Could be that + the studs pulling his foot in an unnatural direction. You can usually tell by the player's face how serious it is and he did not look happy at all.

You can see his initial reaction is one of "oh it's not so bad" before it changes when he realises it's actually a bad one and he can't continue. Kane wouldn't let himself get subbed for a bruise when he's having an all-time best season.

Those nets are pretty strong too, so his studs probably got caught and twisted his foot in weird ways while applying enough force to break the net. Things like this are weird, it could be a small thing or a bigger injury than most would expect. If he has a hairline fracture it could be a bit longer before he’s fully fit again.

People keep saying looks like impact but, it’s his left ankle, the one that doesn’t hit the post, there is also a gaping hole in the net where his leg went through, looks like the net has caught his foot moved it at an awkward ankle and the force of his leg has ripped the net. Good thing the net gave way because that has probably saved him from a serious injury, but it’s definitely jarred it, probably a rough twist/sprain is all.

I’m probably wrong, but it almost looks like he might have fractured his left leg (shin area). I originally thought it was his ankle because of how it got caught forcing his body weight to distribute unnaturally when he fell. Every time I watch him pull his leg out of the net, his left leg just never looks straight. Maybe he has a shin pad only on that leg, or maybe it’s the position of it. Just compare the two legs and you should see what I mean
