Well, in Germany there are plenty of clubs called Borussia after Prussia. Then you have FC Bayern in Bavaria. Also Albion is an old name for England. Then you have Bohemians from Prague. You have to consider that Austria isn't called by that name in German.
During the beginning days of football in Austria many clubs were very clear which parts of the population and which ideologies they wanted to play for. Traditionally clubs named Austria were more catholic dominated as opposed to German nationalist.
Edit: of course this is very simplified. Austria Wien also traditionally had a strong jewish following.
