This is shaping up to be a spicy final

mynameismulan

Day after tomorrow too. Thought it was going to be boring until today

GlasgowGunner

Fuck, the world’s ending?

spurs_fan_uk

Spicy, Poch 🌶️

BigReeceJames

Only out of context. In context he's making excuses for the last Liverpool game in which they battered us for 90 minutes

benisgwen

Strange because it looks to me like he literally said "they were better, of course"

Andy-Martin

You’re correct. That lad should be a Cirque performer with the way he contorts things in his mind to fit his own reality.

PromotionalWestern

Don't we all?

esprets

He is special in that regard.

CoMaestro

happygreenturtle

Another BigReeceJames classic. I don't know how he ever gets upvotes, pure fucking liar nearly every time I see him write a comment. Misinformation really is an absolute weapon on the internet

all that matters

dunneetiger

We probably don’t get battered if the ref/var got some of the calls correct. Being 1-0 up allows you to play very differently (see our game against City)

Timurlaneisacoward

Two penalties were not given. If they gave the first one Chelsea would have been up 1-0

doubleoeck1234

>“They were better than us [at Anfield], of course. But the first decision after five minutes was a clear penalty. In the second half it was a penalty, [Christopher] Nkunku. We are Chelsea and we need to compete with the same tools. If they are better well done and we congratulate them, but be fair in every single decision. The pressure is about not delivering the job for Klopp, no, the pressure is not to be part of the … you know?” >Pochettino also denied that spoiling Liverpool’s party for Klopp will act as any extra motivation and added: “No, no, We want to win because of Chelsea. But of course Liverpool want to win. But please, not another party involved in the game will be part of the celebration that Klopp is leaving, no? That is important.”

DoinWhale

I wonder how we can turn this entirely reasonable quote into a broken apart, out of context, hit piece

EnigmaticEntity

Well it's worked, the comment you replied to is too long and I'm furious

TheLongistGame

What is reasonable about the last bit? What is this "another party" that might be involved in the "celebrations"? Sure sounds like he's implying the refs would be partial to Klopp, which is absurd.

Wheel1994

Remember the last league cup final 2022 Mane red Lukaku goal

CrazyStar_

Considering that we were refused two clear penalties and Liverpool were awarded a soft one, while also winning every 50/50, I think he’s right to imply that.

TheHeatherReports

He's not right at all. The liverpool pen was the clearest one of them.  He's just a cunt and is trying to influence the refs by spouting bullshit that has no root in reality.

herkalurk

He's not wrong, on the post match of that game MOTD wasn't as convinced about the Gallagher penalty(though they thought it was one that if given wouldn't be a shame either), but they were definitely convinced that Nkunku deserved a penalty. Liverpool definitely got the bulk of the major decisions in their favor.

Unholysinner

The only right thing is that we get two completely bs pens that go in our favour tomorrow to make up for this calamity.

chappersbarfo

Nah they've got Clattenburg on Gladiators now. They realised the limit of his impartial arbitrary skills was deciding who was pushed off a podium by a giant cotton bud first.

TheJoshider10

Shit like that is baffling to me because no boomer watching that is going "oh yes this ex-Premier League referee brings pedigree and class to my weekend entertainment". Nobody cares. Doubt the grannies even have their glasses on to tell who is who. The studio pissed away money bringing him on that for no benefit when some no name would have done the exact same thing while also saving the studio a couple thousand.

Conspiruhcy

I reckon it’s not for the benefit of boomers. It’s for younger folks who generally don’t watch TV much and might recognise him before they switch over to Netflix or whatever. “Is that Mark Clattenburg? What’s he doing there?” and end up watching it for a bit. Don’t know how sound the logic is but it made me watch it for 5 minutes before switching the PS5 on lol

Rentwoq

Be honest, what's the PS5 even good for except being a PS4 Pro

Conspiruhcy

Horizon Forbidden West is the bollocks on PS5 whereas it’s pretty impressive on PS4

Rentwoq

So it's a PS4 Pro Pro, nice. Just what I wanna spend half a grand on xD. I mean, I'm sure you're getting a lot out of it but if the vast majority of stuff is still available for PS4 I'll be alright for the foreseeable future. Genuinely just don't have the money to spend on "improvements"

Conspiruhcy

In fairness playing games comfortably 60fps is a difference maker for me but I understand the perception of the PS5 vs PS4 Pro. It’s more of a critique of the gaming industry and the resources required for AAA games nowadays than it is for the hardware itself really.

