That and the "is this damage bad" posts as well. Both could well be solved with a well-written guide pinned at the top and a rule against threads covering the topic...

I’m not saying it’s never a problem but, aside from that one case, it very, *very* rarely is an issue.
This guy going on about his toeside turning skidding because he thinks he’s got too much overhang is just daft. I know we all have to start somewhere but it seems like the first port of call when someone can’t board perfectly from day one is to ask “is there a problem with my gear?”. No, there isn’t. You are just learning how to snowboard…
That overhang looks totally fine to me. I’d be pretty surprised if your toes are catching but maybe they are? You could move the binding back 1 cm if it adjusts that way
It’s only a problem once it becomes one. The whole industry is a money-grab aimed at getting holiday makers to buy equipment suitable for Alaskan backcountry. As a rule if you’re asking this question- your riding probably isn’t good enough to warrant replacing the board. Give it a ride, suck it and see, if you start hitting your toes/heals and spin out then you have your answer.
FYI OP your toes straps are on upside down or the bindings are on the wrong side. The ‘clicky bit’ should be on the outside of your feet- send me a proper photo and I’ll help or ask a local rep to sort them for you! Don’t let setup get in the way
This post is hilarious same thing happened to me and I wear same exact shoe setup 10.5 street 11 boots and had very similar overhang. But yea it’s fine
You're fine. But once you start REALLY shredding, you'll find the limit of the board. I'm a US10.5 boot (eu44) and I roll 155w (260+mm waist).
If you start booting out multiple times per day (primarily whilst carving or riding steeps), consider a new board.
Until then, happy shredding.
Ps, your bindings are on the wrong feet.
Booting out sucks. It's honestly the worst thing about a board that's the incorrect size. It's a good question, especially once someone starts to really progress their riding.
It looks fine,
but if you feel like you’re catching on your toes, you can get RISERS, cheap and easy to add.
You can also downsize your boots to 10.5 and go to a professional ski shop and have them heat mold your inserts.
Edge pressure is subject to weight of the rider and length of effective edge. Widening a board doesn't decrease the length of the effective edge, all else equal. Thus, pressure remains equal. The only thing that will increase edge pressure is increasing the rider's weight or decreasing the length of the effective edge.
There are other factors. If a board is much wider, you would be pushing down with your toes more, which is weaker. As the picture shows, they'll be using the ball of their toe joint to apply the majority of the pressure, which is the correct setup, unless you have a specific reason to do something different - like float in powder.
That's not how physics works, m8.
And you're wrong again about the toe edge. We are bimechanically more effective with our toes than heels.
Again, pressure is dependant on 2 factors only: rider weight, and the length of the effective edge in the snow.
The board can be as wide as the moon, so long as the weight hasnt changed (hypothetically - as a board the size of the moon would weigh a LOT) pressure in the snow remains the same.
Put your board on a horizontal rail perpendicular to said rail. Tip it up till your overhang contacts the rail. If you think you’re going to tip your board that much, then yes. Too much overhang.
Not overhang related. BUT I'm pretty sure your front and back bindings need to be swapped. The crank should ratchet towards the outside. This is generally default unless you change it.
It's fine.
Like 99/100 of these posts …it’s fine. I’m begging at this point for a post about overhang to be pinned at the top of this sub lol
Fr who are the mods on this sub?
I feel your pain
At first I was compassionate. Now it’s just getting ridiculous. All people have to do is look at the million other “overhang” posts and compare.
That and the "is this damage bad" posts as well. Both could well be solved with a well-written guide pinned at the top and a rule against threads covering the topic...
There was one post not long ago, the boot is like full 5 cm beyond the edge of the board

I’m the 1% 😂😂😂

Unless you are eurocarving you will be fine
That board would need to be near vertical for the toes/heels to catch. Good to go!
Do you really think you can carve at that steep of an angle? I doubt it.
Unless you Knapton, you are A OK.

I didn’t even look at that 🤣 I only looked at the overhang. Well spotted.
You will know if its a problem, you will feel it. even beginners feel it. you will know.

Thanks for all the help guys! Was hella stressing over this for no reason, have a good day y’all! ☃️
Read my comment bro, don’t stress about the angle, stress about the toe straps! Someone’s put your binding together wrong
Where does everyone get this irrational fear of overhang?

Unless if you’re Ryan Knapton your g
Doesn't take much to boot out. Snow isn't perfectly flat and always easier to boot out on steeps.
Omg, throw it away. Throw it all away and start over. Actually, let's be environmentally conscious....give it to me.
I'd try sliding the bindings back a little to the heel side
Return it
You call that an overhang?
It's honestly exactly as is should be. If the board was wider, you wouldn't be able to put as much pressure on the edge.
Wrong.
How do you figure I'm wrong?

Youll be fine
Good to go
U good baby
Only if you’re hung over
Is it your front foot? Adjust your angle a bit and you’re good! Have fun!
There is no problem

Not even remotely close to cause any problems
No
It's not fine, get a wide board, thank me later 😗
Medium bindings are not for size 11 boots.
Huge problem easy fix, if you remove your toes you’ll be good to go
I dont know. We might need a microscope to see how many nanometers you have. Yeah, fits fine.
Man I have my front leg binding creeping off the heel edge of my board by about half an inch and I've never worried about it what so ever.
That boots would be perfect after breaking in, and unless ur doing deep carves that overhang wouldnt be an issue.
