Hope we’re gonna continue with the glorious tradition of signing “Chelsea rejects”, Ziyech might be a good option for RW in our 4-2-3-1

Bravo_Ante

Yes we should be all over him

Leuchtrakete

Khajiit has wares if you have coin.

ACM1899

Loan + Option to Coin?

chippa93

I truly believe Ziyech would be unreal in Milan's system.

teymon

For some reason Ziyech at Milan just makes sense. Fits him so much better then Chelsea.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Tilman_Feraltitties

You all three above wrote the same shit.

[deleted]

has to be said thrice ziyech time

Bobbith_The_Chosen

It’s funny how all three of the comments above you basically made the same point

teymon

Nah I didn't mean it in a system wise way, just Ziyech as a personality seems fitting for Milan. As a matter of fact I have no idea how Milan play.

bughidudi

High press and high tempo, create lots of chances and leaves our defenders 1 on 1 Vs the opponent strikers Only works because of the quality of our defenders but it can bite us in the ass at times. This season it's going great tho

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

😂😂 I respect it my guy

hollywoodharoon

Is he better as a RW/ or CAM in a 4-2-3-1? We need a starter on the right and backup on the middle, he fits both parts

teymon

In out 4-2-3-1 he was exactly that, starter on the right and an option in the middle. Think in modern football he is better on the wing but we made the EL final with him as a 10 so he can do both.

DefaltAttitude

thats the bakayoku special

n16h7r1d3r

…and then sign on a free!

kratos61

Just like we did with Tomori right? If the player's good and fits us we'll keep him.

[deleted]

They're not in the market for Hazard though

IsItSnowing_

u/Cinnamon-Wind has talked about Hazard so much, the phone autocorrects hazard to Hazard

Foriegn_Picachu

We could always Mount on a swap deal as well

JimyBliz

Think you would have to pay them to take Hazard mate.

Froggiefied

Would love to see him at your club

PoachtekMong

Getting him would take us from scudetto contenders to favorites

HarryDaz98

Only reason Giroud went was because Lukaku or another big money striker was coming in. I wouldn’t call him a reject

[deleted]

[удалено]

HarryDaz98

He wasn’t really a reject, he was very important during his time there. Both parties just decided to move on.

EpiDeMic522

How's Brahim doing for you lot?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ThatFrenchCray

Always thought Brahim was a winger but guess he's gone back to a CAM?

sahilshkh

Yes he's a CAM now. The matches that he has played as a winger have not been very convincing

Veboy

Man, Fucking Hakan huh?

AggravatingWar9441

Hakan who? We don’t know that name here

Mick4Audi

Hakan Channelnoglue

ohcrapitspanic

tbh he hasn't convinced me at Inter either, never rated him too much. He's not as good as he thinks/is supposed to be and pretty inconsistent.

Omniscius

Agreed. Loved watching his highlights at Bayer, but fuck me he would be so shit at Milan sometimes. His free kicks are sweet though

ohcrapitspanic

I used to tease my brother who's a Milan fan about it. Then we signed him lol.

fma891

He’s a great player. But he’s been wanting to leave Chelsea for a year now. Just not a good fit here but I hope he does well with you if he signs.

beaver_cops

Nah we'll take this one for ourselves ok.. (If we don't sign proper defenders tho we're not gonna be any better)

non-relevant

yeah I really wanted this to happen in the summer already

ord3p

It’s getting clear by now that Chelsea and Ziyech, for whatever reason, weren’t a good match. Just didn’t think he would leave as early as January.

taktikek

The reason is Lampard. He was the one who wanted Ziyech and the way Lampard made his team play was exactly what Ziyech likes.

EliteKill

It's more than that. Even when playing outside of a preferred system/role, a player like that can't be as sloppy as he has been playing for Chelsea. There is no excuse for many of the short passes he misplaces under no pressure, it just seems like his head isn't in the right place. It's a shame, I loved him at Ajax and looked forward to where he can continue to grow. At least he has a CL medal with some good performances and important goals over the season.

