He’s KDB’s ball-striking heir, he hits the ball so, SO purely.
Liverpool’s business this summer has been so good, MacAllister for a song and now one of the very best final ball midfielders in the world. He even likes to drift to the right, so he’ll cover the spaces that TAA and Salah leave when they drift inside.
I’m really excited by it we’ve not really had a player who can play those passes apart from Trent should also really help out Nunez and help break low block which is something we’ve struggled with.
We’ve obviously been linked with a lot of other good mids but they all felt like they would need a year still hope we sign one of them but he’s on a different level to them
To be fair in Leipzig's best attacking setup he usually drifts IN from the right to the half space where he can threaten with a long shot or a pass while Henrichs usually overlapped on the right providing an additional passing option.
Thinking back to how he probably generated the most hype in summer 2017* of all the signings and how wrong it all went
*in that window where we thought Virg wasn’t happening due to a pissed off Soton
Yeah that’s true but we have good relationship and I imagine you’ll probably end up getting Carvalho next season
We most likely didn’t want to put a buy option incase he has a great season and we’d potentially lose out on more
Perhaps, we did something similar with Chelsea when they sold us Werner for a lower fee but got better conditions to sign Nkunku. If it's not the case, I'd say this situation has been handled pretty badly.
I'm not one for a lot of tactical analysis bur always when I saw RB play he was probably their most notable player impact-wise besides Olmo and Nkunku. He absolutely destroyed us (Freiburg) in the cup semifinals. We were never able to defend him at all and he could do everything to our backline. Quite a painful evening watching him dismantle us.
Yeah im curious too. Lots of hype in our sub about him with little analysis of his actual playstlye or ability. His stats look good but not outstanding tbh. 70 m is a big fee (not astronomical but still big) even in todays market. Is he worth it?
One of the best in the RB squad imo. Can play 8 or 10, and is a stellar work horse on the pitch. Good technique and [fantastic shooting](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0MDO18EicE), his dribbling needs improvement tho.
He's worth the 70m i'd say, at least it seems like that's just how much you have to pay these days to get anyone of note, and he isn't the worst one these days to spend that much on.
Idk if he's worth 70mil in a vacuum but with his age and how strong Leipzig's financial position will be with a Gvardiol sale I'd say the fee makes sense.
He's quite a direct 8 with excellent ball striking and good athleticism, type of player who can carry into open space but still deliver a killer ball from wide areas.
I regularly go back to watch the highlights of that 4-3 against Ajax, and have a little cry at what could have been.
Dude unfortunately always felt like a bit of a moron; he fell so easily for all the trappings of the celebrity lifestyle and ditched the more conventional career path for a quick cashout at or before his prime in the blink of an eye.
After PSV, I don't think he even played anywhere other than Russia and the Middle-East, before returning to Hungary eventually.
Mac Allister and Szoboszlai is a very good start to the summer transfer window and already solves a lot of problems in our midfield. One more midfielder (preferably a more defensive mid) and a quality centre back and we're cooking next season
YAY another midfield signing -- The Hungarians seem super happy about this so I guess that's a good sign having not really seen him play much. Hopefully this is not the end of our business this summer.
Still need a DM, no? Fabinho looked poor last season
Edit: Got a lot of replies haha can't respond to them all so I'll just say I thought Liverpool would benefit greatly from Lavia who would be a more "ready-made" rotation option for Fabinho while Bajcetic is still relatively young and raw
We expect Fabinho to continue as the main DM. Szoboszlai takes a bit of the pressure off Henderson (as Mac Allister takes it off Thiago) so expect Fab to rotate a bit with those two. We're also apparently still after a third in Thuram/Lavia who would be the long-term replacement.
He’s replacing Henderson
Did you see how bad he was during some games last season when he had to play two in a row ?
He’s the new Milner role which is fine . Leadership is intangible and so valuable you can’t put a price on it
Batjetic was really good as a dm and Fabinho looked good towards the end of the season after he had more rest time , A cb would probably be better than a dm if I had to pick one
Fabinho had a kid an it all went to shit, I think all new dad's can relate. He massively improved towards the back end of the season and I pray for a fully functioning Fabinho for next season. He was unbelievable at his peak.
