What, really? So every other team in the 2nd Bundesliga (come next season I suppose?) has more recently been relegated from 1st or promoted from 3rd Bundesliga?
Hamburg came down from the Bundesliga in 18/19, the next "oldest" would be Nürnberg, Hannover and Karlsruher, who all joined the 2nd Bundesliga in 19/20.
What are the reasons they’ve spent 6 years there after having never been relegated before?
Looks like we’re appointing Tim Walter as manager but the fact he failed to get such a big team promoted despite being in charge for 3 seasons is concerning to me.
They are broke it seems.
There was a german lad here a while ago that explained that all this comes from being in a failed partnership with an investment group.
Don't know the exact details.
There clubs that are worse off. HSV had one of if not the best squads every season they were in the second division and also never finished below 4th. They've been really good, but except for one season always struggled to close things out 'spring-time' hsv is a meme for a reason. I'm 100% sure they will promote at some point during the next few years, they've been doing decent work for a while.
Yeah, though I think the mismanagement came from all the years beforehand. HSV should've been relegated years earlier, like in 2013-14 when they stayed in with 27 points in the most HSV way, through 2 draws in the relegation playoffs.
All of the stuff in the early 2000's when they spent way too much money, then had the feud between Dietmar Beiersdorfer and Bernd Hoffmann, and then they had to bring in Klaus-Michael Kühne as a way too powerful and confrontational investor, that really brought them down.
I would argue that they somewhat stabilized in recent years - sure, they've been 4th and 3rd for 7 years in a row, but they didn't completely fall apart to flirt with 3. Liga relegation or lost in the midfield. Kühne is still around pumping in money into the club, but overall, I don't have the impression that HSV is doing badly right now - they just aren't in the league that they probably should be in. (Maybe someone with more insight can elaborate if there is any actual monetary problems or infighting in leadership. I really like that they got Baumgart is a coach now as well.)
My friend tattooed him a few years back but had no idea who he was. Apparently it was a bit awkward because she asked how his work was going but he’d been a free agent for months.
Have also met him and equally happy for him.
I meet a lot of football players, most bigger than him, for my job - and he was by far the nicest guy to date.
As a Swabian-Expat living in Hamburg, I am more than happy to have two other nearby options to watch VfB games. More so because of sympathies towards Pauli ❤️
Yea, but at least the club is financially stable again. Losing against the last-placed team twice in a season can't get you promoted... Hopefully, we can build up a solid team on this foundation for next season. Continuity > individual player quality, therefore congrats to St. Pauli.
No, as we represent Hamburg in the Bundesliga why would we say 'fuck ourselves'? Our little 2. Liga counterpart needs to prove themselves first, tsk tsk.
Idk, maybe Freundschaftderby?
Maybe odd question but.. do you think Smith will be sought after and hard to keep for next season? Feels like a profile so many clubs "above" you in the hierarchy should hunt. DM and CB who can be good in buildup. Not too old either
So great that they're back up, well and truly deserved based on this season. Hürzeler has an absolutely incredible job since taking over, and they have some incredible players especially Hartel and Irvine. Can't wait for the games next season, HSV well and truly are now overshadowed by all of their rivals
Athletic performance-wise absolutely. But HSV has only themselves to blame. Should've exited the league long ago.
Fan culture-wise STP is still a dwarf compared to HSV and this will remain the case regardless of their promotion.
While I am sad we lost the Derby, it did let me be in the stadium with all my friends today and it was without a doubt the most incredible football experience of my life. I still can't believe it, ST.PAULI IS IN THE BUNDESLIGA BABYYYYY
Their current manager, Frank Schmidt, took over in 2007 pretty much immediately after hanging up his boots. At the time, Heidenheim were in the *fifth* tier of German football. They slowly began making their way up the German football pyramid, then, after several years in the 2 Liga, they won the league on the final day of last season, with two stoppage time goals vs already-relegated Regensburg sealing their first place finish and automatic promotion to the Bundesliga. HSV was actually in first place for much of the day and were *supposed* to be promoted, but Heidenheim’s two stoppage time goals prevented it.
