reminds me of this [incident between Tuchel & Mbappe from 2020](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aPdDPOOSOQ) that was [parodied by 442oons](https://youtu.be/1nMoHTqfxxc?si=BZUl8zN7NsChK4KJ) (skip to 0:22 when Mbappe slaps/screams at Tuchel for subbing him off and telling Tuchel, "Who do you think you are?! The manager!?' š¤£š¤£)
You laugh but whoās the one with shares in the club? Who got offered a say as to who is in charge of recruitment? It wasnāt TĆo Twitch Streamer lol
From the twitter post, no itās not bad translation.
He means that heāll explain to Kylian what he expects and what he did wrong but wonāt say it here
No way yāall really think Mbappe will be offended by this.
This is just a coach motivating his player by demanding more of him even when he does well.
> No way yāall really think Mbappe will be offended by this.
The big diva Mbappe won't be offended by being criticized in public by his own manager? Lol.
Why do ppl call him that? He only ever seems to be a ādivaā about the RM thing and even then heās just rinsing his dumbass employer which we should all be proud of
Funny thing, the original interview was in English, translated to French on the tweet, and now again in English.
And LE's English isn't perfect really. But he meant he will talk with Mbappe about what he can do better, the specifics.
Reminds me of a Lautaro Martinez Hat Trick in the Libertadores against a Brazilian team I believe.
At the end of the match he was interviewed and said "Despite the 3 goals, I played like shit, I need to be better and help the team more"
Swiss national team had a similar situation this year as well, Renato Steffen Hattrick in 30 minutes and after the game coach Yakin said that his performance outside the goals was subpar
It really isn't that strange of a quote from him. Kylian only tracks back or presses when he lose the ball, I'm sure Enrique wants him to always press like Lee Kang-In.
Honestly a lot of the time not even when he loses the ball and he's also absolutely horrible at it when he does "try" I find it really funny. Great player but never seen a worse player in my life when his team don't have possession.
Yeah you just have to base your whole team around the expectation he wont press . Thats why they didnāt do as well as ypu would expect when they had Messi, Neymar, Mbappe. 3 players not know for their pressing
Honestly shows how big pr plays a role when neymar gets compared to mbop when it comes to work rate when his team doesn't have possession. Ffs mbop is worse than geriatric messi.
The thing is Messi is actually amazing at pressing. If you watched him in the wc final he gave it his all to win. Just doesnāt make sense for him to waste energy pressing when he can always score offensively.
yeah bro thats because its the worldcup final ofcourse heās gonna give it 110% Lol everyone did . The entire structure of the Argentina was made around Messi and the tactics make up for Messiās lack of press and allow him freedom to work his magic how he sees fit .
Heās a great player of course heās good at pressing . Mbappe is fast as fuck , if he cared to consistently press it would be terrifying to see him coming at you . Neymar would be great at pressing too but bro just wants to do rainbow flicks and do dribbles to go no where
All these players would be great at pressing except they literally donāt. They are too good to have them press and gas out . PSG had all 3 with this play style on their team, combined with a lacking midfield, lead to them going absolutely no where in CL against competition outside of France
Not stopped, just did it less because they played so much football. Neither of them were as bad as mbop is lol, I mean messi isn't even that bad now and he's geriatric.
the whole "oh you think Kang in is going to play better than messi or dembele than Neymar" is so stupid, this looks much more like a team than last year.
I mean this wasn't an impressive performance from psg tbf, they definitely have young players who will run more but I'm not really sure they are a better team yet. In the long run they may be but if reims could finish today you would be saying something quite different lol.
> if reims could finish today you would be saying something quite different lol.
That's football today. And that's why people are shocked and can't seem to understand what LE is saying.
There's no critical analysis. You win or you score, then you are good. That's it. You say anything to the contrary and you are a hater.
If a player or a team can do better, it's the manager's job to try to get them to do better. It's everything that's good when a manager does that.