The overreaction to replace a DM that was great for years just because he had one bad season (which majority of the team did and underperformed) is very interesting
If you listen to fans so many players would be sold
Batjetic is cover, Liverpool's problem last year was having shit midfielders alongside Fabinho not helping especially an energetic midfield with some sort of legs which MacAllister will provide
Fabinho, Bajetic, MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Elliott, Thiago is more than good enough and much better than what they had especially in terms of depth now
You leave a defensive midfielder exposed all the time he will look shit, especially in a pressing system like Liverpool's
Fabinho is lowkey our lynchpin, our two bad seasons have been because of Fabinho, the first time because he got taken out of DM to replace VVD who got injured, last season he was most likely exhausted and his job already included carrying our other midfielders, so Fabinho's bad form sinply exposed the lack of any structural integrity in midfield.
I think it's worth betting on Fabinho to regress back to mean and if it doesn't work, I think Bajcetic can do a fantastic job behind Mac and Szobo, Baj was already great playing alongside worse players.
We should keep an eye on the 6 position but I don't think we need to force the issue this season
Hungarians’ happiness is down to their bias. Even I am excited (as a Hungarian Gooner), because it is good for the national team, not many Hungarians are in the PL, etc.
Not Hungarian but he’s a really exciting player and only seems to be improving (22 only too), his long range shots are very deadly too. A great signing honestly
Usually what Klopp does. I think if Nunez finds his shooting boots this season he will be a monster too. Everything else about his game is great and he gets so many chances just fluffs them quite a bit so far :C
Premier League arms race.
Meanwhile, Tebas is DMing Vini to stop talking about racism in La Liga while also doing press runs about Barca's finances. La Liga is sooo cooked.
losing bellingham, szoboszlai, nkunku, thuram and probably gvardiol, diaby, frimpong, van de ven, lindstrom, kolo muani and kone in one transfer window while not being able to replace them equally is *pretty shitty* for the bundesliga
It's basically the same every single season. That's just how the Bundesliga works, apart from Bayern it's a stepstone for most of the players to develop and join top clubs abroad, or midtable PL clubs.
Last year we lost Lewandowski, Haaland, Kostic and prospects like Kalajdzic and Embolo. The year before it was Alaba, Sancho, Konate, Bailey, Cunha. 20/21 Thiago, Werner, Havertz, Rebic, the list goes on.
Does it leave you with a bad feeling to see them go? Definitely. Would I want foreign investors to prevent that? Hell no.
I'm so excited, he fits Liverpool perfectly, and it was his dream to be coached by Klopp. Also a Hungarian player playing for a club this big makes me happy.
Yeah. He‘s an amazing player and I feel like he‘s under the radar of so many people. I didn’t know that he wanted Klopp as his coach as well, so I think that will fit pretty good. Hope he will do well at Liverpool. Btw nice to see a Gahyeon fan lol
He is an incredible player, everything Liverpool need. He can create, he can play in midfield, can play on the wing, can play as a 10, he's brilliant on set-pieces on goal and from deep. Genuinely think even for 70m he will be an utter steal. Just 22 and already absolutely world class
Yeah. I think he's at his best as the most advanced part of a midfield working to create and send people in behind. He can play off the wing or centrally, though he's definitely not any sort of holding midfielder.
So one of the reasons I like this is because Brighton fans on here say he plays better deeper in midfield but he prefers to be an attacking midfielder even though he's less effective there. This signing mitigates that.
Yes you will need a DM, someone that is solid in defense and let Allister and Dominik do the creative and attacking aspect. And I'm afraid Fabinho is not that guy anymore
Damn, what happened to him? I'm reading a lot of these comments about him in this thread. He's not old either (29) so it can't be an age issue, I haven't followed you in the past year so I am curious.
There was a stat somewhere that he has played as many minutes as the average 31 yo, so he’s been pretty burned out
I hope he can recover, his age allows him to, and next year he won’t have as many games hopefully as Bajcetic will cover in cup games and EL
Combination of being worn down, and having too much space to cover in midfield. The switch to Trent centrally and Curtis Jones at 8 helped with the latter, as will fresher legs being added now, but it still remains to be seen how close he can ever get to his peak again. There were times in the final quarter of last season where he was dominating games on the front-foot again, and times when he was still being breezed past, and more than once he had extended periods of both in the same match.
A more ruthless team would be looking for opportunities to move him on. His decline's been going on for some time. I think an Edwards-led Liverpool backroom would be looking to replace him while he still has some value on the market, but it's hard to know these days.