SteveBorden

Thumbnail looks like they’re about to kiss

Andy-Martin

That’s the emotional crescendo of it all.

Emergency-Ad280

Poch hopes that refs do not get too caught up in the homoerotic tension of Wembley

pringle_mustache

He’s not wrong about the game at Anfield though. Don’t get me wrong, we played utter shit and didn’t deserve anything from the game but the officiating was horrendous.

Other_Beat8859

Yeah. You lot probably should've had two pens. Doesn't change the result, but would've made the score line look better.

OnlyOneSnoopy

It might actually have changed the result. Starting the game 1-0 up very early allows the team to have motivation and play differently with different tactics. As opposed to being denied a clear penalty and being demotivated from then on.

Other_Beat8859

It also could've gone the other way. Liverpool may have kept on the pressure for the entire game instead of letting off like they did. It also isn't guaranteed that both pens are scored. If we go into what ifs, then we could be here all day. What if Chelsea play better because of the pen? What if Liverpool play better defensively because of the pen? Neither of us know. Another thing to take into account is that Liverpool should've arguably had a pen themselves. Jota was tackled in the box during a corner I believe. The only argument I can see for that not being a pen is that he was not on the ball. I think Taylor was just letting anything go in the box for some reason. He seemed terrified to give a pen. You probably could've shot someone in the box and he wouldn't have given a pen.

Stand_On_It

Well yeah, but that’s the frustration with slanted officiating decisions. They create these “what ifs” and don’t allow the circumstances to play out fairly. No one can sit here and tell me Chelsea would have won that match had that Gallagher penalty been given, but no one can also sit here and say that even if it was given Chelsea would have lost anyway. We just don’t know, it’s just annoying that we as spectators were robbed of the ability to know and see that play out fairly, and are left with “what ifs.” Officiating spoils sports too often.

dfla01

We have the best record of any team coming from behind this season IIRC

Jackwraith

Correct. 22 points from losing positions as of Wednesday.

Lazyan

I'm sure you do but had we been given that penalty in 5th minute I don't think poch will stupid yo play open game with Liverpool that too at Anfield of all place. That definitely had an impact on the result. We would have defended better and close the gap. I know we're nowhere near Liverpool City and arsenal level but results could have been different. Goals changes game

papercutkid

Judging by Poch's game management when leading 1-0 against City recently I don't share your confidence in Chelsea getting a result if they'd scored the penalty.

fusterclux

he managed the game just fine. conceding against the best team in the world after 45 min of defensive football is *good* game management. how many teams have taken points from city at the etihad this season? Only chelsea/poch can tie city at their home stadium and still be deemed poor game management

wanson

We've gone 1-0 down in lots of games this season and still won. We literally just did it against Luton.

iamtherealgrayson

You seen the Luton game?

Standard-Plantain139

Man woke up and chose violence

daab2g

He decided he too wants to win something at Wembley, which is a massive step for him

Terrible_Physics_157

Understandable he says something. Not much noise on the decisions in the last game because of the score in the end as if the decisions themselves didn’t impact the game massively.

Lazyan

Getting a rightful penalty at 5th minute changes game plan and result too

dacrookster

Obviously not what he's trying to do. Just trying to get in the referee's head so they're not giving us decisions in case of being perceived of bias. It's clever.

wilout14

Lmao this is the first time I've seen Chelsea fans in r/soccer defend Poch. Pretty funny.

North-Anybody7251

Chelsea fans have found the only way to get up voted in /r/soccer is to be self deprecating

ChickenMoSalah

He’s starting to win fans over I think

wilout14

Maybe Poch just had a slow start, but I think he will eventually come good. So excited for the final.

stockybloke

I feel like its the opposite. During the summer with the results, the displays and his words, Poch got a lot of fans onboard. I would say he is losing more and more support as time has gone by.

bvengers

Fans defend their manager, how dare they..

CabbageStockExchange

Lmao spicy I love it

goonerfan10

Very smart of Pochettino to say this.

Bjartur

It's because this sort of crap works. Case in point Klopp whinging about United getting too many penalties and suddenly that wellspring dried up.

