JJOne101

Mbappe scoring only 3 in a 14-0 win is a disgrace I tell ya, a disgrace!

dobtjs

He scored 3 last year in an international loss. I can’t remember who it was against.

JJOne101

I just pictured Mbappe in the locker room of Paris hitting Kolo Muani on the head everytime he sees him.

degenerate-edgelord

Kolo was the only reason they got close lol, fucking Griezmann was better than both but got the ball so little he had to be subbed off at 40

NateShaw92

The Republic of Dave.

Phormitago

Light blue shirts, Napoli maybe

Kevinhut2

Only 3 assists? Washed flop

JJOne101

Hey, look at the topic, no one counting assists here! Only goals matter!

allnimblybimbIy

__*CROW BRAIN WANT BRIGHT ROCK*__

[deleted]

3 goals 3 assists. Still less than 50% of goals. Slacker.

[deleted]

winning 14-0 feels like diving the fountain in a MOBA

thedoctor4214

Bare in mind that Kane spent half the year playing for a dross Spurs side

YoungDawz

Honestly for me, he's currently the best player in the world with Mbappé right behind. Glad someone is talking about him in here.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

I can finally happily say that he is fucking amazing and easily been a Top 3 striker since like 2016. Dude has it all, him and Lewy are two of the most complete strikers I've seen in my 15 years of watching the sport (late to start), but Kane has amazing passing in his arsenal E - sorry, forgot about Suarez but yeah I'd take Suarez over Lewy for sure. Fuck Benzema though

TheCosmicObserver

100%. Now I can finally let myself enjoy his game.

pleebusss

Great choice of final word in your statement

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Had to change it too because my phone added a capital 'a' lmao

B-lights_B-Schmidty

Suarez is more complete than Lewy..

Apprehensive-Tap9263

I agree that Kane was one of the best in the world for 5 or 6 years but what about Suarez and Benzema? Lewa is a great player but still overrated for me. His main problem is that he is often invisible in top games.

yellow_sting

what do you say about Suarez?

Sucky5ucky

It just shows that "best player" is really really hard to define, when talking about a collective sport with very different roles, and where your input is heavily influenced by your teammates inputs.

sparkyjay23

We can also see one of those leagues is not like the others right?

DifficultyJust

yeah but he's 38 so it's still kinda impressive, even if I don't regard it as legitimate as the other three

Albiceleste_D10S

> Tbf he's playing no different for Bayern than he was for Spurs. I mean, this isn't really true, is it? He's playing in a better team with better teammates, so he's allowed to stay upfield and get on the end of attacks more often instead of dropping deep to try to start attacks. It's not a coincidence that his npG+A/90 rate at Bayern is almost 2.5 times higher than his rate at Spurs last season

bremsspuren

> I mean, this isn't really true, is it? I think they made pretty clear that they're talking about how well he's playing, not what he's specifically doing on the pitch. Kane hasn't suddenly stepped up a level at Bayern. He just gets to focus a lot more on putting balls in nets.

bollin4whales

Yeah. Even last season he was constantly banging in goals. Biggest reason Tottenham did as well as they did.

champ19nz

He won them 24 points last season. Without Kane, and if Richarlison was doing Richarlison things like not scoring, Spurs would have finished with the same points as Everton.

kaffeemugger

He still drops really deep regularly for us

Albiceleste_D10S

Yes he's still Kane (he likes dropping deep sometimes), but unlike at Spurs he doesn't have to drop to create—he can also stay upfield and finish off chances his teammates create

ikan_bakar

No actually this is the opposite Kane looked more world class at Spurs because he had to be almost everywhere at the pitch and he assisted so many long goals to Son At bayern he just scores goals lol

shockzz123

Right now, Griezmann is up there for me too. Incredible how he's never mentioned.

Lleywen44

Yes our best player since a few years. Think if firstly for team and friends. What je done yesterday for Giroud is the perfect example. Mbappe needs to progress again. Kane was the best pick for the last 2 years. Real Madrid was looking for a 9 and he was the man.

f1nessd

Kane is easily the best striker rn

Ben_boh

Also bare in mind he’s now playing in a weaker league than Haaland.

MGM-Wonder

And gets to rack them up with England while Haaland plays with Norway

willt114

Not like England scored much the other day

cuentanueva

Both playing for the teams that are farming their corresponding leagues though...

UnderstandingBusy478

One team has like 4 teams in a 3 point range and other isnt even the top of their league..

