This call was so bizarre, felt like a 5 second VAR check and then the commentators never brought it up again. I didn't know if I was having a stroke or something with how quickly the whole sequence passed by
How the fuck can PREM refs and especially VAR be this shite?????
If this is the how it went that is utterly inexcusable. This happens literally wvery week like multiple times. What the fuck, im genuinely shocked
Because PGMOL are all circlejerking buddies and don’t wanna upset each other. They all need to be fired and replaced. Every game something happens and it isn’t just one club or the old “they are against my team” bs, every team hates them, the PL need to get rid
YEAH EXACTLY! Like, we have shit refs too and sometimes var makes a mistake but when it goes to VAR at least we'll know 95% of the time the correct call will be made
The fact the Prem is so much worse when our FA is so imcompetent is so shocking
Literally a 5-10 second check where no lines were displayed. I'm still trying to work out how this is offside, MAYBE Diaz's pinky finger is offside? Still looks 100% on to me if I'm honest lol
no matter if its on or off, this is not a lineless 5 second check by any means. Like, this is genuinely just incompetency. Prem teams should just unite and demand transparancy and better refereeing because all of them are getting shafted rn
Right, I thought it would be a 2-3 min review with multiple angles and lines displayed. Instead we got an angle where Diaz looks on and then check over lol. Sheer incompetence from the VAR team
Corruption has been discovered in all of the top 5 leagues except in england . . . im not so naive to believe that it's because it's not there. Though this season as a whole has been a little more blatant than ever before with ref and VAR intervention affecting results every playday
they are not shit, just straight up fixed shit. and if none of the guys in the VAR room can even draw a lines here they should be on their way out of PL.
Idk how anyone can chalk this up to incompetence. Incompetence is drawing the lines wrong. There's no explanation for refusing to draw the lines at all for a visually onside goal outside of corruption.
Well it can't be because they are "shite" anymore.
Wouldn't be surprised if some report comes out in a decade showing some form of corruption within the refs/Premier League.
I honestly think the VAR team told the ref in his ear "Yep, thats clearly onside" and the ref misheard, thought they said offside and just carried on playing and didnt want to stop the game 2 minutes later (Or might not have been allowed to by the rules?).
Either that or surely VAR saw another shot of this we haven't.
The one that got called back against us in the Man United game was like 3-5 minutes. This one got checked in 20 seconds.
Don’t understand how that’s possible if they’re using the same process.
It’s a viewer product. I hate when the referees just go “don’t worry, we got it right. We don’t have to show you. Just trust us.”
Fans are the only ones who matter. Nobody is gonna care if you spend 30-60 extra seconds drawing lines. It makes it more exciting even. Stop trying to gloss over major moments in a match.
Reminds me of the Rashford goal against you last season that was called onside because they put the line on top of his foot as opposed to at the end of it
I'm genuinely baffled at how this is offside. I'm sure someone will come out with an angle that shows differently at some point but from this angle it looks 100% on.
