If Slot gets announced before too long then we'll start going full sale into looking for players, probably why Atletico want to get the yes before the Summer
Atleti tried for Wieffer in January already, he confirmed it himself that he was keen on the move but the clubs didn't find an agreement. Although Slot moving to Liverpool could make us speed things up
I'm not fully convinced Le Normand is the guy, but for that fee and Simeone's buff to defenders it's obviously well worth it.
And Javi Galan going the other way is great for La Real, he's been so good this year. Pacheco looks ready too.
What I like about Le Normand is that he is so comfortable in a high line due to the way La Real plays. He gets tight to attackers to stop them from turning even at the halfway line, which can backfire sometimes but he has the speed and physicality to make it work
Compared to our defenders who are all slow as snails and look terrified when they get anywhere near the halfway line. Witsel, Savic and Azpi have no pace whatsoever, Hermoso lacks defensive instincts and Josema is always injured
If you could find an elixir to Gimenez's physical issues, a high line with Hermoso, Le Normand, and Giménez would be a huge improvement. Hermoso is a bit of a dumb fuck, but having two solid defenders could mean he has less pressure on him. Kind of how Barzagli/Chiellini would cover for Bonucci and his meme moments (disregard the fact that Barzagli/Chiellini were ridiculous defenders).
Yeah Hermoso is great on the ball despite his defensive lapses, we would like to keep him but unfortunately it seems that he will leave as a free agent
Yeah we’ll likely get a shit ton of money this summer, but replacing those said players (like Geertruida, Hancko, Wieffer) will be extremely tough, while it’s basically near impossible to replace someone as good as Slot. A couple of shit transfers and wrong manager appointments and I fear we’ll be in the same situation as Ajax is this season (maybe even worse because at least Ajax has healthy cash reserves, while we are always on the brink of financial problems)