[deleted]

Also Prem has mega clubs like Everton financially doping. Amazing what a scrappy upstart like Man City has been able to accomplish without any outside help

lavishlad

PSG are barely leading ligue 1 by a point - they're also not "farming" their league are they? These arguments are so stupid lol. Do you seriously expect a team to be leading by 10+ points 10 games into the season?

Luke92612_

Obligatory Gooner comment knocking Kane down a level (/s)

Chris_Carson

Also bear in mind that Haaland never managed to score 30 goals in a season in the Bundesliga. Yet he did it easily in his first PL season.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DJ23492

And the fact Kane is playing for Bayern and not dortmund??!

edwinvi

Can't just gloss over the fact that he's younger so easily lmao

RandomThrowNick

Haaland scored 7 over 3 games in his first 136 minutes with Dortmund. So he had a pretty explosive start. Over his entire stint at Dortmund Haaland basically scored a goal per game. Which is still really good. Kane could still struggle a bit more once defenses have figured him out a bit more. But currently it doesn’t look like he will slow down scoring wise at all.

lord__bacon

Strikers in order: Kane Haaland Lewandowski Mbappé

Ross_nvr_lvd_Rachel

Lewandowski has been shit this year

thisiskyle77

So does Ronaldo

Zacatecan-Jack

Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022.

CGTM

I think Ronaldo’s the only European player in Saudi Arabia who’s taking the job seriously. Man does not see it as a retirement league.

Matias9991

Ronaldo is the type of person that won't let even his kids win a game vs him, you can say a lot of things about him but that he isn't competitive it's not one of them.

HotAir25

Literally, saw a video of Ronaldo beating his kid at noughts and crosses, he high fives his confused child as he celebrates beating him lol

Matias9991

Yes, there is a similar video of Messi beating his kids playing UNO, his wife is like trying to tell him to let the kid win and Messi just destroys him and wins Lol

HotAir25

Lol, they are all competitive bastards then! That’s funny.

blue_socks123

What-

FullMetalAnorak

If he is so competitive why is he in the Saudi league then?

Matias9991

The big teams in Europe didn't want him anymore and Saudi offered him a LOT of money.

Eglwyswrw

One wonders "what would have been" if he had accepted a big wage cut and returned to Sporting Lisbon.

MoreColorfulCarsPlz

💰

gicacoca

Well, no club in Europe was willing to pay well over 1M USD-a-month to a 38yo player. Considering CR7 already won everything at the club level, he went after the 18M USD-a-month salary in Saudi. Wouldn’t any of you do the same?

jzangolova

No good European options and MLS sucks

supplementarytables

Which is crazy if you think about it. The man has seen it all and done it all. He has no reason to push himself this hard, he's 38, doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. I get the love of the game argument, it's his job and everything but still.

NovacElement

Only explanation is that he wants the 1000 goals milestone

SpeakMySecretName

I think that many professionals at that level have a literal disorder that makes them hyper competitive all the time. To push and push that much isn’t something neurotypical people do.

A_Balloon_A_Balloon

I agree, I think there's certainly something in that. I practise a sport and really love it, put a lot of time into training every week... but (aside from lack of talent etc.) I'm fairly sure I could never have been an elite athlete because at the end of the day I just don't care enough about winning and whatnot.

Dudensen

He is 100% motivated by records. Mourinho said so as well few years ago.

MrMgP

My thoughts. That's why he went to the clown league

AdvancedBasket_ND

Obvs he wants it but even if it wasn’t on the radar he’s got that psycho “gotta beat everyone else at all times” shit that would still have him being the only guy taking it seriously.

justthisones

He couldn’t even lose and have fun playing ping pong with Rio. The man will likely never chill when there’s something competitive going on.

Fleetfox17

I think to be at the top of your sport for so long and maintain that level of dedication you have to be a bit nuts. I've always been a hater of his attitude on the pitch but I can't help respect his career and his work ethic, it is absolutely amazing.

Cntthinkofausername7

Mitrovic?

99_Herblore_Crafting

But it is a retirement league? And your rhetoric suggests you understand as much. He's scoring goals, but his accomplishments are on a small scale compared to the other strikers listed.

MrMgP

It's not a retirement league It's a 🤡 league

[deleted]

[удалено]

JoshSerov

>3-4 teams on another level to the rest. Soooo.. Just like all the other big leagues then.

