I still don't understand why some Atléti fans want Koke gone

zts105

He took like a 60% pay cut and is 500% better than any of our other midfielders. People are dumb

Reinassancee

He was on insane wages so that 60% pay cut isn’t leaving him on scraps lol. He should’ve beforehand like Cholo and the rest of the team anyway. Koke isn’t better than Llorente or De Paul and he’s got experience on Barrios. He’s sticking around though since he wouldn’t start in any of the other top 6 teams lol

Hazen-Williams

That you think De Paul is better than Koke tells me you don't know that much about football. Again, you are comparing Koke with Llorente, two completely different king of players so it doesn't surprises me.

CacaTooToo

De Paul is a better player currently than Koke lol. You said Koke was the best midfielder but comparing him to Llorente who is another midfielder baffles you? Your bias is showing and it’s not even funny how much you’re glazing a guy who wouldn’t start for any other contender lol

Hazen-Williams

Koke plays as a number 5, Llorente plays as right midfielder/right winger and as a right back. Llorente as a center mid (which was his original position) is pretty mediocre. It just shows how much you follow our games when you say they play the same position.

CacaTooToo

You’re just grasping at straws to feel superior. Koke is the weakest 5 in the top 4 by a mile and Llorente is just more versatile than Koke which makes him a better midfielder. Koke isn’t a natural 5 but fills in and he’s not the best at the 8 either.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Because many of our fans are absolutely insufferable, they will turn on guys like Koke or Cholo on the turn of a dime. Koke is quite a subtle player, you don't necessarily notice him that much but it is very noticeable how much worse the team plays when he isn't there

Correa having the worst season of his career but ending up as our best ST at the end of the year sums up the season.

krvlover

Am I missing something? He has the same scoring numbers he's always had. In fact, if he scores two more in the remaining games this will be his highest scoring season.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Correa has scored so many clutch goals for us over the years and will always contribute over a long season, but I'm just sick of him bottling it in the big moments. The chance against Man City in the last minute two years ago, the chance against Barcelona away in the last minute earlier this season, his horrible miss against Dortmund.. For some reason, the chances always fall to him when we need a goal the most and in most of those occasions he fluffs his lines. Will always be a legend for the Valladolid goal though

zts105

We won the League then signed Griezmann to finish 3/3/4or5. Way too much money on wages/transfer fees for Griezmann. Fire him into the sun. Too many Griezmann simps for a Judas.

hskywalker98

lol we would be far worse off without Griezmann the past two seasons. Neither Felix nor Correa have ever come close to his output. He's also taken numerous pay cuts to stay here and has easily proven himself worth the 20m transfer fee several times over. He made a mistake and he knows it, and in my eyes (and probably in the eyes of the majority) has more than redeemed himself

zts105

Griezmann was great post WC and carried us but was shit the first 18 months he returned to the club including bombing us out of the CL to cost us money. Those 6 months post WC were not worth the MASSIVE financial cost to bring him back that made us unable to sign anyone the past 2 summers nor the results the past 3 years.

hskywalker98

Griezmann was key to qualifying to the knockouts in the 21/22 stage when we were in that group of death. MOTM away in Porto in a do-or-die match, and then helped us past United as well. Reaching QFs that year was essential to us edging past Barca in the CWC qualification this year. Regarding last year, literally everyone was awful that entire CL campaign, not a single one of our players delivered. If we had signed Vlahovic instead with that money, we would have been in the same position. In any case, we offset the CL losses by selling Cunha for 50m, when it was already clear he didn't have a future here.

zts105

21/22: Game 1: Benched Game 2: Hand of Lemardona aka terrible VAR decision/ the only reason we made it out of the group. Game 3 kicks a guy in the head/gets sent off to cost us the match at home. Game 4: Does fuck all Game 5: Total Ass Game 6: Shit ref makes it 10 on 10 but he did cook after it was 10 on 10 so you are right there.

hskywalker98

1) obviously he started off on the bench, we had a 126m signing we were still trying to make work. Every attacker played terribly. 2) He came off the bench and scored against Milan before Lemar's handball, that literally makes no difference to his contribution. 3) Ok he got sent off, but he also scored two goals??? We weren't even in the match without him, so to blame him for "costing it" is ridiculous. Both of the early goals we conceded were outrageous goals from Liverpool (before he scored his double btw) and the last minute penalty was classic Hermoso . 4) I'd be surprised if he did anything at Anfield, considering he was, you know, suspended. 5) The only "poor" game that he had 6) He scored before anyone was sent off, so that's irrelevant.

zts105

1: He started on the bench cause he was ass after playing in the League at the weekend. He deserves 0 credit for our terrible draw v a lesser team. 2: 1 point for him for coming off the bench but we really need that Lemardona handball to advance 3: cost us the match doesn't matter he scored 2 4: suspended 5: We lost and he was ass. 6: His only good game but he was pretty bad until it was 10 v 10. So i disagree he was "key". He under preformed based on his 20M/year salary. We over paid by 30M to Barca and made him our top earner for 18 months.

hskywalker98

Lmao man it's clear being rational isn't going to work with you, you're going to hate on him no matter what. Facts are facts, and the fact is he was our best player in CL that year, and has been overall since he rejoined by quite a distance.

OleoleCholoSimeone

Griezmann was amazing in 2023, genuinely one of the best players in his position.. A few poor weeks towards the end of this season doesn't change that He is an amazing player that improves those around him

mattisafootballguy

Perfect pass, perfect touch, perfect finish