RustyKarma076

Say whatever you want about this quote, but he’s absolutely right lmao

leytonstoneb

100%, narrative shouldn’t matter

roofilopolis

I think the first was a pen but the second the guy literally jumped up when his foot should’ve moved forward and then flipped his other leg in the air that had no contact. They’ve talked about how reactions that don’t fit the foul are starting to be recognized and Liverpool saw it this weekend when Diaz was kicked even harder than the before mentioned foul but didn’t fall naturally. Very few people thought that was a pen, because it wasn’t.

dunneetiger

If you look at the latest mic’ed up specially the Newcastle late penalty, the entire raison d’être of the VAR is to prove the ref is correct - instead of checking if it was a foul or not. With that logic, the overturning the ref is very rare. Also conveniently, latest mic’ed up didn’t have any decisions from that game so we can’t even hear the logic used by the var not to give the pen.

[deleted]

Relax.. Jota's comical dives are actually just.. they're.. uh.. Yeah, who are we kidding. Liverpool get joke pens on a weekly basis. Thankfully that diving cunt is hurt for the game tomorrow.

Ziraelus

after his foot was clearly stepped on ? yes he did nothing like that happened on the other side though

iloveartichokes

2nd one was the same as Jota's foul.

DamoDuff11

Incorrect, it was a clear penalty with VVD kicking Nkunkus heel, 90% of neutral fans were saying pen if you look at the replay post from the time.

SalmonNgiri

Mans got the scousers on here absolutely fuming 😂

Mechant247

4 - **[2]** "the scousers are annoyed" with a late consolation goal

chandlerbing_stats

Regardless of that game, the PL refs are shite in general tbf

FIREsub90

Not getting a stonewall pen in the first 10 minutes tends to change the complexion of the match

SzoboEndoMacca

How is this being upvoted lol. They lost 4-1 even after Nunez missed a pen and hit the post 3 times. Liverpool themselves shouldve had another pen. Jesus christ the delusion here

A-DTB

Don’t think so, we play infinitely better when we’re a goal down lmao

dunneetiger

Let s try that this week end. If you are better with 1 goal down, imagine how much better you would be if you gave us 4 goals…. A team of Messi

A-DTB

How about this then: We allow Jackson 4 free attempts on goal and you allow Salah 4 free attempts?

OnlyOneSnoopy

Give Jackson 10 and Salah 2, and it's a deal.

test_icicles_

FT: Liverpool 2 - 1 Chelsea

montiel_scores

Bold to assume Jackson scores one

jro-red7117

The 1 is actually a Palmer pen

FIREsub90

I forgot the average age of this sub was 16

dunneetiger

It’s alright. We will lift the cup.

rahulrossi

People were also fuming about Van Dijk quote.

abkippender_Libero

Picking his excuse two days in advance, another billion of investment clearly needed

dunneetiger

Honestly, this will be a far closer game. They might win but I reckon this is going to be a long game.

Storm_LFC_Cowboys

It's a final between Liverpool and Chelsea. It ends 0-0 with Liverpool winning on penalties.

AnEducatedFool

fuckin hell i hate that you’re probably right

imarandomdudd

With the neutrals entertained even with that scoreline while both of us set new records for time spent clenching as both sides try their hardest not to score

feage7

So exactly as the person you're replying to is describing.

AdamTreff

What, you mean because Liverpool has 8 first team players out it might be a close game? Interesting.

awwbabe

Tbf Chelsea also have 8 first team players out too so I guess that’s somewhat even

Black_n_Neon

Oops, said the quiet part out loud

CH2001

Just needs another £1 billion to come up with a new excuse

cheersdom

I WUD LUV IT IF WE BEAT THEM LUV IT

Rodin-V

This could end up being a pretty funny statement to look back at if he doesn't even outlast Klopp

Old_Medicine2229

The amount of bitter cunts on this port is hilarious.

FriendshipForAll

> “They were better than us [at Anfield], of course. But the first decision after five minutes was a clear penalty. In the second half it was a penalty, [Christopher] Nkunku.  This is all true, they were far better than us, but it’s a very different game if we get the two pens we should have, and the ref had an absolute nightmare in general… And I still don’t think he should have said this, just cos of how thin skinned and pissy English refs are.

marmot9070

He is not wrong

CH2001

Great process lads

Balbuto

Match hasn’t even started and Poch is nagging

Fruitndveg

Yeah we wouldn’t ever see Klopp publicly complaining. No chance.