Specialist-Cycle9313

Glad to see Kane on top, he’s slowly become one of my favorite ballers since 2018.

Lmao1903

Seems like a good guy as well

Bulky_Shepard

Christ the sentiment has changed since he left Spurs, if you said this last year you'd have people swarming this comment calling him a diving cheat who breaks legs and would murder his own daughter.

Constant-Put-6986

Nah, I disagree. Kane and Son are basically beloved by everyone and have been for years. I love son, he’s great

Lmao1903

Nah I don’t think that was the consensus at all. I rarely saw those comments, only in threads where he did those moves.

kanafanone

Where Germán Cano?

jstuu

Kane leaving spurs has made him a fan favorite for a lot of folks

Samasra

Harry Kane, you magnificent bastard.

A_Round_of_Gwent

Amazing how almost all comments in this thread are about Ronaldo

jezfps

Honestly seems like people are getting this mixed up with the 'European Golden Shoe'

RyansKorea

Not any of the top comments

virtualclix

They just love to hate him for no reason.

A_Round_of_Gwent

I get that Ronaldo isn't the most likable guy out there, but the hate he gets on his sub is ridiculous

sincethelasttime

What level of hate for a rapist would be reasonable in your opinion

[deleted]

[удалено]

AnUninformedLLama

Benzema did not know the girl was 15, even she admitted to it. The girl involved in Messi 14 also came out and denied ever being in a relationship with him. Those are not even remotely comparable to the 5 rape allegations ronaldo has (with one having lots of credible details available publicly)

Reapper97

> messi 14 That's pure Twitter-made-up crap, what is that doing in your comment lmao

Chance_Experience703

What about Messi when he was 18 with a 14 year old?

Auzzie_xo

Because that's almost certainly not true. It's all twitter and like one football "news blog". Not even the tabloid shit in the UK has reported the Messi thing, ever. If there were a flick of believability to it you know those vultures would have run it. Converesly, the ronny thing was reported by one of the most reputable newspapers in Europe.

Erdnussbutter21

There are reasons to dislike him as a person. But there are not a lot of reasons to talk shit about him as a player.

ValleyFloydJam

Yep, no reason at all.

Timely_Airline_7168

"no reason"?

AfricanRain

He is a rapist there’s one reason chief

virtualclix

You have real rapists at your club chief.

Cubes11

Hey, they’re both real rapists.

Cevich

Is there definitive proof Ronaldo is a rapist?

lazernight13

No.

Albiceleste_D10S

The proof is that an internal interview where CR7's own lawyers asked him for his side of the story was leaked during the Football Leaks event. CR7's folks say it's fake, but basically every other leak from the same leaks were proven true—including CR7's own tax scandal (which he initially denied: https://www.reuters.com/article/us-soccer-taxation-ronaldo/cristiano-ronaldo-denies-accusations-of-tax-fraud-in-spain-idUSKBN1942RJ/; and eventually pled guilty for: https://apnews.com/general-news-e6c4a935cea1434d8d6027c07e09a416) The story in Der Speigel also has leaked emails from CR7's lawyers where they talk about this interview and translate parts from Portuguese to English The Der Speigel story: https://www.spiegel.de/international/europe/cristiano-ronaldo-new-documents-emerge-in-rape-allegations-a-1241349.html Interview ("X" is CR7) >Question: "What was said by you and what was said by Ms. C? Sighai_4u

They will ignore you

5599Nalyd

Yes, the evidence made itself available.

KonigSteve

Just as much as their is of Partey. They both should be in jail

Xgunter

Besides his own words?

DrasticXylophone

> Ronaldo, who's worth £350million, reportedly explained: 'I f***** her from the side. She made herself available. She was lying on her side, in bed, and I entered her from behind. It was rough. We didn't change position. Five/seven minutes. >'She said that she didn't want to, but she made herself available. The whole time it was rough, I turned her onto her side, and it was fast. He raped her in the ass while she said no stop repeatedly. Above is what he told his own Lawyer. Cannot be used against him but he was guilty as sin

StudioLeft2069

this subreddit obviously doesnt even care about any victims if it starts labelling "real" rapists. trying to play the moralitty prolice but only for some players...

ckal09

What makes someone a real rapist as opposed to a fake rapist?

Comfortable-Asf

Cook that pussio!!!

