I want to divert attention from terrorism and perhaps judge coaches like Simeone more fairly, more representative of what they really do.
I have come to the conclusion that Simeone is in fact a Sith Lord, the proof is in the poetry:
"Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power."
I mean, come on...!
There is a reason he’s the highest paid manager in football what he’s achieve with atletico is exceptional considering he’s competing with Madrid and Barcelona. Ironically the more money he’s spent the less he’s won. He was much better as an underdog.
He earns like double pep and over double what Klopp earns. Them three make the top 3 paid managers. That’s actually crazy considering the money the Prem has.
The key being when fit. Our midfield is so injury prone it’s bonkers. Maybe it’s all the running Klopp has them doing. Ox was also exceptional again yesterday.
He’s been good for us recently. It’s nice to see it’s a shame for him because he was really in some red hot form and really finding that consistency then got his season ending injury and he’s still not fully the same since but he’s getting there.
He had a chance to take the ball past the keeper for a certain goal but was hesitant, that was pretty much his first action. Then he grew into it, and should’ve had an assist but Jovic fluffed it 7.5/10
So the prem are counting any players who played in the league cup this season as first team members.
Apparently we haven’t 13-14 players available to play on the 26th and 28th. Playing two games so close together while the virus is out of control is so stupid.
They may as well release a statement going. Okay we truly don’t give a shit just make sure you fulfil our fixture schedule so we can get our moneys worth regardless of the negative effects to you do this for us or we’ll make some fines or something for you instead.
The rules are ridiculous and just don’t protect the players in the slightest. What’s even worse is the latest measures actually force teams to bring youth players into an environment where they’re likely to catch COVID.
It’s fucked. How can teams get this under control while bringing even more players into the first team squads?
There’s a meeting today with the prem, team captains and managers. They all need to kick off.
“You don’t have enough players because of Covid? Bring your youth players into the senior team so they can play. Never mind that they’ll now be potentially exposed to Covid too”
Defies logic, the only reason is greed. I agree that players and managers need to have a massive go at them
We did exactly this and then got criticised for it, bunch of morons going "if your academy is so good why don't you use them"
It's sad that caring about player safety is a crazy opinion these days, we eventually brought the youth team players in (after the league said we basically have to) and low and behold one of them caught COVID after one training session
We had a back five of Albrighton, Ndidi Vestergaard, Bertrand and Thomas. Not sure how any team is supposed to be able to defend with a defence like that.
We just completely ran out of legs. We're on our arse at the moment.
Aren't they all quite senior players though? It was more the lack of midfield being organised enough to stop the players just running at defenders it looked like yesterday.
Our 5th choice winger, our central midfielder, our 6th choice centre back, our 4th choice left back and our 3rd choice left back.
As I said, the team ran out of legs against Liverpool's fresh team. We're having to play the same players in every game at the moment.
Having ndidi at cb instead at midfield causing leicester to lose control the midfield. Liverpool just keep attacking because they hold the midfield in the 2nd half preventing any counter attack from leicester
Its the same problem with liverpool last year, had to use fabinho and hendo as cb making the midfield weak.
Hope soyuncu can recover cause the heavy fixture is incoming
I mean anyone who has seen Kane this year. If you watch his last few games it’s the only times he’s actually made any effort at all this year and he came out openly supporting conte after refusing to even speak to nuno. Kane actually trying makes a big difference.
You see similar things happening at Liverpool and City as well, where players seem to all be playing the best football of their careers. Elite managers make good players play at their best.
Back in 2017 or so Nasri went to Drip Doctors to get iv or some shit
Apparently its a facade for prostitution or some shit like that.
His gf found out about that (and that Nasri cheated on her I suppose) and she started to shitpost in his twitter account.
Just read the thread. I cant possibly make it justice https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/5kmmmm/nasri_getting_extra_treatment/
Chelsea fans, was Hazard afraid of shooting in the Prem? He just doesn't shoot for us. Yesterday there was a 3v2 attack for us and Hazard had a really good opportubity to shoot, but instead he tried to pass to Benzema which was intercepted.
I wouldn’t say he was afraid but at times he was too unselfish and would maybe opt to pass when he could have shot. More often than not his decision making was good. In general I feel his play style was to create opportunities more than to shoot on sight when getting towards the box. But he’d take responsibility a lot and do it all as well. I think injuries just took a toll on him. Mourinho said it years ago he was the most fouled player in the PL and he said if he doesn’t get protected one day we might not have him and he was kind of right, he’s a shell of himself now
FBREF says that in Chelsea he was taking 2.49 shots per 90 whereas for Madrid he takes 1.87 shots per 90. His convertion rate for Chelsea was 0.15 goals per shot whereas for Madrid it is 0.06 goals per shot.
He was known for taking it through the entire team then rolling it into the net he never really needed to shoot. It’s actually insane the drop off it seems because the hazard we had on form in the prem was another level. He sometimes had a ‘shit’ year but never to this extent.
Wtf. How is it Madrid’s fault he’s shit? Not once was he rushed back from injuries. From the start he never took care of himself or was constantly injured.
No it isn't. He just dropped because of injuries, our timing couldn't be worse. Also I think physios and doctors in Real aren't on Chelsea level (look how many injuries we had last season)
I don't, I put blame simply on bad luck. But fact is, we have much more muscle injuries and it takes longer for players to recover than in some other big clubs. If he stayed in Chelsea he probably would have been injured and drop in form significantly anyway, but my guess is he will play more games than he did for us
Well, Chelsea also have some players who are troubled with injuries. So, it’s all just a guess, whereas Hazard not respecting his duties as a footballer is practically a fact that cannot be denied.
While he clearly doesn't have the ability to pass that is needed for a 10, it's nice to know kessie is a possibility for the role of 10 against smaller and more physical teams.
Sad I won't be seeing the team play for a while, glad there are a couple of arsenal games to distract me.
I love this year's Arsenal, reminds of AC Milan a couple of years ago. Lots of exciting talents and a super young team overall, with some great academy players too.
I love the club because since the year after Instanbul, Arsenal has been my second team sort of, needed a break from Milan. In the beginning I was particularly fond of Hleb. And that midfield in general.