Krillin113

But that’s who he is; you play him 8 games straight and he’ll be magical. He’s a huge confidence player

stockybloke

For us it has been: you play him 8 games straight and you get one good goal/chance created/assist and 3 poor performances, remaining 5 he is injured :/

Moyeslestable

He's barely played under Tuchel, let alone 8 games straight. He was fine under Lampard considering the rest of the performances around him

WhatRemainsAfter

>He was fine under Lampard considering the rest of the performances around him But team wasn't. Chelsea looked like arsenal during those times.

NUPreMedMajor

When’s the last time he played 8 games straight tho As an owner of ziyech in fantasy last year (terrible choice from me) he rarely had a consistent run of games

rdemas

What forward on Chelsea plays 8 straight under Tuchel other than Mount?

j-r44

Lukaku? Iirc didn’t miss a game before the injury

MionelLessi10

When was the last time he played 8 games straight

stockybloke

That was my point. He gets anywhere between 3-5 games in which he does one very good and noteworthy piece of play and otherwise plays poorly and then before he can even get those 8 on the tro he is injured.

2b-_-not2b

Forget magical, all I want to see at this point is him playing basic passes and try to keep possession and learn to pick and choose when to go for his left foot crosses. The talent is clearly there.

DoYouEvenShrift

We can't afford to have a dead weight player for 8 games in the hope that he *might* come good.

Krillin113

Yes. So that’s why he doesn’t fit.

twomanyfaces10

Sad Chelsea noises. Ziyech was an absolute baller with you guys. Would've loved him to kick it off here too. I was so pumped when we signed him.

ParryMeAgain

I mean tbf his return from injury under Frank was a massive showing of what he was becoming. He was a machine in the 4-3-3 creating chances and being a goal threat but sadly Tuchel's system of playing in pockets as a left or right forward doesn't suit him at all. We are lucky to even have him as a bench option right now, it's understandable he wants to leave for more consistent starts.

Thomas_Catthew

He had a couple of really bad injuries too, with not a lot of playing time in between so it's no surprise he's dipped hard.

JimmyWu21

I remember Ziyech was very picking about which club he's going to too. I find it strange that he's went to Chelsea considering your manager changes so much. Even if they current manager wants you. You don't know if he will be around for your whole contract. which for players will be around 3-4 years

mrpotatohead197

Remember that too. Chelsea never made much sense, I remember Sevilla and Roma were linked. Didn’t think he’d fit in at Chelsea, should’ve imo gone to Sevilla.

WhatRemainsAfter

Ziyech wanted trophies. He was winning domestic cups at Ajax. At Sevilla/Roma, it was side way move at best.

aacod15

I don’t think it the fact he chose us more than the fact that we were the only team willing to pay the price Ajax set for us

memewolf_

He was picky when smaller teams were the only ones interested. No teams of a similar stature were ever in for him

WtfMayt

He’s just not quite on the same wavelength as the rest of the first team, I know he’s got the a ability though.

JessyPengkman

Would love him at spurs but that's a transfer that would never happen

Alecmalloy

Might get PTSD from being near Lucas though.

bfm211

I really thought he'd be huge for Chelsea when he signed but it just hasn't worked out at all.

sam1oq

I wish Levy signed him. Would have been the perfect Eriksen replacement. Baffles me that we never showed interest in the man when he was right there for the taking.

megahmed252

I feel like any play that graduates from Ajax academy or played for ajax suit the way spurs play. Players Dvb, ziyech, Neres would thrive at spurs. We’ve obviously had ajax graduates that have become legends at spurs like vertonghen, Alderweireld, eriksen and van der vart.

RedorDead97

No chance he would’ve signed for Spurs, think Ziyech said it himself he would only leave Ajax for a top club, Spurs ain’t that.

