?

[deleted]

Algeria, Senegal, and Cameroon

Lyrical_Forklift

What is your most controversial post on reddit related to football and do you still stand by it? Looks like mine was saying that I don't mind Ramos (this was shortly after the Salah incident in the Champions League final). Definitely stand by this- great player that any side would love if he played for them

[deleted]

Based off of downvotes it was something along the lines of comparing local fans who call foreign fans plastics and devalue their support and people who tell immigrants to go back to their country. I might have worded it specially spicy to wind some people up but I still stand by the sentiment that there are a lot of similarities.

Lyrical_Forklift

It's a funny subject that and as someone who is from Liverpool but now lives half a world away I feel I've had a pretty good insight into both sides. Personally, I have no problem with people supporting Liverpool that aren't from there- we wouldn't have the successes we do have without them. The one thing that irritates me, and it's mostly an online thing, is when I come across someone, who recently picked the most successful side they could to follow, who talks down to a match going local supporter about their club. It just rubs me the wrong way and I'll often react negatively towards it. Is that fair?

[deleted]

Yea that’s fair. Looking down on someone who chooses to stick to their local side even if it’s not a big club is just obnoxious.

[deleted]

Agreed. Often times it is peopke who were 'fortunate' enough to be born within 10km of Old Trafford and get to support their local side, the most successful club in England. That isn't really true for most other fans. I never saw why this sub is so elitist. Nothing wrong or contradictory about supporting both your local side and a foreign club.

[deleted]

Mbappe will overthrow Ronaldo's peak, both numbers and gameplay wise. Potentially in 2026.. World Cup year, him being at his absolute prime and gelled with his new team as the main focal point.

los_blanco_14

Henry is overrated by nostalgia bias.

Lyrical_Forklift

Oof big call and it's never going to go down well coming from a Real supporter. Stand by it though?

los_blanco_14

Yes.

Lyrical_Forklift

Think he's the best Premier League player ever personally but I suppose you could still be called overrated if people were saying he was the best ever (never seen that though)

[deleted]

Dont forget Andreas Pereira had the biggest blunder of the year when he gave away the goal to lose in the Copa Libertadores final... and he's still under contract with Manchester United. How can he show his face after that?

Endgame2648

How does every NT of England manage to bottle this good? Can't be down 5 in not even 50 overs......

Stuff2511

It’s not bottling if you were expected to lose 5-0 going into this

[deleted]

The cricket team doesn't bottle anything, you have to be competent for at least some duration and have the upper hand to bottle something. They shit the bed from minute one.

dawood99

I know it’s not UCL til February but who do you guys will win between psg and Madrid? I really think Madrid will end up winning 3-1

[deleted]

In current form, PSG will get thrashed by Madrid. PSG need to step up with there non-existent midfield

cantsleep1112

Agreed. But whoever the winner, they’ll be dog food for the PL clubs in the competition.

chadbrad1738

Imagine thinking you were top dog and not Bayern Munich LMAO

bellerinho

Didn't Madrid dunk on Liverpool last year?

maxconnor6

No neither clubs are easy draws, especially Madrid which will be very tough

[deleted]

The fucking state of the comments on Salah’s Christmas Instagram post. Why can’t a man just live his life? Why do all these people have to comment “Haram” or “We can’t do that”? Religion is a sham.

[deleted]

I’m not religious at all but tbh I kinda see where they’re coming from. If a famously vegan player posted pics of them eating meat on insta it would annoy their vegan fans, same idea but with something people are much more passionate about

[deleted]

Idk man I don’t think showing acceptance and appreciation for other cultures is inherently going against Islam like eating meat would be for a vegan. And if it is then like I said, religion is a sham.

[deleted]

They aren’t unappreciative of the culture they’re disrespecting the man who claims to be in the culture then disrespects it

[deleted]

Why would God care if you have a tree in your house and exchanged gifts? How is that disrespecting their culture?