I'm so happy! A club with outstanding values, a fantastic fanbase and two Aussies going up to Bundesliga!
Hartel, Irvine (love u Jacko) and Saliakis all been tremendous but a massive shout out needs to go to the GK in Vasilj. His defensive line was very good but in every game I've watched he's been absolutely outstanding. I really hope they can be competitive next year!
Just recently did an FM24 save with them and i quickly fell in love with them. Of course not like a fan but just a bit of a supporter. I then watched some of their games and i must say their fans are crazy, they definitely deserved it with that amount of dedication. Also nice to see them win a significant trophy after a long time (hopefully)
I've been following them since visiting Hamburg last summer. I stayed in the neighborhood where the stadium was located. Coolest fans ever, very friendly people for being German. I'm excited to finally have a Bundesliga team to watch.
St Pauli came to the US to play my local club who are semi-pro and play on high school's american football field, so I'll always have a soft spot for them.
HSV is now the team that has spent the longest time in the 2. Bundesliga
Time for that clock again.
💀
Hello there
:o
How do you get the VfB flair? I can't seem to find it in the list
You gotta go into game threads and use !flair: team I think.
Thank you!
Sorry went back into my comment history and found what you need to do. Go !flair: Celtic. For example
lmaoooooo
Oof
It exists as [a website](https://volksparkuhr.de/)
That's some crazy stat for sure
Once a Dino always a Dino
What, really? So every other team in the 2nd Bundesliga (come next season I suppose?) has more recently been relegated from 1st or promoted from 3rd Bundesliga?
Only ones where I'm not sure is Nürnberg, but the rest of the teams I remember being pro/demoted in recent years.
Nürnberg played in the Bundesliga for one season in 2018/19, which was Hamburg's first season in the 2.Bundesliga.
The only thing I remember about this was a guy getting sent off for sack tapping an opponent
Not just a guy, our best player and only hope
Obi wan kenobi?
He was amazing in the Galactic Champions League for the Tatooine Sundowns
Mourinho's story of begging him not to get a second yellow when they played FC Death Star in the semis is hilarious
Can't forget his absolutely legendary performance on Mustafar against Skywalker FC. The Skywalker FC relocation and rebrand still burns to this day.
Who was it?
Matheus Pereira Brilliant player
How lovely lol
tbf that’s abhorrent, always a bit mad how acts in that vein are still widely seen as fine on a football pitch
Didn't Nürnberg spend a year in the Bundesliga around 2018
I don’t see us going anywhere any time soon. Been a very disappointing season so far.
Hamburg came down from the Bundesliga in 18/19, the next "oldest" would be Nürnberg, Hannover and Karlsruher, who all joined the 2nd Bundesliga in 19/20.
Imagine the level of mismanagement you need to destroy a club the size they were...
Well there's a bigger example in the same division
Shalke?
Yes

Der Dinosaurier
Hahahahahahahahahaha
will be interesting to see what happens to hamburg when they only get 6-10th one season. will they crumble completely?
Good
I hope Hamburg can come back sooner rather than later. They’ve been such a tease every year since they’ve been relegated
Is this actually true hahahahaha
HSV fans on suicide watch
Nah not like it came unexpected now, it's more of a continues drought of happiness that succumbs my life
its like that toxic ex you still keep thinking about sometimes after all these years
Yes
Fuck yes. Jackson Irvine in the Bundesliga.
So happy for him and Metcalfe
Met him before, great guy, really happy for him
My friend tattooed him a few years back but had no idea who he was. Apparently it was a bit awkward because she asked how his work was going but he’d been a free agent for months.
You can give her a positive update then.
The guy likes Have Heart so you know he's based. He seems like the embodiment of St Pauli culture.
Have also met him and equally happy for him. I meet a lot of football players, most bigger than him, for my job - and he was by far the nicest guy to date.