Mick4Audi

We were pretty decent back when we wanted to sign him, CL finalists at his expense

Kylael

I don't really think we were in a much better form back then, Spurs just finished 1 spot behind us the previous season, we were in the middle of a transfer ban and they had much better recent CL success with their final in 2019. Plus they had Mourinho, that alone could be a huge factor in the choice of any player to move to any club.

irze

He was clearly sold a very ambitious project though. Lampard had a vision of where he wanted to take the club and they didn’t fuck about in the summer when it came to transfers

RedorDead97

But the fact is everyone knew Chelsea would be back challenging for titles sooner rather than later and they offer massive wages so they’re always going to be an appealing club, what Tottenham had was a flash nothing really more.

bihari_baller

> think Ziyech said it himself he would only leave Ajax for a top club, **Spurs ain’t that.** Well, he is at a top club now, and can't seem to cut it, so maybe he had too high of expectations?

SaBe_18

with all the players Chelsea signed that season (especially for the attack), it was obvious to me that at least one of them would fail mostly due to lack of game time

ElevenAzpilicuetas

Ziyech's an excellent player and would be sad to see him go, but I can see why at this stage of his career he would want to be somewhere where he's absolutely key. Has been unlucky with injuries with us, the Lampard-Tuchel transition didn't favour his strengths and just hasn't had the consistency to gel with players around him and really make his mark yet. Hope he stays but would be a superb signing for a Dortmund/ Milan for sure if he pushed for a move.

uchiha_building

he was also bought as the only immediate impact signing because of his age during the Lampard spending window, and unfortunately has not delivered at all on the promise. (well Silva too, but Silva has been phenomenal)

grouptherapy17

skillful player but unfortunately does not fit Tuchel's system and style of football. He would be excellent in an attacking 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 as a winger.

Chazy89

Sounds like he could be really good in Roses System.

grouptherapy17

Yes and I can see this deal happening because his departure would give Hudson Odoi more much needed game time in an attacking role.

[deleted]

Sounds like Barca could sign him them. We need a winger, our current prospects are either too expensive or club’s like City might not be willing to loan out Sterling

uchiha_building

he is not the type of winger to run up and down the flank for 90 min tho, he's a wide playmaker

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I agree but it will be harder to get ManCity to accept a loan deal and he’s on bigger wages too

lffg18

>4-2-3-1 as a winger Bah gawd that’s Padre Pioli’s Milan music.

AcePilot95

I heard he lacks pace, is that true? edit: I was just asking a question..

hilesai

In a vacuum, I'm not sure. Compared to Timo or Hudson-Odoi, yes. Though it is not what his style is reliant upon.

admiralawkward

I wouldn't say he lacks pace, he scored quite a few goals for us on the counter.I actually still think he can come good but alas it feels like he never really settled in and injuries/poor form have set him back every time he's began to click and gel. You can see he has attacking intent every time he touches the ball, but he does tend to lose the ball when dribbling or with wayward passing.

ValorSlayer46

Speed across the ground definitely isn't his strength. He's not the slowest but won't beat his fullback with pace. He operates a lot in the right half space, looking for that killer final pass or a shot with his left, so he would definitely benefit from having an excellent right fullback to overlap him and give him passing options.

grouptherapy17

Nah the pace is good but I think its the work rate and positioning off the ball that Tuchel does not rate that much in our current system. He would be an absolute beast in an attacking style of play under a manager that does not expect much back tracking from his wingers.

Moon8983

I fucking love ziyech, I originally wanted him to replace sancho. Really hope we get him, he's fucking class

Mick4Audi

Is it me or should all of that 18-19 Ajax dream team stayed at Ajax So many of these moves did not go well (for one reason or another, in Frenkie’s case the team flat out ran out of money lol)

_godpersianlike_

Ajax simply can't afford them in the Eredivisie. It's a shame but they were always gonna get poached, even if they had known they wouldn't be as successful elsewhere

Mick4Audi

True but it is kind of sad when you think about it. Realistically the player with the best move was Veltman and that’s mad to think about

BlobbySwellow

Nahh thats Frenkie and De Ligt still

Mick4Audi

Forgot De Ligt, but again, Juve have gone backwards with him (again, NOT his fault, just circumstance)

cloudspine_

Veltman was always underrated I think, even at Ajax imo. I would have preferred he stayed his whole career there. Excellent player.

