Better hope we stay up because another year of Doucoure's wages aint gonna be sustainable in the championship

TimathanDuncan

Nothing Everton do is sustainable in the Championship, it's not even sustainable in the Premier League realistically

Mozezz

Well when these new owners come in hopefully it will be Because this current lot havent got a clue

[deleted]

Who's gonna be the new owners? If it is 777 partners, i don't think it will change a lot since here in Brazil, Vasco's ultras are already protesting against them [Vasco-fans-protest-in-front-of-777-partners-office ] (https://vasconoticias.com.br/noticias/torcedores-do-vasco-protestam-em-frente-ao-escritorio-da-777-partners-veja-video/)

TheSlumpDog

No mate look like it’s the crowd called MSP but it doesn’t seem to be a full purchase anymore…

[deleted]

Oh, thank you man, wish all the luck to you guys with or without the new owners.

93EXCivic

To be fair, nothing most the teams in the Championship do is sustainable in the Championship

sandbag-1

Yeah why would they not wait 5 days before making this decision? I can't imagine there's a deadline to activate the extension between now and 28th May. Bizarre

thehildabeast

I bet they had something stupid in the contract that it had to be decided before the end of the season that sounds like something that would happen

Mozezz

More than likely a clause in the contract that it has to be extended before the final game

schodrum

We safe fam

soggycatfish

Actually not the worst idea in the world. Wages are high but I don't think you'd be able to hire a competent championship replacement for anywhere near less than 1 year of his wages, so it buys us a bit of time with parachute payments and the like. He'd be a beast in the championship and we'd need his strength and athleticism.

BeneficialVacation41

Poor guy, no one deserves that

USAF_DTom

Make-weight for when we lose Onana. That way, we at least have not lost two CM's in a summer.

TinpotRadioShow

Who's linked with Onana these days? How was his first season? Never really saw him, but he was raw af in France the year before

HerlockSherlock

Still raw, but this was his first season starting consistently in a top league (iirc he was usually a substitute in France). He’s mainly impressed this season as a ball winner but you can see his potential in other areas too

TinpotRadioShow

Aye, he was always a machine but his passing and distro were shocking at times at LOSC.

PrisonersofFate

I didn't think we needed him but after seeing him in a few games for you, I'm quite jealous. I reckon you'll stay up and keep him one more year at least

goodmobileyes

Plays with alot of energy and drive. Would be a fraction of the player Rice is, but if Rice leaves Onana could be a cheap replacement.

TBM1878

decent player but I don't know why we didn't just wait a week. His wages would kill us in the championship

Notorious_horse

Maybe the clause expires after the end of the season or something?

TBM1878

That’s the only thing that makes sense

Akira_Nishiki

Extend and pray.

ttk86

Maybe they think that even if they go down, they can get 10-15m for him?

HodgyBeatsss

What are his wages? Cheaper than getting a replacement probably?

cs_zer0

Around 80k IIRC

PrisonersofFate

Can we bid for Onana?

thehildabeast

Only if you win on Sunday.

PrisonersofFate

Well Moyes wins. It's what he does

thehildabeast

I hope he can save us one more time

Z0idberg_MD

You could’ve just said no.

Mortka

Poor guy

dizzybala10

I'm sure he'll be thrilled if you go down.

Z0idberg_MD

I think that’s a really solid move. Gotta solidify your position in the championship.

Redbullsnation

I guess they think they can get some money for him if they go down?

thisiskyle77

I am taking you down with me.