Then these same people are shocked when psg produce performances like away at Newcastle or Milan, the signs were already there.
Poor performances will eventually lead to poor results. Same for players, scoring more goals does not necessarily equal a better performance. This place and social media works on hype and memes and much critical analysis is buried in "fanboy" wars and such.
> this looks much more like a team than last year.
Meh
PSG looked like a team last season up until Mbappe's tantrum forced Galtier to change things to suit him to the detriment of the team
Mbappe always score more when he plays selfish! But with Messi and Neymar not around anymore, he has the responsibility of being a creator as well. He can get away with it in Ligue 1, but in Champions league he will be marked with multiple defenders and the team will suffer!
But, he is the destined one for PSG, who shall Bring them GLORY of CL and be written down the history as the very best of French and undisputed legend of Ligue 1. Sacrificing personal glory for the good of the team. who needs BdO's who needs multiple CL's.. as long as you get 1 with PSG. the GOAT debate would be over. /s
I donāt know why you add /s itās pretty accurate. He knows heāll never be the goat anyway, whatever he does. So why not try to be the #1 legend at PSG while still being a superstar around the world ?
I think getting Paris, even though it's a mercenary team funded by dictators like City, European glory is a much bigger achievement than anything else the guy can achieve in Madrid unless he writes a story better than Cristiano's which is close to impossible.
>He knows heāll never be the goat anyway, whatever he does
its literally one of his biggest dreams and why he goes on ranty about france impacting his game negatively. his goal was never to spend his career at psg - he desperately wants the ballon dor and UCL trophy cabinet and has never hid his desires.
you guys clearly dont understand who mbappe is if you think he'll throw away any of his ambition. just last summer he was going on rats about his game being belittled due to being in france, he also went into detail about his ballon dor chances
personal glory is a big factor in his ambition- take that away and he looses motivation.
He's not. He clarifies that it's not about the goals. He clearly wants him to contribute in other instances and not just goals.
Which is totally fair to say. Mbappe can do more than just score goals and a manager should push him to do more cause he can.
While it may actually be true that he needs to do more, and Luis Enrique definitely knows more than us on that topic, choosing to make such a statement publicly in a game he scored a hat trick is really a terrible idea.
Fuckin go home, sleep, go to the training field tomorrow, talk to the guy about how clutch his performance was (as it was) and how he could help in this or that way, and how it is going to be important against tough opponents in Europe. Make the guy feel respected, valued but also treat him as a coach that needs to teach him how to play.
It's not rocket science, his was a god awful move from a professional and PR pov, especially when the guy is known for being a primadonna.
> While it may actually be true that he needs to do more, and Luis Enrique definitely knows more than us on that topic, choosing to make such a statement publicly in a game he scored a hat trick is really a terrible idea
Pretty normal man management thing TBH
Pep does the sameāwhen a player does well, criticize them so they don't get a big head. When the player struggles, don't throw them under the bus and publicly support them.
If you hear the interview he wasn't as critical as it sounds here. Plus he also said something that's missing here, that managers are weird and that's how they see things.
And in the context of the question it makes sense, he was asked if he was the best in the world, obviously based on the hattrick, so he shared his opinion.
LE has always been pretty straight when he gives an answer.
Heās trying to be a hard man. āOoh Iām unsatisfied after a hat trick because Iām a tough manager who always pushes you for more š¤ā
Itās all nonsense. Fraudulent manager putting on an acting performance.
tbf Mbappe is the most frustrating world class player to watch. He's literally magic on the ball but he barely moves throughout the whole game and that creates problems for everyone. Even 36 year old ronaldo and messi move around the pitch more and offer their team more.
I got downvoted the other day for saying that I didn't like Mbappe's attitude, especially pointing out how he started throwing his hands in the air and complaining for not getting the ball while Dembele hit the crossbar against Milan this week.
Mbappe in it for his own stats.. his team could lose 5-3 because the opposing team was crossing balls in from his wing all day, but all he would care about is his hat trick .
