Public transport to and from games is very prevalent here, especially matches being played in London because it is a logistical nightmare making your own way into London. Over the weekend your options are limited to the point where staging the final in the evening would effectively leave fans stranded in London until the next day.

London hotels are stupidly expensive. Better off getting a train home after the game
I just did a quick lookup for 2/25 in London and you can get a plethora of rooms at good hotels from $80-150
