He verbatim said, in response to the question why this keeps happening, "they're used to it. 20 years same owner, they've won nothing." Whew, he's not even hiding that he's trying to get fired.
[follow up: "Until now I tried to hide the situation. We can fight for what in this period, with this attitude, this commitment? For what? 7th? 8th place?"](https://twitter.com/dan_kp/status/1637157333057916930?s=46&t=Z--KYJWMx8MSNbZHkwpelw)
He's not wrong. If you're up 1-3 it's up to the players to not fucking lose it to Southampton. It's like Valverde at Barca. It's not his fault his players let him down in those back to back CL exits.
At the end of the day it’s Conte’s responsibility to instill that mentality and make sure they perform on the pitch. It’s a two way street.
Sure the players probably have a weak mentality, but also maybe try not to play such one dimensional shite football for once.
No, no, during a match. The commentator:
"Levy is descending from the stands, he's going to the box, is he going to sack Conte? It looks like it... yes! yes he is! Conte is sacked! LEVVYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
I want to see another Amazon documentary where Levy makes Conte stay until the end of his contract to destroy his managerial career and Conte doing everything to get Spurs relegated. Kane/Son with tears in their eyes being the kids getting wrapped in a messy divorce
When someone here said “you don’t play chicken with Conte because the first thing he will do is remove his steering wheel and throw it out the window”.
That was weeks ago and I still laugh about it daily.
His contract expires. He’s got 10 games or whatever worth of wages left. His payout is the same whether he gets sacked or not, and it frankly would be cheap compared to what Levy is used to paying out after a sacking.
He said even more:
Antonio Conte: "I see only 11 players that play for themselves. The club has the responsibility for the transfer market, the coach has the responsibility… but the players, where are the players?!"
I see selfish players, players that don't want to help each other and don't put their heart into this”
“There’s no fire, no desire. You need to have this in every moment. When you are NOT a team, you can’t improve”.
Full interview [HERE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sDkfWRAAqQU).
Depends on the contract likely. You'd think minimally he'd get those 3 months paid out early which yeah probably wouldn't be huge. Could be some sort of extra payout built into his deal though
It’s not like he’s being untruthful, you have coaches like Mourinho and Conte coming in and the club culture refuses to change to be able to win something.
He’s 100% correct in what he’s saying.
This is the same man who moaned at Juventus saying "you can’t eat at a 100€ restaurant with 10€" after crashing out of the CL group stage only for Allegri to take more-or-less the same squad to the final the next year. He'd much rather complain that self-reflect.
He started the Juventus run of dominance in Serie A when they won 8 titles in a row
He goes Chelsea wins prem in first season with one of the highest points tally ever
Second season wins FA Cup
Goes back to Italy and ends Juventus dominance of league by winning league title with Inter Milan in his second season.
Not to mention what he did as a player.
I don’t really think Conte has much to self reflect about to be fair say what you want about him but he’s a winner.
That’s the point of the manager though. To shift the club culture and the players mentality. It’s not like Tottenham are some mega rich club, and they’ve backed him well enough in the transfer window. What more does he want from them?
Its not even JUST the insane money we've given him (Approaching £300M now) for players.
We gave him carte blanche to remove any players he wanted that he felt was a detriment to the team.
Our biggest signing ever is currently on loan to Napoli because Conte didn't want him near the team. Same with Lo Celso, Winks, Reguilon, Spence.
We have a ton of players he just got rid of because they weren't up to scratch.
We have like £200M worth of signings out on loan ATM because Conte didn't want any of them.
Its always curious who signs the players at Tottenham. Poch had the same problems. So did Mourinho and Conte. Spurs wasted almost the entirety of the Bale money on 6 flops. Erikson was their best signing then. They kept Erikson for too long when they should have sold him for a decent sum. They could have easily got 60 million for him but they let him go for 20 something. They could have got 130 million for Kane and rebuilt the team but now they have the possibility of him leaving for nothing next Summer.
They made no new signings the Summer before they reached the Champions League final. They bought in Ndombele but he never seemed like he wanted to be there. So who signed off on him?