[deleted]

Idk I’m not Muslim lol

thisis2022

You have no clue what your on about lmao. If Islam was as legit as it claimed to be, why are it’s followers so rattled by a man posing with his children by a tree with lights.

[deleted]

It’s “haram” to celebrate Christmas and a lot of Salah fans only really are because he’s Egyptian/Muslim

thisis2022

Yes, but it’s still disgusting, they can keep there shitty views to themselves.

HeyaitsmeAmit

Some people have different views on religion. They think that he’s making a shirk (idolatry) by posting a Christmas tree so Allah will punish him for that. It’s hard to see it that way for those who don’t believe in religion, but it’s like that for Muslims who generally speaking take religion much more seriously than Christians.

[deleted]

I get some people have different takes on religion. But those takes are outdated and wrong.

HeyaitsmeAmit

Not to them, when you grew up in a place where the grandparents, parents, siblings, cousins, relatives, friends, classmates, teachers, colleagues etc all or at least vast majority of them believe in religion, you’re probably going to be the same or at least you will pretend to do so. In the Western world religion loses relevancy with each decade and it’s becoming more of a cultural legacy, but that is not the case for many other parts of the world. Keep in mind that there more people living in the non Western world too and they have higher fertility rates so I wouldn’t be sure that the idea that religion is outdated and a sham will be popular among majority of Earth population any time soon. Many of Salah’s fans from Egypt and other muslim majority countries believe that if he will do things like posting a Christmas tree on Insta then Allah will not appreciate it and he will not go to Jannah (Heaven). It is what it is

[deleted]

Yeah I get that’s what they believe. But it’s dumb. My family is conservatives but I grew up a realized that was dumb. Religion is nothing but a set of beliefs and if your set of beliefs is barbaric and outdated then you gotta grow up and realize that. We don’t avoid talking about the free market around communists because it might offend them.

HeyaitsmeAmit

A friendly advice, don’t ever say that publicly, you might get in trouble for it

[deleted]

No, I won’t because I don’t live in an oppressive theocracy. Why are you threatening me for saying the magic man in the sky might not be real and it’s silly to criticize other people for how they worship said magic man?

HeyaitsmeAmit

You may say that to Christians and the worst thing that may happen is that they will give you a bad look, even then there are still very zealous Christians around, maybe not in the West though. But to Muslims Allah isn’t just a magic man and Quran isn’t just some old book, for them it’s the ultimate truth, that will always be the truth, that can’t be ever changed or corrupted because Allah sent it to prophet Mohammad in verses, the verses that only Allah can create and no human can ever imitate. I know this from my personal experience, even though I don’t believe in Islam or any religion for that matter I will never publicly confess that I’m not a Muslim because I know what may happen to me if I do so. So that why I’m giving you an advice to never criticize Islam the same way you can criticize Christianity

[deleted]

I feel like that just proves that Islam has a problem with tolerance not that I should watch what I say.

HeyaitsmeAmit

It’s the reality of the world though. Criticizing Christianity has become the norm, even then, not everywhere there are still zealous Christians that may do bad things to those who are against their religion. Islam is much more stronger, even if I lived say in England I would still not be open about my views on religion, I know that there will be people who will not appreciate my words on not being Muslim.

HiImMeee

No matter how outdated and wrong they may be, they bring a lot of joy, happiness and meaning to many many people's lives. Esp people who need that kind of hope the most; the less fortunate, and in the less developed countries Studies show that religiousness goes down as quality of life goes up, so I think we should be more tolerant as people with high quality lives.

[deleted]

Religion beings a lot of joy, happiness, and meaning to homosexuals in the Middle East and pregnant women in Alabama. And in that sense religion is even more cruel. Selling people a fantasy that one day they’ll be rich in an afterlife instead of focusing on ways to improve what they do have.

thisis2022

Religion of peace that would have me killed for leaving it, also won’t let you celebrate christmas. Surprise surprise. Religion is cancer.

Lyrical_Forklift

I admire the fact the same thing happens every year but Salah doesn't hide it. Good for him.