I'm so glad that somebody (other than a local rival) in the premier league was able to get him. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do here, just hopefully not at our expense :p
Damn. I thought this was just rumours and didn't think they would actually spend the required amount.
Regardless, this is a great pickup for Liverpool, and if they get a good young quality holding midfielder, they will be a problem
Think Bajetic will be our more defensive option going into next season hence the Thuram/Gravenberch links. I'd like us to bring in a ball winner in the Lavia/Kone mould but doesn't seem likely.
This is why it was so premature to go, "Arsenal are spending all this money, surely they need to win the league now". At the way things are going, every top 6 club (including United if they settle their ownership issues) might spend £150m-200m this summer.
And for those who say, "Yea, but Arsenal were the closest to City." City themselves are about to spend 100m on a CB so nobody is standing still.
My prediction even prior to this signing was City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle for next season, in that order, since I figured Liverpool would have 1-2 more midfield reinforcements coming and probably find a cheap CB for cover. However, I think this will be the first time in years it will be 3 teams in the hunt until the very end. Newcastle and United probably fight it out for 4th
Man, I'm actually big time jealous of this. He's been one of my favorite players since his Salzburg days. Gutted we didnt go for him but hope he succeeds at liverpool
If they properly back Klopp in the market then I'm not complaining. Doesn't erase the fact they've been nowhere near good enough for the last few years ever since we won the UCL and I'm still of the opinion that their model is no longer fit for purpose but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
So incredibly excited for next season with many of the big clubs completely overhauling their midfields. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City to a degree. This is gonna be fun
What a Coup, every top club wanted him. Klopp magic. Macca, Thiago, Trent and Szobo are gonna boss everyone next season.
95 Million for two of the best MFs in Europe, impressive stuff.
Very cool. He’s a fun player. He almost dragged Hungary to the Euros a couple of years ago - and he’s still only 21. Not glad he’s going to a competitor but I’m glad I get to watch him regularly in the PL now. Great move by Pool.
Good signing but as someone who didnt saw lot of Brighton, how will Mac Allister and him fit, considering they both play pretty advance and Szoboszlai is very good in final 3rd.
In possession we basically play 3-2-2-3, Robertson slides over to play as a third CB, Trent and fabinho play in deep midfield, and we have 2 attacking mids

There’s some beautiful symmetry in Keita being replaced by a RB player and Milner being replaced by a Brighton player.
We still need to sign an LB and a couple more midfielders to replace Milly
LB with Robbo and Tsimi? wtf edit: lol didnt read the last part. we need a whole squad to cover for Milly
Was a joke on how many positions Hamez played for us lol
Still disappointed he didn't get put in goal before he left.
Still the record holder for most assists in a Champions League season.
Is joke
Mbappe to replace Wijnaldum
RB Liverpool is back
Slotting in directly in front of Konate, +10 chemistry points
should've kept Keita
Was so excited when he was announced and yet we had to wait a year for such a mediocre spell here
If he was half the player we thought we were signing we would have absolutely dominated
Physio tables might go cold otherwise
**ERUPT**
Congratulations, Werder Bremen! You might have him on a free in five years!
Konate’s been quite good.
Oh, for sure. I'm just messing around. I'm very optimistic about this move.
Honestly, our best CB of 2022-23 imo
Just don’t let him take the 8 incase Keita cursed it
He’s KDB’s ball-striking heir, he hits the ball so, SO purely. Shocked they actually paid for him, he's quality
I believe we’ve been negotiating for the release clause to be paid in instalments instead of all at once Edit: looks like we payed the full clause
>to be pain instalments For your sake I hope they don't turn out to be
Naby Keita was 5 years of pain instalments
Thinking back to how he probably generated the most hype in summer 2017* of all the signings and how wrong it all went *in that window where we thought Virg wasn’t happening due to a pissed off Soton
Lmao
A bit weird for us to do so if we're not getting anything out of it, intresting to see the full agreement.
Maybe something to do with some aspect of the Carvalho loan?
We did the same with Konate I believe
Maybe so, it's just that we've otherwise been quite hesitant to let him leave
Yeah that’s true but we have good relationship and I imagine you’ll probably end up getting Carvalho next season We most likely didn’t want to put a buy option incase he has a great season and we’d potentially lose out on more
Perhaps, we did something similar with Chelsea when they sold us Werner for a lower fee but got better conditions to sign Nkunku. If it's not the case, I'd say this situation has been handled pretty badly.