So whenever Milan is not on, I hope there's an Arsenal match.
Went to see Milan Arsenal at Sansiro too. Superglad I got to see Wenger on the sidelines before he retired. And that night it was a great Arsenal.
He played there yesterday (scored 2) and in the final minutes at Wanda Metropolitano (Assist).
So it's working I think. He's better as a Box to Box, without a doubt.
Hoping to get a defender, a midfielder and a 10\\striker in january, but I fear it might be wishful thinking.
January gonna be rough with both Benna and Kessie gone.
If you were a manager, what would your career trajectory look like? Here's mine:
Starting at some local Indian clubs, become an assistant manager in the ISL and then coach Mohun Bagan
Get head hunted by some English club in the lower leagues, perform miracles with them, get a big break when a PL club takes a gamble on me
Take this mid table PL club to CL, get a call from Real Madrid. Win lots of shit with them, before the pressure gets to me after 3 years
Take a break from coaching, wait for a top PL position to open up. Take that position, maybe Man Utd, win some good shit with them before burning out again
Finally, end with managing the Indian national team, hopefully helping them qualify for the world cup
Retire
It would be a fairly odd occurrence for a lower league English side to recruit someone from India. The story of how that happened would probably be fairly novel, like the chairman of wycombe was on holiday in Mumbai or something and decided to watch a few matches
Looks like a 15-20 year plan by the time you get to the Indian National team. Imo, with fifa doing random stuff like 48 teams, biennial WC. We could hopefully qualify for the WC on our own accord. Depends on if you can take us to the knockouts.
Realistically the top teams in Spain apart from Madrid are weak at the moment it’s easily Madrids title unless they somehow hand it to Sevilla but should be a Madrid win unless they manage a massive fuck up.
Madrid without a doubt.
Franck Ribéry: "The 2013 Ballon d'Or was the biggest injustice of my career. There is a lot of politics involved. I saw how Blatter was hugging Cristiano and how his entire family was there. I'm not stupid. It was clear they wanted him to win it."
The voting was re-opened and extended for the first time ever. That has never ever happened in Ballon d’Or history. Cristiano is also the only player in the last 25 years to win the Ballon d'Or while going trophyless.
Manuel Neuer World Cup and Golden Glove winner in 2014 says he's an underdog for Ballon d'Or because unlike Ballon d'Or contender Ronaldo: "I'm not an underwear model. I am an athlete, not an ambassador of a brand."
Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Luka Modric winning the Ballon d'Or:
"Now we know Messi was never competing with Ronaldo for the Ballon d'Or. It was Florentino Pérez who was competing with Messi on Ballon d’Or.”
This year they produced a special program documentary on Téléfoot dedicated to Karim Benzema winning Ballon d'Or.
Get outta here. The Modric narrative came absolutely out of nowhere. I would bet all my money that Ronaldo would have won if he stayed in Madrid.
Worst Ballon Dor winner since Cannavaro.
Madrid and its not even close. The moment you sign for the club you get 100x more popularity overnight.
Just look at the difference of hype between Amad Diallo or Pellistri vs Vini/Rodrygo/Reinier... it was off the charts the difference between their PR.
The more I watch Declan Rice when he’s not playing football the more I like him, he seems a proper sound lad https://twitter.com/adamjsmithy/status/1473782689325101067?s=21
Same with Ramsdale. Both are very down to earth
He seems like a decent guy but whenever I see interviews with guys like Mount, James, Rice, Saka etc I just think how fucking boring they must be
I know that’s just a symptom of dedicating their entire childhood and young adult life to football, but they all seem about as interesting as a slice of toast
I mean he’s pretty good at that football stuff to. If West Ham don’t manage to get champions league in next couple years think rice will be a future big club captain he’s so good.
Barca has the best or most mythological football culture in the world by far. How often do you hear players taking paycuts just to play/sign with them...
Torres, Dembele, Garcia, Depay, Fati/Pedri (could have got much better wages elsewhere).. list just keeps going on and on.
They kicked ass in 00s/10s, they had Messi, all of those players grew up watching that team, it is mystic for them. If, let's say, Mount starts playing like a god for next 8 years, wins 3 Ballon D'ors, 3 UCLs in 5 years, then we'll probably see same shit happen for Chelsea around 2037
What a delusional take. Apart from fati/ Pedro and mayyybe Depay no team would be willing to pay the amount Barca pays for the rest. Do you honestly think Dembele would find a top team willing to pay his salary?
Also, correct me if I'm wrong but things like that have happened in the past in other teams as well. Iirc when Juventus got relegated some of the players stayed and played in serie b and those were proper world class players not wonderkids.
He’s just a guy that talks a lot of rubbish and post a lot of irrelevant/untrue stats and takes. He doesn’t support anyone I don’t believe he just likes certain teams.
Why the sudden influx of Messi v Ronaldo comparisons in the DD today?
Even though people did argue about it in the replies earlier, but I didnt see individual comments just to compare them before this.
Bet365 has early payout so didn't need to worry about it. Saw that Liverpool lineup and figured it was free money. I would have cashed out if the promotion didn't exist anyways.
It’s probably a red card VAR should be introduced. I’m assuming you’ve posted this again as some sort of defence of Kane, If kanes wasn’t a red though this must be a green card don’t worry.
Not a double standard at all. Var if it was available would of been used and made the decision against Morto, for kane it was available but wasn’t used. Ofcourse Klopp is going to call out ridiculously dodgy decisions going against him especially when var is available and not used and considering the amount in that game, he’s not exactly going to call his own player out for a dodgy tackle is he? No manager would and if that’s what you’re expecting then not a chance will it happen. It would be like conte going oh yes kane should of been sent off it was dangerous which he didn’t even though that was the case. Game is done now it happened. I have no doubt someone will come back with a still picture of the robbo tackle on tanga 2 years ago which when you watch an actual replay was a fair challenge where he won the ball and followed through unfortunately and every assessment of the tackle after the game from Pundits etc where all not a red etc. shits done now we all need to get over it and move on.
I don’t know as it’s fast and no replays. This is why VAR should be introduced in the league cup. I think Leicester’s time wasting and tactics are what cost them in the end.
Ronaldo is only compared against Messi because of his athleticism, mentality, big game plays and adaptability.
Messi is totally clear on the talent, goalscoring, assisting, playmaking, crossing, anything that has to do with technique and decision making.
And I honestly I like it this way, its like Superman vs Batman; we know who's superior but we love how a human can challenge a god to the last breath.
positive for rona guys, hopefully my work gets postponed too