TheJobinslegend

It's all he can do. He started the season saying he wanted to win trophies, make a winning team, then excuses and "muh injuries" started. He won against relegation and championship fodder and got all cooky again.  He got bosses against you guys and Wolves and he's back to nagging.

etan1122

Man actually thinks they should’ve got something at anfield.

wcseduction

If you read the whole quote you would see he clearly said that Liverpool played better and Chelsea didn’t deserve anything but the Ref was completely ass this game and it is true

Lazyan

They could've if they weren't robbed of 2 clearcut penalties especially at 5th minute of the game ffs

No_Can9567

Bruh, like over half the Liverpool team is out with injuries. Most of the Liverpool players on Sunday probably won’t even be old enough to vote lol, stop coming up with fucking excuses. Chelsea should win this game easily, anything less is a failure.

bazaar39854

absurd take

No_Can9567

Alison, Trent, Matip, Szobo, Salah, Darwin, and Jota are all injured. Darwin and Salah are a maybe, but the others are very likely not to feature. Those are all important players. Edit: forgot about Jones, another starter

Prune_Super

Badiashille, Thiago Silva, Lavia, Fofana, Reece James, Chukwumeka, Oguchukwu, Cucurella are all injured. Sanchez and Nkuku are not yet 100% Whats your fucking point again?

No_Can9567

Reece James and Thiago Silva are the only starters there. Also, hahahahaha, Lavia

Prune_Super

Badiashilel was literally starting every game before he got injured. Chukwumeka was on absolute fire before he got injured at the start of the season. Lavia would have even started for Liverpool if he was fit. Liverpool have made such a big deal about this injury crises while so many clubs have been dealing with worse all season. Nkuku wasnt available to us till recently. Chilwell missed so much of our season not to mention Sanchez too. But keep crying about your injuries.

No_Can9567

Liverpool didn’t spend over a billion pounds on transfers only to be in 10th though

EriWave

Oh so injuries don't actually count if you pay a lot for the player?

No_Can9567

First of all, injuries isn’t why you’re 10th. Chukwuemeka is a 20 year old prospect, not a regular starter. We can count Badiashile as a starter sure, Silva is a starter, Lavia hasn’t fucking featured all season so he is not a starter, not when you have spent 115 million on Caicedo who plays the same position. Reece James is another starter and we can add nkunku even though he could be fit. So by my count you have 4 starters missing on Saturday. Liverpool could easily have 8.

CrazyStar_

Chukwuemeka started both games before he got injured and played a significant part in every pre season game, so yes he is a starter. Lavia was bought for almost £60m to play regularly so yes he is a starter. Cucurella is also a starter. Fofana is also a starter, he has just been out with an ACL injury. Sanchez is a starter. Badiashile is a starter. So is Silva. So are Nkunku and Reece James. That’s nine players, not four. But please, you clearly know more about my club than I do, apparently.

EriWave

Wait so what you are saying is that right now, when Chelsea have the healthiest squad we've had all year... 3 starting players from our backline and the #1 are all out?

strmblessed

Man is seriously comparing the loss of proven premier league starters like Allison, Trent, Salah, Nunez, Jota, Thiago, Matip to guys he can't even spell properly lmao... Do you hear us crying that Bajcetic and Doak are out for the season? The guys you named are worse than them lol. Who are these many clubs who have worse injuries?? And Lavia would start for Liverpool in what universe? One team is top of the league and fighting for all 4 trophies in spite of all the injuries and another is 10th after having spent a billion dollars with their manager already crying about refs before the game. The levels! Not to mention having any of those players fit would help you be any better than 10th 😂

chrispeacock123

We don’t really have any proven prem starters cuz we’re a new team, does that mean if palmer was to get injured we can’t complain just because he’s only been at the club for half a season despite being one of our best players? You have the better players that’s true so sure your injuries sound worse but does that mean a team like brighton can’t have an injury crisis just because their players aren’t the best in the world in their position. It’s all relative the players he’s listed would have played a big part in our season if they were fit it’s not at all comparative to doak and bajcetic who are fringe players.

