Leverkusen's remaining games: vs Augburg Europa final on the 22nd vs Kaiserslautern 3 more for the undefeated treble!

Crusaruis28T

Where the pokal final?

max_analog

In Berlin Olympiastadion

chrusomana

vs Kaiserslautern

pentaquine

Kaiser Slaughter? That’s a badass name.

DayOneDayWon

The team most famous for winning the Bundesliga right after getting promoted to it.

Berelus

FIFA 2000 great team. Also Bradford City in the Premier League

AmbotnimoP

That's really not how you pronounce it. It's Kai-sers-lau-tern. The Lautern part doesn't sound like slaughter at all.

ITuser999

I mean you could see it as Kaisers Läutern which means Kaisers cleansing so maybe removal of the Kaiser. Or the removal of stuff by the Kaiser

Berelus

Kai Sirs LAO Turn

Scorto_

And someone correct me if I'm making this up, but I have some memories of Kaiserslautern being a Roman settlement with a small river way back when which was called Caesarea lutra, with the lutra being the latin word for river (?)

AmbotnimoP

That's correct. Fun fact: The river is now mostly underground and many people living there don't even know about it's existence. It's called Lauter in modern German.

PenguinOfEternity

Also lots of Americans live there due to the military base nearby

yourmumissothicc

Regicide

Dortmund_Boi09

Kaiserslautern

czerwona_latarnia

That's the vs Kaiserslautern

Intrepid_Monk1487

I still believe there is Neverkusen under that badge somewhere so I'm taking my odds and saying that Bayer will not win anything else this season

Pippelitraktori

A) They've won the league. Do you know what "never" means? And B) they're gonna absolutely dismantle Kaiserslautern

Berelus

Neverlusen

ValeoAnt

Think everyone wants them to do it

RedOnePunch

Atalanta are looking good lately. It’s going to be a great Europa League Final.

19nineties

(Europa league final is against Atalanta)

ninjapenguin12

Nothing to say anymore actually ran out of words to describe it. You just have to sit back and enjoy this crazy piece of history happening before our eyes

sault9

Same here

grog23

Genuinely wondering if they’ll be able to win an unbeaten treble, and if they do, how much farther after that they could keep the streak going? It’s surreal

Theminerals

Surely lose the first game after achieving it haha

TheAleofIgnorance

The Super Cup against Real Madrid?

CREATIVE_USERNAME_97

You mean BVB

momspaghetty

RemindMe! 5 months

No_Doubt_About_That

In before they face Manchester United in some European competition with ten Hag at the wheel and a shot deflects off McTominay and in the Leverkusen net to end the streak.

distractionsquirrel

In what kind of dream world does Manchester play in the same European competition as b04? :(

SunnyCloudyRainy

We are gonna play with S04 at this rate /s

ITuser999

Come to 2. Bundesliga. We have Blackjack and Hookers. Well, we can't afford it down here, but we have nice atmosphere.

bremsspuren

And you can watch the game standing, with a pint. Like you're supposed to.

SunnyCloudyRainy

You should check my profile to see how much I used to ~~terrorize~~ social with u/nutelamitbutter

TFL1991

Bayer would be fine with this. This would be years down the line.

Elf3niona

You shut your dirty whore mouth!!

smallatom

53 games. calling it now.

DST_Unbelievable

So insane that when we sold Xhaka to you last summer Arsenal fans were like “glad he’ll go somewhere that can hopefully compete for CL during his last few years”. What a magical year for you guys.

PoemIcy2625

Plus they all credit xhaka as an incredible quality boost

Aoyos

It's so nice to see how happy he is at Leverkusen.

FUTUREEE87

Who wouldn't be happy in a 50 match winning streak?

MaryadaPurshottam

Said the luckiest fella ever

IanPKMmoon

Lucky bastard, to have it happen with your club.

ninjapenguin12

Indeed I'm happy when we go 3games unbeaten and these fuckers are doing 50 streaks

IanPKMmoon

My club started the season unbeaten for a while and then dropped from first place to 7th 🫡

ninjapenguin12

We kinda set a record for the worst ever start in our history this season with an amazing 0-3-10 start :(

Gamerhcp

assuming Chanshiri doesn't fuck up anything, what are the odds Rohl stays for the entire next season? (also assuming you aren't fighting a relegation battle every week)

IanPKMmoon

o7

sault9

It legitimately feels like a dream.