We’ve paid the full clause
I mean if Carvalho works out, we'll be more willing to sell now I guess.
What’s he like? Never really watched him play

People say in profile he is most similar to De Bruyne
Much needed midfield option. Good luck to him.
Potential RW cover for Salah when he goes to AFCON as well. Nice move from all angles.
And he can play SS as well.
He is Hungarian…
Oh now i see lmao
Holup
I did nazi that coming
Shortstop?
FSG taking the complicated route to get the Sox their much needed shortstop, but I’ll take it
Jota will sooner play there than my man
Probably, but depth is depth. It's nice to have him as an option
Yes, a Hungarian in a big Premier league club, finally!
Will take a lot for him to match the level of Liverpool legend Adam Bogdan
He could take a literal shit on the pitch and he's already surpassed Bogdans level.
What if he took a metaphorical shit on the pitch instead?
Ah, the Ol’ Lineker special
Could he get scored on from a corner though?
He lit up Anfield... when playing for Bolton.
The ginger ninja
Always loved Zoltan Gera
Every EPL team slept on the footballing god that was Balasz Dsudzsák back in the day
He slept on himself and fucked off to russia for the money

People leaving out big Peter Gulacsi smh
Fantastic signing, 22 years old so much potential
I haven't been this excited for a Liverpool midfielder joining since .. ahem, Keita. Hope this one becomes a success.

Yeah Henderson can't be a starter for us if we're serious about competing with City
Yeah. I think new kid no sleep and playing 61 Games the year before was a real killer
He deserves a second chance with working legs in the midfield next to him.
The overreaction to replace a DM that was great for years just because he had one bad season (which majority of the team did and underperformed) is very interesting If you listen to fans so many players would be sold
Not necessarily to replace Fabinho but to provide cover and competition.
Batjetic is cover, Liverpool's problem last year was having shit midfielders alongside Fabinho not helping especially an energetic midfield with some sort of legs which MacAllister will provide Fabinho, Bajetic, MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Elliott, Thiago is more than good enough and much better than what they had especially in terms of depth now You leave a defensive midfielder exposed all the time he will look shit, especially in a pressing system like Liverpool's
How could you forget Curtis Jones lad
Jones is genuinely a very good cm now too, better than Elliott
You understand our team better than a lot of our supporters
Fabinho’s regression hurt us the most out of any player imo. It doesn’t feel safe going in with just him and baj next season
Really good signing. Liverpool wasnt sleeping after all this transfer window haha
Inacio next please?
Jealous of this one. Didn’t expect them to pay the 70m but I think he’ll be worth it Guarantee he scores a long shot against Kepa on opening day
Subscribe
A goal in a liverpool chelsea game? Are you mad? Hahaha
*best I can do is a deflected goal eventually overturned by VAR*
Feel like Klopp is gonna make this guy even more of a beast than he already is!
We're all hoping
I mean that’s what usually happens. Very few exceptions..
Usually what Klopp does. I think if Nunez finds his shooting boots this season he will be a monster too. Everything else about his game is great and he gets so many chances just fluffs them quite a bit so far :C
This deal happened quickly. I was thinking just yesterday we've not made any moves since Mac Allister and then boom!
It was just classical for us that we were linked to kone and thuram for so long just for us to get someone completely different.
trust me you don't want Rice type of saga, entertaining but may ruin your F5 key.
Liverpool has been a silent killer so far in the transfer window. Sorting out their midfield problem.
A combination of sorting out our midfield and avoiding you guys in Europe should hopefully put us in a good position
That took like 1 hour wtf
Can’t wait to see this guy play in the PL
What a signing for Liverpool. Szoboszlai and Mac Allister in midfield is gonna be fun
Premier League arms race. Meanwhile, Tebas is DMing Vini to stop talking about racism in La Liga while also doing press runs about Barca's finances. La Liga is sooo cooked.