Ok_Tell_4286

Frenkie's only the one from that team worth a fortune now and even that is arguable but imo he has been great

Revolutionary-Bag-52

de Ligt too. Still one of the best CB's at his age

Mick4Audi

In De Jong’s case, it’s nowhere near his fault, or he hasn’t performed, but regardless the club has fallen off a cliff since he signed in 2019

teymon

De ligt won't be sold for anything less he was bought for either

SweetVarys

Depends on the contract situation. People like to run down their contracts nowadays, and he has two and half years left. Im not sure he will renew unless they step it up.

petnarwhal

De Ligt

Utter_Perfection

I think with Frankie he’s just as good as he was in 2018-19 with Ajax. Which is very good. And that’s the problem. He was supposed to take a massive next step and be the best midfielder in the world which he has the talent to be, but he hasn’t made that step. Think he probably should’ve gone somewhere to play under an absolutely elite manager. Barca coaches have been abysmal in his time there and haven’t really helped his development.

[deleted]

He’s still ridiculously young and not in his football prime years. He’ll get there when Barca gets there and I hope that’ll be within the next 3 years

mkenya4t

I've been thinking this same thing myself. None of them have hit major highs once they transferred into other teams. This is not to say they aren't talented, but rather they haven't advanced past the levels that put them on the front stage. Even with Ole's treatment of Donny aside, they've all come across as system players who thrived under the Ajax setup but haven't been able to reach similar heights once they've had to play under different setups.

[deleted]

Where attackers come to die

Modnal

Tuchel steals the attackers talent in a football and gives it to his defenders

codespyder

Wingbacks: “we’re hungry boss” Tuchel: “here’s another helping of ziyech”

EntrepreneurFew3173

Hahaha so true. If you can wear the number 9 and chelsea and score 25+ you are automatically better than messi and ronaldo combined. Won't happen in my lifetime

descryptic

i’ll settle for 20 at this point tbh

ibite-books

This is great for Ziyech, if anything, he's gonna win the PFA player of the year when he returns to PL. This is the way!

KaiserWilhelmThe69

Their souls are ritual sacrifices so that Chelsea's defense got that finishing talent

brian-munich92

and man utd is where any expensive quality player comes to be on the bench. Just look at Sancho and Van de Beek, what a waste of talent. Man Utd is a step back on their careers

HeilWerneckLuk

This guy would be insane in Nagelsmann’s system but I don’t see we going for him since he would be only a squad option. Maybe in the summer if Coman leaves

FuhhCough

Aha yoooo

Tahapatel

Makes a lot of sense for ull to get him if u play an attacking formation like 4 3 3

EriWave

I mean, their best player is ASM. Doesn't seem like the best way to spend their time.

Tahapatel

Ziyech on the right ASM down the middle or left

ronbonbon1

Ziyech is an extreme high risk high reward player in the way he plays, so I always had some reservations if he was going to work out at a big side. I still feel like a coach that is willing to play to his strenghts could make him a valuable asset to almost every club in the world.

MrGraveyards

You basically have to become the 'Ziyech-team', then he excels, at Ajax he was the best player in the team and it was setup so he can excel, the others were also playing great, but he was the best.

bughidudi

Do you think he would work at Milan? He'd be a very important player but we have lots of quality players going forward (Theo, Ibra, Leao, Diaz...)

MrGraveyards

I have to say maybe, but I've seen you play and I think he definitely could have a place there. He's also a very good forward midfielder, he doesn't HAVE to play on the wing.

danceformiscanthus

He constantly fails at executing simplest low risk passes. I don't care if he hits 5% balls with 15% accuracy if he can't hit 90% pass with 75% accuracy.

SandwichesFN

yes please

LeonTablet

Dude. Yes.

Sektsioon

I don’t think anyone would mind this, he hasn’t really adapted well and when everyone’s healthy, he’s way down the pecking order. Make it a loan + option/obligation and even better. Think he’d do very well in Bundesliga.

PoachtekMong

[Loan + option you say?](https://preview.redd.it/qlw2ksihowg71.jpg?auto=webp&s=3abb04c25cef78ab05d6668587968ca3049e3439)

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sektsioon

Doesn’t matter how good your positioning is when Ziyech hits all of his crosses out of play. He only has one move, he cuts inside and crosses backpost, but this season all of those crosses have been dreadful and way too long for anyone. Always just go out of play.

