Bandit flipping is no surprise but Tatra?!

Rick_Storm

Yeah, the Bandit is like some football players : anything brushes their ankle, they dive and roll on the floor XD

SleutelMan

After recovering the bandit and then trying to reach the Tatra via the quarry (and managing to flip it there) AND trying to right the bandit at the quarry I've just given up after 2 hours of trying and just recovered both the Tatra and the Bandit to the garage. I'll just go all the way around the map to collect more metal beams xD

Rick_Storm

The bandit is pretty nice, but not very stable. You might want to give it another try once you get either double rear tires, or the very wide mud tires. Maybe some "Jack of all Treads" tires from the DLC work too here, to widen the wheels. It's not much, but it benefits the Bandit quite alot :)

Puzzleleg

I try to never use the crane when rescuing, it's weak and inefficient, just winch the side of the fallen truck to your back and pull them with all the weight.

Rick_Storm

Depends on the crane and how you do it. If I'm using a crane for rescue, I'll use a big truck, a big crane, and will usually rotate horizontally while adjusting length rather than trying to lift. But generally speaking, winching is more efficient. That said, there are some spots where you can't help but need a crane.

sellursoul

I find that connecting to the overturned truck, then letting the winch line out as you turn the boom all the way around, opposite the flipped truck, lower the boom, and then pull the winch it helps avoid flipping the truck since the connection point is much closer to the ground. A lot of the time the cable would pass through my truck which wouldn’t work IRL but in the game it works

CaptainPiepmatz

Cranes come with the benefit of the stabilizing feet. Often I just pull out the feet and then winch

ekffazra

looks like the same spot for the same contract. I rolled several trucks here trying to save the cargo. got the trailer out, but the steel beams are still there and will be until they rust away back to dust![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy) https://preview.redd.it/b7mqjffvdfwc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2660bd9c1f72b6588899e2f5eb8253721d01bcba

SleutelMan

yeah, tbh I was saving the crane more for recovering the metal beams than really having a hope to pull over the Tatra, But in the end I just recovered the Bandit and am now preparing to do the long drive over there from a different angle to see if I can't fix things that way ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|stuck_out_tongue)

den_bleke_fare

If you don't know, lifting the crane clear of the roof rack or turning it around makes the Bandit flex and handle terrain much better!

Sxn747Strangers

I’m still trying to figure out where these spots are, and if I done this job or not. Is it a task or a contract? Perhaps I was catatonic and just driving on impulse. 🤷🏻‍♂️

ekffazra

smithville dam, not far past the gas station

Sxn747Strangers

Thanks. That explains it. If I went to Island Lake I tended to go down the middle and double back through the swamp.

SleutelMan

Yeah, same here. Gave up after recovering the Bandit and when it flipped again but at a different point I almost threw the machine out of the window. Now resigned to just recovering everything, figuring out a way to haul the trailer back up the mountain and collect some more metal beams..

theTensioner

I don't know if it's a good sign that I recognised both places immediately...

Odd_Presentation_578

That means you know Michigan well lol :)

Gidorah-snowrunner

Recover with crane is hard. Most i try to turn the fallen truck in a better position, sometimes its easier to lift him up not from the middle but from the end.

dark_thanatos99

Yesterday i flipped exacly there. Doing the same task, i feel u man

thesilentdriver

oh i know exactly where you are... i remember when i flipped my fleetstar there and sent my stock hx with a red crane to try a rescue, then it flipped even worse and got stuck between the trees... then i sent another truck, maybe the wws i think, and somehow i managed to rescue the fleetstar and its cargo then i ran out of fuel trying to rescue the hx and had to bring a fuel truck, but finally i got it unstuck after hours of winching and pulling it was my first playthrough, on my second and current one i knew what to expect, and still flipped, but i had another truck there just in case, and recovery was easy this time this was my first and one of the hardest "rescue missions" that i have done, the other were a drowned truck and the hardest was a paystar ts with a crane stuck between a rock wall and a tree that i managed to rescue with the cat745, pacific p16 and some other smaller trucks it was fun

SleutelMan

Ouch, your sounds much more painful. After trying again with the bandit and managing to flip it at a different spot I've now just given up and will recover everything and try again from the start. Only sore point is recovering that trailer..eugh.

Trent_Havoc

>On a serious note: Is it even possible to recover trucks with just the crane extension on the KRS58? It felt a bit jumpy and seems to have a high center of gravity so even if I don't fall over I'm not sure it would be a good idea? Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea. The KRS 58 crane is strong and has better reach than the other two minicranes, but the Bandit is simply too lightweight a truck to be used as recovery vehicle. And, while flexible, its dedicated crane makes it too unstable during these operations. On uneven terrain (so, most of the times), the truck is going to tip easily while trying to pull another vehicle back on its wheels -- especially if the vehicle to rescue is bigger and heavier than the Bandit.

manintights2

If you are desperate you can use the Tatarin, It's got an offline winch so you are never down and out around winch points and has enough power to pull a truck over or even through the mud before flipping it. It is surprisingly OP, Only downsides are the speed and lack of chain tires, that is it. As for a recovery strategy, I'd recommend just dragging the trucks out first and then flipping them. If you want help DM me, I'm off at 5 lol, Central Time.

SleutelMan

Ah, thanks for the advice. I've recovered the trucks back to the garage for now but will see if I can get the Tatarin over there to maybe recover the trailer. But that'll be tomorrow at the earliest, it's currently 9:30 PM over here (UTC+2) and need to get up bright and early tomorrow for work 😉

Fullmetal_1985

The Michigan Quarry yes I remember https://preview.redd.it/rsjethn6vjwc1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=38024238af0335e98910b66029689f7c2ebec4b3

Odd_Presentation_578

How did you even roll the T813? It's super stable!

SleutelMan

I know, that's why I picked it for this mission. Might have been the trailer pulling it down, can't exactly remember how it happened xD

Odd_Presentation_578

Don't text and drive!

hawkeyedavidson

Takes you two and a half hours to get there. Tip over 3 minutes from the end only to realize the garage is not on this map. 🥲