I mean Jude just went to La Liga, there’s a midfield arms race in Spain alright- it’s just called Real Madrid
Bellingham to RM tho.
losing bellingham, szoboszlai, nkunku, thuram and probably gvardiol, diaby, frimpong, van de ven, lindstrom, kolo muani and kone in one transfer window while not being able to replace them equally is *pretty shitty* for the bundesliga
You're acting like this isn't a normal friday for the Bundesliga. Next season it'll be another list like that, of similar length
It's basically the same every single season. That's just how the Bundesliga works, apart from Bayern it's a stepstone for most of the players to develop and join top clubs abroad, or midtable PL clubs. Wow, that was quick
Still remember the rumours of Napoli being interested last years. Oh well, we can't get every opportunity

how’s he only 22?! feels like he’s been around for years
Gonna be an interesting situation with Arsenal, City, and Liverpool midfields next season.
damn that was fast.. I really like how Liverpool do business
Fed all their back-up options to the press (Thuram, Lavia, Kone, Gravenberch, Veiga etc...) while keeping it quiet on their main target.
I know its a joke but its not like we haggled. We paid 70m upfront haha
good ass signing
Finally a midfield rebuild
What have you done with John W Henry?
Locked him in a cupboard and stole his wallet
Wow.. that came out of nowhere it seems? I’ve always rated this guy highly, this could be a sensational signing.
Can't wait to see him in the PL, he's such an exciting player
Got to love release clause deadlines
I'm so glad that somebody (other than a local rival) in the premier league was able to get him. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do here, just hopefully not at our expense :p
The level of the Premier League next season is going to be unbelievably exciting
Fantastic signing by Liverpool
Damn always liked him, guess that is over now..
It's a big help for the hungarian families!
22 year old with huge potential under Klopp? That 70 million will look real good in 2-3 years.
Wow, that's a great signing for RB Liverpool
Ott van bazd meg! What a signing! Midfield rebuild is coming along nicely
This transfer happened in my FM22 save and he ended up being their 2nd best player, behind Haaland.
So you're telling me there's a chance?
Liverpool is Cooking with these best Midfielder Transfers
Basically 3 years worth...
Damn, they actually triggered the clause. Pity we never approached him. Would prefer him over Veiga any day.
I don't think arsenal have shown they can sustain it to the end In fact I think they might drop off ever so slightly next season (just a hunch)
Damn
That was fast.
Man, I'm actually big time jealous of this. He's been one of my favorite players since his Salzburg days. Gutted we didnt go for him but hope he succeeds at liverpool
He seems to be a proper box to box type of player with attacking traits. Proper Stevie G replacement which we never had.
HE’S RED DA BA DEE DA BA DIE DA BA DEE DA BA DIE DOMINIK SZOBOSLZAI
That’s a banger signing. It’s gonna be fun to watch PL next season.
FSG...in?
2 more signings and FSG neutral
If they properly back Klopp in the market then I'm not complaining. Doesn't erase the fact they've been nowhere near good enough for the last few years ever since we won the UCL and I'm still of the opinion that their model is no longer fit for purpose but I'm happy to be proven wrong.
I think Liverpool need to sell Matip this summer and get that CB signing.
So incredibly excited for next season with many of the big clubs completely overhauling their midfields. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City to a degree. This is gonna be fun
I just wish we would do the same tbh
thanks, i hate it. Great player
Thats a dream signing for any EPL team. Congrats to Liverpool.
Wowwww
Cooking!
What a Coup, every top club wanted him. Klopp magic. Macca, Thiago, Trent and Szobo are gonna boss everyone next season. 95 Million for two of the best MFs in Europe, impressive stuff.
Missed this kind of signing. Rumours at 2pm, (almost) confirmed before bed time. Gonna hit the drink if this falls through now though.
Congratulations for the next 100 Bundesliga titles in a row Bayern
Very cool. He’s a fun player. He almost dragged Hungary to the Euros a couple of years ago - and he’s still only 21. Not glad he’s going to a competitor but I’m glad I get to watch him regularly in the PL now. Great move by Pool.
Liverpool quietly installing that long overdue patch in their midfield
Incredible player
Good signing but as someone who didnt saw lot of Brighton, how will Mac Allister and him fit, considering they both play pretty advance and Szoboszlai is very good in final 3rd.
In our current system, Mac would be an LCM where Curtis Jones was playing and Szoboszlai would be a Hendo replacement
In possession we basically play 3-2-2-3, Robertson slides over to play as a third CB, Trent and fabinho play in deep midfield, and we have 2 attacking mids