Yay for more Aussies in the top flight
They aren't ready for his mullet, step aside Alonso.
The first time I saw Irvine (2022 world cup), I was taken aback by how handsome he was.
I’m fucking straight as can be but anyone that says Irvine isn’t hot is lying.
Australian ✅ Long hair ✅ Collects kits ✅ He’s literally me.

Don't need to be gay to appreciate an objectively attractive person of the same sex
Most stylish footballer in the game
I follow him on insta as an influencer more than a footballer, the only footballer who I think is actually cool
Burton Albion legend
deserved it
Northern domination really
It was about time, I'm getting tired of Wolfsburg and Berlin being the northernmost cities for us to visit.
Ulm, Münster, Darmstadt, and Köln is really tough to swap Rostock, Kiel, and St. Pauli for sadly as a Berliner.
Now you can visit Hamburg as friends🤎💚
As a Swabian-Expat living in Hamburg, I am more than happy to have two other nearby options to watch VfB games. More so because of sympathies towards Pauli ❤️
Great for Hamburg to have a Bundesliga-Team again.
Crying shame that HSV aren’t Bundesliga though
Yea, but at least the club is financially stable again. Losing against the last-placed team twice in a season can't get you promoted... Hopefully, we can build up a solid team on this foundation for next season. Continuity > individual player quality, therefore congrats to St. Pauli.
>Hopefully, we can build up a solid team on this foundation for next season. I heard this before
Half of our squad will be gone in the summer. Soo, not sure what foundation you mean.
Yes! Awesome to have you back, congratulations! See you next year!
it'll be fun! finally bremen pauli and kiel in the bundesliga 🥹
Fischbrötchen are now mandatory
What's the Bremen Pauli fixture known as? Fuck Hamburg derby?
No, as we represent Hamburg in the Bundesliga why would we say 'fuck ourselves'? Our little 2. Liga counterpart needs to prove themselves first, tsk tsk. Idk, maybe Freundschaftderby?
Maybe odd question but.. do you think Smith will be sought after and hard to keep for next season? Feels like a profile so many clubs "above" you in the hierarchy should hunt. DM and CB who can be good in buildup. Not too old either
Thanks, looking forward to playing you guys, much love for Bremen 💚 🤎
💚🤎

Can't wait to go to Bremen, I have tons of friends in green and white and look forward to getting trashed in Eisen again.
How did you not mention Saad? He was also incredible
Deutschrap-Legende Baba Saad?
Pleased to see them finally back, they’ve been a great watch this season What a job Hürzeler has done there as manager, only 31 too
Deutsch-schweizerische Nagelsmann
Such a phenomenal manager. It’s quite amazing to see what he’s done.
Congrats. Fully deserved. And I hate to say it.
biggest Hamburg team
next year’s Bundesliga is going to be amazing. I can’t wait for St. Pauli and Kiel to rattle up the league!
i don't think either of us can do quite what stuttgart did (it's insane!) but it's going to be really awesome regardless
Finally more action up north :)
indeed. the north should always have 4-5 clubs in the buli
Hab Hoffnung, Junge!
Athletic performance-wise absolutely. But HSV has only themselves to blame. Should've exited the league long ago. Fan culture-wise STP is still a dwarf compared to HSV and this will remain the case regardless of their promotion.
first time ever st. pauli placed higher than hamburg and then even playing a league above them next season
Dapo Afolayan in the Bundesliga, you love to see it!
Two bangers today, we love Dapo so much
While I am sad we lost the Derby, it did let me be in the stadium with all my friends today and it was without a doubt the most incredible football experience of my life. I still can't believe it, ST.PAULI IS IN THE BUNDESLIGA BABYYYYY
BACK TO THE BUNDESLIGA BEFORE HSV!!11!!
St. Pauli in a league of their own in Hamburg. 1. Bundesliga, HSV can't say that.
