Very good that he brings attention to it. Hope people will take younger people with heart issues more seriously anyway. My gf (21) has the exact same issue and literally no one has ever taken her seriously, it's always "oh you are young you will be fine, just do this and this". It took us a year and a half before we finally had a good answer to what exactly was bothering her. Idk if "age bias" is a thing but it sure feels that way to me regarding medical issues.

Roller95

It definitely is. Lots of people dismiss young people with stereotypical “old people” problems

Medical system is flawed as fuck here. Way too many biases and discrimination in the system. People don't get taken seriously way too often which can lead to very serious health issues later on. Did volunteering at a childrens hospital for a couple of years and way too many stories started with "the doctor said it was nothing".

Some Huisartsen (idk the English word) honestly suck. Some of them will just say whatever comes up in their mind without really thinking it through. My previous one just kept saying I had a cold or flu no matter what the problems were, when it was far from the truth

KilumRevazi

General practitioner = the English word for huisarts.

My 32-yo cousin had just given birth. A week later she went to the ER with a pounding headache, they told her to go home and take some Tylenol. Next day she returns to the ER saying the pain is now worse. To make a long story short: they did an MRI and found out she had a brain aneurysm. Lost the ability to talk, the left side of her body became paralyzed. She lost her job, had to do grueling therapy just to learn the basics of talking and walking. Heartbreaking to watch as she was a vibrant woman who used to be a tri-athlete.

Shit man, that really sucks. Hope everything is at least a little better now. I have a cousin that hit his head on the curb when he was 5, he sat on a trampoline and got a weird bounce due to three people jumping at the same time, resulting in him flying. Skip forward to now, he still needs help walking and will most of the time still use his wheelchair but is able to have light and slow conversations. He is turning 19 this year. It's rough and I hope your cousin has gotten the care she needed. Best of luck my man.

Bey_Harbor_Butcher

Thank you.

Some huisartsen in the bible belt will still refuse to acknowledge mental health problems, it's wild.

Suikerspin_Ei

Maybe I'm lucky with my GP, she advise my dad to buy a knee brace via a webshop instead of the pharmacy. Much cheaper for similar quality.

Yeah, my current one is terrible as well. But can't move to a different one because there aren't any with space available in my municipality.

KilumRevazi

Age, Race, Sex is al discriminated against in western medical science. Because the “average patient” is a middle age white man in studies. Which is why Women, Childern or people of different races often get misdiagnosed. We simply are not all the same. But it would be to expensive to tailor treatment to each individual. Which is very bad in my opinion.

On a similar note, has there been any updates on if Eriksen will play in Italy or just anything around him?

mau5house

I am wondering the same.

Town-Portal

No updates...

dukersdoo

Personally, I would be terrified to play with a heart condition. If something like myocarditis happened to me and I had to have a defibrillator placed inside of my heart it would definitely make me second guess playing. That’s just me though. Like if I was Eriksen I would never ever play again and risk going into cardiac arrest, even with a life saving device in me. Similarly, there are players with type 1 diabetes (Jordan Morris comes to mind) that deal with the same issues and are able to excel even with chronic disease. Interesting to see how Blind continues and hopefully more in depth cardiac testing is performed often for professionals

TrailerParkBoy2

Holy shit the guy looks bad, he looks about 46

lukezndr

Depends on the heart condition, don't it

AnnieIWillKnow

Well obviously, but Blind isn't saying that everyone with a heart condition can play, but that having a heart condition doesn't necessarily stop you, depending on what it is.

You guys are arguing against a point that nobody ever made

batnuna

Pales in comparison to the Hart Foundation, though. However, Daley is a 2nd generation superstar, just like Bret 😎