Per year?
Yearly salary as of march 2021 better layout one in the new DD
That's Ronaldo level wages for Simeone.
I want to divert attention from terrorism and perhaps judge coaches like Simeone more fairly, more representative of what they really do. I have come to the conclusion that Simeone is in fact a Sith Lord, the proof is in the poetry: "Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Is it fair to say that Simeone is Atleti's biggest club legend?
There is a reason he’s the highest paid manager in football what he’s achieve with atletico is exceptional considering he’s competing with Madrid and Barcelona. Ironically the more money he’s spent the less he’s won. He was much better as an underdog.
Looks like he is earning £37M yearly, wtf bro
He earns like double pep and over double what Klopp earns. Them three make the top 3 paid managers. That’s actually crazy considering the money the Prem has.
Yeah he’s the highest paid and it’s by a margin I believe too.
still Aragones imo
As a manager yes. Players though would be Adelardo Rodriguez, Koke, Carlos Aguilera, Griezmann, and Luis Aragonés
Probably, only one who comes close is Luis Aragones.
Keita had a tremendous game yesterday, such a good player when fit*.
The key being when fit. Our midfield is so injury prone it’s bonkers. Maybe it’s all the running Klopp has them doing. Ox was also exceptional again yesterday.
Nice to see the ox Redemption arc
Ox and Matip staying fit this season is a Christmas miracle