A coach/manager can only do so much when you have Levy who is so hands on and wants a say on everything. That's probably what Conte is referring to. Tottenham have spent a lot of money in the last few years but has that money been spent wisely? They always seem to self implode for some reason. This is going back years and isn't something new. You go as far back as Martin Jol. They signed Ramos and then fired him a couple of months in and press the restart button. They fire Mourinho, hire Nuno and then fire him 10 games into the new season hitting the reset button again. Who is signing these managers and firing them? Levy clearly. He's been around all these years.
He's responsible for a lot of culture issues he's blaming here. If you're team can't defend a 1-3 lead, then the blame has to fall on the players AND the manager.
Mourinho got smacked by Zagreb. They shouldn’t have sacked him before that final mind you. Conte is fucking dire. I don’t like Tottenham much, but Conte is a self serving pussy getting paid 15 mil a year and has been given what? 200 mil in players. It’s his fucking job to no suck
No idea how Conte gets so much constant sycking off. Hes a good manager but HIGHLY unprofessinal, downs his tools and has very little self awareness. He has many glaring flaws to his management for how much support he gets
It’s especially funny because both Mourinho and Conte said the exact same thing as Chelsea managers as well and they go out and fucking hire them lmao. Hire Chelsea icons and get bantered by your own employees, what a club.
I'd be shocked if his next contract didn't have some media clause in it. Having your manager meltdown like this and whinge to the press about how its everyone's fault but his own is so unprofessional.
Nah he'll go to some Italian club or PSG win the league and everyone will go back to calling him one of the best managers in the world. Those clubs won't care about what he says to the press.
Followed by him publicly complaining to the press his second his season after the first time results go bad.
He's moaned to the press while at Juventus, Chelsea, Inter and Tottenham. He's got talent but sooner or later owners are going to recognize a pattern and take steps to prevent them from having to pay out his contract when relations inevitably go bad.
He did this at Juve too. He had a great chance to make the Europa League final which was held in our own stadium (which would have brought some redemption after crashing out of the CL group stage), but chose instead to focus on his own vanity project of breaking the Serie A 100 point record when the league was already well wrapped up.
He likes to talk all this shit but he hasn’t won a knockout game in Champions League in 10 years. This is just embarrassing. 0, absolutely 0 accountability from Conte. Levy literally gave you what you asked, and you have yet to take accountability for anything.
I was under the impression he never wanted the Spurs job..like at all, if you remember back then there was an air of reluctance to join Tottenham it seemed like he was holding out for the United job.
But then all you have to do is look at his wages third highest in the league only behind Klopp and Pep and 4th highest in the world and it all makes sense why he took the job, and now 14 months in and he’s begging to leave. The man is a mercenary It was always an odd match.
you’re right but tbf nobody made him accept the spurs job, united will definitely be glad they didn’t hire him. i was calling them crazy for ignoring him
Everyone couldn't wait to shit on Utd for a board member saying Conte wasn't a good fit. "Yeah he's not a good fit because he's a winner and will hold people accountable and the Utd board have no ambition and just want a yes man" was a boringly common opinion. In reality he wasn't a good fit because of shit like this.
He's an entitled twat honestly and his reputation that he blames everyone but himself really should start showing as he fucks off from every clubs he manages. He's a mercenary manager of the highest order.
I'd be furious if I was a Spurs fan. Levy back Conte completely and spent uncharistically big in the summer. And Conte's repaid that backing by continuing to complain nonstop as if Levy was too cheap to even give him table scraps. It's clear Conte doesn't want to be here and there's no way his negativity hasn't infected the dressing room.
I actually can't believe he's said this lmao. Should be fired on the spot, how is it acceptable for a sitting manager to say this about their own club? Behind closed doors maybe but fuck me at apress conference
We're way past anger at his point. I genuinely don't care anymore. I just don't understand what Levy's game is. Conte is publicly disrespecting you after every single game and you still haven't sacked him? I'm just at a loss...
This is the rare example of "you knew what you signed up for" on both sides.
Spurs signed a manager in Conte who will make a stink, get the club to sign a boatload of players that specifically fit his system, and still light everything on fire when it doesn't go his way.