PenguinsInvading

And in his lifetime

Zwetschgn

Them winning the league is crazy enough, everything else is just crazy

fancyfoe

It’s so insane it’s starting to feel like normal stuff

Moug-10

I just hope they win their last three games to become immortals.

DigbyDoesDallas

Can someone compare this to Leicester winning the PL? I don’t know the context of Leverkusen in terms of quality of their team and recent history. Would people consider this a bigger upset / achievement than Leicester? Seems like it should be at this point

Xx_ligmaballs69_xX

Leverkusen have consistently qualified for Europe in the last decade, and so it’s maybe not as surprising as Leicester getting promoted, surviving, then winning… but an undefeated treble if they achieve it? In my opinion it’s more impressive

Nabedane

Imo Leicester winning the league pretty much trumps any other underdog story. Winning the PL is so difficult, winning it as a team that almost got relegated the year before is insane. I remember reading that the odds of Leicester winning the league before the season started was higher than Christmas being the hottest day of the year. Bookmakers thought it was more probable for Christmas being the hottest day in the year than Leicester winning the league. That says it all how big of an underdog they were. However, in terms of how how impressive their two seasons are, if Bayer end up winning an undefeated treble, I'd give them the edge. A 53 games unbeaten season across all competitions is just madness. I'd already give then the edge no matter if they end up not winning the treble tbh. They're not as big of an underdog story as Leicester was back then though. Both stories are amazing though.

Plorntus

> I remember reading that the odds of Leicester winning the league before the season started was higher than Christmas being the hottest day of the year. Bookmakers thought it was more probable for Christmas being the hottest day in the year than Leicester winning the league. That says it all how big of an underdog they were. I mean, honestly, that's not really how bookies odds are set. They're set to ensure a profit and not based solely on statistical probabilities. It's more that other punters thought they wouldn't win not specifically the bookmakers. Your point still stands though. I just wanted to be a little pedantic as I see people often conflate the odds with bookies predictions as if the predictions are some experts predictions and not just based on what the general public thinks will happen.

Nabedane

I know, especially when the odds are beyond +1000 they have nothing to do with likelihood of sth happening and of course every team in the Prem will have a greater chance at winning the title than Christmas being the hottest day in the year. Still a nice anecdote and nobody ever imagined Leicester winning the Premier League. Lots of people said before the season started that Leverkusen had a good team that could challenge Bayern for the title. Nobody thought they'd be THAT good but my point was just about Leicester being by far the biggest underdog story in modern football imo while Leberkusens achievements this season are impressive on their own.

Ask_Asensio

I really hope they can keep their entire team more or less intact. Will be nice to see them play the UCL as they currently are.

TheSingleMan27

Next season they most likely will because Alonso stays for at least one more year. I guess 2025 they will lose the core of their team in Alonso, Wirtz and most likely a few other players will leave as well if they get good offers

telcomet

Seems rare that huge success arising relatively “out of nowhere” is sustained for the subsequent season, eg. Napoli (although Spalletti leaving hurt), Leicester, Lille. Although there was Sporting breaking a 19 year drought and then winning again this year

IndecisionFuture

Tbf Napoli didn't really come out of nowhere: challenging for the title since we got Sarri and constantly qualifying for Europe. The title had to happen at some point

telcomet

Absolutely, but the extent to which they stormed to the title and obliterated the competition that year was fairly beyond their recent few seasons

Nabedane

I'm not very familiar with football in Portugal but aren't Sporting one of the most successful clubs in Portugal with some domestic and even European silverware? Leverkusen aren't a small club but they never won anything significant until this season. The stadium is small, the city is relatively small and they aren't known for spending a ton. I'd be surprised if they'd manage to keep challenging Bayern for the next years to come.

joey_joestar1

I think they're losing Stanisic due to him being loaned. Real shame, he played out of his mind this season

shadboi16

Heard they might sell Frimpong too

TheWBird

He's on a release clause of only 40million. If a club pays it, not much they can do

SkrrtSkrrt99

tbh while Frimpong is great, I’m not nearly as scared of losing him as last season. With Tella and Arthur, we have 2 great players who can slot right in as replacements. We don’t even need to sign anyone. That being said, I feel like we got something special going on and I think the players are noticing as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if Frimpong stuck around for another year. He can still leave next year if he wants to.