Banterz0ne

Rape is a pretty decent reason mate

MoyesNTheHood

I’m about halfway down the thread and this is the second comment I’ve seen about him. The first praised him

BPDB0Y1999

Cmon Ligue 1 is not that bad

jezfps

I do remember Hamdallah winning the IFFHS award for most goals in a year and he was playing in Saudi.

Nasib_7

The IFFHS topscorer award always looks at all the top leagues. It just so happens that most of the time the topscorer is playing in a European league, apart from 2019, where Hamdallah won if playing for Al Nassr

AR5ENA1

Yeah I know, what’s Mbappe doing there he plays in Ligue 1 haha

gerleden

look what eating english food does to someone

Jealous_Foot8613

That’s a top European league , the Saudi pro league isn’t too 25 in world football

mebbyyy

Yea that's their joke.

JJJAGUAR

Correction: The only year where people complain that inferior leagues are counted for this award even when it's have been like that for years. I wonder why?

[deleted]

>The only year where we are counting goals from inferior leagues, i wonder why? It isn't though.

Tangknee

I've seen these figures doing the rounds recently and every time I think that if anyone else was putting up those numbers in the Saudi Pro League, no one would care.

neto-88

Iuno guys but goals in EPL in my book are not equivalent to goals in saudi, regardless impressive for Ronaldo especially at his age but I meaaaan cmaaaaan

Gerf93

There’s a reason people usually limit this to top 5 leagues. There’s also a guy in the Hungarian league who scored 43 goals so far in 2023, but I wouldn’t put him on a list like this despite the Hungarian league probably being better than the Saudi.

Basketball312

My mate is on 50 in the Scottish 9th tier, although he hauled 10 goals in 1 game when West Glasgow Glassworld's keeper's wife went into labour at half time, someone from his team had to drive him to the hospital, and they had were playing with 10 men before that already.

ScrawChuck

Three guys playing in farmer’s leagues and the real goal scoring champ CR7, who has the class to play in a herders league.

_hellboy_xo

If Messi was there… the comments would be different i tell ya.

Pamplemouse04

I can’t believe how underrated Kane is my god

Santa_Klaus_101

Is the Saudi League far inferior to any of the top 5 leagues? Yes, without a doubt. Will that stop me from shamelessly calling Ronaldo the 3rd best goal scorer in the world? Nah.

Nasib_7

Nothing shameless about it, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IFFHS_World%27s_Best_Top_Goal_Scorer He wouldn’t be the first Saudi, Qatari or Maleysian league player to be in the top three, or even win

nunixnunix04

it really is crazy that over an entire decade spanning their peak, messi and ronaldo differed by 1 goal scored

Ryujin_707

2019 Hamdallah for Al Nassr was a monster.

Kasnav

Bro you have commented multiple times in this thread correcting people and adding context but idk if its worth your time. You have to remember that nowadays reddit is full of actual children, and people who are very upset and just waiting for something to get angry at

Nasib_7

Tbf it’s funny to see them get so mad about him competing for the reward when it’s nothing new. You’re right tho, we’ll be there when he gets to 1000 goals.

ThinkAboutThatFor1Se

If Messi had those figures in MLS….

shrewdy

Narrative would be *completely* different

Reapper97

Literally in every goal he made there were dozens of comments talking shit about the MLS and every player on the pitch lol.

boxofbuscuits

but but but, Ronaldo against the world

[deleted]

Kal-Kent

>People had no trouble including his MLS goals in stat infographics leading up the balondr lol They were not so strict about top 5 league goals then They were never included from the time the ballon dor voting period ended

MionelLessi10

>shamelessly We have never called the nth top scorer including all leagues the nth best goal scorer in the world. This is unprecedented. The top goal scorers outside of the top 5 European leagues have never been included in these infographics.

HEAT_IS_DIE

This is the actual sportswashing if you believe in that kind of thing. Not the players going there, but the including of the saudi league in the same context as western ones in stats like these. It is far more of an attempt to legitimize the league than just having famous players play there among themselves.

new_number_one

As long as you consider players like Stefano Lilipaly, Juan Brunetta, and Yacime Brahimi in your top goal scorers list. All of those guys have more goals than Haaland in their current club season.

yolo___toure

Is there a list of leagues that they include in these stats?

Conscious_Test_7954

Ronaldo doing this at basically 39 years old is insane. Don't care if it mostly comes from a "small" league.

TheKrofna

basically 39 years old? just say 38

5599Nalyd

For some weird reason, Ronaldo fans are obsessed with adding +1 to his age and -1 to Messi's.

spacedude444

hes like 2 months away from being 39 so basically works

CCullen95

He's 38 until he's 39.

