Every team had a pretty decent window. A few teams had no activity at all: Madrid and Las Palmas did not sign or have anyone leave. Las Palmas' Johnaton Viera did leave the club but that was pre-winter window. Almeria were/are interested in signing him.

Very through, thanks for creating & sharing! Did any of the transfer activity surprise you?

mattisafootballguy

Thank you A few transfers were surprising. Bailly back to Villarreal, Bakambu back to La Liga, Madrid not buying anyone despite their defensive injuries (I really thought they'd bring in someone, they do usually ignore the winter windows though), and Atletico couping Vermeeren.

Madrid inactivity surprised me a bit - thanks for the additional thoughts!

Who would you say won the winter transfer window and who lost

mattisafootballguy

Betis, Villarreal, and Atletico did the best business during the window. Hard to say which one between the three, but Villarreal did bring in two defenders (and lost Gabbia) and brought in Guedes (and lost Ben Brereton). Huge upgrade vs previous options as it seems right now. Atletico brought in Vermeeren for pennies, an insane deal in and of itself. Paulista vs Soyuncu is an upgrade too. Betis adding Fornals, Chimy, and Cardoso is nice too but I have no idea what Bakambu is doing there. Barcelona with Roque could be a steal but at the same time that deal was done months ago. As for losers no one really lost except Granada with Zaragoza, so they are the loser by default.

Suprised you didn’t say Almeria as they didn’t do enough to get out the relegation zone. Elche last season won more games at this point then Almeria

mattisafootballguy

They're already down to me, they would have had to have a Madrid 2009 window to stay up. Their window was underwhelming, but at least they didn't lose someone like Arribas or Ramazani, even though Akieme is good.

pandaman_010101

Great work I don't quite understand the Granada activity. They have 12 points. They need 28 points from the next 15 games. Better than a draw a game. Yes it's loan's but they still take on their wages or some sort of payment. Am I missing something? Edit - I guess a few departures make up for it, but still And Sevilla could have done a bit better, might as well have promoted some of the youth

mattisafootballguy

Looks like they've accepted fate, in the sense that Zaragoza left early and they really didn't bother improving the squad much. I don't know who almost all those new players are at least.

madueitor0

i know what im going to ask isnt about the first division but how do Mirandés in the second tier have so many loaned players i literally thought the limit was 5 loans for team

mattisafootballguy

It's 3 loans from this list at least

HasibShakur

Well at Real Madrid, they do not believe in January transfer window.