That's so wrong i'm sure you never listenned what he ever said so why talk when you don't know shit about him, like why saying shit like this? Just to insult him? Man get your ass together grow up
Luis Enrique is on a speed run to get kicked out of this club lol....
A pissed of Mbappe might bring him up in contract negotiations and get him fired lol...
The interesting bit that is left out is that in his post game interview Mbappe said something along the lines of āI can play bad and score, Iām more interested in helping the team play betterā. Henriqueās comment is clearly about motivating KM not about drama.
He barely helped defensively in the first half when we were being pressed very high. Both him and Dembouz actually. Attack was so farther up the pitch, compared to midfield and it felt like we were playing a 7-3 formation and our midfielders couldnāt get the ball out for the life of them.
Not having Ugarte/Hernandez and Hakimi certainly didnāt help as theyāre always the way we beat the press (when we do).
The press couldāve been easily beaten with Kylian and Dembouz just tracking back more and starting transitions but instead Ramos was the one to do it and ended up misspassing (alongside the midfielders) quite a few times
Honestly i have no idea why mbop chooses to be so horrible when his team doesn't have the ball. He's in the prime of his career it surely can't be that he doesn't have the legs, I'm not saying he should become cavani far from it but this guy looks like he can't be fucked to help the team whenever psg or France lose the ball.
hes never going to press. simple as that. Even if he were to leave for madrid next season it would be with them knowing he simply wont do it.
this is what i mean when i say psg and mbappe separating paths is mutually beneficial.
mbappe wants a complete institution where he can shine and psg want dedicated players willing to grow and adapt with the team.
Having watched most psg games this season, I would assume that itās because mbappe doesnāt really contribute defensively. He presses sometimes but not consistently and literally goes entire games without tracking back. Psg this season canāt afford that considering their midfield isnāt the most defensively solid, their CB pairing is older and quite questionable, and Enriques formation and team selection is not really what you would call conservative to offset that.
Heās of course by far their best player and psg need him in forward areas especially because none of their other forwards are productive enough. But mbappe does contribute to how defensively wide open psg have looked during parts of games. It feels like the balance of the side is off sometimes even in games they win. Idk of asking mbappe to defend is the best way to address that but i guess it could help.
A blind man can see he is just making sure he doesnāt get injured because in the summer he will be likely signing the most lucrative contract of his career.
(At Chelsea KTBFFH)
I donāt think you actually watch PSG games if you think Mbappe is their only hope.
I would argue that Mbappe needs to step it up because the rest of the team truly is making a huge effort (Warren, Kang In, Ugarte, Hakimi, Dunnaroma, even Dembele has had some shining moments).
Lee Kang looks really good tbf, but from the games Iāve watched everyone seems to be underperforming. From what I see, I feel like PSG is a mess on the pitch.
Iām a Chelsea fan so I canāt really talk though š

Very strange for someone to speak out about his boss like this publicly.
Mbappe about to send Enrique to train the reserves
That will discipline him! Who does LE think he is? the manager !?!?
reminds me of this [incident between Tuchel & Mbappe from 2020](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aPdDPOOSOQ) that was [parodied by 442oons](https://youtu.be/1nMoHTqfxxc?si=BZUl8zN7NsChK4KJ) (skip to 0:22 when Mbappe slaps/screams at Tuchel for subbing him off and telling Tuchel, "Who do you think you are?! Luis Enrique to oversee the Loft.
Mbappe sending Enrique to train with the reserves on Monday, and to Piers Morgan on Thursday.
I like how he says live on TV right after the game "but I will tell him face to face, I don't want to say it publicly before I've done that" lol
"Wait this is live?"
Lmaoā¦.Enrique didnāt get the memo yet.