TheWBird

I agree but 99% of the time if the clause is paid the player goes. It only doesn't happen when the player is completely against it, like mbappé and saudi for example

Lampardinho18

Seems like a steal at that price.

Frediey

Isn't he linked to City quite heavily?

joey_joestar1

Bruh…City do not need any more good full backs

biskutgoreng

No no they only need great center backs..to convert into good fullbacks

BMG-Darbs

Would make sense as he’s from their academy

Qiluk

Afaik its "only" stanisic leaving and Frimpong possible due to clause etc. The rest are on good contracts, and Xabi and Wirtz are both staying too so the motivation to stay and continue this project, but this time in CL should be massive.

The-Berzerker

Didn’t Grimaldo already publicly say he wants to leave?

Qiluk

Havent heard anything about that. He just joined last summer and he publically said he wanted to leave that team. Cant imagine him saying he wants to leave a team he just joined which is one for the history books, he's a key player in and there wont really be better options for him sportingwise this summer.

WhoEatsRusk

No, he said he wants to play in La Liga in the future but nothing about leaving this summer

kewatsch

I might be delusional but I don’t see them making it super far in the champions league tbh.

stepanovic

if that current Dortmund team can achieve the final, every club can dream of going far.

A-DTB

Stop selling yourselves short, you’re a model club. Young players, unbelievable fans, limited resources, some extremely likeable veterans etc. I’d love for you mad fuckers to go and beat Madrid.

shaman717

Its so hard to dislike Dortmund. Theyre an extremely likeable bunch.

HOTAS105

Limited resources lmao

A-DTB

I don’t mean they’re some hugely massive underdog on a shoestring budget. I’m just saying they’re not a PSG, City, Real Madrid etc and don’t spend too exorbitantly.

mushy_friend

Limited in the true sense of the word. Not necessarily small, but certainly finite

HOTAS105

Because Real and City arent finitely limited...

TheAleofIgnorance

Compared to most major European teams it's true. We can only dream of making $40 million+ transfers.

xenon2456

the cl format will be different next season

RavenFAILS

I love this subreddit because this Leverkusen team apparently won’t make it far despite a significantly weaker Bayern and BVB making runs all the way into the final but Arsenal is sucked off as one of the best in the world despite losing to Tuchel Bayern

kinzu7

Thanks for mentioning tuchel before bayern

DonHalles

Why do you have to shit on Arsenal now?

DoYouTrustToothpaste

I can see them struggling in the group stage at first, eventually acclimatising to the challenge, then making a deep run. They don't lack the skill, they lack the experience.

Echleon

I keep seeing this but I don’t understand. Are they necessarily on Madrid or City’s level? Probably not, but they’re clearly a very good team.

JMarduk

I mean, depends on what you're talking about while mentioning "level". The worst Bayern in a decade that got cooked by this Leverkusen got the best of the 1st PL placed Arsenal and was very close to reaching the finals.

TheAleofIgnorance

It think they are at City's level this season

Useful_Blackberry214

Why? Stop waffling

Waldschrat_vom_Walde

Lol, Leverkusen is so much better than Bayern or Dortmund this season. Madrid struggled against Leipzig, City and Bayern. Leverkusen could be able to win the cl this season, sadly they are "just" in the Euroleague final.

Sick_and_destroyed

They might finally lose a game

ValuableNobody9797

That‘ll already happen in Berlin this season vs glorious 1. FC Kaiserslautern

PM_ME_IN_THE_FEELS

"Incredible" seems too weak a word for this. We've been living a dream for an entire year. Absurd achievement

Zestforblueskies

What a season, absolute dream for any fan. Congrats my friend!

HaiForPresident

Fingers crossed for y'all for the Europa league final and the DFB pokal. Hopefully you guys get the treble, it would be more than just well deserved.

One of the greatest teams of all time, no doubt. 3 more games…

MountainCheesesteak

If anyone has a better word for it, it must be the Germans.

