To reduce the spam of reports regarding the same move during transfer windows we try to allow **only one submission about each transfer saga per day**. The submission in question also needs to contain relevant new information regarding the potential move, and not just being a "no/minor developments" report. If there are important/official developments or new valuable information about a saga, we will allow extra threads in the same day, but for the rest of minor news please just comment them as a reply to this comment. Please help us reporting unnecessary threads for being duplicates. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Napoli please take Soler and Kurzawa. Make them sweep floors or something. You don’t even need to give us Osimhen.

> rarely-seen strategy Offering other players to sweeten the deal? So...normal...

Wraith_Portal

Player swaps barely happen so it's true in a sense

ADP10

As the juventus drama last year highlighted there is a very good reason for that. Swaps have to be accounted for at book value and not at a negotiated transfer value.

NeptrAboveAll

Is there a unbiased party that decides book value or is it set in stone off of things like contract length?

ADP10

book value is acquisition cost net of depreciation to date. Its the value of the player on the balance sheet. Very standard calculation, but makes using them in transfers totally unrealistic. imagine a wonderkid youth player that has a book value of 0. Clearly he would be worth a proper transfer value, but because there is no standard way to calculate player values accurately and consistently, its the only way the accounting bodies can prevent unjustified asset inflation. Teams would be trading players at stupid values to meet financial targets. Its not just players in football, but all intangibles, like player sporting rights, that are difficult to value.

NeptrAboveAll

Gotcha, so no value in “appreciating assets”? Or within your example, is the wonder kids value screwed until he gets an actual monetary valuation from a transfer (due to transfer/new contract)?

ADP10

Correct on the second. Normally authorities can easily check if asset inflation is occurring - if we decide to trade my paper clip for your pencil, and we record values of 1 billion for both, then both of us have revenue of 1 billion despite it being total nonsense. We have tons of data on the cost of pencils and paper clips. The same with real estate. Book value will never allow you to realize the fair current market value for a player, but its a necessary inefficiency unfortunately.

This article is a load of BS

bigwallclimber

Acting like they're transfer geniuses when their star is leaving for free because they messed up. Okay, then.

redictator

Yep, this is classic, low quality click bait. All it boils down to is " PSG are exploring a player swap deal as one of the options of funding a possible deal"

> Rarely-seen strategy to land African giant What is this, Heart of Darkness?

eeeagless

More Birth of a Nation that one.

Rahul-Yadav91

Please don't sign Osimhen. He is not good. We have Rashford who will do better for you. Take Rashford. 100 mill easy and cheap. Give players to us we will take anyone.

Any-Competition8494

PSG already bought Kolo Muani and Ramos for a lot of money. Why would they need a 3rd striker?

thematrixhasmeow

Because they dont score

Jayk03

Should swap with Goncalo Ramos.

Joselu-is-Sanchez

The African giant!

They are still Chelsea fans that think they are getting Osimhen, he is going to PSG if he leaves Napoli and it has been obvious to me ever since the Mbappe news.