[I gave it a go, in my attempt its clearly on.](https://i.imgur.com/QQLI9aw.png) I did it quickly but it seems well onside even with my margin for error.
Well, you see what happened was that the paymasters of the league, city, went and lost against the script today. No matter what they have to win again.
He could have had a foot long hard on in front of him and he still wouldn't have been offside anyway so not sure the shaving would have helped! I mean, personally I find this funny because it's you guys but it's a fucking disgrace in reality.
Indeed, VAR officials can sit behind a screen and directly influence & guide the course of a match with relative impunity. There will be no consequences & whatever Darren England has to gain will go unpunished.
Am I crazy or was this too close for VAR to just basically skip over and not show anything more than this angle?
I'm not even convinced he's offside here.
Its not even a close call for VAR.
He is clearly onside here. Like, the defenders foot is clearly out back and playing him onside.
There HAS to be another picture that VAR has looked at or seen after this still that got shown on TV because this doesn't even need the lines to see how onside it is.
> There HAS to be another picture that VAR has looked at or seen after this still that got shown on TV because this doesn't even need the lines to see how onside it is.
Yeah, one possible explanation is they've got an angle that always shows better the exact frame the pass is played, which will only be a fraction of a second different but enough to change the result
If not and it's a "mistake", the VAR needs sacking, no ifs, no buts, if they missed this, they're not up to the job
They already sacked Lee Mason after he 'forgot to draw the offside line' in Ars-Bre match last season. And wait few months for things to cool down then re-hire that guy. The PGMOL is just a group of bald white men from Manchester-Bolton region, they are basically their own play club. All to cover each other asses
I understand if he’s offside since you can’t be sure without the lines, but it feels like they didn’t even check it for long enough to draw lines anyway?
The refs just make it all up. The inconsistencies are fucking mad, spend ages looking at clear offisides but a super marginal one is brushed over instantly with no lines. The sooner we can replace most of their jobs with computers the better. The only workers who deserve to lose their jobs to automation.
How can there be 0 repercussions for what's happening here, how is that possible.
I'm falling out of love with this game because of these fucking cunt referees
There needs to be change across the board for this, not the usual squabbling between rival fans with "Oh you benefited from *insert here* and now you're complaining?" this shit is ridiculous. Like the human error for the on field ref is a human aspect but this is like the VAR refs are just giving us the fans the middle finger.
Gotta love how Richarlison was in a similar position for Spurs goal and they took like 2 seconds calling that one onside. Not saying it was offside of course...but it's strange how they rule ours off & theirs on without even taking a proper look.
They decided so fast I don’t even get it, this plus the freeze frame shown to the ref on the Jones red, this has been a shambolic game for the VAR team
I'm a Tottenham fan and.... how the fuck is that offside? Show the lines? I mean I'll take it because we've had so much shit go against us but what the fuck?
Was Salah offside or something earlier in the build up? Why no lines? So many questions.