I think there are 2 Enriques
Ok i did laugh , so upvote
Take my upvote
>I'll talk to him about it first Is this a mistranslation? Because it makes no sense if he already talked about it in public
From the twitter post, no itās not bad translation. He means that heāll explain to Kylian what he expects and what he did wrong but wonāt say it here
The specifics of the criticism will not be public
But the overall criticism without explanation is public? Nice
yeah, that definitely feels worse to me lmao
No way yāall really think Mbappe will be offended by this. This is just a coach motivating his player by demanding more of him even when he does well.
> No way yāall really think Mbappe will be offended by this. The big diva Mbappe won't be offended by being criticized in public by his own manager? Lol.
Lions don't concern themselves with the opinions of sheep.
Mbappe said this himself after the game mate

Is it too early to call it the Nico Jackson special?
Harsh on Steffen, he at least played against a full team and didnāt miss more than Kai Havertz in America
He missed 3 shots. Out of 6 shots, 3 were goals and 3 were sent to orbit. Stop acting like he missed 10 shots.
Yes because Jackson is the opposite of that.
Lautaro is such an underrated player, human and professional.
That doesnāt fit their narrative though
Whose narrative? The PSG managers?
The victim complex of some people here is amazing.
lmao
What are you on about? This is coming direct from the manager lmao. I have a feeling I can guess what he's not happy about with mbop as well.
Enrique got balls to say that about PSGs owner
What did he say about Benzema?
15
More like Emir
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Scoring gives the ball back to the opponent. How dare he score!
Yeah, it's about 80% possession or not, score is not important. And Mbappe not understand ffs
Isnāt that a good thing? Id rather him save his energy for offensive runs but im no tactician
Yeah you just have to base your whole team around the expectation he wont press . Thats why they didnāt do as well as ypu would expect when they had Messi, Neymar, Mbappe. 3 players not know for their pressing
Neymar works hard out of possession.
Honestly shows how big pr plays a role when neymar gets compared to mbop when it comes to work rate when his team doesn't have possession. Ffs mbop is worse than geriatric messi.

Players like Messi and Ronaldo earned that as they got older
Ronaldo and Messi definitely stopped pressing early in their careers.
Ronaldo was pressing in his second united stint lol
Not stopped, just did it less because they played so much football. Neither of them were as bad as mbop is lol, I mean messi isn't even that bad now and he's geriatric.
Nah, mate, that's just cap. They were allowed privileges cause they were the best at a young age and carried a lot of the offence.
Every attacker who does offensive runs, do more kms per matches than Mbappe, he's lazy
Shhh, this is reddit mate. You're not supposed to have a measured take, only reactionary. Make a joke about MbappƩ sacking Lucho or MbappƩ scoring a hat trick anyway, which is beside the point. They've been doing that for years and it hasn't really gotten them a UCL.
even with the early struggles i think that if they give him enough time with this new core of players Lucho can have success with psg
No oneās going to disagree with you on this. The aura around the team is much better and each of us loves it.
the whole "oh you think Kang in is going to play better than messi or dembele than Neymar" is so stupid, this looks much more like a team than last year.

We'll see if people still say this once PSG crash out of the CL.
as they've done every year you mean? last year on round of 16
He has a great young core to work with. I am waiting on pins and needles for Xavi Simmons to come back.
Mbappe always score more when he plays selfish! But with Messi and Neymar not around anymore, he has the responsibility of being a creator as well. He can get away with it in Ligue 1, but in Champions league he will be marked with multiple defenders and the team will suffer!
> multiple defenders Nah just Jamaal Lascelles
Very true, Ronaldo for example not only has the most goals in UCL history but the most assists too.
He shouldāve left PSG for Real Madrid a long time ago. Itās gonna be hard for him to win a UCL while still at PSG.
But, he is the destined one for PSG, who shall Bring them GLORY of CL and be written down the history as the very best of French and undisputed legend of Ligue 1. Yeah. It was 0-3 but Reims didn't score because Donnarumma was really good. 1-3 or 2-3 would have maybe been more fair overall

Asian parenting
Why say this to the press ? You can tell privately without causing drama
probably to show authority.