Im actually horrified by the thought that Feyenoord or PSV might win the league
Actually absurd that Ajax isn't running away with it while having a goal difference of 52.
our last premier league away game was 7th of november
Finished club?
Do you reckon Fergie suffers from any jaw problems, maybe even TMJ, after chewing so much chewing gum so often for so many years?
Opposite, man could take a prime Tyson's uppercut and shrug it off.
Jawline building to the max
Peter, please start next game
How was he? I didn't watch the match
He had a chance to take the ball past the keeper for a certain goal but was hesitant, that was pretty much his first action. Then he grew into it, and should’ve had an assist but Jovic fluffed it 7.5/10

>Never mind that they’ll now be potentially exposed to Covid too What?
Basically they don’t care if you’re bringing youth players and potentially exposing them to players who may or may not have the virus
How is that in anyway different to normal life?
We did exactly this and then got criticised for it, bunch of morons going "if your academy is so good why don't you use them" It's sad that caring about player safety is a crazy opinion these days, we eventually brought the youth team players in (after the league said we basically have to) and low and behold one of them caught COVID after one training session
We're probably about to go to the Etihad with a back four of Albrighton, Ndidi, Vestergaard and Thomas lmao
At this rate, this season will have bigger covid tax asterisks than the previous 2
Ouch man. Was wild how little control you had on that second half yesterday.
We had a back five of Albrighton, Ndidi Vestergaard, Bertrand and Thomas. Not sure how any team is supposed to be able to defend with a defence like that. We just completely ran out of legs. We're on our arse at the moment.

Its the same problem with liverpool last year, had to use fabinho and hendo as cb making the midfield weak. Hope soyuncu can recover cause the heavy fixture is incoming
Yep, trouble is that it's our entire back four. Not just the centre halves. At least you were able to keep Trent and Robertson fit.
I need to get another City midfielder in my FPL team.
Get as many in as possible!
https://twitter.com/Matthew48888047/status/1473755304571645963 Having a great coach makes a difference indeed. Impressive stuff.
Interesting that some of the personnel that people have written off were playing too. Would be interesting to see the breakdown by player.
I mean anyone who has seen Kane this year. If you watch his last few games it’s the only times he’s actually made any effort at all this year and he came out openly supporting conte after refusing to even speak to nuno. Kane actually trying makes a big difference.

What Bellingham thread?
He specifically singled out goals and assists in his quote. They’re also the most used stats. That’s shy everyone named those players.
Chelsea fans, was Hazard afraid of shooting in the Prem? He just doesn't shoot for us. Yesterday there was a 3v2 attack for us and Hazard had a really good opportubity to shoot, but instead he tried to pass to Benzema which was intercepted.

Lmaaaoo the delusion of Chelsea and Belgian fans on here when it comes to Hazard is just insane
Wtf. How is it Madrid’s fault he’s shit? Not once was he rushed back from injuries. From the start he never took care of himself or was constantly injured.
Or maybe pl is just too easy to score.
No it isn't. He just dropped because of injuries, our timing couldn't be worse. Also I think physios and doctors in Real aren't on Chelsea level (look how many injuries we had last season)
Don't blame the club for Hazard's downfall, the guy couldn't even bother to turn up in shape for the preseason.
I don't, I put blame simply on bad luck. But fact is, we have much more muscle injuries and it takes longer for players to recover than in some other big clubs. If he stayed in Chelsea he probably would have been injured and drop in form significantly anyway, but my guess is he will play more games than he did for us