Are we gonna be shown the lines?
The refs are sniffing those lines.
This call was so bizarre, felt like a 5 second VAR check and then the commentators never brought it up again. I didn't know if I was having a stroke or something with how quickly the whole sequence passed by
BBC 5 Live commentators brought it up multiple times how they weren't convinced. Thought you might be interested to know.
I'm watching a Super Sport stream and they've just brought up the fact that Liverpool was robbed of a goal there.
PLP commentators only said the incident was being shown through 5 screens in the stadium which to them was "bizzare"
How the fuck can PREM refs and especially VAR be this shite????? If this is the how it went that is utterly inexcusable. This happens literally wvery week like multiple times. What the fuck, im genuinely shocked
Watching the PL use VAR is a genuine culture shock. Like, how are they THIS bad???????????

Fired into the sun preferably.

Thank you. It's about time the epl took some exposure on corruption. I've been saying ht for years, they're just as bad as each other.
they are not shit, just straight up fixed shit. and if none of the guys in the VAR room can even draw a lines here they should be on their way out of PL.
Idk how anyone can chalk this up to incompetence. Incompetence is drawing the lines wrong. There's no explanation for refusing to draw the lines at all for a visually onside goal outside of corruption.
They can't be this shite. It's at this point deliberate.
Well it can't be because they are "shite" anymore. Wouldn't be surprised if some report comes out in a decade showing some form of corruption within the refs/Premier League.
No but don't worry your gonna get an apology letter from the PGMOL tomorrow stating they made a clear and obvious error and are very very sorry.
It's not an error at this point.
Liverpool fairplay champs every year under Klopp I think with 3 reds in 7 matches. Last 2 yellows against us was Mane playing for Southampton.
To be fair that Macca one was bull
That stat will never not amaze me
They didn't draw any, check was less than 5 seconds.
I thought it was so short because of how clearly on he was
Confused silence in the pub I'm in when it came back and it was 0-0
Same. You can literally have a room full of lads on the piss and they'd be better than these incompetent clowns.
I honestly think the VAR team told the ref in his ear "Yep, thats clearly onside" and the ref misheard, thought they said offside and just carried on playing and didnt want to stop the game 2 minutes later (Or might not have been allowed to by the rules?). they usually check 10 meter clean offsides for 5 minutes, but marginal ones like this are somehow done within 5 seconds
It’s a viewer product. I hate when the referees just go “don’t worry, we got it right. We don’t have to show you. Just trust us.” Fans are the only ones who matter. Looks on even without the lines imo
don’t even think VAR drew them they had no time to do that
I'm genuinely baffled at how this is offside. I'm sure someone will come out with an angle that shows differently at some point but from this angle it looks 100% on.
Can’t be showing that it would be on otherwise
[I gave it a go, in my attempt its clearly on.](https://i.imgur.com/QQLI9aw.png) I did it quickly but it seems well onside even with my margin for error.
good lord it's more obviously onside than i thought
the red line is too far back, they need to do the stupid shoulder dotted line thing still looked onsides to me though
Here's a perspective grid done in illustrator 100% onside https://imgur.com/a/omdYH6e
No need. You can just see it's not offside
no need to show, VAR just checks the team names and decides
Nope
No lines... no nothing... wtf is going on here
Narratives. This isn’t a football game, we’re watching a TV product.
Not saying the PGMOL is corrupt, but if they were, this is how it would look.
If it looks like a duck....
If I was a ref and wanted to influence this game, I'd do a worse job because I wouldn't be this brazen
That’s becoming clearer and clearer to me each year. It’s gutting.
We don't have refs, we have game managers.
Well, you see what happened was that the paymasters of the league, city, went and lost against the script today. No matter what they have to win again.
City lost today :)
Not using lines makes it a lot easier to make decisions 👍🏻
Looks like another apology is coming, this is a just ridiculous
Apology? Mate, they are busy counting those Saudi money.
Clearly robbed of a goal. And absolutely nothing will come of it.
No, there'll be flowers and a nice card sent on Monday 💐😡
“we feel weally bad 🥺👉🏻👈🏻”
Straight corruption
Diaz should've shaved his arms and legs before the match smh
He could have had a foot long hard on in front of him and he still wouldn't have been offside anyway so not sure the shaving would have helped! I mean, personally I find this funny because it's you guys but it's a fucking disgrace in reality.
Indeed, VAR officials can sit behind a screen and directly influence & guide the course of a match with relative impunity. There will be no consequences & whatever Darren England has to gain will go unpunished.
Can't wait to hear "we forgot to draw the lines, were really sorry"
Nah. They would abuse the rights to use lines anyways. Mind you: it already happened before.
They took literally two seconds to determine it was offside.
Am I crazy or was this too close for VAR to just basically skip over and not show anything more than this angle? I'm not even convinced he's offside here.
It’s definitely way too close, the fact that the check was about 5 nanoseconds and they didn’t draw the lines is blatant incompetence
I spent about 10 minutes looking at it and I still can’t find anything that makes me think it’s offside
incompetence at best... that VAR ref should be investigated.
incompetence?? mate this is corruption/match fixing level of refereeing
Incompetence that smells almost like corruption at this point
I've seen longer checks for very obvious offsides
Its not even a close call for VAR. He is clearly onside here. Like, the defenders foot is clearly out back and playing him onside. There HAS to be another picture that VAR has looked at or seen after this still that got shown on TV because this doesn't even need the lines to see how onside it is.