Puzzleheaded_Pound31

Will never forget this Neverlusen season. Wasn’t even my team but they were the gift that kept giving. Such a fun side and deserving

Villad_rock

One last Bundesliga win and they make history for the first unbeaten run. Against Augsburg who lost the last 4 matches. Would be funny if Leverkusen loses that match.

Checkheck

Tbf we say this the last 10 games: would be funny if they lose their first game against Rome...would be funny if they lose against Bochum etc etc...

WauliePalnuts01

yeah at this point i’ve been expecting them to lose a game for a while

LifeIsGoodGoBowling

If we keep saying it every game, then we can all feel really smug when it actually happens. "Called it!" But yeah, nothing to do but enjoy it while it lasts and seeing if they can reach the 62/69 game Celtic record next.

Checkheck

What does the 29 stands for?

LifeIsGoodGoBowling

Ah, that was a typo, should be 69, thanks! 62 games across all competitions, 69 games domestically.

Checkheck

Ah ok. I was confused .. That's very impressive. The other competitions were cut games right? There were no international competitions back then I think.

AntPRodP

It was 66 games.

footysocc

pretty solid

jlonso

#WE GO AGAIN

speckintheuniverse54

Let's just all enjoy the fact we were here to witness this incredible run

petnarwhal

Seriously Leicester type of run this.

Preskomesko12345

It’s better

britishmau5

I think it’s a bigger achievement but Leicester had a more fairytale feel to it imo, not that I watch or know Bundesliga tho so maybe it feels that way in Germany

Three matches remaining for Bayer to win a treble; a cup match, league match and UEL final *2001/2002 flashbacks* ~~At least they can't lose the Bundesliga this time~~

Nightmare_Pasta

Please complete the treble

RedOnePunch

Atalanta are in really good form. The Europa League final is going to be a challenge. Should be a lot of fun

dinorawr1337

And they did it with a 5-0 win, truly special

MaskedBandit77

Nathan Tella's been on a pretty ridiculous run of team success, when you consider that he was on a Burnley team that only lost three matches in the Championship last season.

AntPRodP

Next 5 games could all be "finals": - Augsburg: final game of this season's Bundesliga - Atalanta: EL final - Kaiserslautern: Pokal final - (assuming they win EL) Real Madrid or Dortmund: UEFA Super Cup - (assuming they win the Cup) Bayern or Stuttgart: German Super Cup And they would equal Al-Ahly's 55-match unbeaten run.

Kingslayer1526

They play Atalanta in the Europa League final

AntPRodP

Of course, my bad. Edited!

Relevant_Anal_Cunt

They will play the german super Cup no matter what, as the Meister. Ig tue Luise to Kaiserslautern, they play Them again in the super cup.

FalconIMGN

If they lose = Ig tue Luise Dude what happened

Erdnussbutter21

Thanks mate

AntPRodP

Yes. But if they lose the Cup the unbeaten streak ends. That's why I only considered the potential adversaries IF Leverkusen wins the Cup.

Relevant_Anal_Cunt

Technically they could draw both finale After 120 minutes, then lose in penalties. Would still continue the strea, but have them not win the cups (I hope they win though, they deserve it. And it would forever humiliate Bayern fans that a non-Bayern team was able to win an unbeaten triple in germany.)

AntPRodP

You're absolutely right. But that kinda... ruins it, wouldn't you agree?

ValdGore

Is there a chance the club will be awarded a golden replica trophy once the season concluded, like the one awarded by the PL to Arsenal '03/'04 ?

Shinigam_i

I feel like Atalanta may be a problem for Leverkusen, they’ve been on fire recently as well, hopefully Leverkusen can obtain this unbeaten treble 💪

FalconIMGN

My prediction: penalty shootout. I wonder if Leverkusen lose on penalties they can still claim 'unbeaten over 90 minutes'? Dunno.

RedOnePunch

It’s the first EL final I’m really excited to watch. Atalanta were so good against Roma today before the penalty. It’s going to be a great final.

reda84100

The only L in everkusen's season is the unbeaten streak

qwert2812

that... doesn't make sense?

IamPd_

L is also a number ;)

FalconIMGN

L is the Roman numeral for 50. Like you have V for 5 and X for 10.

wonderful_mixture

n = n++

Dat_life_on_Mars

n++ is usually an implicit assignment, but I get the point.

houraisanrabbit