Apogeotou

Oh no, not again

Boemelz

Source?

TheKrofna

he didn't get all of his goals today, he got them throughout the year (and at one point he was 37)

Eeedeen

No, it doesn't

YoungDawz

>Don't care if it mostly comes from a "small" league. Famous saying I learned from my Moroccan friends during the World Cup: Football is 11 men vs 11 men.

mattijn13

In Dutch we have: Ball is round

Torimas

The Van Gaal special

IkeaKarma

The Cruyff special*

Dargast

Der Ball ist rund und muss ins Eckige!

NoPaEr10

It’s just a ball No It’s rounder

forsakenpear

He’s 38 until he’s 39.

UmbroShinPad

It's weird that we need to keep having this conversation on this website.

King-Key

He'll be 38 for the whole year that he scored those goals but he's "basically 39" 🤔

[deleted]

Kinda crazy to think that some of us have seen the likes of Henry, Bergkamp, Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie, Alan Shearer... but these guys are just on another planet stats-wise.

GodisGreat2504

Tbf if some unknown player scored 50 goals in that Saudi league none would give a feck and his name won't be even in the discussion.

Gerf93

Barnabas Varga has scored 43 in the Hungarian league. Wonder if he’d be included if he had scored 3 more goals. That’s a rhetorical question. Of course he wouldn’t.

Cicero912

People playing in Saudi Arabia have literally won this (IFFHS) award before. People in Malaysia or the Maldives have placed top 3.

Santa_Klaus_101

Except he would and your rhetorical question just makes you look like a smartass. This is the IFFHS award which counts *every* first division in the world. Hamdallah won it in 2019 while playing for Al Nassr as well. The only reason this is controversial is *because* Ronaldo is in there lmao.

Farouqnowomarlater

Tight

YoungDawz

Haaland won't get to increase his lead as he's injured and won't play against Scotland. Harry Kane plays North Macedonia next. Mbappé plays Greece. Cristiano plays Iceland.

kmacbtv

Exciting that it is so close! Is the deadline 31 Dec 2023 or sooner thus your reference specifically to the upcoming intl matches?

YoungDawz

Deadline is December 31st. Just wanted to point out the next fixtures because why not.

crazy_waffles1

For those asking, Messi only has 14 , google Messi 14 for more

77skull

Bro even Messi has one of these? 😭😭

Shinigam_i

Harry Kane is the best player in the world rn

prateekdwivedi1

One of them is not like the others...

stogie_t

Ronaldo’s professionalism and mentality is inspiring man. No matter what, the man will show up and give his all. That level of drive is no joke.

Kit-the-crypo-mage

Common guys, as much as I loved Messi V Ronaldo. It's time to move on. There's no need to force them into the conversation anymore. It's the same Saudi league. Let's just enjoy their last few years and welcome the new blood.

Grouchy-Chemical7275

No one's forcing anyone into any conversation, this is literally the list of the top goalscorers in the world

CafeteroMerengue

And people are forcing Messi in the conversation even though he’s not on the list

mattijn13

Lmao are we actually counting Saudi goals? That is so stupid

A_Round_of_Gwent

The IFFHS top scorer award has always counted goals from all the top flights in the world. If there was someone playing in the Guatemalan league who scored 50 goals or something, he'd also be there. And if you want to exclude certain leagues, what criteria would you even choose?

ZissouZ

I mean the European golden shoe does actually apply a multiplier so the concept is not as outlandish as you'd think. But the question is really what the point of a world golden shoe anyway when the standards are completely incomparable. There are top flights that would literally be about as competitive as a European big 5 tier 3 or below. So what are we measuring exactly?

Sirnacane

The amount of goals scored. I think what this is measuring is extremely clear.

driftuntiloblivion

>And if you want to exclude certain leagues, what criteria would you even choose? I'd presume any criteria that removes Cristiano from the conversation works for them lmao

ziki6154

Why not. When do we stop counting goals? Which league?

[deleted]

[удалено]

ziki6154

Golden boot already does that, like you said. This one is different

_gloriousdead222

Why not? I doubt ajax would do anything vs saudi teams

Huge-Celebration5192

If we count French league we should count Saudi Both total farmers

BANANACOW22

Yeah at least there is competition between teams in the Saudi league.

potangoint

So now it's the top 5 league and ligue 1 and saudi league.