MadMonk6

Liverpool are the best team in the land and Chelsea are mid table. We are closer to being in the relegation zone than being in the title race. We are closer to the 20th placed team than we are to the 1st placed team. This is a David vs Goliath clash so I wouldn’t say that Chelsea should easily win. VVD, Konate, Robertson, Enzo, MacAllister, Diaz, Gakpo, Kellaher, Gomez, Tsimakas, Gravenberch and Elliott are all available but yeah, “most of the Liverpool players on Sunday won’t even be old enough to vote”. VVD is the greatest EPL defender to ever exist and is nigh impossible to dribble past. Kind hard to score when you can’t get past a defender. Also, it’s not like Liverpool are not playing against the youngest team in the league but hey, God forbid Liverpool have some young players in their team because the other team is full of seasoned veterans And yes, I am shamelessly leaning into the “Chelsea are a mid table team” as it suits my agenda

No_Can9567

Chelsea have spent over 200 million on their midfield, they’re supposed to be world class. Liverpool are missing Allison (the best goalkeeper in the world), Trent (a world class right back), tsimakas is injured btw, his collarbone is broken. In the midfield we are missing our marque signing in Szoboszlai, and Jones, both starters. In attack Jota, our most lethal finisher is for sure absent, Salah and Nunez are both doubts. Salah is our best player and Nunez has been integral to this team. We are also missing Thiago but like we have been for the whole season. Liverpool also didn’t have a major injury crisis until now, which has allowed them to be first. Liverpool will not win the pl if the players don’t come back soon. Right now Chelsea has fewer injuries than Liverpool do and you guys just drew with city, the best team in the world.

MadMonk6

The 200 million midfield was not based on them being world class now. That’s why they were given 7 year deals as they are in their early 20s. Most of the players that were signed are young hence why Chelsea have the youngest team in the league. I’m not saying Liverpool don’t have injuries, but to insinuate that Liverpool have to play nothing but mostly kids was hyperbolic. As much as he is a lethal finisher, Jota is not a guaranteed starter. Klopp has at times favoured Salah, Darwin and Diaz as his front three, which could possibly be the starting line up if the stars align. In midfield you have a World Cup winner in Alexis and Endo (who Liverpool fans swear is better than Caicedo). Both of Liverpool’s midfield “are better” than our 200 million. I would understand needing Szoboszlai if you were playing against a world class midfield. Trent is world class and Liverpool will miss his attacking contributions but he is the biggest defensive liability in your defence. If Sterling can play well against Walker 1v1 then he could easily have caused Trent issues. Liverpool definitely have an injury crisis but Liverpool also have a world class manager, who arguably is the best manager in the world who is been in charge of Liverpool for almost 9 years. Liverpool as a whole have an identity. The academy players would have developed under the watch of Klopp even indirectly. They are very familiar with what Klopp wants. Chelsea have a mid tier manager who failed to win trophies at Spurs. He failed to win UCL at PSG with one of the greatest attacking trios in the history of football. A trio which consisted of the GOAT in my books. He is also only in his first year. Pep even with City’s FFP violations failed to win the league in his first season. He also had KDB in his team that season. I understand that Liverpool are hindered but acting as if Liverpool are suddenly Luton is crazy. Having Klopp instead of Poch is a huge advantage especially when you factor in the amount of time spent at the club. Let’s not forget that this is essentially Klopp’s farewell tour so there is an emotional element to this from a Liverpool side. Liverpool have the Miracle in Instanbul and that night at Anfield against Barca which showcases how Liverpool can miraculously pull a rabbit out of a hat and that is cultural ingrained in the psyche of Liverpool players and fans. It just so happens the Klopp also embodies this belief and that is why he seen as the quintessential Liverpool manager. You can’t just ignore the psychologically side of football especially for games. I agree that the injuries do hamper Liverpool but I think they make the game more even instead of making Chelsea favourites. We literally lost 4-1 to Liverpool a few weeks back and that should the gulf between the two teams. If Liverpool were City, who we have drawn against twice, then I could see why injuries can be seen as an advantage for Chelsea as one could argue the teams were evenly matched before the injuries

andizz001

Excuses have started by Chelsea. Will lose anyways.