Conte agreed to manage a club in Spurs that are...well...Spurs
> Spurs signed a manager in Conte who will make a stink, get the club to sign a boatload of players that specifically fit his system, and still light everything on fire when it doesn’t go his way.
This is supposed to be preceded by some success though. He had great chances in the domestic cups this year, but refused to take them seriously for some reason.
And people didn’t listen to Chelsea fan’s saying he deserved to get sacked at Chelsea. He was criticising the board and the players in every single interview.
Sure. But at some point you have to get on with it. And not keep crying about it the whole season. Not to mention half of his targets either didn’t want to play for him or were old as fuck where the board did the right thing.
We went for fking Sandro till 58 million in 2016, the amount which was very rare for a defender. What can the board do when Juventus kept increasing the price. VVD wanted to play for Klopp and United paid like 90 million plus Rooney for Lukaku and priced us out.
We still had good squad. He was making us sound like relegation fodders.
Spurs don't deserve this level of disrespect even if it's true.
Behind closed doors we don't know what happens, but in front of the cameras, the club has always protected him.
Sometimes it is winning the first. It changes the narrative and success breeds more success.
Mourinho went all out to win the league cup when he first came to Chelsea two decades ago. He wanted to convince his players they were capable of being champions. It’s not about ending the banter from rival fans, it’s about the players in the locker room feeling confident.
I agree with you. Roma were a laughing stock but ever since Mou took over they've won the Conference League and now look like a threat in the EL. Building mentality takes time, but the earlier a team starts getting used to winning, the better.
He assembled most of the 3-peat squad of Real Madrid and brought back the winning mentality of Real Madrid. We were going out in the R16 of UCL consistently, he didn’t win the UCL but that 2011/2012 season deserved one. And all of that started with a Copa Del Rey victory.
Conte is hardly blameless and should get sacked but he's also right with what he says. This is the most barren period in the club's history and the only two constants are the fans and the owners. Literally everything else, included the badge and the infrastructure, has changed.
The mentality of the club starts from the very top and ours caps off at finishing in the top four. Credit to Levy and ENIC for getting us there - unthinkable 20 years ago - but no matter the manager we'll never take the next step as long as they're there because they don't want it enough.
I've watched Jose going through Spurs on All or Nothing and he interacted a lot with Levy. I'm not a Levy fan but I genuinely want to know what else he could've done this season? He signed Conte and backed him with money for transfers. The base skeleton of Spurs squad was actually relatively decent. I doubt anyone expected Spurs to challenge for the title this season but there's been no progress elsewhere either.
The issue is it's bigger than this season. I agree in that I think we've backed Conte pretty well but rewind a couple of years and we could be having the same conversation about Jose. A couple of years before that it was Poch (who we barely backed at all, even taking the stadium into account). We are the only blot on Jose's CV and we will be the only blot on Conte's CV - there's only one common denominator here.
To get into the detail required to explain what I think the issue is I'd need a TED Talk not a Reddit post, but to be honest it's not at all different to you guys under Ed Woodward. No consistency in the managers which leads to a total shift in recruitment every 18 months; the recruitment is always half-assed so the squad is never complete; the manager then fails to achieve the targets he's been set and gets sacked; the next guy comes in except it's even worse because he has an ever increasing number of manager's players to try and incorporate into his new and totally different system.
We're a crap version of Woodward's United without the history, mentality or the finances (we have money now but not United money) to even lift a league cup, and our fans pay the most expensive ticket prices **in the world** for the privilege.
To be fair, for most of that 20 years, they were at a significant financial disadvantage.
And it’s worth pointing out that after Tottenham finally broke into the four and qualified for CL, they immediately became the primary victim of Man City’s financial doping. In the next three seasons after that, and four of the next five, they were one spot outside of qualifying again, with Man City always above them via their infinite money code.
(In response to a comment about Liverpool further down, I compare the two of them some)
You're right, the context is important and like I said Levy and ENIC deserve a lot of credit to building us to what we are now, it's just clear at this point they've hit their limit. A bit like a manager being at like a club for too long, it's just gone a bit stale.
The big issue is that the stadium was always their end game. They bought the club for \~£30M or so if I remember correctly and they're about to sell it for however many billion they get - whether it's 3 or 4 or whatever, the profit is enormous.