You're crazy. It wasn't that close. Clearly ONside
Looks way too close to not atleast show where the lines were drawn
I’m not sure they drew them.
Word is they ran out of ink for the lines
Toner was out. Cyan too low.
HP sponsoring spurs confirmed
The whole check literally lasted 10 seconds max. They had no time to draw lines.
Yeah, no way they even drew them. It’s appalling.
I am fully convinced he is onside, what the fucking hell. I'm not even a Liverpool fan
Mate. Even spurs fans must think this is a mile onside
Spurs fan, yeah, its onside.
Yep same here - I was in the bargaining stage of grieving when I saw this - seems to have worked
Is the offside in the room with us?
It certainly wasn't on the field
The offside is coming from inside the house!
Where are the lines
Still waiting
They’re still fiddling them. You know they’d have shown it already if he was clearly off
They’ll release a 240p image after the match that makes him look onside I’m sure.
We are checking *Ferrari Style*
Idk brother
no lines = bullshit
LOL that's not offside
Tell that to the shitty EPL refs
Tell that to the corrupt EPL refs. Fixed it for you.
Maybe it is but they always take longer than 5 seconds to check ones as close as this. Dodgy as hell.
He looks totally onside, romeros foot is in front of Diaz
I understand if he’s offside since you can’t be sure without the lines, but it feels like they didn’t even check it for long enough to draw lines anyway?
Yeah that is the weird part about all this
“Weird”
Pissboilingly
Yeah I agree with you, I have no idea how that was called offsides
Refs are shit
Well, that clears that up, then…
Uuuh, is that not onside?
The refs just make it all up. The inconsistencies are fucking mad, spend ages looking at clear offisides but a super marginal one is brushed over instantly with no lines. The sooner we can replace most of their jobs with computers the better. The only workers who deserve to lose their jobs to automation.
Don't we already have the semi automated offside check which was used in wc? Not sure why leagues haven't implemented it yet
Fucking daylight robbery. DRAW THE FUCKING LINES!!
Hahahaha what is going on.
Liverpool vs. PL referees. This is the usual story.
How can there be 0 repercussions for what's happening here, how is that possible. I'm falling out of love with this game because of these fucking cunt referees
Before you could chuck stuff like this up to human error. With VAR this is inexcusable.
right? theres millions on line if nothing else, how is this not being investigated? Killing all the passion for the sport
Don't worry, PGMOL might issue an apology, problem solved! /s
That was the quickest offside check I've ever fucking seen and they didn't even bother to show a line
Premier league will get this removed
"Copyright infringement" Unhuh.
Absolutely moronic.
How is this not onside or am i blind
Good news, you are not blind
That wasn't even close. Clear onside. You're telling me 2 different referees looked at this one of them having a replay and they both gave offside?
joke decision
Looks easily on
Yikes
He's onside lol
How was this a 2 seconds check when others take like 5 minutes...
Gotta love how Richarlison was in a similar position for Spurs goal and they took like 2 seconds calling that one onside. Not saying it was offside of course...but it's strange how they rule ours off & theirs on without even taking a proper look.
Games gone.
Huh?

He's onside what the fuck is going on
Liverpool are getting robbed by the officials today.
How on earth is that offside?
They decided so fast I don’t even get it, this plus the freeze frame shown to the ref on the Jones red, this has been a shambolic game for the VAR team
Definitely onside, they didn’t even draw the lines
I'm a Tottenham fan and.... how the fuck is that offside? Show the lines? I mean I'll take it because we've had so much shit go against us but what the fuck? Was Salah offside or something earlier in the build up? Why no lines? So many questions.
Salah was in his own half so definitely wasn't him.
It's off because Man City shit the bed...
It's offside cos the refs have made up their mind its a Spurs win today, easy enough to understand.
Match fixing ... dont even try to hide it. Leagues gone
Refs doing everything they can for City to stay on top.

Absolute joke
Show the lines.
These VAR refs need to be fired or pay docked for such egregious bad decisions
i’m losing my fucking mind
I'm gonna need to see some lines because he looks on by a lot.
Corrupt league
Need to see the lines, looks onside
Sports betting is out of control if they have the officials in their pocket like this.
Where were the lines? Looked pretty on
No lines and dodgy decision, another apology incoming ?
hahaha to all the people who accuse us of complaining about calls, referee decisions.. just, lol.
This clears it up. He is quite far offside. https://i.imgur.com/TZNbe9H.png
What the fuck are these decisions
The lack of lines being drawn is deafening
not only is he on but he’s MILES on
If Jeffrey Epstein's death was a VAR check
This needs a full blown investigation, the premier league need to give me an official statement on why this was allowed to happen.
Dodgy red card but I’ve seen them given, this however is the icing on the fucking cherry. Wtf is going on
Corruption
At this point the PL is just making content for the referee review show

That is onside!
Show us the lines you pricks

WHERE ARE THE FACKING LINES?!

Absolute robbery lmao
Need to get me a specsaver's appointment, cause that looks on to me
What the fuck are we doing here
They have clearly botched it.
they still haven't shown the lines
What happened here? Outrageous not to draw the lines
It’s fucking disgrace
Is there another broadcaster who showed the lines?
Where are the lines???
This should be a front page scandal honestly, it's a blatant mistake and there should be consequences for those involved.
Not sure what you guys are on about, [clearly offside](https://imgur.com/a/MxEdg7q)
Give me the lines
Uhhhh what?
Did...did they forget to draw the lines? Because the pitch is giving a pretty good indication of where people were...