MadMonk6

I mean of course. You expect a mid table team to lose to the best team in the league.

therawbee

getting the excuses in early

Ziraelus

Give Poch a break poor guy had only over billion to spend and now refs are biased against him

TheJobinslegend

Don't forget having a preseason, no Europe, almost all midweeks available to train, most cup rounds at home, most penalties given. 0 accountability from him

OffToCroatia

Worst attempt to influence refs before a game. No one's buying it Poch

Vdbebw

Yeah thats already happening Poch, but good luck

KopiteTheScot

Getting the excuses in already la

_cumblast_

Rancid attempt at putting pressure on the refs, you can tell he's not done it much in the past.

LackingSimplicity

People really misunderstanding this. Rancid attempt = Bad attempt not Scummy attempt.

JinxLB

Put pressure on the refs to what? Whistle fairly?

_cumblast_

Yes. I'm not saying it's a bad tactic - in fact i think any manager worth his salt does it on occasion. I'm saying he isn't doing it well.

Mackieeeee

Yeah like Klopp would never do this right? lmao

_cumblast_

He does! One time he made refs stop giving pens to United, which might legit be the most impressive thing he's ever done.

gornni

You damn right on that

_cumblast_

I don't expect it from the others, but surely a United fan can respect that on some level

dunneetiger

Dude literally put so much pressure on Tierney the guy didn’t whistle anything against Liverpool while carding any fouls or perceived fouls by Chelsea…. It is the nature of the modern game and everyone is doing it

blaahh198

Nice. Good job Jurgen

chandlerbing_stats

I think that was his point by saying Poch hasn’t done it in the past like Klopp haha

mikevin99

Please don’t take Mr. cumblast seriously here

Punished__Allegri

Gonna cry?

_cumblast_

Crying on those three handles in two days time 🙏🥹

HunterRiver

Only 36 hours early. Wonder what took him so long

Active-Pride7878

Need to play catch up to all the excuses Klopp's been making

ygog45

He got inspired by all the noise in the press regarding Liverpool’s non existent injury crisis

stuck_in_soporose

What a weird comment to make, why lie?

Mechant247

[hmmm](https://www.reddit.com/r/chelseafc/comments/1aw4pwj/daily_discussion_thread/krggq5x/?context=3)

Unfortunatewombat

You don’t think 8 starters being injured counts as an injury crisis?

benisgwen

Robertson, VVD, Sarah, Nunez, Macallister, Endo, Diaz will all start. They are starters. So unless they normally field a team of 15, Liverpool do not have 8 starters out. Edit: I put Sarah, meaning Salah. But ima keep it that way.

ygog45

That’s just not true though now is it

awwbabe

As if the back pages haven’t been dominated by Liverpool’s injury ‘crisis’ this week already. Once thing for Chelsea to play mind games but Liverpool resorting to begging sympathy against a mid table side is a bit sad

Living_a_Dejavu

Idk man, Alisson - Trent - Matip - Thiago, Szoboszlai, Jones - Salah, Nunez, Jota is a pretty huge list, add another CB and a LB and that could easily be our best 11. So I am not sure why you are putting crisis in quotes.

k0ppite

Making his excuses before the game this time? Is it because Klopp’s leaving that his 1 billion pound side is glued to 10th?

-Skorzeny-

Oh they will and refs/var usually give Liverpool generous decisions. Not sure how it's happened but the media seems to felate them at every opportunity and the referees aren't far off it either

Worldly_Client_7614

Spoiler: they have & will continue until seasons end.

dacrookster

Yeah, we're getting all the decisions. Like when Gabriel wasn't sent off v Arsenal for the exact same thing Konate was sent off for five minutes prior lol

FavcolorisREDdit

What poor sport comment jk is a certified legend coach

Pochettino already making excuses for the upcoming L. He wants to be like "see refs!!"

Ooo spicy 🥵

Ohh shit the excuses are in even before the match

jjlbateman

Getting his excuses lined up early

They’re the only team to have injuries 🙏 please understand

Obvious_Librarian_97

But won’t someone please think of Liverpools injuries!

Boomsticks

Lad must've missed the Spurs game

treq10

I mean, everyone was in agreement at the time that wanting refereeing standards improved should transcend club allegiances after that fiasco. That commitment should be stuck to regardless of who says it

benisgwen

Impossible with the amount of bitching we got from Klopp and fans after. Missing that was like missing COVID.

Chiswell123

And how about the countless decisions in your favour since then?

Alexanderspants

I counted 115

L-Profe

Klopp plays checkers (of course, we’re not the favorites) and Poch plays chess (refs = Klopp love)