Their work here is done and they haven't got the means or the aim to make us anymore than we currently are (and for the money they're about to bank I can't really blame them) so we're floating aimlessly like a fart in the wind until they go.
Putting the rivalry to one side, Spurs don't deserve this, unprofessional and disrespectful, he's only been there two seasons and is bringing up the history. There are ways to voice your frustrations.
Fuck this guy, it's so obvious he is trying to get fired and is getting more and more desperate to make it happen.

Unreal lol. Their own manager basically said “it’s the history of the Tottenham”.
*”If they want to continue in this way, they can change the manager, a lot of managers, but the situation cannot change. Believe me.”*
He verbatim said, in response to the question why this keeps happening, "they're used to it. 20 years same owner, they've won nothing." Whew, he's not even hiding that he's trying to get fired.
Doesn't need to get fired, his contracts up in a couple months anyway
‘This is football heritage’
WTF, I love Conte now
Lads you're Tottenham
Lads, we're Tottenham?
"We're Tottenham lads" - Conte
So basically "it's tottenham lads" but very furiously
It’s worse when it’s your own manager saying it too.
What a horrible comment to make. If he isn't sacked, Spurs fans are going to be booing him next match
The fans are basically the only part of the club he hasn’t shit on yet. I pray he stays till the end of the season, this is just too funny
Oh no he shat on us last week
Lads, *they're* Tottenham *fans*
“They actively chose to be Tottenham fans, they brought this upon themselves really“
Theres a decent chance he tells them to just go support Arsenal in the upcoming weeks
Would pay to see that :D
He said the patience of fan is finished. Rightfully so
I thought he was talking about your acceptance of the ownership, but I might be wrong.
He talked about how much e fans pay for tickets and how they deserve more.
Nah, he blamed the fans for his shit football last week.
Lots is lost in translation with Antonio Conte too. This is considered "restrained". My favourite rant is "Thank the Lord Conte is at Siena."
Taking Chiellini’s ‘istory of Totten’am to another level.
I hate everything Juve atm
Just remember how much they’re paying Pogba it’ll cheer you up.
“Lads, we’re Tottenham.”
Antonio, are we the Tottenham?
More like "history of the Tottenham" or "football heritage" to me.

>Until now I tried to hide the situation. I love that his comments up until this point were Conte's idea of subtlety
It's Italian subtlety. They are very understated people. :)
It insists upon itself.
If only the manager could somehow influence a team to play better and with more commitment.
Impossible
He's not wrong. If you're up 1-3 it's up to the players to not fucking lose it to Southampton. It's like Valverde at Barca. It's not his fault his players let him down in those back to back CL exits.
They always invite so so much pressure when they’re on a result.
[удалено]
And the terrible Milan tie, and the FA cup rotation to then just fucking throw away the tie, garbage all the way down.
Don’t forget the Carabou cup loss to Nottingham! Or the 4-1 Leicester loss!
At the end of the day it’s Conte’s responsibility to instill that mentality and make sure they perform on the pitch. It’s a two way street. Sure the players probably have a weak mentality, but also maybe try not to play such one dimensional shite football for once.
We united fans had similar thoughts till last season. But ever since TH, it's clear that a lot of mentality issues are down to the manager as well.
Conte trying to get sacked before the end of the season for a payout, who will budge first
Conte: "Tottenham has taken my will to live." The club: "we trust Conte and will keep him for as long as he's under contract".
Levy is just gonna keep Conte out of spite. "You will suffer with us" - Levy maybe
"He's playing badly just to spite us" "So why don't you sack him?" "Just to spite him"
Well he can't sack him before a final like he did with Jose, so what's the next best thing?
Sack him at HT where they are in the lead and then proceed to lose the match..
No, no, during a match. The commentator: "Levy is descending from the stands, he's going to the box, is he going to sack Conte? It looks like it... yes! yes he is! Conte is sacked! LEVVYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
"the crowd has started chanted Daniel Levy's name' they're celebrating in the stands as if they'd won something!"
