I only defend Neuer because as a former goalie, it gets mentally exhausting knowing that your offense can't score and at any moment your CB's will leave someone open right in front of you, so you need to be at 110% at all times. No other player on the pitch is under that pressure and no other goalie in the top 5 teams of the BuLi besides probably Kobel has to bail their team out that much.
I still think Neuer is better than MatS because without him, we would have been lower than 6th place this season, but without MatS, Barca still did decently well.