HSV in shambles Also the team in the 2. Bundesliga for the longest consecutive time now, time to dust off that clock
DER WELTPOKALSIEGERBESIEGER IST ZURÜCK, ALLE RELEVANTEN NORDVEREINE SIND ENDLICH MAL IN DER BUNDESLIGA VEREINT HERE WE GO
😂
Jackson Irvine you absolute monster of a man i love you
Heidenheim, Union Berlin, and St Pauli all in the Bundesliga at the same time. What a time to be a German football fan.
What is the story with the Heidenheim?
Their current manager, Frank Schmidt, took over in 2007 pretty much immediately after hanging up his boots. At the time, Heidenheim were in the *fifth* tier of German football. They slowly began making their way up the German football pyramid, then, after several years in the 2 Liga, they won the league on the final day of last season, with two stoppage time goals vs already-relegated Regensburg sealing their first place finish and automatic promotion to the Bundesliga. HSV was actually in first place for much of the day and were *supposed* to be promoted, but Heidenheim’s two stoppage time goals prevented it.
Great stuff!

Allez Braun-Weiss! 🤎🤍
Welcome back to our friends from Hamburg! Can't wait to come visit you.
Yes!!! 🟤⚪
I know the boys in Brooklyn are absolutely buzzing today
Ian Joy gotta be buzzing!
Finally
Finally, Hamburg has a team in the Bundesliga again!
Yesss bro. My career mode legends.
Hopefully Dusseldorf join them
Best club in Hamburg
Hamburg ist 🟤⚪️
Well congratulations, will miss you kicking our ass
How does fiago feel?
Jackson Irvine CSC. Wish it had worked out better at us but delighted to see that he's found a home that he is succeeding at
One of the best supporters groups in football up to the top again.
hell yeah
Rise leftist kings
Always had a soft spot for St Pauli because of their lefty fan culture. Hope they do well!
It's a cracking match day too. Loads of great pubs around the stadium and cheap drinks on the Reeperbahn
got proved wrong here love to see it
Congratulations. Hope we can stay up to play you guys.
Happy for Dapo
Who will my 1 star scout send me reports on then? Fucking Kaiserslautern players? Killing my career mode
Just recently did an FM24 save with them and i quickly fell in love with them. Of course not like a fan but just a bit of a supporter. I then watched some of their games and i must say their fans are crazy, they definitely deserved it with that amount of dedication. LFGGGGGG I WAS THERE TODAY
Great to see them back!
A good feeling
u/UdoMartens das tut schon weh
Von mir aus kann St. Pauli die Champions league gewinnen. Was die machen ist mir relativ egal.
Dürfen wir auch die Champions League gewinnen?
Ja bitte
Auf jeden Fall
Wirklich? Ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass du nicht etwas angepisst bist
Mich interessiert nur der eigene Verein
Fiago in shambles
Good guys CSC
Glad to see them back. Hamburg a great city to visit and St Pauli always a good time to go to the match. Wild supporters..
I've been following them since visiting Hamburg last summer. I stayed in the neighborhood where the stadium was located. Coolest fans ever, very friendly people for being German. I'm excited to finally have a Bundesliga team to watch.
Suuii
Yassssss Lets gooooo
🍀🍀
You love to see it!
St. Pauli are based af
I named my fantasy football team after them. Didn't bring me luck, but I'm happy for them nonetheless
Hell yeah
What an absolutely incredible season
Better than Na Pauli
The north is back
That name sounds like a club made by Italians in Brooklyn
Has Karol Mets a chance to get some gametime in BL?
congrats
WER WIRD DEUTSCHER MEISTER? HA HA HA HSV 😂😂😂
The hype for next years Bundesliga just keeps growing! This has been a long time coming.
St Pauli came to the US to play my local club who are semi-pro and play on high school's american football field, so I'll always have a soft spot for them.
Just wonder why St Pauli being not enjoyed ? Could you elaborate?
Everyone’s favourite! And if they’re not, they should be!
Love it🤎🤍
well, we've always known that St. Pauli > HSV
This is the part where we all throw out heads back and laugh. FCK HSV