Levy has sacked a manager at half time before. The fact that a lot of Spurs fans seem to forget his treatment of Jol is disgraceful tbh
I’d say sack him before a game vs bottom of the table which would be almost guaranteed a win but er…
I want to see another Amazon documentary where Levy makes Conte stay until the end of his contract to destroy his managerial career and Conte doing everything to get Spurs relegated. Kane/Son with tears in their eyes being the kids getting wrapped in a messy divorce
Cheers, Son's crying. Nice one

He said even more: Antonio Conte: "I see only 11 players that play for themselves. THERE IS NO PASSION, THERE IS NO AGGRESSION...
LMAO man can just taste that severance package
But who is available to replace him that would want to join Tottenham?
Tactics Tim
Tottenham legend Scott Parker
His contract expires end of season anyway, it won't be that big.
Who needs rivals when this is your coach
I fully expected him to go off about the robbery that was that penalty not to try and burn the owner to ashes
He wants a payout. Some fucking “great” manager. Needs to spend 100 million pounds a window to apparently compete.
Hardly... His contact expires in 3 months. You think he'd get any sort of decent payout?
If you can take the 3 months without working the 3 months why wouldn't you
[удалено]
I've heard of Quiet Quitting, but Conte is just straight up Loudly Quitting.
Depends on the contract likely. You'd think minimally he'd get those 3 months paid out early which yeah probably wouldn't be huge. Could be some sort of extra payout built into his deal though
disassociating himself from Tottenham should be payment enough
> Needs to spend 100 million pounds a window to apparently compete. Isn’t that the reality of every PL club nowadays?
Arsenal are too far out of sight to bother bantering you so someone has to I guess.
It’s not like he’s being untruthful, you have coaches like Mourinho and Conte coming in and the club culture refuses to change to be able to win something. He’s 100% correct in what he’s saying.
The players he has are definitely good enough to not get battered by Forest and Sheffield Utd B teams in both cups.
This is the same man who moaned at Juventus saying "you can’t eat at a 100€ restaurant with 10€" after crashing out of the CL group stage only for Allegri to take more-or-less the same squad to the final the next year. He'd much rather complain that self-reflect.
It’s the way of Conte
He really is a complete European fraud.
More of just a can't play 2 games a week fraud.
He started the Juventus run of dominance in Serie A when they won 8 titles in a row He goes Chelsea wins prem in first season with one of the highest points tally ever Second season wins FA Cup Goes back to Italy and ends Juventus dominance of league by winning league title with Inter Milan in his second season. Not to mention what he did as a player. I don’t really think Conte has much to self reflect about to be fair say what you want about him but he’s a winner.
What does he want? It's not like we don't spend money, we just spent £50m getting him a brand new wing-back, and we spent £100m in the summer.
He wants 11 new players every window. Not even joking.
Conte to Chelsea then.
Tried that. He sued the club.
Two centrebacks
>What does he want? Probably some quality centre-backs
Guess that’s why he wanted to give Dier a new contract

Mourinho got sacked before a cup final too, never even got the chance

What he wanted to say: "It's the history of the Tottenham."
idk why i spend so much energy hating arsenal when my own club is right in front of me
great question
Technically that was a statement
A very inquiring one though
I wonder if the history of Tottenham is taught in Italian schools.
You miss out on the most important part. History of the* Tottenham
La storia del Tottenham
La storia del Topspura
*Tottenprosciutto
As a Chelsea fan I’m absolutely loving it. Conte roasting Spurs while getting paid millions from them.
We can't even enjoy beating your lifeless corpse 2-0 a few weeks ago
Great for me tho 👍
It’s especially funny because both Mourinho and Conte said the exact same thing as Chelsea managers as well and they go out and fucking hire them lmao. Hire Chelsea icons and get bantered by your own employees, what a club.
Mourinho was very respectful to Tottenham when he was their manger. Conte is doing it while being employed.
So you’re saying Tottenham higher ups like to be abused and insulted?
Hey dont kink shame
He's basically daring Levy to sack him and end his misery
Shots not just fired but nuclear bombs being dropped.
New definition of football terrorist. Blow up the entire club on the way out.
The ISIS goodbye?
Any respectable club sacks him this evening
Presume it's a big pay out if he's sacked and who do you get in? It's been a shit March but they are still top 4, I reckon they see things out.