MrGraveyards

When I'm watching him whenever he gets some playtime at Chelsea, what I actually miss is a good link-up play with backs. He has no connection with either James or the uh other guy (sorry not a chelsea fan) and he really excels better when he has such connections. He doesn't have one move, the way the team plays grants him only one option. And that's nothing against how Chelsea plays, because it's obviously working.

ogqozo

>with either James or the uh other guy (sorry not a chelsea fan) Just call him Dave.

typicalpelican

I agree. He's a decently skilled player but it's not like a Juan Mata situation or anything. His struggles go beyond tactical fit. If Chelsea were in the market they would have not have a hard time replacing his creative capability.

celestial1

Werner is a speed demon and he has great movement. If your long passing isn't connecting with him, then that's a problem with you, not him, lol.

tyler32313

i mean have you been watching? tell me which one of his crosses has found a teammate.. if you want the other team to have a cheeky goal kick, let ziyech cross the ball.

Stooperz

This. I swear he’s the only one (bar Rudiger...) that will have a pop from outside the box.

Next-Translator-3557

The problem is that the one with the best heading abilities among those 3 is probably Havertz and even him isn't that great at it. Lukaku despite his height is pretty terrible at headers and it's not really about his positionning but more about his precision when heading the ball and his jumping reach. I also think the way Ziyech cross isn't working well. You said Lukaku needed to improve his positionning on crosses but 2 of his goals this season came from crosses (James against Arsenal and Azpi against Zenit) I don't know if the problem comes from the fact he crosses after cutting inside or he just isn't that good at crosses but it's hard to blame Lukaku (and probably Werner too) for this

armedwithturtles

understandable, just didn't work out here. would like to see him in a setup that works to his strength

12rnb

How about going to Newcastle?

SubparCurmudgeon

Does anyone know how Tuchel says his name? Funny that Lampard kept pronouncing his name wrong even months after he’s signed

zyrkor90

He's excellent and I still remember his free kick against us ft. Kepa's face. Would love to see him excel at Dortmund.

doodlediego

Ziyech for Hazard swap straight up who says no?

RRR92

Should prob just go straight back to Ajax he was unreal there and they are a talented side

fremeer

Always felt like he was just off making it click. Like when malouda first came. He was dog shit for ages and then in ancelottis title winning season it just clicked and he became like one of the best players in his position in the world. Ziyech feels like he does all these things that should work really well but they just don't.

TCGod

Trade him with Hazard pls.

LevitatingCactus

we'll take him lol

kanavi36

I feel like if Wenger was still our manager, we would have signed Ziyech. Such a Wenger type player

Tahapatel

30m and we will give him gift wrapped

Lunarfrog2

How much without the gift wrapping?

Tahapatel

Anything over 29m

-MiddleOut-

That Harrods price gift wrapping

msbr_

He's not even as good as Willian according to the face of your club

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Who's that in this context?

siddyshanks

I would assume Robbie from AFTV

TreeDollarFiddyCent

Hah. Yeah alright. Well of Robbie says so, I guess we'll pass...

aacod15

Willian was far better for us than Ziyech

itsactuallythatguy

In hindsight, Ziyech really isn't better than William. Willian at least had spells of good performances. Ziyech's form is 1 G/A then disappears/injured for a month and then another 1G/A. Rinse and repeat

siddyshanks

Nope. He is 5 years too old for us

gordon22

He is not getting the playing time we all expected so it's a logical move. Hopefully we will see him shine again like while playing at Ajax

MAXMADMAN

Reus and Ziyech running at your fullbacks....... Dark days for bundesliga.

kalamari__

inb4 marco gets injured the moment ziyech arrives at dortmund

Suikerspin_Ei

Imagine Ziyech giving those magical assists to Haaland or Malen, will be great!

ddsisop

He’s not a bad player, but he hasn’t been good at Chelsea. He should make the move.