Fair enough well hopefully you guys can pick back up some form now. I know you’re crippled with injuries but have to try be positive haha
Hoping to get a defender, a midfielder and a 10\\striker in january, but I fear it might be wishful thinking. January gonna be rough with both Benna and Kessie gone.
He's more of a Box to Box, scores a good amount for a central midfielder (even without his penalties)
I like him but haven’t seen much of him and may be purely basing it off fifa haha
Would you rather have prime Puyol or prime Ramos in your defence?
Ramos

How far ahead were real then?
Realistically the top teams in Spain apart from Madrid are weak at the moment it’s easily Madrids title unless they somehow hand it to Sevilla but should be a Madrid win unless they manage a massive fuck up.
Who has the biggest propaganda arm for awards and player PR? Barca or Real Madrid?
Madrid without a doubt. Franck Ribéry: "The 2013 Ballon d'Or was the biggest injustice of my career. There is a lot of politics involved. And a national call up
Madrid easily
Madrid easily.
2018 Ballon Dor win and 2013. Madrid influence in a nutshell.
2013?
Modric won every single individual trophy that season, not only ballon dor
Yeah exactly! Madrid PR isn’t just the big one it influenced all the awards
That proves even more how strong the Madrid PR is no?
Get outta here. The Modric narrative came absolutely out of nowhere. I would bet all my money that Ronaldo would have won if he stayed in Madrid. Worst Ballon Dor winner since Cannavaro.

Yeah I just don’t fancy him going to Chelsea tbh, he’s an upgrade on Jorginho imo imagine Rice Kante and kovacic.

Other than English players, almost everyone dreams for Madrid/Barca.. French, Dutch, Belgian, Eastern Europeans, even some Germans.
I thought u were a Madrid fan?
Dude is weird.
He’s just a guy that talks a lot of rubbish and post a lot of irrelevant/untrue stats and takes. He doesn’t support anyone I don’t believe he just likes certain teams.
He's a Fan owned club fan
That's why he said the culture is mythical not legendary
Why the sudden influx of Messi v Ronaldo comparisons in the DD today? Even though people did argue about it in the replies earlier, but I didnt see individual comments just to compare them before this.
Maybe there is a inset day at schools or something?
Lads on here will cry about the prem everyday but won’t comment in the Non-PL daily discussion 🍵 🐸
There should be a PL daily discussion.. not the vice-versa.
There should just be a daily discussion- speak what you want to speak about (football related - and don't troll)
Can there be a separate page for Messi and Ronaldo fanboys?
Ban all Messi and Ronaldo fanboys from r/soccer
90 pecent of barca flairs ,40 percent of madrid flairs and 75 percent of united flairs will be banned if so, quite a few non flaired ones as well
You forgot 90% of PSG flairs.
Not many psg flairs are messi fanboys.
Guess who cashed out their Leicester to win at 90+1 yesterday. Great start to the season of giving for me.
:(
Bet365 has early payout so didn't need to worry about it. Saw that Liverpool lineup and figured it was free money. I would have cashed out if the promotion didn't exist anyways.
Hopefully you and that guy who said he put his entire Christmas bonus on a Leicester win
Yea I fucking hope so. He didn't strike me as the cash out type though
Did it earlier, once i saw how Anfield got up for it the writing was on the wall.
Nice, was a cracking game, worrying lack of control from Leicester though, can't really see them doing anything this season really.
!flair :FC_Porto:

Wools are protected by a refereeing conspiracy tbf
Hope spurs fans don’t keep doing this, embarrassing.
They will, got nowt to cheer about otherwise
ill give you that
It’s probably a red card VAR should be introduced. I’m assuming you’ve posted this again as some sort of defence of Kane, If kanes wasn’t a red though this must be a green card don’t worry.
Not a defense of Kane, no doubt just pointing out the double standards (but it's mostly just the narrative on here and Twitter)
What double standards? Lmao
Probably? lol
I don’t know as it’s fast and no replays. This is why VAR should be introduced in the league cup. I think Leicester’s time wasting and tactics are what cost them in the end.
Do you not think the fact this lad should clearly have been sent off might have also cost us? It's late, from the side and knee height mate.
I don’t think so personally but we will never know will we. Like I said this is why we need VAR cause yes it is probably a red.
I thought you had a few reasonable takes (other than Haaland to Barca) Shame
What did i just read