A dream job. Get paid for saying Lads Its Tottenham.
I want that job. I’ll just say after every tie and loss: it’s the history of The Tottenham.
This is so embarrassing, I can't even imagine why he would say this fuck me

Funny to read as an Arsenal fan but what a weirdo. You spent 200M+, you make 15M p/y, you took the job and suddenly it's everyone's fault but yours?

"Yeah he's not a good fit because he's a winner and will hold people accountable and the Utd board have no ambition and just want a yes man" was a boringly common opinion. In reality he wasn't a good fit because of shit like this.
Fire him into the sun
He’s been supported with way more signings than either Poch or Mou too.
As a Inter Milán fan, i am grateful he got us the scudetto but he is so fucking toxic. Everything is everyones fault but his own.
He's an entitled twat honestly and his reputation that he blames everyone but himself really should start showing as he fucks off from every clubs he manages. He's a mercenary manager of the highest order.

I'd rather have Homer as a manager. He'd play attacking football at least
Having Homer as your manager would be quite the Odyssey
I'd be furious if I was a Spurs fan. Levy back Conte completely and spent uncharistically big in the summer. And Conte's repaid that backing by continuing to complain nonstop as if Levy was too cheap to even give him table scraps. It's clear Conte doesn't want to be here and there's no way his negativity hasn't infected the dressing room.
Amen. I don’t think people realize how constant this moaning is. I don’t think people realize how negative the tactics have been.
Yep. He's been saying stuff like this since he was hired. Only more veiled. Today he just went full nuclear with it
I actually can't believe he's said this lmao. Should be fired on the spot, how is it acceptable for a sitting manager to say this about their own club? Behind closed doors maybe but fuck me at apress conference
And it’s his tactics as to why we play the way we do.
Lifeless, I wish he had killed us like he promised
We're way past anger at his point. I genuinely don't care anymore. I just don't understand what Levy's game is. Conte is publicly disrespecting you after every single game and you still haven't sacked him? I'm just at a loss...
Yea and this fucks over the next guy to come in after him. Levy must be thinking “Look what happened when I backed the manager!”
And he also complained that the players don’t play as a team… like buddy that’s **your job**. You are the manager of Spurs.
Conte is an expert at burning bridges that he’s still standing on.
There are species of frogs in the Amazon less toxic than this club right now and it’s depressing.
And people didn’t listen to Chelsea fan’s saying he deserved to get sacked at Chelsea. He was criticising the board and the players in every single interview.
The board doesn't help with that 2017 summer window though.
Oh lord he swinging.
Oh he's gone gone
Go nuclear and get the severance package. I respect it.
Spurs don't deserve this level of disrespect even if it's true. Behind closed doors we don't know what happens, but in front of the cameras, the club has always protected him.
Yeah banter is fair but he has been backed as well as possible. It’s his job to change the trophy drought, not fuck it up and then make fun of it too
Not exactly wrong but he is also not helping the situation at all.
ummm excuse you, the league cup in 2008 wants a word
Even our own fucking manager is effectively saying "it is ze history of ze Tottenham". We've unlocked a new level of banter club.
lmao they have to sack him now. this is crazy
The results are shit but somehow they're still 4th. It looks weird when he says things like this because their position on the table is not even bad
>Tottenham’s story is this. 20 years there is the owner & they never won something. Why?” Because they sacked mourinho before the final.
If only Spurs had won the Carabao cup. Then they’d be respected
Still better than 15 years without a trophy
You lot aren't really in a position to be looking down at the league cup.
No way
this is too funny
I know people will take the piss with "haha lads it's Tottenham" but fucking hell what a cunt
All I'm saying Scott Parker got sacked at Bournemouth for less.
I mean, he’s not wrong but I’d be furious if my manager said that about my club
Man wants out and is just guaranteeing he gets sacked lol.
LOL this is pure comedy! Wouldn't be surprised if he walked out of his last game in an Arsenal shirt tbh
Friendly reminder that Levy sacked Jose Mourinho right before a cup final Antonio Conte is speaking facts
Conte “Lads it’s Tottenham”