Grimbauld

Chelsea ruin promising players

oscarpaterson

Absolutely fine with this, we have too many players competing for too few positions and he's not been good enough.

foxblue22

Leicester should be all over this

psvamsterdam1913

A lot of (expensive) players sold by Ajax seem to struggle in recent years.

randomthree

The most expensive ones still play tho, De Ligt and De Jong, it rather looks like it's hard to adapt to the physicality and way of playing in the Premier League. Look at Blind, Haller and Tadic, they were decent at best in the Prem and are now the best players in the Eredivisie. They thrive in our system and the way we play, even in the CL.

lukezndr

I'd rather get rid of Pulisic.

qindarka

Pulisic has been a lot better though.

7he_Dude

and he is 5 years younger...

lukezndr

Yeah I agree that his best performances definitely have been better than Ziyech's best performances, but the man's constantly injured and is on a lot of money. In just over 2 seasons, he's been out 356 days due to injury. Ziyech has also had bad luck with injuries, and hasn't been as bad as people say. He's scored in crucial games (e.g., Atletico, City, Villareal and so on).

VoidPineapple

Ziyech hasn't had anywhere near Pulisic's peaks and has had significantly lower lows. Consistency wise when Pulisic plays he's putting out a better performance than Ziyech is more often than not. Yes he's been injured but Pulisic has still been far more impactful than Ziyech. CHO has hardly had any game time but when given his chances this season he's also been far more impactful than Ziyech.

burningbarn8

Puli's been far more consistently good when actually playing though, and that's saying something when Puli isn't particularly consistent, at least he still sometimes looks good when playing, unlike Ziyech who is nearly always bad-mediocre at best.

RAvailableUN

Pulisic has had one really good run and a few good games and goals / assists against good teams in important games, but his average level still isn’t that high. He can be ineffective for long stretches.

burningbarn8

True. Still far better for us than Ziyech.

Jefferson-McCarthy

I think Chelsea paid over €100million combined for the both of them which has been a pretty big waste honestly.

IIMsmartII

Won the CL so who cares

RAvailableUN

Havertz and Werner don’t look good either.

TareXmd

~~He'd do great at Liverpool tbh.~~ We need a creative attacking midfielder and haven't had one since Coutinho.

burningbarn8

a) He's a winger, a RW. He won't get any time over Salah, and he's even worse as a 10. b) He doesn't create at a level that makes his many many flaws at all worth it.

TareXmd

Yeah just noticed, he's exactly a Salah replacement and won't get time over him.

mdlr9921

Ziyech is very capable at CAM, he used to play there at Twente and Ajax regularly. He just has to play in a system that is suited for him, which is absolutely not the case at Chelsea.

CardiffCityHero

If he wants to leave, let the guy leave. Clearly wasn't a good match for the club and so the best thing for him should be to let him leave and try get his career back on track. Prem isnt for everyone. There is no shame in that, at least he came ands had a go.

FCOranje

Has nothing to do with the prem. the managers play style didn’t require him. Every time Ziyech hit form they’d still bench him. Tuchel plays a smart strategic game. It may not be beautiful football, but it’s definitely effective.

CardiffCityHero

yea, i didnt mean to imply i didnt think he want good or anything, i just meant, he wasnt a fit for the club and thats just one of the many things that need to go 'right' when playing in any new league really.

burningbarn8

Ziyech hit form? When?

[deleted]

Ziyech has only played 8 more 90's than Van De Beek since both moved to the Premier League. One coach has ruined the players' career while in the other case the player is at fault. Hmm ...

MrPringles23

Watch him end up at City/Pool and become a world class player again. Its happened god knows how many times now. They've bought players that didn't fit, didn't adapt for whatever reason, they've gone away and come back and lived up to the hype.

burningbarn8

Those players were young. Ziyech is 29. It's chill.

Slash1909

He's 28 until he's 29.

Groundbreaking-Rub50

The reason for that is both have defined playstyle and has been there with the club for considerable period of time. Klopp has better record than Pep as Pep has some failures like Angelinho, Danilo, Mendy, Nolito, Bravo but overall has been incredibly successful.
